I couldn't put this book down. It only took me about 75 minutes to read and it was really suspensful all the way through. It left out a bit of important information but it was good. A total speed-read. Very easy to get through. That's pretty much all I can say about this.

Lucky for Us, This is Quite Good! :-)

Locker 13, the second book in R.L. Stein's Nightmare Room Series is something a bit different than the first book, which I felt was genuinely chilling and frightful. Both books (and I imagine the entire series, but I'm only on book #2, after all) open with a Twilight Zone-esque introduction, which I rather like. This particular volume focuses on Luke, who happens to be quite superstitious and not all that lucky. Rather than make his own way, he relies on his lucky shirt, lucky sandwich, lucky rabbits foot...he's got a lucky item for darn near every occasion! He's also fond of rubbing his lucky shirt 7 times and squeezing his rabbits foot in multiples of three for increased luck. His best friend is the luckiest person he knows...winning things, finding money, and just plain ol' lucky on a daily basis.

The story follows Luke through the year, after the first day, when he is unlucky enough to be assigned locker 13...poor unlucky Luke...how will this unlucky start color his year? Read and find out.

Luke doesn't seem to see the world in terms of effort put out or innate skills...he sees it as having luck or not having it and if you haven't got it, he seems to think he's less than a zero. I find the whole story interesting and suspenseful, but not chilling or outright scary. This one is more of a moralistic tale...with a pretty standard moral tale ending...whereas the first book (Don't Forget Me) had a less straight forward ending (typical Twilight Zone, non-committal, open to more weirdness than solid closure for the story)...which is what I really liked about it, it introduces readers to the less than clear ending for story lines. This book is not like that, it has definite closure, though sitting here thinking about it...one could make a case for that not being entirely true, based on the penny incident at the very end. If that is the case, then the weirdness is more subtle in this second volume and that's cool too, though less sophisticated readers might not pick up on it (and clearly I almost fell into that category myself).

Overall, I liked it, though it's not as creepy as the first (for my taste), it is suspenseful and definitely an interesting story line. The main character could have been a little more developed, so we could more easily identify with him, but not bad at all! A fine addition to a budding line of creepy tales. It should be interesting to see where Stein goes with additional volumes!

This is a great book and if you're a fan of the series Goosebumps (By R.L. Stine) you'll just love this tale of a boy who just happens to get the unlucky locker 13. I really think you should read this book because it's a great mildly scary book!

Would you be afraid of your own locker?Luke was afraid of his locker because he heared crying. He always has bad luck but not intil now when he finds a skull. He brought that skull to basketball practice
and shot 10 hoops in a row. When basketball practices were done he went back to his locker and heared that crying in his locker. So he opened his locker and found a cat.A lady coming down the stairs were looking for a cat. So luke told the lady and he got a reward for $100.00.Right after that day he started having bad luck.
I recommend this book to anyone that loves R.L. Stines books.

I haven't had the pleasure of reading the first one, but when I read this one in 1996....it was worth the time! I enjoyed it from start to finish and the idea of a roller-coaster time machine was different like everyone else has stated. I appreciate R.L. Stein for this book of its time!

I haven't read the first of the two, but based on this one, I know that I will be faced with something cool and creepy by the time I get The Beast. I liked this one a lot. I liked the idea of travelling through time on a very famous roller coaster, and I really liked how this story played out. I liked the characters, and overall I really enjoyed this book a lot. It's a good read!

Not as good as the first one....

Once again James and Ashley find themselves back in the 1930's at Firelight Park. But this time, they are dealing with a the barker of a freak sideshow who wants to put them in his show because they are from the future.

Great book, great story, but IMO does not compare to the first one.

It was a normal day. James and Ashley just got done riding the Beast. Ashley says she wants to ride the Beast again. James decides to ride the Beast. So Ashley and James right away got on the Beast in the front car. The ride started. After the first hill they started to scream really loud. After the ride James looks over to see that Ashley is not there.
Later on in the book James is still looking for P.D. He finds P.D later on at the Beast. He asks P.D. what to do he says to get one the Beast in Ashleys spot. The ride begins. James starts to scream his head off. All of a sudden he's in a different world.

