Let Go of Your Old B.S. (Belief Systems)

Review Date: 2006-09-16
I used to think that success was all about having a lot of money, having a big house, and wearing diamond studded underwear. Sure, there is nothing wrong with these things...except maybe the diamond studded underwear, that is just wrong on too many levels...but to me, success is not so much about externals as it is a deep inner feeling of knowing that you are doing something with your life that can make you feel good about who you are as a person.

I've mentioned in several other reviews how there was a time in my life where I felt like an abject failure...that I was a huge dissapointment to all of life. I'd look at my world and see nothing but despair and negativity and hopelessness. I really wanted to end my life at one time. But looking back on those days, I realize that I didn't want to die as much as I wanted all those thoughts I had about my life to die.

But how do we change our thoughts? How do we go from thinking that we are failures to thinking that we're successful? We change our thoughts about ourselves by changing the thoughts we have about ourselves. I'm sorry to be so simplistic. I'm sorry I don't have some "Wa-zoo" device I could sell to you like the Nega-vac 3000 that sucks away all your negative thoughts and feelings, but the bottom line is that if you want to start thinking and feeling good about your life, then you are going to have to start thinking and feeling good.

You see, we do play a role in our own lives. We do have a say as to what we are going to think about. If you woke up feeling kind of lousy this morning, I want you to do something. I want you to go back to bed. That's it. Put the covers back over you and get up again...but this time get up thinking a positive thought about yourself...this time get up feeling as though you have something to offer life because you do; YOU!

This book is a total Godsend. It is to be devoured. It is to be assimilated. When you read it you can just feel little skyrockets of joy going off in your mind. I'm not gonna kid you, it does take work to change your thoughts and it takes even more work to keep them changed but think about this, the moment you begin to change, the WHOLE UNIVERSE will change with you. It has to! There is no set reality! All reality is, is your ideas about it, anyway.

So you could be a totally boring, mouth breathing drone or you could actually become something wonderful...something beautiful...you could be like me! And I am wonderful! I am beautiful! I am rich! I am successful! But then again, so are you. The only difference is, is that you aren't thinking it...you aren't feeling it. You are a success now. You really are. Consider this your invitation to become even more successful!

I wish you well on your journey of Light.

There have been dozens of books telling you that your thoughts create your reality and how to use that to your advantage. This is one of the original such books. The major difference is that because Holmes was inspired as one of the original channels through which this very important information came through, I could fell that his words in this book were highly charged with transformational spiritual energy. I'm not talking of some New Age foo-foo idea. And I'm not talking about religiosity (religion, the bureacracy between God and man!). I'm talking about grounded, very real direct spiritual power. What he offers in this book is the real deal. I have known of this stuff for years. And yet when I read this book, I intentionally approached it with "beginner's mind" as if I've never heard of this stuff before. And as good as my life already was going into this book, applying what Holmes writes has boosted my life to a new level of inner fullness. Buy it, read it, apply it every moment and this will transform your life.

Ernest Holmes at his best.

Ernest Holmes' philosophy, applied with a somewhat specialized focus and in capsule form. A magnificent book to pack for trips, taking little space and keeping the spirits up. Unconditionally recommended.

The wisdom of Ernest Holmes

If you have never read Ernest Holmes before, this is a great book to start with. It is simple to read, yet it conveys Ernest Holmes' wisdoms at the core, and directly.

Ernest Holmes will tell you about the concept of Divine Mind, Spiritual Supply, Mental Laws, and why our thoughts create our experience.

The first time I read his concept of "Entering The Absolute", it really opened up a new way of thinking for me. He says that to enter the absolute means, be able to think independently of any existing circumstances or problems. Meaning, if you have any problem or situation which you wish to solve or get out from, the only way to get out from it is to spend your focus mainly on what you really want - which is the solution/answer. If you are poor, you have to think thoughts of wealth, abundance and success, to dwell on the "Infinite Supply" and never on the present circumstances. Many other authors have written about true stories where people have gotten themself out of their situation of lack, by daily thinking and feeling about what they truly desire.

