R. L. Stine Knows how to weave a story!Review Date: 2004-12-09
The story is pretty good actually. The plot and theme sound a little familiar, but once you start reading it, you realize that Stine made an original story out of it. Character development, suspense, and details made this a remarkable story.
Stine is notorious for his use of details to pull the reader into the story. One of the most adored characteristics of the Goosebumps series is his use of gory, creepy, or mysterious details that make the reader really think. Because stine does this well, I can really picture the events and the characters as if I was there. I like authors that can do that.
Stine also builds suspense throughout the story. Even though the plot is an obvious one, the complications Kerry faces are still unexpected. I certainly didn't know what was really going on until he revealed it all in the end. He kept me guessing throughout the story.
My favorite part of this story was character development though. Kerry is a typical boy. I didn't really like his personality much, but he is familiar to me and a lot of kids my age. I know Kerry is representative of teenagers and because of that, readers will be able to associate. The best character however was Mandy.
The story is told from a third person point of view looking over Kerry's shoulder. If it had been told from Mandy's point of view it might have been less suspenseful, but Mandy is awesome. Her personality sticks to the reader like glue. She even captured my affection early in the story. By the end of the book, even though she scared me, I still wanted to know her.
Stine wrote a really good story here. I know all of his current readers will like it. Since its his first, all his fans should read it.

It is a mystery for him and the reader to find out what happened in his past as well as the mysterious Mandy. It's a spine-tingler and a good book for any thrill seeker.

Not the best ending to SeniorsReview Date: 2003-12-06
The Seniors series was a lot of fun. I loved finishing a book and then reading the next one to see who dies. But now it's over. And worst of all, this book ends with so many questions unanswered. Was Justin really Amy Fear? Who was that spirit talking during the seance in The Thirst? And many more. Also, the dead seniors come back to life in this book for a while. It was said that all of the dead seniors had come back to life, but only a few came back. What happened to all the other ones? Now to the vampire part. The idea of an evil spirit and a vampire in the same book isn't the smartest idea.
R.L. Stine was probably thinking of a quick way to end the Seniors series. I suggest reading the whole series, but don't let this one disappoint you too much.

An Evil Spirit Wonýt Let Them Graduate--Oh no! ;)Review Date: 2002-01-17
Meanwhile, Clark Dickson (aka Count Clarkula) shows his true nature as a vampire and seeks blood from the sci-fi nerd, Matty Winger, and the rich Fear descendent, Trisha Conrad. I'm not sure why a vampire had to be added to the plot (although I'm all for vampire stories) when the evil spirit seemed like enough of a threat. I guess I should probably read the other 11 books to find out, especially since--as usual--I've begun a series out of order, starting with the last book first. I wasn't completely lost, however. The yearbook pics at the beginning of the book were useful, but a little distracting. I kept flipping back every so often to find out who each character was, which really wasted a lot of my time while reading the book.
Overall, this is your typical Fear Street book. Most teen fans will probably enjoy it, but I thought it was a little too cheesy, even for kids. I mean, a spirit that won't let you graduate high school? Come on. Someone's really getting desperate for material. And it's always a bad sign when a horror book makes you laugh instead of cringe. So, maybe "Graduation Day" will scare younger readers, but I think I've finally outgrown the Fear Street books, even just for fun reading.

Josie Maxwell DID summon the evil spirit in book #1, and it claims two more victims in this book: Pheobe Yamura and Kenny Klein. The others who died are Greta Bradley, Danielle Cortez, Jade Feldman, Gary Fresno, Debra Lake, Dierdre Palmer, Ty Sullivan and Justin Thompson. Pheobe is hung upside-down from the gym roof, and Kenny Klein is killed by the evil spirit when it takes over his body. Clark Dickson (Count Clarkula) is a vampire, and he makes Matty Winger a vampire too. At the end, the spirit appears to josie telling her "it's time to finish my work, happy graduation day josie" and then it ends. A great book, well worth reading.

Egg Monsters from MarsReview Date: 2005-03-02
The first thing I liked was at the very beginning of the book
when Dana's sister Brandy had an egg hunt at her party that turned into an egg war between the party guests. i also liked the fact that Dana had a very adventerous time in this sory like the time Dr. Gray tried to kidnap him. Dr. Gray was a bad guy who told Mr. Johnson a lie that he had never seen Dana before when Mr. Johnson asked him this question at Dr. Gray's lab.
i disliked that the author went a little too oveboard on the details about the egg monsters. i also disliked the book's ending left you hanging because dana brought his parents to the lband the egg monsters and Dr. Gray had disappeared and no reason was given.
Overall I thought it was a good book. I would give it three out of five stars. L would recmmend this book for fourth graders going into fifth grade. You should read this book because if you do, you will probably like it, and you will want to read the rest of the books in the series of Goosebump stories by R.L. Stine.
Egg Monsters From Mars:Review Date: 2001-11-26
Dana Johnson is a normal 12yr boy with a totally bratty sister who get's whatever she wants whenever she wants. She demands an egg hunt for her birthday party... And so of course she get's one!!!
Now Dana to his suprize finds an egg the size of a softball in his yard with purple viens, and it throbs... He keeps the egg in his sock droor to keep it from his little sister. Soon one day he finds it hatched in his sock droor. But its nothing that normally fromes from an egg... Its a small yellow, gooey, slimy creature with beedy black eyes. Dana is shocked, but he wants to know what it is and he takes it to the science lab in his town to have them check it out.
And that's just where the fun begins!!!
To find out the rest read this interesting book it has and interesting ending as well!!!
God Bless ~Amy