Some man pulls him out of a capsule. He puts me in some weird space close. I noticed that I was in the past. He walked him down a hallway. He past a kid in a water tank. He looked like a fish. He said, " Run!" James tried to escape. He put him in a cage pulled some curtains. A whole crowd was in front of him. He looked over to see Ashley.

The whole crowd was asking them questions. The other kids in the cage were answering questions. After the a while the show ended. They had 20 minutes to rest.

Later on in the book Ashley and James escaped and ran around the carnival. People were looking at them weird.

They were looking for the Beast. They never found it and ran back to were the came from. The Doctor was made. So the thought of another way. Ashley thought that the could get there close. That was it they went in were the capsule was. As soon as they got there they started to search for there close. Ashley called James over. She had found there close. They went back to their room, and changed. The doctor had came in and saw there close. He said he was going to turn them into a different time. Put them in the capsule. James reversed knobs. The Doctor opened the door to the time machine. He grabbed Ashley, but it was too late. Ashley and James had returned to there time. As they got back they saw Fire works in the sky.

I thought this book was an interesting book. The book was interesting because they would excape form the Doctor I always thought what would happened when they came back. I recommend it for people who like to read Adventure.

A great beginner novel for less advanced readers looking for some edge...

In my preteens R.L. Stine was probably the one author that monopolized my bookshelf. His `Goosebumps' series was a big hit among the kids my age and we all would sit around and trade books until we had all read every book he'd written in the series. Once that was accomplished we all wanted more, something with more teeth and luckily for us Stine had also written a series of books for the teen reader, books with a little more edge and some more realistic fears.

`The Snowman' was the first book I'd read outside of the `Goosebumps' series written by Stine and I must admit to having been hooked. It was not what I expected but in a way I was grateful for that. There were no monsters, demons or ghosts involved, just human terror. It's not that this is a gruesome serial killer type novel, although the main villain is a bit of a serial killer/stalker, but the novel is a much slower paced psychological thriller of sorts.

I know, believe me, that that sounds stupid when in reference to a novel of this caliber. It's not a masterpiece by any means and it's in no way shape or form even comparable to the greats or even to the great writers of modern horror and or suspense, but in its own unique way `The Snowman' is somewhat of a stepping stone into deeper, darker more disturbing waters. It's like the `Silence of the Lambs' for beginners, the novel you read before you get into the better more accessible novels.

So, in closing, if you're an avid reader of more advanced better written horror and or literature in general then steer clear away from this novel, but if you're a young reader wanting to expand your reading library with novels that offer a bit of a bite without devouring you whole then this a great place to start. It'll prepare you for the harsher reality to come.

When I was younger I would only read books by R.L. Stine, and `The Snowman' was the first that I read that wasn't of the `Goosebumps' fame. `The Snowman' is an effective thriller for young adults for it really delivers some good chills and tense moments. Heather is living with her Uncle James, a man she can't stand, but when she meets a stranger named Bill her life begins to change. Bill seems to be just what she needed, but Bill does so much more than come between her and her boyfriend, he starts to pick apart her life, body by body. At times downright chilling, `The Snowman' is recommended to any teenager looking to break into more mainstream horror, break away from the docile stuff and read something with a little more backbone. Sure, it's no Stephen King, but this is a good jumpstart.

This book was [no good]! The reason why I think The Snowman by R.L.Stine is boring is because nothing happens at all in this book! And besides you know that snowman on the cover, well the book doesn't even have anything to do with a snowman! the only part in the book that has to do with a snowman is that a boy that Heather meets with the nickname of snowman takes Heather to a special and beautiful secret place in the forest next to the park and they got the idea to build a snowman, and that is the only part is the story that has to do with a snowman. So I have no clue why in the world the book is called The Snowman...