I recently read that the author Anthony Robbins, many years ago when he was broke, he set such big 'impossible' goals for himself such as owning a huge castle to live in, a limosine, being a multi-millionaire and being the successful person he desired to be. And he mentally rehearsed each goal everyday, as if its already achieved, that within JUST ONE YEAR he achieved all of his goals above! The castle, the limo, the wealth and life he dwelled on everyday!

For those who are interested in this topic, you may want to read "As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen. However, I still think 'Creative Mind and Sucess' is the best. If you are interested in Ernest Holmes, I recommend his other books such as "This Thing Called YOU", "Love And Law", "The Essential Ernest Holmes".

Its kind of hard to believe that this book proceeded Ernest Holmes classic text "Science of Mind", but I am glad it did and would recommend this book prior to reading Science of Mind. This is truly the secret unlocked but with a powerful spiritual foundation. Bottom line we are each God, the Universe in expression, and that truth appears in our life according to consciousness (awareness) and I will say it again and again BELIEF. For those looking for a quick fix, put this book down and go out and find something else. While results may happen rather quickly this spiritual path is for those willing to commit themselves to a better life by expanding their consciousness and putting out to LIFE. Once I embraced and realized my relatonship to the One, a great sense of peace, poise, fearlessness and confidence starting expressing through me. I thought I had these before but the foundation was largely ego based. Many of the ideas and concepts I believed as a child have been revealed to me in this book, concepts, ideas, and truths of prosperity, abundance, peace, poise, health and that I can live in this world bu not be of it. I am by far not a religious zealot or fly by night "im spiritual" type. I use these ideas to better my life and they are expressing through me here and now. I am manifesting more prosperity and abundance in all forms like never before. I pull this book out as a part of my daily study when im feeling good and when I need a pick me up. Former Oaklund A's pitcher Barry Zito sings the book praises for helping him become a a star pitcher.

Ive read all of Ernest Holmes book, but this one has to be the best for those on a new path or wanting to study and practice these principles especially when you cant make it to a local churtch or study group. Science of Mind is the ultimate text, but the language is very rich , Creative Mind was written almost 100 years ago but is still very prevalent today. YOU CANT DO WRONG WITH STARTING HERE!

This volume is shaped around intuitive explorations of women's spiritual journey: "Owning Self," "The Imperative of Intimacy, "Mothering," "Generations," "Sacredness in the Ordinary," "Images of the Divine." Though my 18-year-old daughter and I have come to perceive ourselves as women very differently, this is a volume we both have come to love. I wouldn't think of sending her off to college without her own copy!

Marilyn Sewell's work on "Cries of the Spirit" was more than worth the price and I have wanted to thank her over and over. A death in the family and I grab her book to find the right words, a marriage and there she is again, providing a womans point of view from a variety of woman that I have found extremely useful. No matter the occassion, a new baby in the family for instance, and flip of the pages and Marilyn found one more woman who said what I want to say beautifully. Not to mention the times I sit alone, staring at the bay and use the poetry for inspiration for myself. "Cries of the Spirit" (and laughter I might add) is a worth while find!

A truly rich and diverse sourcebook of poetry and prose which defines women through our writings. The book is an anthology of more than 300 poems and several of prose pieces by such authors as: Annie Dillard, Denise Levertov, Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, Marge Piercy and earlier writers such as Hildegard von Bingen and Margaret Fuller. My favorite writings are from the hearts and minds of writers such as Joyce Carol Oates, "Growing Together," Margaret Atwood, "Five Poems For Grandmothers," Gwendolyn Brooks, "The Mother," and Annie Dillard "Holy the Firm". These writings offer visions of women from the ordinary to the eclectic. Marilyn Sewell, a Unitarian Universalist minister & doctoral candidate, offers an inciteful introduction to this book. I often dip into this book when seeking just the right poem to review or to remind myself how diverse the women's writing movement is. I give this book a huge FIVE stars. And I hope others will be able to enjoy this book as much as I have.

