Starting with the morning announcements and reading the entire book is a treat for everyone. I enjoy reading the books to my grandchildren. We all sit (somewhat) cramped on the sofa. I read them the book and we all laugh together.

I happened across this book by chance. I had no idea that Stine had done an adult book. I had been a huge fan of his book since I was 12 and had read most of them. I of course had to read this one. It was pretty good although the plot was predictable. There were some suprises though. I highly reccomend this book to any Stine fan.

But I love Fear Street!

Maybe I opened this book with too high of expectations. I love the Fear Street series, have since I was a kid. I may have a BA in English, bu I still love to read these during TV comerials and smoke breaks. Anyways, to make a too long story short, I HATED this book. I didn't connect with any of the characters, and the plot left too many gaping holes. Also, while trying to please "adults" Stine left all of his charm on the cutting room floor. I only spent .50 on this at a garage sale, yet I still feel I was ripped off. The only reason I gave this terrible book 2 stars is beacause the idea was original, and I still love the Fear St. books.

When I first read this book I thought it was awesome. I loved the Fear Street series and jumped to the chance to read an "adult novel" by R.L. Stine. But I was also 10 years old at the time and a little above my age level. I'm now 23 and just bought it again, for less that $1, to see hoe it really is for a grown-up.

This book is typical R. L. Stine but with a little more gore and sex because it was written for an adult audience. The plot was too predictable, and you would have to be pretty dense to not pick up who the murderer was. The reason said murdered was committing these crimes is pretty ridiculous, but I will give Stine props for the last chapter's cliffhanger. That scene was well done.

Stine has written a few more recent adult books that were great ("The Babysitter" and "Eye Candy"), but this book was really a mess. I think for hardcore Stine fans, this book will probably be alright, but anyone else will see this book as a cheap knockoff of Dean Koontz or Stephen King. My best advice: Go in with low expectations.

This is an outstanding book. This is a horror/
slasher/mystery type book. Definitely very gripping.

This book is about the lives of Professor
Liam O' Conner and one of his students Sara.
They fall in love and get married. But Liam's
obsession with superstitions are driving Sara crazy.
But when she starts getting phone calls warning
her about Liam she ignores them. But when the
murders start up and Liam knows all the victims,
Sara starts to worry.

This is definitely not for younger readers
it was written for adults but I being a seventh grader
still liked it.

The Best Friend The setting in this book is many places like school, and at the main character's house. Those are the main two. The main character is Honey Perkins. She says that she is Becka Norwoods best friend. Becka says that she has never even meet Honey. The Plot of the story starts when Becka first meets Honey. When that happend Honey starts to follow Becka around. Honey also starts to dressing like Becka and even copying Becka's hair. Then honey starts appearing in Beckas room. I think that honey is stacking Becka,so that honey can embarrass Becka and steel all of Becka's friends. I recommend this book because it's scary and if you like scary this is the book for you. I give this book 4 stars.

The book that got me reading.

I was never much of reader until the late 80s and early 90s saw an amazing boom in teen thrillers. I quickly got hooked and devoured every single one I could buy off the shelf. I particularly liked the Fear Street series; even though R.L. Stine is, in my opinion, a pretty bad writer, the stories moved quickly and you could guiltily enjoy them for a couple of hours and forget about them immediately afterwards. He was basically a James Patterson for the under-15 set.

The Best Friend was one of the first books I read, but it was only when I re-read it recently that I realised it was one of the best in the series. Yes, the chapters are all short and end with one ridiculous cliffhanger after another, but the story is much more subtle - and manipulative - than your average teen thriller. The story is about Becka Norwood being stalked by the strange Honey Perkins, who claims to be her best friend. Honey is presented as being a few beers short of a six-pack, but we are never explicitly told Honey committed all the acts attributed to her - and Becka herself has a propensity for flying off the handle and acting quite melodramatic herself.

