An amazing book given through an amazing ladyReview Date: 2004-08-07
God's Way of Life was transcribed through automatic writings over several years' time. Whether you believe in the process or not, one thing is absolutely true -- open the book and the specific lines you cast your eyes upon will apply to your current circumstance every time. This is not a matter of writing generalizations so that 'it works' everytime. Each message is specific and powerful to the reader. Often, messages on adjacent pages will have no meaning at that point in time.
During her lifetime, Adelle never charged one cent for this book, rather it was funded by an anonymous donor. My Dad put it most succinctly after leaving her home in San Diego one day, when he said 'I like Adelle's religion, there's no collection plate.' And that was Adelle. She gave a great gift to the world both to the rich and famous and to normal and downtrodden. While it was never Adelle's wish for these books to be sold, I also know that she would not have wanted them lost or destroyed. God's Way of Life is a relic from a time now lost. While she may not be with us in body, her work lives on in this wonderful and amazing work that, in itself is a gift. And, as Adelle would have said herself, 'blessings to you all'.

God, Is That You?Review Date: 2002-08-19
To Hear God todayReview Date: 2003-01-23
An avid appreciator of the works of Gregg Braden (The Isaiah Effect: Decoding the Lost Science of Prayer and Prophecy portrays marvelous insight into the operations of this universe) and Sophy Burnham (The Path of Prayer: Reflections on Prayer and True Stories of How it Affects our Lives shows the depth of our need to connect with God), I found Katharine Giovanni's book, God, is that You?, splendidly down-to-earth.
The joy in reading different styles of writing lies in one's ability to glean meaningful and personally applicable concepts through slightly altered perspectives. Katharine's book reminds each of us that every individual remains important to our Creator. It grandly opens the door to connection by reminding the reader that any and all types of communication with God are appreciated. This presents an "everyday" approach to prayer where we can "talk" to God without fear and in so doing, we discover that indeed, we are not alone. Her own reflections and those of others in the text bring our emotions and a sense of humility into play. These feelings allow us to remove the barriers that we ourselves have created - ideas on when and how to pray - and the method of free-writing a conversation with God, I suspect, will warmly surprise anyone who undertakes this prayer quest.
Marc Gafni, the learned author of Soul Prints, suggests that "God loves a story....let us be the heroes of our own." In Ms. Giovanni's book, we are asked to renew our very personal connection to our loving God. As simplistic as this might sound, the results prove extraordinary. One might find the use of writing questions odd in light of the omniscience of God, but free will explains the freedoms given to man. In addition, writing questions to God allows us to focus our thoughts. Once the door to this magnificent experience of unity is open, you will have succeeded in making yourself available to new possibilities. What more generous love could exist than that of a "creator" who wants his creations to also have that power over their own lives.

"The Little Book Packs a Powerful Spiritual Punch!"Review Date: 2008-04-08
I have been familiar with the work of spiritual responsibility as taught by Christel Nani and Dr. Rebecca Grace for years now...and have found my personal and professional lives changed remarkably for the better for it. The basics for this book give a very simple, hands on, easy approach to seeing how we each tend to get in our own way while seeking what we want. This book strips away the fanfare and mystic fluff for basic truths about finding joy, being your best self, living your best life, and literally ridding oneself of one's own "stinking thinking." So many times we are our own worst enemy in achieving our own happiness. This book is probably the only book I pick up to re-read fairly often. I always seem to find something new - a new approach, a new idea, a new way to solve a problem each time I read it.
Now, if you are looking for an in-depth analysis of the belief system we carry with us, and how it can be detrimental to one's physical and emotional health - with a very detailed analysis of these issues and how to change, as well as countless specific informal case studies (author's anecdotes) -"Guidance 24/7" is not the book for you. "Guidance 24/7" is the fast, swift, quick, high-intensity dose of a shot of joy. If you want the more detailed analysis of tribal beliefs, lots of great illustrative case studies, and tons of specific resolutions as to how to proceed - you want Christel's later book - "Sacred Choices."
Basically I differentiate the two books this way....."Sacred Choices" is the long slow luscious sip of a frothy fabulous latte, while "Guidance 24/7" is the quick high-intensity shot of espresso..... either way, enjoy! P.S. I just ordered the "Confidence Code CD" - another must own item..... play it before bed and fall asleep to it.... the results are fabulous!
Whipped Cream, No CakeReview Date: 2007-07-09
This is not to say, it has no value. It is a quick and easy read and the author's experiences are fascinating. Some will find comfort but none will find depth. In many ways, this is like having the whipped cream but not the cake. It is frothy and light. I was expecting a more substance, detailed program for accessing guidance. This is not unlike those inspirational angel blurbs/chicken soup for the soul stories featured in womens magazines--marginally moving, completely forgettable.