This is the only anthology of poetry that I have ever read cover to cover without putting it down. This book is comfort, a talk with your best girlfriends, encouragement, enlightenment and thought-provocation all between two covers. I would recommend it for any woman's private library and the libraries of her friends who love good words, moving images and beauty.

I've had this book for about three years, and given it as a gift numerous times to my women friends, because it's the perfect companion in any mood and for any occasion. Marilyn Sewell has collected a broad spectrum of poetry from women, both famous poets and not-so-famous, and collected the entries into categories that make it simple to find a reading for just about any occasion or ceremony. There are wise words here, beautifully presented. Bring this book back into print! Buy it! Have it on hand as an instant resource, along with the collections by Elizabeth Roberts and Elias Amidon ("Earth Prayers," "Life Prayers," "Prayers for a Thousand Years") for all those occasions when you need the exact right perfect reading for an important moment.

I really enjoyed this book and felt like I was there with the author. I read it and immediately re-read it. It provided information to me regarding my spritiaul path in this lifetime. We have to cut through the crust of life to find our true path in life. We have to know and believe in our feelings, and trust our feelings in our spirit.

Reading this book, especially the passage, "When something is shown to you, the universe opens up . . ." it reminded me of William Blake's, "To see the world in a grain of sand; and a heaven in a wild flower; hold infinity in the palm of your hand; and eternity in an hour." The author must have had a direct experience with something of the heavens, and how furtunate we all are that she returned to tell it.

I had the privilege to attend a spellbinding reading of this work by the author at Golden Braid Bookstore in her hometown of Salt Lake City about a year ago. Everyone there was capativated by her enormous spiritual presence. Her book, a succinct, creatively-written version of her extensive dissertation work, is so visual that the reader feels as though he/she is along for the journey.

Agreed. The naysayer's clearly did not read the book at all! How do I know this? Dr. McWhorter clearly discusses the critical, patriarchal views in Chapter 7 entitled "Fear is the Real Satan". Interesting that it was male energy who submitted unaccountable negative reviews that clearly gave themselves away as not having read her brilliant work at all. I, for one, am anxiously looking forward to the day that Dr. McWhorter writes and publishes her next thought-provoking, insightful book.

Toltecs Assemble! A review of Cry of The Eagle

Review Date: 2001-04-26
Most of us first came into contact with the Toltec Tradition through the works of Carlos Castaneda whose chronicles of his apprenticeship under the Nagal Don Juan Matus have become known worldwide. But while Mr. Castaneda was a trained anthropologist, his works are largely biographical. As fascinating as they are, as tantalizing as they are in their implications for the future of humanity, the books are difficult to use as teaching tools for those readers interested in following the Warrior's Path. Herein lies the great importance of Theun Mares' books for the serious student of the the Toltec teachings. For with the publication of Return of The Warriors, Mr. Mares, a Nagal of the third attention, began the formidable task of bringing forth a series of texts designed for practicle use. In every way, these books not only corroborate the teachings of Don Juan, they elaborate upon them in great detail. I cannot imagine walking the Path With A Heart without them. Cry of The Eagle is the second volume in the series, and, like its predecessor, it is a gift to be savored. It inspired me; it awed me, and, most importantly, it challenged my view of the world. The title of the book is as important as the work itself. Simply stated, The Cry of The Eagle is an occurence signifying the knock of the spirit, not for a single individual, but for all of humanity. For untold generations the teachings were an oral tradition passed along through various Toltec lineages, each separated from the rest to insure their survival until such time as mankind reached the necessary level of development to receive them. This time has come. Thus, as Mr. Mares states, the Doctrine of Separate Development no longer holds. Now the time has come for the teachings to be made available for all those who wish to benefit from them. Needless to say, this is a momentous occasion. The Cry of The Eagle takes us ever deeper in to the Toltec Teachings, particularly those dealing with left side awareness. Topics covered in this book include, The Art of Dreaming, Stopping the Internal Dialogue and the Four Natural Enemies. Mr. Mares elucidates the most recondite material with a clarity and precision that is almost alarming. I cannot recommend Cry of The Eagle strongly enough. This is humanities hour of power and the train is leaving the station. Don't delay. There is much to learn and time is of the essence.