The ending, though I won't spoil it here, is much more ambiguous and creepy than the norm, and very much in keeping with the rest of the book's tone. Of course, most readers hated the ending, and a competition was even created where readers could submit their own ideas for the sequel. The sequel was much more routine and silly, with no ambiguity, and Honey was just a flat-out psycho.

But with many of years of hindsight aiding this review, I can easily say The Best Friend is one of R.L. Stine's more ambitious and clever tales, written just before his output reached ridiculous proportions, rendering most future stories rushed, predictable and dumb.

Yes I did like this book because I liked how Honey tried to prove to Becka's best friend back in 3rd grade and Becka didn't believe her because she didn't ever remember having a friend called Honey.

This book is these 2 girls called Becka and Honey. Honey moves into the house next door to Becka's house and Becka didn't believe her because when she went over to get Honey to give her back her parrot pin and the nobody is there so it looks like Honey lied to Becka. Ever since Honey moved into the next door to Becka's Honey practically takes over Becka's house and is at Becka's house every second. These bad things keep happening and Becka accuses Honey of doing them. The first bad thing that happens is that when Becka and her friends are out riding their bikes. Lilah and a truck collide and Lilah gets hurt. Then Becka's locker gets trashed and she blames it on Honey but it was really a whole group of boys who did it. Then Becka gets invited to a party and Honey shows up uninvited and pushes Trish down the stairs.

I recommend this book to anybody who likes scary books.

I give thise book four stars. I give it four stars because it is entertaining but it has a BAD ending. The ending sucks. The whole book is very entertaining. I had to make my self put it down. I read it in two days. That is how good it was. It's not scary at all. The ending is very stupid. I won't give it away. But if you hate books with a bad ending then this book is NOT for you. The Best Friend 2 is a wonderful book too, but it also has a BAD ending.

Will that phone call be her last? Read to find out.I liked this book because it was really full of suspense and I liked it. Another reason was because it was like a mystery and you kept on wanting to read to find out and I like how R.L Stine makes his books.

Call Waiting is about a girl named Karen. Karen has a boyfriend named Ethan. Ethan wanted to break up with Karen. Then Karen started getting phone calls that said that someone she knows is going to cut her thoat and kill her. Every time Ethan is on the phone with Karen the person always calls. I do not like how the writer R.L Stine makes it look like it is one person but then it isn't. Karen got so crazy over one boy that she went crazy. You would not like this book if you do not like twists and turns. You would not like this book if you do not like mysteries. That is what Call Waiting is about.

R.L. Stine, you've done it again! This story is about Bobby Newkirk who thinks he's the man because he can get all the girls he wants. He dates both Bree and Samantha, which are twins to prove so. But things start going horribly wrong, and Bobby Newkirk learns a little lesson.
I've always loved R.L. Stine's books. He wrote another good one. Way to go, Mr. Stine!

This was the first Fear Street book I read. When I read a couple of others, I realized there was something missing in this one: a good ending. but i still rate it 4 stars since it's really intense in all the other parts of the book.
so basically, the book is about Bobby Newkirk, the guy that thinks he's like a God's gift to women. His friend dares him to date both of the Wade twins-Bree and Samantha-who recently moved to Shadyside.
The Wade twins look the same, but act completely different. While Bree is quiet and shy, Samantha is bold and daring. And they will put Bobby through a lot of trouble.
I like the concept of twins and all the mystery in the book. I like all of it except for the ending. well the ending is quite fun, but it doesn't have a shocking value all the other Fear Street books have.

