I liked this book a lot but I thought it was very violent like when the teenagers were hacking each other to death with hatchets and I didn't like the fact that Robin Fear kills all the people for like no reason at all. Well,if you like Horrer then you will most likely like it. Hope this helps!

This was a very good book. Although it was very violent, it was still good. I would of still like the book if he didn't describe the teenagers hacking themselves to death so much with all the gore.

An adventurous creepy novel, I couldn't put it down!

Stine definetely delivers! It has alot of gory details and it was like watching a horror movie. Some people don't take R.L. Stine seriously, mainly because he started making children's books, but you have to give him credit for this one! I haven't got "The Loudest Scream" yet, but I'm looking through second hand book stores to see if they have it before I go to a new book store to order it! I can't wait to read it! Keep up the good work Stine!

OMG once again R.L. Stine writes another horrible book. I mean when was the last time one of his books was actually good. All his books are so unbelievable and this one was no different. All his book are predictable and so was this one the same things that always happen in his books also happened in this book. In this book the ghost of Cally Frasier is back again and she's feeling lonly so she decides to seek after this boy named Brandt that now lives in her house the she used to live in before she died. So she designs a plot to kill him so that he can stay with her forever. Trust me this book was so lame so save your money and DON'T BUY THIS BOOK! I'M BEGGING YOU I MEAN IT DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!

Second Book in the 99 Fear Street: The House of Evil Series

Review Date: 2002-06-11
More than a year after "The First Horror" ended, 11th-grader Brandt McCloy and his parents are moving into the 99 Fear Street house. Not long after they arrive, strange things start to happen: Brandt's cat is killed by a flying spear (just curious--why do all pets have to die horribly in Stine's books?), someone or something is moving around at night in the attic, and Brandt finds Cally Frasier's diary, which is mysteriously still being written in.

Apart from the terror at home, Brandt is becoming very popular with the girls at Shadyside High, in particular with Abbie Ayler, Jinny Thompson, and Meg Morris. However, the ghost of Cally Frasier intends to harm everyone Brandt is close to, including the above-mentioned girls. What can Brandt do to protect everybody, including himself, from Cally's pent-up rage? (By the way, since when did Cally get so angry? Maybe it's because she's now part of the evil in the house, but it just seems so out of character. In the first book, she was rather nice.)

Like the first book in this trilogy, "The Second Horror" is just as bad, and I don't mean "bad" as in "good". The ending is unbearably awful, and the plot is just plain silly. So, unless you're a really loyal R. L. Stine fan, I'd skip this trilogy ("The First Horror", "The Second Horror", and "The Third Horror").

When I read the first part (the first horror) I was really scared. And I don't like to admit those things, so you can believe me. This and the other two books are about a house which better never should have been build. The house was build over a cemetery of the victims of the Fear Family. Insiders knew what sort of people the Fears where and why it's logical that the house is doomed. In 20 years nobody lived there but then the Frasiers (part one) and Cally Frasier has to stay in the house - as a ghost.
Now there are the new inhabitants - the McCloys. Cally, who becomes cruel, because of the house, starts to threat Brandt (the son of the inhabitants) by her diary on the attic. Brandt has to realize that the house is evil - hunted. And Cally likes Brandt and looks after him. When she knew about his female friends she tries to kill them in the house. Then she gets an idea. She would love to hunt the house together with Brandt, so she wants to kill him, too. Can Brandt escape?
You can find the answer by reading this exciting book! Have a lot fun, you won't be disappointed.

It's been a year since Evan died, shot mysteriously in Fear Street woods. A year since his girlfriend Ellen moved away. Meg was one of Ellen's best friends, and when she hears that Ellen is going to visit Shadyside, she decides to throw a surprise party in honor of Ellen's return. Everyone thinks it's a good idea; Tony, Meg's boyfriend, Lisa, one of Meg's friends, and eventually even Shannon, Meg's best friend and sister of Evan. But there's someone out there who doesn't think the party is such a great idea. In fact, the stranger claims that bad things will happen to Meg if the party plans go forward. Meg thinks it's all just a joke...until bad things really do start to happen, which lead her to wonder; just what does this person want to hide?

