If you are looking for a slasher horror type of book this is a pretty good choice. I like the fact that Stine always has you thinking the killer is someone and then it turns into someone completely different, usually its almost impossible to guess who it is. I read almost all of his Fear Street books when i was younger and i decided to get this from the library eariler this summer for a second read. I also like the fact that the emotions of the people in the acting camp are pretty real. Jealousy, competition, nerves and pressure - and thats without someone whose out to kill you!

This book starts out very weird, but then you know what's going on. I think it was pretty good, except there are too many surprises. You think someone dies when he or she doesn't. Or you think the main character will die in the next chapter, but I think it was not bad at all.

The book Curtains by R.L. Stine is a wonderful book. It was interesting and very simple, yet moving. When I started reading the book, surprisingly, it pulled me into its world of mystery and horror. I felt as though I was the main character in the story. The way the author used descriptive language really made me visualize what actually happen in the story. I liked the characters in the story. My favorite character was Rena. I felt the same pain she felt in the story. In Curtains Rena hid a dark secret she developed three years ago. She thought it would be hidden for good, but when Rena came to a summer theater camp, she was given the star role of the play, Curtains. During an onstage performance, a Broadway director drives Rena's secret out of her. Because of her star role, she is the envy of the evil and malevolent Hedy, who promised her she would never play the star role. After the performance scary things start happening to Rena. If you want to find out more, read the story. I recommend this book to young adults who like horror, drama and suspense. Like R.L. Stine's book The Confession, Curtains is a book that pulls you into its own world. I think R.L. Stine is a great author, and I hope he writes more books for kids to read.

Intense, competitive, Lily Bancroft had good reasons to hate him. She lives to win, and he was about to destroy her dreams. But murder? That was going too far, even for someone as driven as Lily.
She's innocent. But that hasn't stopped the whispers behind her back. Or the weird phone calls late at night. Then someone else is brutally murdered and suddenly Lily is drawn into nightmare she can't begin to control. Will her final grade be her last?

Fear Street books are not that good.

This book was great and it was so full of action that I couldn't put it down. The only problem I had was the intense violence. I mean things like when a certian person is crushed in a printing press was really gross. Still a great read.

This book is about a boy named Gabe who goes to Egypt on a plane to visit his uncle, Ben. But when he gets there his uncle takes him into an ancient pyramid. He falls into a trap with big, white, crawling spiders. Then one night Uncle Ben told Gabe an ancient six word poem that was going to bring Prince Kho-ru back to life. The words are: Taki Khoru, Taki Khori, Taki Khora. Suddenly, a strong wind started to blow. What do you think happened? Read this book to find out. I would recommend this book because I like reading about Egypt, and I think other kids will too. My favorite part was when Gabe got bitten by an old beetle because it was scary.

Return Of the Mummy's Tomb is a very good book for ages 9-12. Kids will like it because it is about mummys and kids my age are in to these characters.

The best part of the book in my opinion is when Nila stole Gabe's mummy hand to summon her brother from the dead as a mummy. Another good part in the book was when Nila commanded the mummy to kill the kids so no witneses were left. When the mummy went after the kids' he had a death grip on his sister's neck and said, "LET ME REST IN PEACE". The other part I thought was good is when Gabe and Sarri thought their Uncle Ben was killed.

I enjoyed this book because it was a topic I am interested in. I like to read about supernatural ideas like a mummy's, magic, dragon's, and dinosaurs.

One of R.L. Stines best of the Goosebumps books. Like most of his books, it ends with a scare, but it's not scary(Though I don't find many Books that a meant to be scary Scary). It is a good book and has a good storyline. Of course like most Mummy stories it involves Archiolegest breaking into some tomb, but who else(besides a Robber) would break in?

I think this is one of best, if not the best Goosebump book yet.

Halloween Night 2 is by no means as good as the first, in matter of fact, it was pretty bad. Halloween Night 2 is a predictable, unscary read, making reader's forget that R.L. Stine is a true horror talent. I don't know why he wrote this, but it seemed like the it was just put out for money, the killer was predictable, even though it made no sense as to why the killer was going around killing. Now if this sounds confusing, that's how the book is. Now the reason why I gave 3 stars is that when I read this book I must have been 12 or 13 and hadn't read that much so the book appeared to be alright, but then I read the first Halloween Night and was completely blown away, putting Halloween Night 2 in a much lower ranking than I had before. Another reason why I gave it a three was due to the cover, you have got to admit the cover does look pretty cool! All in All, only purchase this book if you are trying to collect R.L. Stine books otherwise just pass it up, it really isn't worth it

Her boy friend cheated on her with her cosin. Then she is at the mall and a fat man is chasing her and trying to kill her. Nobody belives her except her friedns. Then a very unexpected thing happened. But the ending will leave you scared toleave your door open at night.I rated this book a 3 out of 5 only becauseit waslike all other horrer/thrillers. Over all I would reconmend it to kids in 6th grade and up.

