I found that this book is really interesting. I defintly recommend this book to be bought. This book is basically about a main character that is played by you who is with your twin friends and suddenly, you approach a proofessor's garage that needs clean-up. When you agreed to do the job, suddenly, one of the twin's ring fell into the door that prof. shock warned to go in. You guys go in and you get to choose all of these crazy adventures. I read this book over 20 times because it has so many endings! R.L. Stine did a great job on wrigint this book. I defintly give this book 5 stars.

Goosebumps: Creepy Creations of Professor Shock
Reviewed by: Jared K. [Age 8]

Have you ever seen something that so weird you just stopped and gazed in shock? Like one side of a building says ``Welcome'' and the other says ``DANGER!'' well these kids have Jason, Stacey and Jon have. So they decide to go in they met the owner by surprise. His name was Professor Shock. He thought they were ACME CLEANUP. He told them he would pay them $ 50.00 to clean up they said `` Sure '' and got to work. He told them not to go into one door but they went in anyway... I would recommend this book to people who like to be scared. My favorite part is when they go into the cave. I think this book can be a little scarier besides being scarier it's the best book I ever read I mean THE BEST!

R.L.Stine shines in what is perhaps one of the best Goosebumps books ever written. From the beginning, this chilling take-off from the classic Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde storyline is mature, scary, and psychological. Heidi is an orphan who is sent to live with her mysterious uncle and unfriendly cousin in a creepy mansion at the peak of a small town. This setting provides for a captivating and sensitive horror story that succeeds in enrapturing the reader with fear and intrigue. Stine develops page-turning mystery to solve the case of the dark creature who terrorizes the town, a creature whom may ver well be living in Heidi's new home. This creepy tale is goosebump-inducing greatness.

Thanx for a great book, R.L. Stine!

Jekyll & Heidi is a GREAT book.(Like all "Goosebums" books.) It's about a girl named Heidi, who's parents died in a car crash, goes to live with her uncle. When she gets off the train, she meets a boy who tells Heidi about a beast who attacks the village every night. Everybody thinks the beast is Heidi's uncle because his first name is Jekyll, like Dr.Jekyll from The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde. Is Uncle Jekyll really the beast? IS there even A beast? Read it to find out...

This is book one in a trilogy so you will want to make sure there are copies to purchase of or your library also has Midnight Games and Darkest Dawn as well. A very good and entertaining read.

A group of kids hang out in an abandoned house where the previous deceased resident was rumoured to be a witch. They stumble upon a secret room and find jewellery inside which they steal. For these thieves the bullies amongst them get their comeuppance for the tormentation of Candy (also one of those who stole jewels), in a series of terrifying events which are also very entertaining for the reader.

Well, I thought that Moonlight Secrets would have been better but it was good. When Candy always used to rub the stone I thought that she would have been doing all that stuff. When ever things used to happen she will be rubbing it and saying words nobody can hear. When cockroaches came out of his mouth that was gross! But the ending was very shocking.Once I found out the stone was fake I was suprised. I will be reading Midnight Games to see what happened.

This is a good book with two problems. We never got a charecter discription. The night people could have had three heads, we just don't know. The second is we don't know what we are fighting. I think it is Angelica Fear. All we know is they killed Candy for no reason. But it is still a good book. Book one in the trilogy

Lewis and Jamie just wanted some time to be alone in-between working hard in school, college applications, and after-school jobs. So the two seniors snuck out together. Each night, after their parents went to sleep, a little after midnight, they would head out. Then the trend caught on. Soon, Lewis and Jamie weren't the only teens sneaking out at night. First, they went to the old burned-down Fear Mansion, where rats and spiders were found in groups, but it didn't bother them much. Then the Fear Mansion was turned down, and the gang started hanging out at a new bar called Nights - built on top of the Fear Mansion. They were the Night People. But Jamie and Lewis, they remember the crazy stuff that happened, the stuff that caused them to be left back, and repeat Senior year, and leave them in the hospital for months. They all just wanted to have a good time, and hang out with their friends with no parents around to interfere with them. But then the nights turned bleak. Accidents began to happen, pranks gone wrong, and death. Now the Night People must find out the truth, before their secret is exposed.