Easy and Comforting!Review Date: 2007-04-28
This book is a very easy read but you'll want to read it over and over to make sure you get it all. Christel's examples and stories are fascinating! After reading this book, I can see angels in my life, and am much more prayerful for my own needs and others' needs, but also in gratitude for all I've been given. I love this book for its simplicity and integrity.

Great things come in small packages. . .Review Date: 2003-07-29
With regard to patriotism and Christianity, Mr. Niemeyer rightly recognizes that this nation was founded on Christian principles. Mr. Nyman posits that to found a nation on Christian principles is to found a fascist state. At this point in reading Nyman's review I began to question his sanity, or at least his motives. Regardless, I believe the U.S. is far from a fascist state. I dare say 99% of Americans and even most of the world would agree.
The bottom line is that this is a fabulous short read for "baby Christians" and long time Christians. This isn't C.S. Lewis, of course, but the scripture is sound, the examples timely and interesting, and the author apparently sincere. Kudos to Niemeyer for wearing his heart on his sleeve for Christ. Shame on Mr. Nyman for seemingly having a vendetta that is very un-Christlike vs. this wonderful and hopeful book.

A Very Important BookReview Date: 2007-02-02
I have studied Mysticism, Carl Jung, and NDEs extensively. I read about Nancy Clark in Kenneth Ring's HEADING TOWARD OMEGA. I then discovered that she held IANDS meetings in my area and attended. She has been a close friend now for 20some years. When I first met her I realized she had all the characteristics of someone that has had a true mystical experience, and that her only goal in life was making God as visible to the rest of us as He is to her. It's funny, but we don't give value to someone that has had a true mystical experience unless they've been dead for a thousand years. Don't let that be the case here.
All the time I've known Nancy, she has emphasized that it's the little everyday things that matter, and that God speaks to all of us. I always fimly believed that except for one exception - everyone but me. Then one day Nancy had a question for me that I thought about but couldn't answer. That Sunday the Gospel was read in church and I thought that it might contain the answer to Nancy's question and wrote it down because God might be using me to answer her. I never gave her the answer because I decided that God doesn't use me in that way. The next week Nancy emailed me that she had received her answer using the Bible technique that she describes in her book. It was the exact paragragh I had written down. I don't imagine the content that was that important - more important was God was saying to me, "Yes, I am speaking to you. I have been speaking to you, and I would really appreciate it if you would start listening."
That is why this book is so important. He was speaking to me, but I wasn't listening. Not because I didn't want to but because I didn't know how. That is part of what this book is; a how to book about hearing His Voice. It could easily be retitled The Basics of Hearing His Voice, or in my case, Hearing His Voice for Dummies.
If you are just beginning the spiritual path, you need this book. If you have been on the spiritual path, you need this book. And keep it on the nightstand - you'll be refering to it often.
A Loving, Humble, and Intelligent Masterpiece that's also BELIEVABLE!Review Date: 2008-01-13
The credibility of this book is perhaps its most singularly outstanding attribute. There's quite a bit of talk and banter about "spirituality" these days, and many people seem to be getting into the act. I am a diagnostic surgical pathologist and cytopathologist, and the default tendency toward skepticism is a strongly entrenched product of my training as a physician. I've also been in the "real world" workplace for over 13 years, and this has primarily served to reinforce that academically instilled skepticism on a practical level. So I was rather shocked when, having chosen this book because it seemed to be exactly what I was yearning for, I looked at the "About the Author" section and saw that Nancy Clark is a cytotechnologist! For those who don't know, it should be pointed out that cytotechnology is field that requires INTENSE concentration over prolonged periods of time with immensely important medical decisions riding on the cytotechnologist's diagnostic accuracy and ability to sometimes find a needle in a haystack. It is truly a mentally demanding profession and not a hospitable realm for flighty nut cases. I hold this group of people in extremely high regard! I didn't know she was one until AFTER I opened the book.