A psychotic killer has just murdered a boy named Evan in the Fear Street woods and has gotten away with it. It is now a year later and Meg Dalton is living her life peacefully with her close friends Shannon, Lisa, and boyfriend Tony. One day, Lisa informs Meg that Ellen is coming back to town. Ellen was Evan's girlfriend and one of Meg's closest friends, and once he died, Ellen left all her friends and moved elsewhere. Meg decides that she should throw a surprise `Welcome back!' party for Ellen, so that Ellen doesn't feel awkward about her visit. However, someone else is insistent on making sure that the party doesn't take place, even if it means killing Meg.

As we progress with the story, we make a list of suspects who could be threatening Meg from organizing the party. They are:

1) Meg's best friend Shannon: Shannon is Evan's sister, and doesn't like Ellen because of it.
2) Meg's cousin Brian: Who was in the scene of the crime a year ago, and has been acting strangely ever since
3) Meg's boyfriend Toby: Toby seems more distant after the Evan's death since he and Evan were close friends.

It's always fun reading a thriller where you are trying to figure out who the killer is. R. L. Stine once tells us a gruesome story (which is a little farfetched) of a girl trying to solve the identity of the person who is after her. This book had a lot of twists and turns in it, especially in the end, which made it a worthwhile read.

In conclusion, you won't be disappointed by reading this Fear Street book.

i thought the book wasn't a bad book or a really good book. So i basically thought it was an average book. It wasn't that scary and horrifing. But there was a good story to it. It is about a girl who comes back to this haunted house to find the ghost of her dead sister that died a while back. But her sister causes all these accidents tha kills people. So if with a good story, but isn't that scary but with alot of surprises that wil surprise you then you should read this book.

I thought that this was a very interesting book. The reason I think that is because it was a real cliff hanger, and I don't know about you but I like cliff hangers. But if you haven't read the first two then the third one odes not make any sence at all. So my advise to every one who reads this review, make sure you read the first two before you read this one. Thank you for your time, and I hope you have this review will help you in the long run for picking out books. -Anonymous-

This is the best book I ever read! I like books that will make you feel that you are in the book. I felt i was in the audience and cheering with them. I freaked out when i found out Griffin was the killer! The tricks that he done with the cheerleaders that was dreadful. The doll thingy was really weird. We have a wacko over here. But this book is really good to read around the school time when there are cheerlleading tryouts and when you see them cheering on for the team.

I read the Senior Series when it first came out (I think I was in junior high at the time, and now just graduated from High School) and the books still stick in my head. I remember this one because I had always been of Stine's Cheerleader books, and this one actually felt somewhat like those books. It had the great suspense, and gore of the first two books, and had a very likeable cast. The book is pretty darn violent, but nothing worse than what Stine normally write. I would read the series in order though, just because of the fact that you need to pay attention to who dies in what book.

I dont know what some past reviews said about this book being boring...it was the best seniors book till now...I didnt really enjoy the others, but this had a style like the older Fear Street books I always loved...the first few books of the series were not so great and could have been so much better...but this one lived up to its reputation...the killer was quite possibly the most sinister from any Stine book and the most evil...this book was intense and enjoyable and there was nothing boring about it...hope the books that follow are just as good...

Blood in her locker, blood-covered dolls in her locker w/ a uniform on it, etc etc. Phoebe suspects Jade and Dana, but they deny. Then, one day, Jade runs up 2 Phoebe. "Phoebe! Dana fell into an empty pool! She's unconcious! Help!" Phoebe is suspicious, but agrees 2 come. Suddenly, 2 people grab her and throw into a truck. Who is it? Jade? Dana? Or someone Phoebe least expectx?

