I recently finished his book in just a few hours. Excellent! The book reveals his life as a child, facts about his biological dad and his step dad, and his lovely mother. Many chapters actually moved me to tears. This man is humble, extremely talented and gifted.
A definite Must Read! You will enjoy the trip down memory lane with Clay.

This book is truly a masterpiece! I read this book because I am a Clay Aiken fan, and I thought, 'Hey, a book by Clay Aiken, this should be cool.' I would recommend this book for anyone! Even if you aren't a fan of Clay, this is still an inspiring book. Let's just say: I laughed, I cried, it moved me!" I'm ordering the book and the audio cds. This is one of those books that you read front to back, then open it right back up and read it again!

Clay Aiken is one of the few celebrities I look up to. He has devoted fans because people see him as a friend or a brother. He is a very kind, humorous, and generous man. I am glad I read this book.

I don't really like to write reviews, but I couldn't resist this one. Let me just start by saying I wasn't a fan of Clay when he was on Idol. I guess I was a bit young to really appreciate his talent. Well I've rediscovered him and have become a HUGE FAN. I can call myself a claymate.

Anyway, this book is great. I finished it in a day. I couldn't put the book down, not even for a minute. From the very beginning Clay opened himself up and showed that he's vulnerable. He says that he wants people to realize what you see is what you get when it pertains to him. You can't help but cry when things are rough, and smile when he sees the light at the end of the tunnel.

This may be a spoiler, but one of the many things that really stood out for me was when he was talking about his stepdad. When his stepdad died, you can tell at that time, Clay felt incomplete, not knowing whether he was loved by him or not. Then he remembered a story his mom told him; his mom said, a friend of his dad had visited him and he was talking about his brother Brett and how he knew he would turn out to be a great man. Then his stepdad said, "my other son is going to be a famous singer one day because he has the most beautiful voice."

That part of the book really touched me bc I felt like he got his closure and he knows his stepdad really loved him.

Anyway, I don't mean to go on and on, but this is a great book and is a page turner. You can't help but love Clay more and I'm sure people who read this book can relate to him in so many levels.

This book taught me that searching for my own voice to be who I want to be is not only Okay, IT'S VERY MUCH NEEDED!

Clay Aiken is not afraid to be who he is and this book is his story about what he did to become a man who is still learning, living and sharing with others.

We've got a problem here. On one hand we have...The Andalite Chronicles, far and away the best book in the Animorphs series. Mixing in elements from different genres (plenty of science fiction, a little adventure, a sprinkle of romance (!) and just enough twist to make it superb,)it cumulates in an interesting truth that I never would have guessed, but makes the series so much better. I'd love to tell it here, but no spoilers :(

On the other hand, I would never recommend this series because of the anticlimaxes in the last book. This makes for Elfangor, Loren, Alloran, and Tobias being cheated, but this bright star doesn't balance out book 54 (you can see my review there).

The Andalite Chronicles was one of the best books I've ever read!
When Elfangor and a fellow artish are called to board a Skirt Na ship,he finds two humans,Lorren and Chapman (ring a bell?).Before they return the humans to Earth, they must first go after a second Skirt Na ship which holds the Time Matrix, a deadly weapon.Through their adventure to retrieve the Time Matrix, Elfangor And Lorren fall in love. In the end, Elfangor goes to Earth with Lorren,morphs to human, and marries Lorren. But it soon ends when the Ellimist takes Elfangor back to his people so that one day, he may give the Andalite Morphing power to five human kids.

This book is my favorite of the Megamorphs Alternamorphs etc. except for the Hork-Bajr chronicles. I loved hearing Elfangor's story and learning about Tobias's mother. You also get part of Visser Three's story, and an inside scoop on Arbon and the Taxxons. (The Answer #53)

I think that it is a definate must-read in the series, and it explains a lot. For some parts of it, it helps if you have read a few other books in the series.