I have been a fan of R.L. Stine since I was 6-years-old, and have loved everything that he's ever penned. Though MOONLIGHT SECRETS, and the FEAR STREET NIGHTS series, in general, has got to be one of my favorite trilogies by him. Jamie and Lewis are eerie characters, whose cryptic memories of that night at the Fear Mansion send shivers up your spine, while many of the other characters - Shark, Nate, Candy - each possess their own strange quirks. Narrated by Nate, MOONLIGHT SECRETS is a fabulous novel, and sets the groundwork for its sequels MIDNIGHT GAMES and DARKEST DAWN.

A short read. Took me about an hour to read.

Leah Fier has a power to control animals. When strange things start to happen to people who are close to Leah's sister, Luke he realizes that Leah may be using her powers for evil. His girlfriend is killed by a spider, his parents are killed by wild hogs, a bully is killed by leeches, ect.
Luke then decides enough is enough and he has his sister thrown in an asylum. Later that night he realizes that he might have made a mistake, it may not be Leah after all who is responsible for all the killings.

It seems as though you're in the book while reading it!

Hello! My name is Marissa. I'm almost 15 years old. I was assigned to read this book for literature class at school two days ago. We have to finish reading it in four days but the auther in this book makes you imagine everything thats going on as if you were there, inside the book everything instead of reading it. So I finish the book just today. The last two paragraphs you need to finish, no matter how much you have to go somewhere or do something, you just have to know what is going to happen next before you close the book. There is no pictures in this book but like i said, the auther made it so easy for me to imagine what the characters looked like and what the rest of the story looked like wether it was two people walking down a street or a house burning. I really do recommend this book to all ages. It doesnt matter how old you are I still think you will enjoy this book if you give it a chance and read all of it. Especially the end, I'ts really exciting.

You Won't Want to Close Your Eyes After Reading This!

Review Date: 2007-01-19
First off, I have to take back what I said about this being the last book in my review of book #7 of the series, clearly the Mostly Ghostly series is NOT wrapped up in Don't Close Your Eyes. Clearly Stine means to write more in this series, though I'm a bit worried because Don't Close Your Eyes came out in January 2006 and nothing more since (it's been a year now). We were also unable to find anything on the "official" website about upcoming releases. So I hope we haven't wasted our time on this series that might not come to a resolution for Max, Nicky and Tara.

So...now for the actual review...Don't Close Your Eyes is the 8th book in the Mostly Ghostly Series and is about on par with previous titles, though I do believe that this is the most involved and "dangerous" plot yet...one that the reader felt Max might now be able to get out of. In this book, Max encounters Inkweek, a terrifying spirit that winds up residing in Max and waiting for the opportunity to envelop him in his inky blackness and return to this world in bodily form. Once the initial possession takes place, Nicky and Tara find themselves working frantically to come up with ways to keep Max awake...and by the time it's been 3 days, Max is delirious with exhaustion and the plot becomes more and more outlandish (and horrific at the same time)....This one keeps you guessing right up to the hilarious end! Read and find out if Max is able to say awake! You won't be disappointed in this dangerously exhausting adventure...and Max even gets invited to a party with Tracy Wayne (prettiest girl at school), you'll just die when you find out what happens!

In the end, this book, like all the other before it is done in a campy horror style that has a few genuine thrills and chills...but mostly it's horror that's so over the top it's laughable and my 8 year old daughter just adores this series. As I've said in every previous review, I don't particularly (personally) care for Stine's over the top exaggeration of Max's abusive, bullying brother and uncaring father. I do think it's nice that Max is klutzy, nervous, always messing up and is smart at school but a flop with Tracy. In the end, I recognize that despite my annoyance at Max's family life, such things are often necessary in fiction and that this to distance Max from his family and make the idea of him being the ONLY one to know about or help with all the hilarious, creepy, horrific and strange stuff going on in his life because of Phears, Nicky, Tara and their parents. Here's hoping there will be more in the series, my daughter just loves these!