I read the book called Halloween Night by. R.L. Stine. I gave this book 4 stars because it is very suspensful and it draws you in more and more every page. The characters aren't who they seem to be and the plot gets thicker every chapter! It is about this girl named Brenda and her friends Traci and Dina that hate Brenda's cousin Halley. They are out to get her, it seems innocent enough until something goes wrong! Her plan backfires. Now the bad things are being done to her! But by whom? Is it Halley, the jealous cousin? Is it Traci.. her best friend? Or is it Dina, the one you would least suspect? You'll have to find out for yourself and check out the book Halloween Night by R.L.Stine.

"Halloween Night II" takes place the following Halloween after "Halloween Night". Brenda, the main character, has two best friends, Traci and Angela. (Traci and Dina were her two best friends in the first book.) Brenda's cousin, Halley, still lives with Brenda, and is still a pest; Brenda's parents are still very unsensitive to Brenda's irritability. Halley is still stealing boyfriends.

The media tells about a maniac in town that is on the loose. And when Brenda is at the mall, she sees a shady-looking man who chases her, and then comes to her house and knocks. She thinks this man is the maniac. He absolutely terrifies her.

Brenda is getting Halloween horror pranks (rotten meat, worms, threatening notes, etc.) again this year. She is determined to find out who is doing it.

Brenda is upset with her boyfriend Jake for going out with Halley. But on Halloween, Brenda, Traci, and Jake all dress up as skeletons. Brenda and Traci, with Angela's help, have horror plans for Jake on Halloween . . .

I have never read such a horrible book in my entire life. The main character is terrible. Craig Morgenstern is a disgrace to all literature. It is the worst developed character in a goosebumps book ever...this book is easily a mockery to anyone who calls themselves an author.

Nope, definitely not terrified yet.

This book is just awful. This book is hard to believe and highly highly implausible. Craig Morgenstern is unlikable, and the whole situation is strange and frustrating. There are no scary parts or horror fun, but the main character does manage to get bitten endless times by tarantulas and deal just fine. This book makes me groan and shake my head in disgust. Please don't waste your time. R.L.Stine is at his worst - I am definitely not terrified yet.

I loved this book! It is totally great! This is the best Goosebumps 2000 book I have read! It keeps you wondering what thier going to challenge him with. It took me a little while to understand the ending though. One of the best parts was the end when they were in the funeral parlor. The scariest part was the end when the other boy thought his brother wasn't one of the dead corpes!! This book makes me want to read it over and over again!! By Jarel

This is the third in R.L Stein's Nightmare Room series, which is a fine series of what I'll dub horror-lite, I believe the author is giving a tip of the hat to The Twilight Zone TV series, as each story begins with a very Twilight Zone-esque opening...which you can find in the publisher description on this same page. I rather like this about the series, and all three I have read thus far take a stab at recreating some of the startling, strange and just plain bizarre happenings (so Twilight Zone-ish...also like The Outer Limits, of more recent times) in the lives of the unfortunate soul who happens to be unlucky enough to enter the Nightmare Room.

This volume we encounter Maggie, a shy girl celebrating her 13th birthday with her three best friends in the whole world (the three J's) whom she has known since she was 4 years old. Maggie is just like any other 13 year old; she's trying on her newly minted teenage identity and just trying to have a good time. Her friends take her to the carnival to celebrate and there she encounters the boy she has a crush on (and who one of her friends played a vicious prank on last year) and then is told by a fortune teller that he is evil. The girls laugh it off, but as the story progresses, something terrible is starting to happen and just about everything Maggie touches turns out all wrong. We follow her through a rather bizarre series of "accidents" which lead more and more of Maggie's friends to really believe that she is EVIL! The story, like the others before it, always has a surprise waiting at the end...is Maggie truly evil and out to destroy her friend? Will Maggie survive her trip into the Nightmare Room?