"Just give the humans over to the captain,they aren't your problem." I was wrong, the humans were my problem. Infact,I was about to have alot of problems.' These are the words and thoughts of Elfangor Sirrinial Shamtul,an Andalite aristh or cadet in training to become a warrior. The Andalites and the Yeerks have been at war for many years. Neither side seems to be able to destroy the other. Arasth Elfangor has has been called to the battle bridge, to be sent on a mission within the hour. The mission that will change his life forever. This is a colorful book in which Applegate throws in some good descriptions of what is happening at the time. *A thrilling book that keeps the pages turning. Visser Three's story is also told in this story. It tells who is responsible for creating the abombination that calls itself Visser Three,the only Yeerk to have aquired and Andalite body. Let us hope he is the last. When danger rears its ugly head, Elfangor puts his hoof down and stands up to the Visser. A must read.

Here I am back again on my quest to reread and review all of the Animorphs books in the series. I noticed there are other reviewers who are older than the target audience, and I'm one of Those out there who enjoyed the series even though it "was for kids." This novel has a broad based appeal to it, for many reasons, and on many levels.

This book is more in depth and has better character development/longer story than most of the others simply because its twice as long in page count. For some readers, like myself, that's an advantage, but for others who have less patience for reading, this probably isn't a good one to start out with. The novel stands fine on its own, but reading the rest of the series of Animorphs 1-13 would be helpful, if not critical to understanding the small bits and parts to the plot.

The main character is Elfangor, known in books 1-13 as the dying alien called an Andalite who gave five young humans the ability to become any animal they touch. This process, called "morphing" was technology known only to the Andalites until that time. This novel tells the story of his life from the time he enters the military, until his gruesome death which began the Animorphs series in book #1: The Invasion. Full of fire to leave his cadet status behind and become a full warrior, Elfangor finds himself and a fellow cadet in a small mission which balloons out into something much larger. What begins as a standard boarding of a Skrit-Na ship (think the famous aliens from Close Encounters, although they're expanded on as having two different life cycles in the book), lands two humans in Elfangor's daily life. One of them is a girl named Loren, and the other is a name fans will recognize from previous series, Chapman. The humans were abducted by the Skrit-Na as either medical experiment fodder or to be placed in a zoo, and they're promised to be returned home. Elfangor and his comrade Aubron are assigned with a less-than-favored War Prince to take the humans back to earth, erase their memories, and send them on their way. It turns out, however, that Aubron learns something from the data downloaded from the Skrit-Na records, and to the entire crews amazement, they have a location for the most powerful weapon ever known, the Time Matrix. Believed to be a creation of the Ellimists, it has the ability to alter history itself, wiping out entire races before they ever have a chance to exist. As if the fact this super weapon has been found is not enough, its destination is enough to knock the Andalites off of their hooves. The Time Matrix is destined for the Taxxon home world, which is riddled with their most vile enemy, the Yeerks. They will not hesitate to use it as a weapon of mass destruction or worse. Taxxons and Yeerks have an alliance, the huge centipede like Taxxons become voluntary hosts for the parasitic, slug like Yeerks. Their home world is far from any place either cadet wants to go, but duty demands they grow up very quickly and go to war if necessary. The chase for the Time Matrix results in both action, humor, and tragedy as the reader is introduced to who we know as the ultimately evil Visser Three. There are several interesting twists and turns to this book, although nothing which immediately leaps out until the end. It's a very well written, well thought out story with the usual blend of suspense, battle, humor, fleshes out more thoroughly what the Andalite world and life is like, and a story about growing up. In my opinion, part of the appeal which reaches all audiences of all ages is we can relate to the characters. We feel for Elfangor, even as he has to make some harsh decisions, such as killing thousands of defenseless Yeerks. Even if they're his enemy, is that not murder? Will he defy direct orders of his commander and ruin his future by doing what he thinks is right? Is it truly right at all? These aren't the main points of the book, as it focuses on the story itself much more. They do, however, exist, just as the strength of the human spirit is shown with Loren, and the devious greed and darker side of human nature is displayed by Chapman. At one point, he tries to strike a trade with the Visser by selling out the entire planet earth to be slaves. In contrast, Loren's inner strength keeps the Visser from completely taking control of the awesome power of the Time Matrix. This book also gives a very, very interesting twist to the character of Tobias. That one, I admit, caught me completely off guard, and Tobias fans will love it. What's told in this book is important in some of the others in the series which come after it, particularly those which deal with Tobias directly. All in all, this is a very good book which is well written, and an overall good read. It's a very refreshing approach to Sci Fi, taking a very old idea of time travel or meddling with time and remaking it to be new again.