Is this the last Mostly Ghostly book?

Until this past summer, my son would only read non-fiction (books of facts were his favorite). He absolutely refused to read fiction. Once I persuaded him to read "Who Let the Ghosts Out?", he was hooked. He couldn't wait to read the next book.

We looked at the RL Stine and Mostly Ghostly websites and he got psyched about what would happen in the upcoming books. This one ("Don't Close Your Eyes") wasn't listed on any of his sites, so we didn't know it existed until I stumbled across it at one book store. Then I saw it here.

Unlike the others, it does not list an excerpt from the next book, and the story isn't wrapped up like you would expect from a final book, so I am not sure if he is planning to write more or not. He seemed to be doing at least 2 per year, but nothing in the past year. This one seemed like he was pushed to write something but he ran out of ideas.

It's a fun series for kids (not scary), and we wish Mr Stine would write more, or at least write a final book to wrap up the series.

I think this book is very scary, but, it may be scarier. It was scary. But, a little more scary would be better. It's set in a house, with a evil granny, and a grandson happy as can be. Here's the ONLY part that was terrifying: When Corey [the boy], saw Amy [his sister] and Amy rescued him from the cluches of evil Granny Marsha. Why? Because she was getting back at them.
This book was good, but it could of been better with a longer ending.

I read this book in what I guess what probably the 6th grade, because around that time I loved whatever had the name "R.L. Stine" written on it. I knew from the start these books weren't written by him, but I still gave them a shot, because after reading the first two (the best ones of the series) I decided to stick around for the ride. I have only a fadey memory of this book, but remember that the plot of the book was pretty good and kept you involved. The ending was a pretty cheap pay off, and ruined basically what would have been a decent read. But, then again, you could see one of them crazy endings coming from the beginning, because as it built up, that ending was the only way to really pull off the story without it looking totally rediculous. And it was a Ghosts of Fear Street book, and most always ended like that (Ex. "The Boy Who Ate Fear Street" and "Night of the Werecat", to name a few). It's an okay read if you don't mind the helpless ending.

Almost Scary!

Review Date: 2006-11-16
Ghouls Gone Wild is the fifth book in the Mostly Ghostly series and here we find Max initially excited about his parents plans to sell their house and move to Texas where his father may have a new job lined up, especially after Nicky & Tara (his two live in ghost friends) get him into hot water by dunking the Mayor in the school swimming pool...on camera even. We discover (through Nicky and Tara) that there is a Ghoul (or two) running amok in the house and it's Nicky and Tara who find an old spell book and tell Max that they'll take care of it. When he realizes what great friends they are trying to be, Max knows he must do something about his parent's plan to sell the house...if you want to find out more about the Ghouls and if Max manages to succeed in sabotaging his parents, you'll have to read the book!

Overall, it's about the same as the previous in terms of what I like and dislike about this series. Max's brother is still an overbearing bully who is physically abusive (this goes beyond brotherly razzing in my opinion and I'm not all that fond of this aspect of the series), his father is also a bully, prizing brawn over brains who is generally permissive of the brothers abuse and verbally abusive himself, the mom is not much more than a doormat in these tales. Despite this, Max's character generally shines despite his clumsiness, his "helpful" ghost friends, and his torment at the hands of his brother...that is to say that he generally does the right thing and doesn't dwell on the negative things in life, and that in itself is a positive message for kids, that and the ever present message that friends (dead or alive) are always the most important thing...that you should always be ther for them!

As for the story...it's interesting, but I get the feeling that this was more exposition for a later volume as the story was short on the details of the Ghouls (with reason), the whole thing just felt like one big build up for something that didn't happen in THIS story, so it should be interesting to see where the next ones goes. This wasn't particularly scary...it also wasn't gory or even mildly creepy. My main question is what's up with the shadowy figure in black...I was left with the feeling that the ONLY reason to read this is to have the filler for something that's going to happen down the line. I give it a C-...there wasn't a whole lot going on here...and what was going on wasn't terribly frightening.

this book is about this boy named max and he find this to ghost named nicky and tara. The two ghoss who live with. They need him. HE's the only one who can help them become real kids again!
But Max has another problem right now. A figure dressed in black, with a face hidden in. It's a boy or is it? That's what Max needs to know, because this shadowy figure is following Max. Watching him. waiting for him. this book is also a great book for all ages. For example onev of the exciting parts are when max has to give speech to his class mates and messes thing up. He does not realy mess it up on his own it was the help of the ghost friends. The main plot would be that they have to figure out who is the misyrious figure is.