Have you ever seen your food disappear without you eating it? Well this happened to Sammy in this book. This book is about how a boy named Sammy notices weird things are going on around his house. No one wants to believe him. Sammy doesn't know who or what it is until he meets it and becomes its friend. Read this book and find out what happens to Sammy and his so called NEW FRIEND.
I love this book because it made me want to read more. When it came to the end of the story I wanted to know more. It left me wondering what would happen next. I recommend it to those who like mystery books or books about monsters. When you read this book you will be surprised to see all the monsterous things that occur!

One of a kind from R.L.Stine's gooesbumps series

Review Date: 2005-07-02
This book is certainly one of a kind.

Another great book by R.L.Stine, and this is one of my favorite books. Whether you like science fiction or not, you will still like this book if you're goosebumps/R.L.Stine fan.

Sammy Jacob is into ghosts and science fiction. Not exactly the smartest hobby- at least not if you ask Sammy's parents. They're research scientists and they only believe in REAL science.
But now Sammy's met someone who's totally unreal. He's hanging out in Sammy's room. And eating his cereal at breakfast. Sammy's got to find a way to get rid of his new "friend" Only problem is... Sammy's new friend is invisible! (From the back of the book)

The reason why I like this book so much has to be the ending. I mean, the storyline is great. But the ending is very twisted, funny, and for me, cool. I often wonder how R.L.Stine gets his ideas.

To people who don't like Goosebumps because its not scary. What do you expect? It's for 7 - 12 year old kids, meaning not very frightening but a mysterious ending. Goosebumps is a mystery book in a sort way, because every time you read goosebumps series, you wonder how the storyline is going to be connected to the ending. I started to read goosebumps at the age of 8, and never once did I thought goosebumps was scary. (I read almost every book of the Original Goosebumps Series). But I still love goosebumps, and R.L.Stine is the authour that made me wanting to be an authour. So the bottom line is, don't read goosebumps if you want chill on your back. If you want a chill, I'd say watch the movie "The Grudge". LOL!

Anyways, this book gets 5 star for great storyline, ok characterism, and some-what cool ending. =)

This is an awesome Fear Street book. With such gruesome details feels like your watching a movie.

This is the sequel to The Stepsister. A chilling story of a girl named Emily who keeps having near death experiences. She knows it's Jessie her new stepsister. But when she finds her beloved sister trying to kill her, things take a turn for the worst. Finally, when her parents also witness an attack brought on by Nancy, she is sentenced to a year in the mental hospital. But know Nancy's back and she's madder than ever.

This is a YA book with a topic kind of hard to follow mainly because of the random switching from character to character. Also there is many twists in the book that completely change the whole book around. This book is mainly at the Seventh and Eighth grade level of reading.

She's back and she is cured.

"Is his girlfriend back from the dead?". Annie was a city girl who just moved to a small town. She started to go to Shoklin High School. That is where all the trouble began.
Annie just met Jonathan, but horrified at first. Jonathan's best friend was Caleb, who was going out with dawn, Annie's new best friend. Lousia and Ruby were Jonathan's Ex-girlfriends, but Lousia is dead. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. There were so many things going on. Some parts were confusing, but you would catch on and be suprised. This book was suspenceful and very detailed. If you like thrillers, this is definetly a book for you!

R.L. Stine's The Dead Girlfriend is a surprisingly good, entertaining, book. As a fan of horror movies I found this book to be very close to the Wes Craven movie Shocker, although there are major differences, such as there is no huge serial killer who can jump in and out of TVs! As a guy, I did enjoy the book and think that it is one of R.L. Stine's best, way better than any of the Goosebumps books he wrote. However I suggest reading Stine's Halloween Night before this one, and I absolutely, positively recommend that you read any or all of Eric Morse's Friday the 13th series, especially the Carnival because they are some of the best books of this genre I have ever read!!!