Fight, Team, Fight! was a pretty good Seniors book. The main character Phoebe Yamura is pretty cool and Ty Sullivan my favorite senior is in this book too. I can usually guess who the killer is in R.L. Stine's books, but the killer's identity shocked me! I'm glad the senior that died in this book died because she was a first class grade A...well you know what I mean. My favorite parts in the book are when Phoebe kept getting the death threats. I would recommened Fight, Team, Fight! and the rest of the Seniors series as well.

I can honestly say this is the worst book I have ever read by R.L.Stine. I was actually angry when I finished the book. The story is ridiculous, senseless, and just awful. And the ending is the biggest groaner ending in history. It really does not make much sense at all, and it certainly isn't scary. It turns into this frustrating Twilight Zone episode - a terrible episode that makes you change the channel and shake your head in disgust. Please, do not read this book.

This definetly isn't one of R.L. Stine's best. The book is cool and very realisitic, but near the end the narrator changed from Monty to Nan and I got lost. The ending was predictable, considering that I've read many Goosebumps books. Still, I have to say that it is decent, with many interesting twists. Mediocre, at best.

Locker 13, the second book in R.L. Stein's Nightmare Room Series is something a bit different than the first book, which I felt was genuinely chilling and frightful. Both books (and I imagine the entire series, but I'm only on book #2, after all) open with a Twilight Zone-esque introduction, which I rather like. This particular volume focuses on Luke, who happens to be quite superstitious and not all that lucky. Rather than make his own way, he relies on his lucky shirt, lucky sandwich, lucky rabbits foot...he's got a lucky item for darn near every occasion! He's also fond of rubbing his lucky shirt 7 times and squeezing his rabbits foot in multiples of three for increased luck. His best friend is the luckiest person he knows...winning things, finding money, and just plain ol' lucky on a daily basis.

The story follows Luke through the year, after the first day, when he is unlucky enough to be assigned locker 13...poor unlucky Luke...how will this unlucky start color his year? Read and find out.

Luke doesn't seem to see the world in terms of effort put out or innate skills...he sees it as having luck or not having it and if you haven't got it, he seems to think he's less than a zero. I find the whole story interesting and suspenseful, but not chilling or outright scary. This one is more of a moralistic tale...with a pretty standard moral tale ending...whereas the first book (Don't Forget Me) had a less straight forward ending (typical Twilight Zone, non-committal, open to more weirdness than solid closure for the story)...which is what I really liked about it, it introduces readers to the less than clear ending for story lines. This book is not like that, it has definite closure, though sitting here thinking about it...one could make a case for that not being entirely true, based on the penny incident at the very end. If that is the case, then the weirdness is more subtle in this second volume and that's cool too, though less sophisticated readers might not pick up on it (and clearly I almost fell into that category myself).

Overall, I liked it, though it's not as creepy as the first (for my taste), it is suspenseful and definitely an interesting story line. The main character could have been a little more developed, so we could more easily identify with him, but not bad at all! A fine addition to a budding line of creepy tales. It should be interesting to see where Stein goes with additional volumes!

He said, " Run!" James tried to escape. He put him in a cage pulled some curtains. A whole crowd was in front of him. He looked over to see Ashley.

The whole crowd was asking them questions. The other kids in the cage were answering questions. After the a while the show ended. They had 20 minutes to rest.

Later on in the book Ashley and James escaped and ran around the carnival. People were looking at them weird.

They were looking for the Beast. They never found it and ran back to were the came from. The Doctor was made. So the thought of another way. Ashley thought that the could get there close. That was it they went in were the capsule was. As soon as they got there they started to search for there close. Ashley called James over. She had found there close. They went back to their room, and changed. The doctor had came in and saw there close. He said he was going to turn them into a different time. Put them in the capsule. James reversed knobs. The Doctor opened the door to the time machine. He grabbed Ashley, but it was too late. Ashley and James had returned to there time. As they got back they saw Fire works in the sky.