it was an alright book

The book was about a teenage guy. Who's name was Bobby. He was like a High school hottie. Every girl wanted him, but he only dated girls because he wanted to keep a reputation for going out with the most girls in school. Then one day he was walking to his band practice. Because his guitar player in a band with his two best friends. Well they were practicing the Wade twin's walk in the autotorium.
Then Bobby's friend Adrian says "I bet you can't get the twins in the same week." Then Bobby was crazy enough to take the bet and so he said, "yes." So when he saw them he asked then both say yes. About the twins now one is shy her name is Bree. The others name is Samantha and she is the out going one. Bobby goes out with Bree first and, Sam was the 2nd date. Well Bobby is going out with both, Samantha is the only one who knows that he is doing this to both of them.
Well Bobby is on a date with Sam she keeps asking Bobby to break up with Bree, but he wont. So now things get crazy someone is trying to kill Bobby and he finds out who is doing this to him. It is the twin's third sister. So now he knows that they are actually triplets. The third sister's name is Jenelynn and is like the evil one. Well she try's to kill Bobby because she does not want one of her other sisters to get him. So Jenlynn takes Bobby to a cabin in the woods. When she leads him in to the cabinet, she ties him up in a chair so she can try to kill him with cannibal ants. Well she does this to Bobby she leaves and well she is gone he gets free. Then gets off all the ants and runs out the door. Well trying to figure out where he is a car comes toward him he thinks its Jenlynn, but it's Melinda an old girlfriend of his.
Well when she picks him up they talk. Bobby wanted to go to the police but Melinda suggests going to the Wade twin's house and Bobby says "Yeah." When they got there all of the girls Bobby ever went out with and treated wrong were there. Bobby didn't aspect this. Then he finds out that it was all a set up to get back at him for all the horrible things that he did to the girls. He found out there was never a third sister and that the twins already knew he was going out with both. So now he learns his lesion and now he does not go out with all the girls and his band is now broken up. Well the girls don't talk to him anymore too.

Review Date: 2002-09-12
Unlike the first several books in the series and many of the books that were to come in the Goosebumps 2000 series, this book really wasn't very spooky or scary. Jordan and his sister Nicole get to go to Alaska with their Dad because he has been paid to photograph an Abominable Snowman. Jordan and his sister are besides themselves because they have never seen snow and now they are going to be able to see it for the first time. However, while staying in a cabin in the frozen northern wilderness, the family's guide takes off with all the family's food and supplies while the Dad is taking some pictures of a frozen stream. The kids chase the guide, but end up getting lost and fall into the lair of the Abominable Snowman.

The story flows together really smoothly and there aren't any plotholes. There are a few things that don't make too much sense, however. And the story is not scary at all, leaving me without any goosebumps. Still it's a good story and makes for a decent read. Not R.L. Stine's greatest, but not too shabby, either.

I thought it was great but the ending was too fast and confusing... I mean like when Becka was telling Bill " I will be a good friend" i didnt know if it was Honey acting like Becka or just Becka saying that. Like it was sad, but I didnt get it. did Bill die? or did he live?? I think it was too fast of an ending so im rating it four stars, and i really really really hope you make a new book called " The Best Friend 3". so i hope you know that it was too fast of an ending. it is the day b4 thanksgiving (11/26/03) and i just read it last night. im only 11 yrs old.

Then I think it's awesome how you had a contest like this one, letting young readers such as myself use their imaginations and actually have a shot at writing a book worthy of being on the same shelf as your other masterpieces! I think this book was good considering you didn't write it! I mean, a lot of people didn't like this book because they were expecting something as original and creative as your first one and like all your other amazing stories. But I, for one, think that this book was good overall. Very different. I love all your books, I've read almost all of them--My mother won't buy me anymore at the moment because she says I have to finish the ones I have first--and they're all excellent! Cheers to you! To me this book was a huge dissapointment. First of all i thought this book would be a little more scary than todd just finding worms in all his stuff and then the thing that happens at the end, which by the way I found a little lame. This book was a huge let down.I know that Mr.Stine can right way better books than this one.If your looking for a good goosebumps to read, read a good goosebumps like the curse of camp cold lake, but don't waste your money on this book. I'm glad that all the other goosebumps books are fabulous and great, because this one just didn't work out for me. I think that if Stine wanted to write a book about worms he could have had a scarier story than just worms showing up everywhere. I wouldn't give this book a one because it wasn't like the worst book in the world, it just wasn't too good.Don't read this book, if your looking for an awesome and spectacular goosebumps.