Okay your this kid who goes in a comic shop and you touch this rack and turn into a comic or you can go down the stairs and get stuck in a maze. How about the last choice don't read this book. At first glance it seems like it would be good but it's not. If you turn into a comic it seems incomplet and the best ending leaves you puzzled. And when you get stuck in the maze well the whole storyline of that is dumb. The only reson it gets a 2 is because you might if you tried get a small bit of entertainment but not much and unless you love Goosebumps and have read every other Goosebumps book ever three times would you want to buy this book. R.L. Stine tried but didn't live up to his other books this had so much promise but was only disappointing. Readers just skip this one.

The spoiled brat daughter of the owner a department store chain is kidnapped? R. L. Stine is a good writer: by the time the bad guys get
her we are halfway hoping they will!
He raises sympathy for the poor guy and his girl who are broke at
Christmas. It appears this is the second time things have gone wrong for Reva at Christmas. She tries to steal her cousin Pam's boyfriend Victor
and at her job at the department store she is rude to customers.
In short we get to dislike her. Pam gets kidnapped by mistake and makes a deal for her life. Ambushed at Pam's Reva is ironically taken to her Father's store. The brother of the first two kidnappers is
a real criminal type who breaks Reva's arm and knocks out Pam with a slap.
After escaping from the store room where they are held, they are chased
until the FBI gets there following a trace of the call demanding money for Reva. As well written as it is the story is kind of more funny that
scary? You are kind of left thinking that Reva didn't get
much more than she deserved...?

As a way to get money and revenge for being fired at Dalby's Department Store, Paul "Pres" Nichols, his girlfriend (Diane Morris), and older brother (Danny) plan on holding the owner's daughter (Reva Dalby) for ransom--except everything that could go wrong does, like kidnapping the wrong girl: Reva's poor cousin, Pam Dalby, one of the few characters who makes a reappearance from the previous book. Almost all the other characters in here are new. Like in the first "Silent Night," Reva isn't in the forefront of this sequel very much (a lot of time is spent on the kidnappers), though she is still as cruel as ever, apparently not learning her lesson from a year ago.

If you liked this book, then you'll probably enjoy the other two: "Silent Night" and "Silent Night 3."

Reva Dalby is back to her mean self and is going to get what she deserves. I liked this book because it reminded me of real life as a teenager and how kids are desperate for money. It was hard to put the book down because it always left you hanging after each chapter. It was funny to read what Reva was doing to people and how sly she was with getting out of trouble. I would recommend this for tenagers who like thrill and suspence.

Twisted is a perfect title for this book, a girl Named Abby is motivated to get into the tri gamma sorority. Abby is a pledge there and on the weekend where the upperclassmen take the pledges away for a weekend is were things get really TWISTED. on the trip the pledges were forced to commit a crime to get into the pledge, and during this life changing confusing time, a lot of personal information was released and it seemed like the pledges made a sorority of truth with each other. I would suggest this to a age between 10 and 18 it had the childs horror with some weird twists for older kids. I would suggest this book to anyone in this age range and give it 4 stars

Good but Kind of confusing....

The story is about a girl named Abby who wants to be in the tri gam. She along with other girls are challenged to commit a crime to get into Tri gam. Also loads of personal issues become involved in the story. I thought the story was really well-written. Although I kinda suspected what was goin' on in the middle of the story I was still surprise by the end of it (this is the only reason why I gave it only four stars). This was a really good story and keeps you pageturning. RECOMMENDED.

I became crazy about this book the first time I read it. I started to read the story again and again until I read it about five times. I had the worst nightmares a kid could ever have.I got completely stuck in this book. Its my favorite book from the whole collection of the goosebumps books.I wish R.L.Stine writes more gruesome books.

I'm still thirsty

Brain Juice trails away from the usual format of Goosebumps books, taking the point of view from aliens Morggul and Gobbul, bent on taking Earthlings back to their home planet as slaves. Enter Brain Juice - what Nathan and his sister believe to be their cure for dumbness. But what does this have to do with the aliens? Who cares? This book is extremely unscary, lifeless, and has a predictable, rushed ending. R.L.Stine could use a glass or two of Brain Juice...

Funny