I loved this book as a kid and now own it and read it to my kids. I love everything about it (the pictures and the story).

This is an all around great book! We have loved reading this book over and over. It brings a smile to your face and lifts you up! As authors ourselves, it is inspirational to see books written by other authors.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

This book has been one of my favorite children's book since I was young. Today i find it as an inspiration that a book can stay with a child throughout their entire life.

This book is my proclaimed favorite book of all my childhood. I read this book so much that I had to buy a replacement for it when I was 18 because the original was falling apart. I cannot wait for the birth of my daughter so I can read to her about the silly story of a town that receives its food from the sky until the weather makes a turn for the worse. The pictures still crack me up, and the detail is quite nice. As I grew older I searched for different foods and hidden details in the illustrations. I always liked the length of this book, because most bedtime stories seemed too short for me. I grew up an avid reader from a family with little time or money to keep me occupied, getting my amusement from books.

I can't believe this book has 5 stars. . I'm so confused. I bought this book for my kids for Christmas after reading the rave reviews...and I can't express how completely disappointed I am. Rather than being "whimsical" the book was more "disturbing" with a touch of "nauseating". After I read this book to my six year old she offered to take it to her school and donate it to the school library. . . that oughta tell you something.

I am a divorce attorney. I order ten copies of this book at a time and give copies out to people who are hurting. You can read this book in one night, and I recommend that you read this book over again during the next days as needed.

When my own girlfriend/partner had a sudden stroke, I was devastated. One of my divorce clients who I had given this book to, told me, Gary, there is this book.... I read this book again that night, and found it to be quite helpful as I supported my Marilee with her stroke and then a painful death from cancer that was discovered.

This is an excellent book for anyone who is experiencing a loss, be it due to divorce or separation, or any other loss, such as a sudden illness of a loved one, or even the loss of your own employment, etc. Also, people who initiate a divorce are also suffering from a loss, albeit a less sudden loss. They are faced with the loss of the dream that they had when they committed to their partner.

This book walks through many of the steps involved with loss, and the three mega-stages of surviving, healing and growing.

But this book! Dollar for dollar, it will be one of the very best investments you will ever make. When you are next hurting due to an unexpected loss, read this book that day, and the next day or days as you need to. And buy a second copy of this book to give to friends who are devastated by loss.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ!! ITS SO POWERFUL FOR YOUR HEART, BODY, AND SOUL!!

This is one of the best Self-Help books ever written! Even though it is a little corny and uses bad poems, I use it every time I have had a major loss and it has served me well. It defines loss and the stages of grief, and helps you work your way through them.

My younger sister gave this to me 15 years ago when I was going through of very painful divorce. She was reluctant to give a book to me and told me so. However, the type of book it is gives you little bits of stuff to hold onto as you go through the emotional roller coaster of losing someone you love, be it from divorce or death.

I have purchsed several copies of this book over the past years to help others. There were days I didn't know how I was going to get out of bed. So, I'd pick it up and skim through it and it really made a difference.

My latest purchase was form the widower of the sister that first bought it for me. She died of leukemia at only age 50 in April 2007. I thought that perhaps if he knew she had bought this book for me, that it would also help him.

I recommend that one keeps extra copies for those times when we don't know quite what to say to someone who is hurting. This book says it for us.

This is a great book. Although a lot of the book centers around divorce, it is a great help for those who have suffered a death. Although don't get most of the poems it is a great help and makes you realize you are not going through this alone, there are people who feel the same as you.

