While Christopher Pike has been popular among older teen readers for decades, he's expanded his books to a younger audience of readers (8 - 12 year olds), in his recent series called Spooksville, which has some similarities to R. L. Stine's Goosebumps and Fear Street books.

In this third book in the series, four friends (Adam, Watch, Sally, and Cindy) go into the Haunted Cave in search of man's evolutionary missing link--something that's part human, part ape. However, three of them get trapped inside the cave without a way out, stuck on an endless trail of bloodthirsty trolls and bats and impending death, while the remaining friend tries to find a way to rescue them.

I thought "The Haunted Cave" was more of an adventure story than a horror story--and definitely not as bloody or provocative as some of Pike's older teen books; so this book is appropriate for all ages, particularly preteens. Still, I prefer his other books.

Good fun reading for anyone who likes stories of underground adventure. This book reminded me of another great book--Steward's, "Tales of Dirt, Danger, and Darkness." Buy this book!

There is a mysterious cave at Spooksville. So Adam and his friends enter the cave. When they went to far, they decided to get out but there was no way out. Something scary is also after them, A monster that is trapped in the cave.

These book is amazing!
It start when they were playing when they saw Ted was bad they go to the hospital to see what happened with Ted. When they discovered he was a vampire Sally and Bryce want to kill him but Cindy do not believe he was a vampire and she didnt want to kill him! They go to kill vampires but they only kill one and they want to talk to the witch but Cindy said that she didnt want to go to see the witch because it was night and that she was tired. So the others go to talk to the witch and Cindy suppose to go to her house but she lie she want to go to see Ted, but he wanted to eat blood so when Cindy come inside the room of the hospital were ted was, ted hipnotize her Ted ask she many things and he tell her that he was a vampire! Cindy cry and telling him to let her go but Ted didnt want to let her go!
When the others went to search if Cindy was in home they dindt find her but Watch and Adam think that she go to see Ted. They go running to see the room of Ted. They didn't saw Ted the room was cool! They found Cindy she was very white! She sitting in the floor! When they try to talk to her she seems like she didnt recognize themshe was indefense for now! Bryce want to kill Cindy but Adam was saying that didnt hurt she.Adam was crying! Sally too! Watch was very hurt of what happened with Cindy! Bryce too!

Christopher's way of thinking up twisting ends amazes me! I love mystreys where the least expected is the one who did the crime but this is equally good. Watch really came through this time and to think he outsmarted the internet! The book was very stretchy about the part in the house. It seemed to go on forever even though it was just a week. I knew Savannah Stranger had something to do with it because she seemed anxious to get away and I don't think she was going just because of her brother! I give thy 2 words: BUY IT!

This book is totally awesome! The synopsis is enough to explain it. I have all of Christopher Pike's other Spooksville books, and I'm overexcited of waiting. I waited four months for Night of the Vampire, number 19. I feel I'll instantly read this book when I get it, stopping my "schedule" of all my other unfinished, still reading or still re-reading, books. I feel excited everytime I get these books. The author's first name, or should I say, the first part of his pen name, is the same as mine. Even if Amazon rates the age range 9-12, it should be higher. I'm thirteen, and they're still great.

The residents at Spooksville are doomed because huge giant crabs had appeared out of nowhere. Adam and his friends try to hide to the crabs. But there is only one way to make the crabs dissapear. Let Ann Templeton do her spells. If Ann did not do the spells Adam and his friends will die!. Or they have to swim through the sea. But nobody can swim to long!.

Cindy and Sally are jelous of the new girl, because she is pretty than them!! Adam and Watch fall in love with her !!
When they see the balls the new girl was acting like she was received them !
Adam rescue she from the balls but one ball enter in adam's body!
When he wake up fron the electricity of the balls he can't remmeber anything and he was acting weird!
Sally call Cindy home to tell her that they have to investigate Adam!
But Adam isn't home when they tried to talk to him he capture them and he what that a ball enter to their body!!

I like how the book describes certain details.

it was not bad. When Adam, Cindy, Watch and Sally see little balls that glow they found themselves trapped into some spaceship. Adam, Cindy, Watch And Sally has to find their way out or they will never get to see Spooksville again.

Well these book is about Watch! The deads want to kill him because he have live again (if you read the book #20, you will understand). Adam is sad because he is going to die! But the Witch make a treat with the dead!!
Bryce tell to Cindy that he likes she very much! wow!
Bryce and Cindy talk very much that Sally is with questions, she ask them "what is going on?" and they tell her "we have known better" but Adam was busy in other things that he dint put attention.

Although not my favorite book in this series, "the living dead" was a great read. I recommend it for a short read, and if you like horror as well as comedy.

When Adam and his friends stumble into an old graveyard, they see the dead rising from their graves.

I went to the Night World web page and L.J Smith said she was handing it to the publishers in the spring of 2003. So I hope it comes out soon.

Does anyone know when strange fate is going to come out????

This compilation contains some of the most dramatic books Pike has ever written. Personally, I would have to say that See You Later is my favorite, but Witch, Die Softly, and Fall Into Darkness are all equally alluring. These books share the common characteristic of leaving you with so many thoughts inside your head after you finish them. Buy this collection and pleaase meet Kara and Vincent. They are the greatest!

Christopher Pike, one of the best adult and young adult novelists, is now compiling his best stories into box sets. These are good for those of us who really enjoy all of his stories. When he chooses the four books to put into these sets together, he looks for books that compliment each other.

Witch, one of Pike's earlier books, adds the supernatural aspect to the set. A masterpiece alone, Witch involves secret powers, ponds that show the future, and a love that cannot die.

See You Later is the science fiction book of the set. Lovers that fall in love throughout several different lives find each other every time. A timeless story of love and powerful twists in plot.

Die Softly is the demented mystery with a very twisted plot. Girls who are drug adicts, boys taking pictures of girls in the locker rooms, murder: this book has it all, and it adds all of it to the book set.

And Fall into Darkness, again, has a twisted plot. Two brothers, one dead girlfriend, and another live one looking for the true killer. This book was made into a made for TV movie. It adds suspense to the book set.

Overall, these four books are four of Pike's best. They are all earlier books of his that show his true, raw writing style. He can turn a book out from any sense of style.

I read the Final Friends trilogy about 10 years ago and have always wanted to tell the world what I thought about it. It's the kind of story you like to pick up and read over again although you know the outcome. Like a favorite movie. Christopher Pike tells about high school life in a frank and realistic way. The mystery/triller aspect keeps you constantly engrossed in the story. You can imagine yourself in this school and in the situation these kids are faced in. I bought only part 1 at the book store just to see if I'd like it, the next day I had to have the other two books. Don't read the backs of the other two before you read it! The characters become real to you. You can relate to one or more characters in the story and the story becomes apart of you. You never want it to end, but just like graduation day, you get your diploma and everyone goes there separate ways. But the situation you and the characters have found yourself in will always be apart of you. Exellant characters. Exellant plot. Fabulous storytelling. It will force you to read every word!
