This book concerns a fascinating subject--Oscar Wilde's brilliant, revolutionary literary criticism, a series of essays and essay-dialogues published under the title _Intentions_. Unfortunately, Danson neither illuminates Wilde nor credits him with the originality and daring that Wilde's literary criticism deserves. Danson's writing is a mix of murky jargon and an occasional interesting insight.

I read the book for a class assignment and found it very difficult to read. The author's thoughts are chopped with quotes in almost every sentence making it very hard to follow. After the first 100 pages I had to go back to reread the text because I had no idea what I had just read. Danson speaks a language only a fellow doctor of Enlish could translate accurately.

When I told my mom that we were reading The Importance of Being Earnest in our English class, she thought it would be a good idea to pick up the Cliff Notes for me to study. I appreciate the guesture, but it was completely unncecessary.

The play itself is only about 80 pages long, just 10 pages more than the Cliff Notes. So don't expect to save any time by reading Cliff Notes instead of the play.

Also, the play isn't really that confusing at all. There are only a handful of characters and the dialouge is not hard to understand (though it isn't written in a modern dialect). While reading this play (I finished it in one night), I never once was confused or lost.

Cliff Notes can be useful for long, boring, confusing works such as The Scarlet Letter. But something as short and simple as The Importance of Being Earnest stands fine on it's own. Skip the Cliff Notes and just read the play. It's actually pretty funny and you'll probably enjoy it. I did.

While the book was readable I was acutally dissapointed in the fact that what trials were included, they didn't seem to be well searched out, more as though they were writing about gossip on the street. I hate to say anything bad but I do not believe that this is worth the money I spent to purchase it with.

A very slim volume at a very big price--what little information there is in it is interesting but can be found elsewhere.

I'm a Colombian living in Montreal Canada, and I just wanted to buy a book that showed the life of Colombia. But this book doesn't show the real life of Colombia. Is not an objective book. It doesn't tells the complete overview or the truth. It just gives a small and uncomplete idea of the rural and most poor parts or places of Colombia. And it doesn't reflects at all, the real life of Colombian People. The book excludes completely all the beautiful major cities, the normal style of life of the metropolitan areas or the urban life style. It excludes all the modern and technological side of the country. In the hole book, you can't find a photograph of BOGOTA D.C., the capital city!! or Medellin city, another major and pretty city. There are no photos of any University, or a famous shopping mall. The book only shows the most poor, undeveloped and sad views of Colombia. I know that Colombia as, any other South American country, has many economic and social problems. But is not a 100% poor country, with only jungles, and no cities, no schools, no universities, no malls, no world trade centers, no big buildings or important constructions or no technology. I just waste my money!!! This is NOT Colombian life. Don't buy this book. This doesn't deserves even 1 star. I give a rate of 0 stars.