Nothing I could write here would explain how great of a book you are about to purchase. All I can say is... I loved it as a child and my son loves it. Stop wasting time and buy it now!!

let me just say first off (and some of you may boo at me for this) that i am not a big fan of poetry, especially those that don't rhyme, layered with so much metaphor wrapped in some sort of old english language. those of you who can appreciate those, know i'm more than eager to submit in the "im not worthy! im not worthy!" throes. call it barbaric or just plain shallow, but i'd rather stick to the sing-songy rhymes of my elementary days.

now, saying that i absolutely loved Where the Sidewalk Ends should not be construed as a statement that Silverstein's work is shallow. piddling my knowledge might be about bodies of poetry, in whatever form, this one thing i am sure of: that though this book can be read to kids (and [gasp!] can actually be understood and enjoyed by them), it somehow still manages to deliver punchlines that could draw forth a surprised smile or chuckle from an adult--at least those not totally drowning in cynicism or morbid depression. but who knows...

a lot of the poetry here are funny (not outright hilarious, more like plain goofy), and yet come to think of it, still some of those are actually quite sad, with undertones about life and life experiences we take for granted. like the "Snowman", "Invention", "What's in the Sack?", "I Won't Hatch!", "The Garden", "The Little Blue Engine", and even the subtly poignant "Love".

whether you actively seek a moral in any of the poems or just want to go for some light reading, this book (in my opinion) is sure to leave you with a wistful feeling. exactly about what...well, i can't say. but i loved it. and for me that's more than okay.

Got it for my girlfriend.. she loves it. I had never read it before and the poems are very cute, for both kids and adults. I highly recommend it.

Shel Silverstein's poems are so enjoyable because they are fun but also touch on the realities of life. Along with the fun poetry are some great illustrations!

I loved this book as a child. My kids like it. It is hilarious. The poems are absolutely hysterical and easy to remember. They are gross, silly and use fun words- is there anything better to a kid?

Buy this. Read it. Love it.

Of course, if you're uptight, think children should never laugh too loudly, then this would NOT be the book for you.

This is a great book to add to your toddlers bedtime routine. The illustrations are beautiful and the words have a simple rhyme that cues your little one that it's time for bed/time for sleep. Each animal is with their parent preparing them for sleep, and the last two pages is a mother and her child. My 1 year old seems to really enjoy it.

If your kids are like mine, these sweetest illustrations will actually make them cuddle into you by the second page turn! One you can read from birth on, these sweet, short rhymes, reinforce the love of a parent and baby child in a beautiful, creative way.

Time for Bed is a gorgeous children's bedtime book with wonderful watercolor illustrations. It has been my granddaughter's favorite book and so I ordered several for baby shower gifts. As one who does watercolors myself, I am delighted with the work of the artist as well as the writer. It sets the right comforting tone for putting a little one to sleep.

This book is full of sweetness ,beautiful pictures and sing song prose. We love it and will keep giving it as a gift.
This book will create sweet dreams for sure!

This is a great book for babies or toddlers who are getting a bed time routine. The rhyming throughout the book and beautiful pictures keep my 16 month old entertained throughout the book. And,when she sees the little girl on the last page she knows it's time for her to go to bed as well. Highly recommended!

A well written book covering investing in no load mutual funds and a list of DONT"S visa vi investing. The author has a method for getting out of the stock market at the right time. Emphasis on taking profits and limiting one's losses. Easy to read.

This book is a gem! Have a paper and pencil ready to take notes to start your own investment portfolio. Keep in mind the Author has been on both sides of the fence as he will tell you, and thereby offers some very insightful and extremely informative ways to help you in the markets. His absolute best advise given in the book is 'cut your losses!'
An outstanding book!

THANK YOU Albert Thomas! I found this book by accident while searching the internet for info on on trend-following for mutual funds, something I was sort-of doing on my own, but without a plan or the great advice Al relays in this book. I'm 13 months into investing using this book's simple method. I started Oct 1, 2006, and to date, my return after all commissions is 37% - the S&P 500 has gone up 14.8% in the same time period.

Al tells you in the book that you can get this kind of return in a bull market, and easily beat the market. From my experience, he's not putting you on. It's such a simple plan, and doesn't require any big amount of time. It's a fun, easy read, it makes sense, and it works. He's a no BS guy and knows what he's talking about.

I was one of the many who were duped into the "buy and hold" mentality over the years - until I lost big 2000-2002. I vowed to never let that happen again. This book really woke me up to how protecting your capital is SO important. This simple tip (and how to do it) combined with Al's showing you how to be in the best ETFs or funds - and WHEN - is fantastic advice. Do get the service he recommends for picking the ETFs/funds, it is WELL worth the small expense. Note that Al is NOT selling a thing, as I've heard other authors do in their books. He's just giving you a fantastic money-making plan.