More important than any professional affiliation is the author's OBVIOUS honesty, which can be gleaned by any reader with even the most meager bit of common sense. There are several passages that point towards an unmistakable veracity of the narrative. For example, when describing her first mystical encounter, which was a short near death experience, if she were lying but trying to "make us believe" her, she would NOT have disclosed that her medical records failed to document the resuscitation effort and her having been discovered alive after removing the body sheet from her face, and then passing out. Instead, she would have omitted, glossed over, or even lied about the failure of medical documentation. If she were just trying to sell a story, it is also unlikely that she would disclose that her own family had, at least initially, not believed her story about the mystical encounter she had with The Light of God during the eulogy she gave, but disclose she did. If she were dishonest, or even if she were just exaggerating, is it likely that she'd point out that, due to failing vision, she had occasionally mourned for tire treads on the roadside that she had initially mistaken for dead animals? Um.....I don't think so!
The author also makes it abundantly clear that for much of her adult life, her thinking was primarily left-brained and quite firmly grounded in the physical "reality." For example, when she sits alone out in the countryside pondering words for her deceased friend's eulogy, she feels his presence, yet like most of us when faced with such an intuitive knowing, has the urge to dismiss it. She writes,
"A feeling of John's spiritual presence beside me startled me. My visual perception did not observe any shape or form of John. Yet I knew beyond my discerning intellect that what I was sensing deep within my inner self was true. My analytical brain was always trying to steer me away from my true feelings within with scolding words like, 'This can't be. John is dead. There has to be an explanation for this.' I reasoned that my mind was playing tricks on me, yet at the same time, I knew that I was experiencing something very real! When I acknowledged my friend's presence I felt totally relaxed and at peace. Only when my intellect and analytical side dominated by attempting to judge that moment, did I feel confused and startled."
In chapter 12, she states that,
"I have an analytical mind that often times questions whether I am indeed receiving Divine Inspiration, or am simply being guided by my ego-driven self. If I am skeptical, my impulse is to dismiss the information."
From the perspective of someone less spiritually aware (me), these acknowledgements of left brained, analytical orientation are rather comforting. Near the beginning of the book, the author asks us to read from our heart, not our head. That's a beautiful sentiment and sage advice. Still, it's refreshing to know that, with this book about spirituality, we don't have to park our brains at the door!
The telling of her personal life engages the reader with its poignant beauty, humility and, and unmistakable resonance of truthfulness. As a child, raised in a strict Ukrainian Catholic tradition, she communicated with God during long church services and one day even heard his voice. Her dreadful encounters with the authoritarian priest in the context of her marrying a non-Catholic are compellingly told. Her subsequent descent into spiritual limbo and the loss of her close friend, which was intimated to her in a prophetic dream, are heartbreaking, but somehow they fit into a grander plan. The plan included her mystical encounter with the Light of God during the eulogy, with the knowledge and wisdom gained from that communion.
It is this wisdom that is conveyed so eloquently, with such love and intelligence, that is the most profound part of this magnificent book. This is presented in great detail, yet with manifest empathy and compassion. It's so beautifully written that it's possible for the reader to miss some of the main points, which are sprinkled liberally throughout the book. But even that's not a problem, because there's a concise synopsis of the main points at the end of the book. The message of unconditional love and acceptance from the Creator near the end of the book is one of this book's many highlights. What makes it even sweeter is the unmistakable conclusion that this book is a work of NON-fiction.