I think the book is O.K.it wasn't the best book I've ever read but it had some pretty exciting parts. One would be when the two kids are being attacked by giant killer praying mantises. The main reason you should read this book is because it will shock you especially with it's greatly shocking plot twist on the end that will really make you think. I believe that the twist on this book is the most twisted twist ever written and that you should really read it.

This is a completely new and surprising return to Goosebumps. Because of the new twists in the storytelling--each book has two parts inside--you really don't know what will happen next! I hope CREEP FROM THE DEEP is just as silly/scary as this one. p.s. Don't forget to look in the back of the book!

After almost a decade R.L. Stine decided to please his fans and write more Goosebumps books. I have to say that this has been the best Goosebumps book I have ever read. I am a teacher and I read the Goosebumps series to my class. My class loved this book. They are big fans of Slappy so they basically forced me to get this book. There were laugh out loud parts and scary parts. This has been the funniest Goosebumps ever and then when you think the tale is over R.L. Stine throws a whole new story in. The family gets an invitation to go to Horrorland. From who? The reader doesn't know but my class has some ideas about what or who it might be. The family then goes to Horrorland where weird things begin to happen. The story ends and the reader still wants more just like the previous Goosebumps book. But the reader should feel satisfied because it seems like all of our questions are going to be answered within the 10 Goosebump Horrorland books. I don't want to spoil any parts for anybody but R.L. Stine throws in another doll into the story and its not a puppet. All I can say is that the doll was very interesting and brung a whole new type of scare to this story. There are also extras in the book like a map of Stagger Inn. Every book has its own map. There is also more extras that I won't spoil for you so just pick up the book.

Yes that's right, gentle readers, the master of fright is back nearly after a whole decade with a new book series called Goosebumps: Horrrland for kids. The first new book is called "Revenge of the Living Dummy" and the second book is called "Creep from the Deep." The writing style is still the same, but that's what makes R. L. Stine so interesting. He wrties on kids level so that it is easy to read and undertand and his stories are so original and entertaining that I can't wait until the next book releases. (Which will be in June!) So, again, I'm very surprised that Goosebumps has finally awakened again after all these years! If Goosebumps: Horroland stays around long enough, it might be even better than the Harry Potter series, (in my opinioin!) but you never know if FOX might make an attempt to ressurect the show for the new series, (hey, I can dream, can't I?) So 'readers beware, you're in for a scare'!

Disappointing

After almost a decade, R.L. Stine brings Goosebumps back! And what better way to inaugurate the new series than with new adventures of Slappy the Dummy, the series' most popular character? Sadly, R.L. Stine drops the ball with the series debut, creating a disappointing rehash of the previous Slappy books.

The first Night of the Living Dummy was a brilliant book which set the standard for future Goosebumps book - well-written, suspenseful and occasionally even frightening. Parts II and III were pretty good follow-ups, and Bride of the Living Dummy was almost as good as the original, and easily the best of the Series 2000 books. Slappy's Nightmare was a bit too tongue-in-cheek but did put an interesting spin on the plot thread.

But Revenge of the Living Dummy slavishly adheres to the Dummy formula. The dummy shows up, nasty things happen, kid is unfairly blamed, it turns out to be a prank, THEN the dummy REALLY comes to life, and so on. There are a few twists - the main character isn't the one blamed for the dummy's activity, and the finale - but nothing really worth mentioning. It's a really disappointing, formulaic, by-the-numbers Goosebumps book. We can only hope that the future installments will improve on it, especially as the recurring plot and characters are introduced.