Do not wait, get this book! Easily the best $20 I've ever spent.

I have to say the jury's still out on this book.

It's a trading manual based on 200 and 50 day moving averages. It uses the simplist of indicators. Hasn't been a bull market yet, so I can't really say how it works. In retrospect it works very well, but so do many back tested strategies. Does have some links to free websites that give timing signals, and you can get the authors e mail newsletter for three months for free. It comes out weekly.

Nevertheless, it is unique in it's style and approach.

I like the fact that the authors e mail shows you his positions and what he bought them at. It's his money in real time. I would buy the book because of it's unique approach and common sense advice. It should be updated to cover ETFs. Even this revised version is four years old.

Buyer beware-It is poorly edited and organized. It needs at least two read throughs plus visiting the sites mentioned and subscribing to the e mail newsleter in order for it all to make sense.

It's a good read and it will probably help you make some money and/or presevre capital.

I've spent a number of years researching and developing my own trading systems that produced average results. Like most people, I don't want to spend most of my time in front of a computer screen watching the price of a stock tick up and down. I was also tired of having to watch for news that might affect my investments. I wanted a method that would allow me to make money and free up my time. Al came through with a simple, but very effective method.
Living in the information age, we forget that simple is often the best. Al helps the investor to know when to be in the market or on the sidelines just watching. Sometimes the hardest action is no action and being on the sidelines with your account in cash can be the best place during a down market.
I enjoyed reading Al's book and I highly recommend it.

We absolutely love Yolen and Teague's 'Dinosaur' books. The text is fun and rhythmic and the pictures are just incredible. My son is eight years old and loves these books, just now when he came in as I was on the computer he pointed to the books and said "thanks!!!". We have only one comment. Please, please, please, make all of them available in large book editions. The board books are simply too small to appreciate the amazing detail in the illustrations.

My three year old has been into dinosaurs for a year and is still going strong. He received this for his third birthday and it quickly became his favorite bedtime story. We always end with a kiss and he roars a goodnight. Lol.

I like how the dinosaurs are named in the pictures because it not only teaches bedtime manners, but also dinosaur identification. Believe it or not, the boy can name dinosaurs better than he knows the alphabet.

If your little one is into dinosaurs, this is highly recommended for the collection.

My son was given this book as a gift. I was disturbed by the text. It makes children feel that they should just do what they are told like "good" little children. Children should be allowed to express their anxiety about bedtime, not just shut up and go right to sleep because their parents said so. Children ask for that one last drink, that one last story, etc, because they want to make sure their parents are there for them. They want to feel secure. Some children have a hard time transitioning at the end of the day and need those reassurances. That is why this book bothered me. I do think the illustrations are great, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of one.

This book gets high marks for every aspect. The illustrations are really well done and so funny. My daughter loves the silly antics while my husband and I appreciate the looks on the faces of their human parents. Adults experienced in trying to get a little one to bed will appreciate the wry humor while children will love the general silliness. The absurdity of the huge dinosaurs in tiny human beds is greatly amusing to my daughters. The prose is also really well done and very easy to read, lending itself to some dramatics and a nice song-like rhythm.

I never did truly see the point of this novel, but hey, it was fun and everyone loves dinosaurs. I think it's a good project for writing, and I like the admittely contrived concept of looking at everyone's thoughts. But aside from that, why?

While the bonus installments of Animorphs are K.A. Applegate's chance to shine (a.k.a. Visser, Megamorphs #1) they can also spell disaster. And this book spells every letter. It's as though Applegate rubbed her hands and said, "Here's my chance to put in every random idea I've ever had along with ten hours of research on dinosaurs. No, make that five hours." And she does.

The adventure in the book starts with some of the Animorphs stuck in a dinosaur. Yep, that's right. Inside a dinosaur. It is as ridiculous as it sounds. From there, they venture into the land of dinosaurs trying to find one another. The dinosaurs range from huge deadly raptors who are conveniently acquired, to Stegasaurus who are being zapped by evil ant aliens.

To try to divert attention from the convenient ways all six Animorphs can come away unscratched by a massive T-Rex, Applegate puts in big crabs with about twenty eyes. Oh, and they invented broccoli. They're named Mercora. Their enemies are lots and lots of evil ants called the Nesk, which are the pitifully two dimensional race who tries and fails to be as interesting as Yeerks.