Fun BookReview Date: 2008-03-04
There are some fun adventures. You will keep wondering about this "prowler" until you reach the end; you will want to keep reading until you find out.
The end has a very interesting and unique twist. I liked the end. However, this book wasn't quite good enough to give 5 stars to. My favorite R.L. Stine books are "Hit and Run", "The Rich Girl", and my very favorites, "The Babysitter" (I-IV).
This is a good teen book, and I would recommend it to a teen. I would not recommend it to an adult, unless it is an adult who occasionally enjoys fun, less serious, teen books.
Haunted By R.L StineReview Date: 2004-05-29
Through out the book Melissa tries to find out who this mysterious guy is and what it is he wants from her and why? R.L Stine has written other books but not as good and mysterious for teen as Haunted. That is why I enjoyed reading this book; all it's excitement and mystery.
A RATED "R" BOOK!! (Zero Stars if zero were an option)Review Date: 2007-04-19
Can Melissa stop a ghost from killing her?Review Date: 2005-12-27
There is a prowler in Fear Street who is breaking into everyone's houses and robbing them. Melissa Dryden, a teenager living in Fear Street is scared that they prowler might attack her family one day, and gets terrified when small things like tree branches hit her windows. Soon, she starts experiencing strange things like a shadow prancing in her room, her new car steering out of control, and someone trying to push her out of her bedroom window. No one believes her since they think she is imagining it because of her fear of the prowler. However, she knows that there is a ghost in her room trying to kill her, and she tries to get to the bottom of it by figuring out who he is, and how she can prevent him from killing her.
Although the ending was a little predictable, I still enjoyed reading this book because it had a lot of twists and turns. I found it really intriguing during the middle where Melissa is confused as to whether the ghost is really a ghost or not. What I also liked about it was the fact that it was simple enough to enjoy. Some of Stine's Fear Street stories tend to be really confusing, especially towards the end, but this story was fast paced and not complicated.
On the whole, I would rate this as one of the better Fear Street books that Stine has written. I would recommend this to anyone who likes reading ghost stories or is a fan of R. L. Stine's work.
Another Gripping Horror by the Stephen King-for-YoungAdults.Review Date: 2004-07-01
Oddly, she then meets a living version of the avengeful ghost boy.And he is even scarier and meaner than his doppelganger.
How will Melissa protect herself from the living Paul and the dead one?How will she prove that she is NOT the killer? And why are there 2 of them anyway?
I could not keep my head out of it!

When they got to the mall Ann-Marie saw some pink Reeboks for half off. Jamie didn't like the color of the shoes,so she told Ann-Marie that she would be in the Record store. But instead of going in the Record store she went into the jewelry store to buy her mom a gift.
As she entered the store it was empty,so she walked further into the store. There she saw the manager getting robbed.she started to make a run to get out of there, but if she ran the robber might see her.She decides to hide behind the counter.
When she takes a look at the back of the robber's head she notices that his hair is sparkly-white like Tom's.
Could that be Tom? Could that be the reason why he didn't show up? Could that be the reason he didn't answer the phone? READ THIS BOOK THEN YOU'LL FIND OUT!

Jamie then witnesses a jewelry store robbery, which doesn't help her already paranoid state.
At the end of the book, we find out if Tom is good or bad, and if he really had a logical reason or not for standing her up. But until then, Jamie is really "losing it" because of her suspicions. I can't say more, because I do not want to ruin it.
One star is missing because I felt the plot of this book was weaker than I liked. I do not compare books to books, because that would be unfair (judging on a sliding scale); I only judge on the one big 1-5 scale. On that scale, I felt this book did not quite rise to the 5-star level. I am an adult, and I do take into consideration that a teen book will be a little less complicated (which is good, because sometimes we adults need simpler, fun books); even with that consideration, I felt 4 stars were fair.

With another Goosebumps book under his belt, R.L. Stine tells the fictional and strange story of Matthew Amsterdam in Don't Go To Sleep.
Matt is a 12-year-old boy who is considered to be a geek because of his love of Star Wars and things that come from outer space. He has a 15-year-old sister named Pamela and a brother named Greg, who is 16 years old, and all three of then live with their mother. Matt is angry most of the time because his brother and sister make fun of him nonstop. Matt's room is the smallest room in the house.
One night Matt got fed up with his tiny room so he slept in the guest room, which his grandparents slept in only once a year. When he woke up the next morning, he was physically 16 years old. He knew that he was still himself, but his entire outside life had changed. Evidently, he fell into a reality warp when he slept in the guest room. Every time that he fell asleep and woke up, he transferred into another reality. He became a 16 year old, a different 12 year old, an 8 year old circus lion tamer, an old man, a "Swamp Thing" like creature, a squirrel and a chubbier 12 year old. His changes helped him and hurted him. When he was the creature, he went on a rampage and destroyed everything in town. During this all, these three kids, Lindy, Bruce and Wayne were trying to capture Matt.
I would not recommend this book to anyone because I think it is corny. If you like reading a book that is weird, then you would enjoy it, otherwise you should not read it.

I was dreadfully interested in the events that happened, for instance Kerry's tires get slashed after the school dance. This is one of the only R.L. Stine books that captured my curiosity. The characters were exceptionally believable because Kerry was a shadow in his older brother Donald's footsteps. Kerry also was believable because he didn't get many dates and I know some guys; they don't get loads of dates.
I liked this book because it had a lot of twists and turns. At the conclusion of each chapter, a new surprise would arise and would make you what to read more. I recommend it to anyone and everyone because it will keep you guessing until the end.