This, for me, was the least subtle of the three I have read so far. It's pretty straight forward in the telling, the reader will find themselves unable to put the book down...each turn of events leaves us asking...it couldn't get WORSE, could it? But yes, it can...and does! The events just keep escalating in a series of accidents that keep us reading to see what's going to happen next. Aside from not being subtle at all, it's also got the least twisted ending...it does have what I think is turning into a "signature twist" at the end, but it's not all that surprising and it's certainly not subtle, you'd have to be pretty thick not to see this one coming, but still...it does have creep factor and the main character is more sympathetic than in the previous books...that is to say that I felt her pain at losing her friends more keenly than I felt the emotions of the main character in either of the other two, so that was a definite bonus! The first book remains my favorite...this one get a B+ from me, simply because it was a bit heavy handed in the building up to the climax and the ending wasn't all that much of a surprise to me. Looking forward to reading more of this series!

Fans of R.L. Stine's popular Goosebumps series -- probably older now -- will like his brand new NIGHTMARE ROOM series, still sticking with the familiar scares (and laughs) type of style. Though I think his 'scares' are quite funny, this book reflects the writing of the Goosebumps series on perhaps just a notch above the old level. My Name Is Evil is the third installment in this series. Maggie was just an ordinary girl trying to have fun on her thirteenth birthday with her friends. She never really thought she had any evil or darkness in her heart. But that was until she met Miss Elizabeth, the Fortune Teller at the local carnival. From then on, her evil began to get worse, though she can't stop it. The friends she always had are turning against her because of her strange evil powers. Maggie doesn't know what's happening to her, or why she suddenly has evil powers on her thirteenth birthday. Nothing will prepare her for the big surprise in store for her. Before anything else happens, Maggie must do something to stop her evil -- before her world falls apart in front of her eyes.

"Twelve ultra-smart, ultra-competitive kids have been selectedto take part in a survival competition called Life Games.

Not only will they have to overcome the dangers of life on atropical island, they'll also have to face the evil presence thatlives there ... waiting for its next victim.

What Scares You the Most?

April is stranded on the island! She's desperate to escape and get back to her normal life. But April's life will never be normal again. Because someone -- or something -- evil will follow her home, using her deepest fears against her." -- From The Book Description

Pretty Good, but not near as fast paced as the first book, unfortunately. Actually, the title DOES have something to do with the book, but the cover does not (not that I can find!). I still think the book is good, so I recommend it for readers 8+.

I think this book is the best book in America. I read a lot of R.L. Stine books, I read them every day. I read this whole book in less than a day. And I am not kidding, you better believe me. I especially liked the part where the danger followed April from the island back to her home. I can't wait for "No Survivors" to come out.

They Call Me Creature is the fifth book in the Nightmare Room series and in this volume we join Laura Atkins animal love and nature enthusiast on a horrifying journey into animal experimentation with a strange twist you can only get by entering The Nightmare Room. Laura lives in the country with her father who is a vet and loves walking in the woods and seeing the plants and animals...she's' even working on science project for the ecosystem around the lake in the woods, but she's been hearing strange sounds in the woods and there just aren't any animals around to photograph. Even more disturbing is that her father is spending all his time out in the shed since he lost his job...he's not as nice to her, losing his temper with ever increasing frequency.

Laura enlists the help of his dad's old boss and is trying to become friends with the cute new boy in the area, Joe. So much going on and as the woods become more frightening will Laura be able to figure out exactly what's going on in the woods? With her father? Will Joe come to her birthday party? You'll have to read to find out.

Overall, this is one of the better Nightmare Room books. It's got a couple of the signature Twilight Zone-esque twists, there's actually a bit of atmosphere and well, with suspension of belief, the events are actually scary. I give it four stars. They Call Me Creature is a solid horror story that delivers chills!

This book makes you literally hold your breath.R.L. Stine keeps you guessing of the up coming events in the story. I really liked the book for that and the fact that it was a mystery book really made me interested. I recommend this book to mystery lovers.

Really Cool!

Laura is the daughter of divorced parents. She and her father, a vetenarian, love animals and the woods. That's why their home is situated near the forest. Laura is pretty happy with this life until strange things start to happen. She comes across odd creatures that scare her. She hears cries from the forest at night, and her father starts to behave strangely, and she loses trust in him.

I, personally, found this book to be very exciting. The girls did as well. (These girls are all about aged 9.) The other mothers, however, found it too gruesome to stomach. This definitely isn't a book for those with weak stomachs.

Great potential but ultimately a flop.

When I was reading the first half of the book, I was so psyched because it was so cool. The idea was a great one and could have been one of R.L.Stine's greatest. But in the last few chapters, it became increasingly disappointing leading to the awful ending. I wish I could give this one a good review.