Our Moment of Chance is Fleeting. . .

SO! The Cry of the Eagle has sounded, what does this mean? Quite simply, that humanity has come of age and now must take responsibility for its actions in playing a truly meaningful role in materializing the full awareness of the dreamers of mankind, for this is their intent. How to do so, where to go? By learning to LIVE, rather than exist, by under-stading that there is no-where to go, which means one is now-here. By listening to the heart and using the world as a mirror reflecting our own inner self. The Toltec Teaching Series that nagal Theun Mares is writing serves as a beacon light for those of us who sense that world needs are so dire and that only WE can turn them around. At a certain level, the premise that "if we change and uplift ourselves so to must the world around us" is all we need in order to cause our bucket to overflow, our life to be-come filled with many richnesses and many joys. But here is the practical use of Theun's books, particularly this one. Writing this volume in 3 easy to grasp, yet challenging to implement strategies, the apprentice or reader is guided into taking action that leads to knowledge in the fundamental heart of the Toltec legacy. These 3 parts, or steps, are - (1) Living the Life of the Warrior: Transmutation. (2) Erasing Personal History: Transformation. (3) Dreaming: Transfiguration. This really amounts to embracing death for it is not possible to give birth to a new being, a new life, a new world, without first burying that which is old and out-dated, including the perception we have of ourselves. To create a life that is forever new and nascent, requires a destruction of the old, our old way of viewing the world. Upon reading this book and indeed the reviews written here, I am led to wonder of the examples provided in the world today. This includes my own. There is something stirring and hope-ful about the camaraderie found with those who walk the Path with Heart, and to this extent, where are these people who write these great reviews? Hello! Do you hear me? Particularly this Gagliano chap, whose words are quite poetic and chilling to the bone. I wonder if there is some "Toltec Pub" in which men and women explore the teachings together? Yes, a Hunters Lodge, that is where I shall meet you, ANY of you who are reading this NOW. There we shall drink a toast to LIFE, NOW, LOVE and WARMTH. What is a life without Friendship, without Honour, without Fluidity? A cold and barren life. So COME FRIEND! "Roll the dice of life, if you care to live, friend! If you dare to die!" For the Spirit has knocked on our door, and life will never be the same again. . .

With Warm Regards,

Jared Roy Windhauser

Toltec cosmology primer reviewed

Cry of the Eagle, Volume 2 of the Toltec teaching series by Theun Mares, gave me a good bird's eye view of the cosmology behind the practical teachings of the Toltec tradition. Theun unleashed a torrent of information whereby I was able to put meaning and purpose with the techniques learned in the first volume, Return of the Warriors. This book covers a broad range of the Toltec teachings and yet, as the author tells us, this book is but only a fraction of the teachings that he is systematically bringing forward to humanity. I especially benefited from the chapters covering belief in oneself, stopping internal dialogue, and the entire section on the art of dreaming.

Cry of the Eagle is a well-written and scholarly manual for living the Toltec teachings, and it is very easy to read. Theun put enough examples in this book, just as he did in the first, for me to get a FEEL for the teachings and the techniques. It was because of the extensive examples that I was able to correlate much of the material to what I was experiencing in my day to day living and make the needed adjustments to break free from some long-standing habit patterns.

I was very much convinced while reading and working with Cry of the Eagle that this was definitely not like anything that I had read to date. It was empowering and uplifting, and it gave me the much-needed impetus to change my conditions for the better. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to break free from the inertia of old habits: mental, emotional, or physical. I especially recommend it for those who already have a penchant for things "Toltec".

