is arrested, tried, convicted, condemned and absolved. All in absentia!
This Kafka-esque book is unusual and worth reading.
Wheldon, a British physician, wrote an earlier book, also starring the mysterious A, entitled The Course of Instruction. This is an important book and deserves to be in print at all times.

Wheldon, a British physician, is a fine writer whose early work will particularly appeal to those whose lives are presently halted or in a state of flux, whether due to ennui or existentialism.
Another Wheldon title in the same vein is The Viaduct.