I thought this book was an interesting book. The book was interesting because they would excape form the Doctor I always thought what would happened when they came back. I recommend it for people who like to read Adventure.

I read this book before the first one and i thought that this one didn't have as much detail in feeling, that's what i loved about it. i never have liked books with ton of detail ecause it doesn't leave you guessing, this one did. i thought it was a great book!

I liked this book because there were not a lot of pages but it felt like the book went on forever. While you read, new events pop up everywhere. You will be surprised. The ending will bring it all together~!
Diana kills a boy named Eric. Billy returns to Sandy Hollow to kill all the vampires on Vampire Island. He wants revenge since the vampires killed his girlfriend. Diana has returned to do the same, since the vampires killed her cousin April. Diana has come back with a new name. Can she pull that off without getting caught? Can Diana and Billy kill the vampires before Billy gets to hungry?
I think a fast reader will enjoy this book because the book won't feel so long and they will understand the book better. I think a slow reader will dislike this book because it will feel like the book never ends.
ENJOY

This Book was kinda good, but more like the first one.

This book was about this guy that was after the vampires and so he goes down there with his friends and meets up with a bunch of vampires. This story has two major twists in it, and overall, it's pretty good, but a little too much like the first one.

Could not put it down.

A great beginner novel for less advanced readers looking for some edge...

In my preteens R.L. Stine was probably the one author that monopolized my bookshelf. His `Goosebumps' series was a big hit among the kids my age and we all would sit around and trade books until we had all read every book he'd written in the series. Once that was accomplished we all wanted more, something with more teeth and luckily for us Stine had also written a series of books for the teen reader, books with a little more edge and some more realistic fears.

`The Snowman' was the first book I'd read outside of the `Goosebumps' series written by Stine and I must admit to having been hooked. It was not what I expected but in a way I was grateful for that. There were no monsters, demons or ghosts involved, just human terror. It's not that this is a gruesome serial killer type novel, although the main villain is a bit of a serial killer/stalker, but the novel is a much slower paced psychological thriller of sorts.

I know, believe me, that that sounds stupid when in reference to a novel of this caliber. It's not a masterpiece by any means and it's in no way shape or form even comparable to the greats or even to the great writers of modern horror and or suspense, but in its own unique way `The Snowman' is somewhat of a stepping stone into deeper, darker more disturbing waters. It's like the `Silence of the Lambs' for beginners, the novel you read before you get into the better more accessible novels.

So, in closing, if you're an avid reader of more advanced better written horror and or literature in general then steer clear away from this novel, but if you're a young reader wanting to expand your reading library with novels that offer a bit of a bite without devouring you whole then this a great place to start. It'll prepare you for the harsher reality to come.

Feel safe?

When I was younger I would only read books by R.L. Stine, and `The Snowman' was the first that I read that wasn't of the `Goosebumps' fame. `The Snowman' is an effective thriller for young adults for it really delivers some good chills and tense moments. Heather is living with her Uncle James, a man she can't stand, but when she meets a stranger named Bill her life begins to change. Bill seems to be just what she needed, but Bill does so much more than come between her and her boyfriend, he starts to pick apart her life, body by body. At times downright chilling, `The Snowman' is recommended to any teenager looking to break into more mainstream horror, break away from the docile stuff and read something with a little more backbone. Sure, it's no Stephen King, but this is a good jumpstart.

borring!

This book was [no good]! The reason why I think The Snowman by R.L.Stine is boring is because nothing happens at all in this book! And besides you know that snowman on the cover, well the book doesn't even have anything to do with a snowman! the only part in the book that has to do with a snowman is that a boy that Heather meets with the nickname of snowman takes Heather to a special and beautiful secret place in the forest next to the park and they got the idea to build a snowman, and that is the only part is the story that has to do with a snowman. So I have no clue why in the world the book is called The Snowman...
