When perusing this volume, you will be struck by how skillfully the author manages to strike a balance between letters and his own interpretation. You are taken on a journey of Roethke's poetic process; the text explores the why and how of Roethke's work in a subtle yet understanding way. This is a good read for those who wish to learn more about the private mind behind Roethke's published writing, and those who wish to gain a better appreciation of how one literary mind shapes and guides another.

As a first-year student in a 2-year Radiation Therapy training program, I believe this book is the "gold standard" of information in the field. Much of my research for written papers comes directly from Perez & Brady's book. As an added benefit, when you purchase a new copy, you get a special code which permits you to set up an online account with the publisher. That, in turn, allows you to view the entire book online (both text and images). The images and illustrations really add to my research papers. All-in-all, well worth the $$$$.

Although I would never have expected it, Christopher MacGowan has done an excellent job in choosing poems from William Carlos Williams collection appropriate for children. In addition the illustrations not only compiment this imagist's poems, but are enjoyable for all ages. I look forward to other books in this series.

An excellent concise abstraction of the larger textbook "Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology". The same scope of content is present, the salient facts are presented in point form with the most important references at the end of each chapter. Abundant diagrams and photographs supplement the text. An excellent companion to Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology and particularly useful for senior residents and practicing radiation oncologists.

Delightful, anecdotal, touching remembrances of the premiere American modernist poet by the premiere American modernist publisher. More conversation than dissertation, the slim book consists of a single light, often rambling but highly readable poem. It's a must-read for any devotee of Williams and provides great insight into the relationship that fostered and nutured the development of New Directions. Also includes Paterson-like snippets of prose as well as Kenneth Rexroth's moving farewell poem to Dr. Williams.

Broken Film: Poems
D'Apres Tout: poems by Jean Follain translated by Heather McHugh is quite simply a desert island book for anyone who wants to know why literary minimalism has a purpose. Follain would probably be shocked to be linked with minimalists, but he likewise never sat well with the surrealists. Most minimalism succeeds or founders on an immediate but limited path of associative analogy, but the best minimalism opens outward into a depth that bespeaks of poetic compression at its peak of perfection. Follain creates entire social systems, worlds, and dramas in 10 to 20 lines. Comparisons might be drawn, in English, to Thomas Hardy or Phillip Larkin but these fall short of Follain's genius for making the inanimate and non-human realms become present as things to be reckoned with. Hardy and Larkin show us how people interact with such things, but Follain makes things present in an ontological sense that I have never experienced in any other poet's poetry.
I have read other translations of Follain (I read no French) but
McHugh's translation of this book is the only one that I have creased, treasured, and come back to time and time again over almost 30 years.
I hope that Princeton or another publisher will re-issue this absolutely essential book so that more poets could see what it can be like to be humble, chaste, and brilliant.

It is the most comprehensive book ever produced on the physiology, research and application of sEMG.
The author John Basmajian founded the International Society of Electromyography and Kinesiology (ISEK)and about five other professional biomedical societies as well.
Basmajian's pioneering work with sEMG and with EMG biofeedback dates back to the late fifties and his early work with iEMG (intramuscular or needle) EMG was published in Science magazine.
Carlo DeLuca is a brilliant researcher, one of the world's current leaders in the field, now that Basmajian has attained Emeritus status (McMaster University.)
If you work with pain, physical therapy, physiatry, biofeedback, kinesiology, you can't go wrong with this book. I've heard that a new edition is in the works.
Basmajian also did a classic biofeedback book as well.