Wonderfully nourishing ... Superb storytellingReview Date: 2007-01-27
In the beginning, this book reads like a page-turning novel while simultaneously being absolutely believable as reality. Laying the groundwork, Mrs. Clark gives us the sweetest story about a child's (her) relationship with God that I have ever heard. Then we are given a heartbreaking account of her experience as a young adult when a religious leader told her she was unloved by God, creating a crisis in her life.
Then begins the third, and most fascinating story, the one about her 1979 encounter with God, and she tells it beautifully and meticulously. My book has 17 pages with corners turned down, and much of the text is underlined. This sweet Child of God has much to offer those of us who are always looking for the next, and then the next bit of truth.

Superb Treatment of David's Life!Review Date: 2002-10-30
With the memory of those glowing reviews still fresh in mind, I decided to purchase the book version and see for myself if Beth Moore's teaching lived up to its reputation. I was certainly NOT disappointed. This book is an outstanding treatment of the triumphs and the tragedies of Israel's most famous king.
Moore takes practically every significant incident from David's life and applies the spiritual principles to life today. Through her exposition here, the reader gets to know David much better, and learns why he has been called "a man after God's own heart." The author's treatment is chronological, starting from the events surrounding David's emergence on the Biblical scene as a young boy to the transfer of his throne as an old man to his son Solomon.
I recommend this book very highly to anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of the life of King David. The book is very easy reading, yet is profound in its insights. Men and women, clergy and laity alike will benefit from Moore's painstakingly thorough work.
A Focused StudyReview Date: 2005-08-26
Moore begins the journey into David's life in the book of 1 Samuel. She uses several Biblical references and provides background into the trials and tribulations David faced. With God's assistance, David rose from basic obscurity into a position of amazing power. When he operates outside of God's will, he makes an unwise decision that will prove to unravel his long reign and have dire consequences on his family. In his earlier times, Moore depicts David who continually seeking God's guidance and is quick to offer praise to God. Yet, David was a man with a weakness for beautiful women. Although he was married, David enjoyed the attention his power garnered him from the fairer sex. Moore enhances the reader's understanding of how David's adulterous conduct with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband cast David out of God's will. On this subject, Moore states that David had a "far away heart." It was not until David was "bankrupt in spirit" over the death of his illegitimate son that he repented for his sins. Moore reminds the reader that although God will forgive us of our sins, He will pass judgement on us.
In A HEART LIKE HIS, Moore does a very good job of setting the scene. She takes us back to the beginning even before David had knowledge of the greater things in store for him. The book's lessons are based mainly on 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel. A HEART LIKE HIS would be a great tool for individual or group study. Each chapter is laden with cross-references to other Biblical references. At times, it was confusing because the complete Biblical citation was not used in the text. However, this was not distracting enough to detract from the great presentation of King David's reign.

Helpful Leadership QuotesReview Date: 2006-09-29
Some important topics that came through these quotes include developing leaders, encouraging those you lead, the value of a team, humility, hard work, the value of keeping a learner's attitude, high quality standards, the importance of understanding how diverse people can be, modeling good examples, morality, the importance of listening to those we lead, vision, goal setting, good communication with those we are leading, enjoying the task of leading, flexibility, the importance of good relationships, being vulnerable, and sharing leadership strategy with others. All of the above topics could probably be books in themselves, but they only get a few paragraphs each in this book. I personally found many of these quotes and the corresponding paragraph of explanation very helpful. The quotes are usually catchy, yet profound and thought inspiring.

A Hopeful View Of Lost Loved Ones and Our Greater ConnectionReview Date: 2000-07-10
She explores spiriual connections with lost loved ones from both her perspective and her client's point of view. This approach made the stories especially 'moving' for me. These are first hand testimonies and the positive effects on average individuals that I can relate to. Staying clear of jargon, she writes in a way that I would feel comfortable sharing these spiritual views with the cynics in my life.
Furthermore, Louise writes from the heart, no preaching, no 'rah rah' but simple offerings and suggestions to 'try' on your own.
After watching a friend endure the lost of a loved one, I find this book as the best gift I can share for a simple source of comfort, insight and growth.
If this is any indication of what's to come from Louise Haulk, I can't wait for her next release.