I wish I could say this book was great.Yet it was awful. The book revoles around Tina Rivers who wants nothing more than to spend the weekend with her Boyfriend Josh at Patterson College.Yet her parents won't let her go unless her cousin Holly goes too,No big deal.Only when they arrived at the train platform Josh is not waiting like he promised.Instead his roomate Chistopher is and he says Josh is in the mountains.Yet Tina thinks why would Josh got Hiking in the mountains when he knew she was coming to visit. So he takes them to Josh's dorm to wait. Then a girl named Carla shows up and also claims Josh is with her Boyfriend Steve in the mountains.Holly then asks Carla if Christopher has a girlfriend.Carla then tells a sad story of how Chris and his girlfriend Judy were on a boat and Judy fell over and died. From here the story gets really boring from Tina searching for Josh to supposed phone calls about car trouble. To Holly disappering. To finally finding out Christopher is'nt as nice as he seems and that Tina may never see Josh again.

Tina and her cousin Holly visit Tina's boyfriend Josh on Patterson College. Tina can't wait to see him, but when they arrive nobody is there. After a while Josh's roommate Chris takes them from the train station. He tells them, Josh is still on a camping trip in the mountains and can't come back, because of snow. Tina is disappointed, but soon Holly and Chris persuade her to come to a party with them. There Tina loses Holly and is alone with Chris, who seems to become more and more interested in her - and doesn't interested in finding Holly. But Tina has to think of Josh so often and when she kisses Chris she feels very sorry and starts to miss Josh even more. In fact Tina starts to see signs that show her that Josh can't be on a camping trip. Chris or his friend Carla? Anybody lies and Tina has to find out!
So, that's a "short" version of this book. But, of course, I don't tell, who the "murderer" is like some other reviewers.
I hope i could help you with your decision for buying this book. I really recommend it, but the beginning is a bit boring - so, 4 Stars!

This is the one of the many books of the Fear Street series, and it's just okay. Fear Street is a series about scary and/or supernatural events that happen to teenagers in a ficitional town called Shadyside. In this book, a shy unpopular girl becomes friends with the in crowd after they learn that she lives next door to a hated teacher and her mom's rarely home. The dare is simple, she's dared to shoot him. Will she do it? If she doesn't, will they still be her friends? This has a pretty good twist ending and gives a good taste of future books in the series.Pulitizer material it's not, but for young teens, or anyone wanting a quick thrilling read, this suits the bill just fine.

I thought that in this book that you already know who the killer is but you really don't. It was good, not so bad. I think that if i had to choose between this and "Cat" by R.L. Stine. It would be a tie. But it was great and everything and I liked it. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

The dare is kind of like a book that you want to read it. I would rate this book a 5 star because R.L. Stine is my favorite author and he's done a great job writing this book. You've gotta read this book. The Dare is about a girl named Jonnah and she can do anything to go out with the school's most popular boy. so when Dennis asks her out, she can't belive it,and she says "Yes!"
Now Jonnah can do anything to keep hanging around with her cool boyfriend and her cool friends. So when Dennis dares Jonnah to Kill their teacher, she dosen't say "No!" She says "Yes!" Do you think Jonnah is going to do what her COOL boyfriend and frinds tell her to do? If you want to know what is going to happen just read this book and you will be proud of yourself for reading this book. I recommend this book to all those people who likes mysterys and love stories. This is something you have got to read. R.L. Stine ROCKS!!

I DARE YOU TO READ THIS BOOK!

This book was pretty good. I liket it. But it was pretty scary! It was about a girl who lived next door to her History teacher on Fear Street and her friends dared her to kill him with a gun. Then she lets some of her friends come over and then one of them got shot and didn't die. Then the girl gets the gun and tries to shoot her teacher. Then she heard a loud bang. When the cops came her friends were there and she didn't do it after all. They knew that it was the boy from her class because her teacher had a tape recorder and everything was recorded and they thought that the teacher was dead but he still alive.

WHO WANTS TO PLAY A GAME OF TRUTH OR DARE? I DARE YOU!