Are these elements not ridiculous enough for you? There's more. They make dinosaur sandals. They steal nuclear weapons that happen to be invented back in that time. And somehow they all survive when a massive meteor hits the world and kills everything.

Sometimes Applegate goes a step too far in the absurd (though occassionally enjoyable) ideas throughout her Animorph series. Time of the Dinosaurs goes an entire staircase. Only die hard Animorphs fans should read this. And even then, remember that this is a bonus installment not part of the main series essential to understand the plot line... thankfully.

then there is Cassie,Ax,and Rachel. Well they go to save the people in
the sub,While they are saving the day nuclear sub blows up and they get blown back to in time with the dinosaurs.While they are there they

encounter two alien species one friendly one not so friendly. So they create another explosion and they go home

the book i read was the animorphs: megamoarphs in the time of the
dinosaurs. the book starts out with Marco on of the five animorphs
talking about a nuclear sub that sank in the ocean. so he talks to his
friends and they go to the sunken sub and boom it happens if you
want to find out what happened read the book . but they wake up
and there in the time of the dinosaurs and all of their morphs are to
weak for them to use in that world so they have to get new morphs
but how. when they wake up tobias and Rachel were eaten by a
dinosaur and the rest of them are being chased by another dino.
they reach land and demorph and they relies that this is real and
that they might not go home. But they knew that tobias and werenýt
going no matter what because they were eaten as you now know.
Now the remaining animorphs decide that they need to get a fire
going to survive and keep other animals away. but what they dont
know is that tobias and rachel are still alive and are trying to get out
of the dinosaurs stomach. And back at camp a t-rex shows up and
they run they thought that the fire would keep the dinosaurs away .
to find out what happens in the rest of the book youýll have to read
the book but on my opinion the book was one of the best iýve ever
read on a scale of one to ten it was definetly a nine.

Sorry, but this book is definately only three stars. It all starts out when Marco hears about a sunk sub and the Animmorphs go to investigate. Something goes wrong and suddenly they find themselves in preostoric times!

I don't like this book because: a)It has the whole Sario Rip thing that was already put in another book. b)When they find themselves stuck in the Creostastes(sorry, don't know how to spell it) Period, there's another alien speices. I don't like that whole thing, along with The Mutation #36, and c)How it ended was very, very predictable. I don't know about you, but I knew that the comet was going to blow them back to their own time sooner or later.

Sorry Applegate, but you couldn't give us another winner like THe Andalite Chronicles (I have a review there, too)

This is a rich, wonderful novel. Towards the end, I intended to read over lunch. One hour stretched to two, then even longer. I laughed out loud several times, and then cried. The waitress finally came over and asked, "Okay, what are you reading?! I've got to get a copy!" Everyone who loves great writing, wonderful characters and beautiful storytelling needs to get a copy. This kind of book doesn't come along every day - maybe not even every ten years. It's breathtaking.

I have purchased so many copies of this book to give to my friends and family! Some people are intimidated by its size; it is worth every page!
Baseball, family, humor, religion, 60's.....all combined with a skill that had me reading passages aloud. I gave my copy away....i will buy another.

The interplay between family members is often magical.

Quite simply, The Brothers K is my favorite all-time read and David James Duncan my favorite all-time author. After devouring Duncan's first novel, The River Why, the story of fishing-obsessed Gus Orviston and his search for peace, I couldn't wait for his next offering. The Brothers K did not disappoint. Duncan is a masterful storyteller with an unmatched wit, a steady hand for plot development and an understanding of the human spirit like no other. He has the ability to weave words like Steinbeck. And his characters literally leap off the page, burning their way into your psyche and soul. As an author, myself, I am humbled by his talent. But as a reader, I thirst for more. In fact, in response to the age-old question, 'If you were stranded on a desert island and could have only one book, what would it be?', my answer is simple -- The Brothers K. Salmon Run

Duncan has written one of the GREAT American novels. It's so good I hope Hollywood never mucks with it.

As I was reading this book, I just couldn't believe how much I was enjoying it. Brilliant!