Sincerely, Leonardo

About a year and a half ago I purchased a copy of Theun Mares' book entitled Cry of the Eagle. At the time I was in a very stressful job position that demanded a great deal of time and energy. When I started reading and applying the principles from Cry of the Eagle, I found that my approach to the job began to change and I was able to more easily handle the daily pressures which had started to impact my health. Since then, I've had a chance to read several of Theun's books (Return of the Warriors and The Mists of Dragon Lore), and have found, for the first time, a way of living which has truly changed my approach to life.

Cry of the Eagle builds on one of the central themes of the Toltec Path starting with the Four Attributes of Warriorship and ending with the Technique of Dreaming. For me, the chapters on Intelligent Cooperation, and the thoughts expressed in the Dreamer and the Dreamed form a basis which is reflected time and again throughout the Toltec teachings.

Because my current job requires a great deal of air travel, I usually carry a book with me at all times and, more often than not, the book is Cry of the Eagle. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to explore the world of the Toltec Warrior as can only be expressed by a Nagal such as Theun Mares.

Very well written and thought provoking book with plenty of room for contemplative notes ans exercises to help one evaluate and study David. My only problem, and hence the 3 not 5 stars, is she relates and compares, way too often, David to Jesus. It is a book about David according to its title and yet she falls in the same trap as most Christian authors. Everything in the bible is NOT about Jesus nor is there any need to try and force every verse, person, etc. to fit to some explanation or elaboration of him. It is about GOD and his message via his prophets. I would love to see some of the great Christian authors, Mrs. Moore included, give the Bible its just treatment especially when dealing with the Hebrew Scriptures portion (aka OT).

This is such a personal devotional that will take you through the life of David even after all the other studies you may be doing on the Life of David. I cried as I came to the last 2 days - as I did not want it to end. This is a 'must have' - but also a perfect gift for the "woman of God" on your list this Christmas. I encourage all the women I teach in Bible study to get this devotional and go through it one-day-at-a-time for the full 90 days! So good! God will bless you!

I just bought this devotional about a month ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. The book itself is beautifully made and I think anyone would feel special receiving this as a gift.

It is a rather large book (in terms of dimensions), however the daily readings are not overwhelming at all. You read one passage of scripture and are asked two simple thought provoking questions. Beth then gives a one-to-two page devotional related to the passage and questions. It probably does not take more than 15 minutes to finish a daily devotional. But I find myself spending a bit longer just meditating on the message. I usually say to myself, "Wow, I've never seen that before," or "Thank you Lord for giving me new insight."

If you are new to Bible reading and are not familiar with the story of King David, I would recommend reading 1 and 2 Samuel before beginning this devotional because Beth just dives right in.

I highly recommed this devotional.

I just finished the 90 day journey on a walk with Beth discovering things through the amazing life of David. This book took me 10 to 15 minutes a night and was a great way each evening to close out my day. You learn so much from this book and there is not the level of homework as with the Daniel study, for example, so you can do this book while doing another study and it will not stress you out!

What I love is learning all about the intricacies of David's life -- what mistakes he made, the feelings he had, what he went through as a father, husband, and leader. David was one of God's chosen -- a man truly after God's own heart -- yet he too made very human mistakes. This alone can give you great hope as a sinner and Christian.

If I could rate this book a 6, I would! I've learned so much through my nightly readings about David. This book is also attractively done with large scroll-like pages and a great layout that also just welcomes you into it. It's a book you can place out on the bookshelf after you're through and it will look very nice. You'll want to pull it out later and go through it again also. There are places to put your own thoughts so it can become a journal of sorts for this 3-month period in your life.... You won't regret these 90 days!

Reading Dead Bunnies gave me permission to embrace my own story. By being transparent and vulnerable, the author encouraged me to let down my guard and share my story with others. Reading this book challenges readers to acknowledge the author, uniqueness, and beauty of their own purposeful and intricate story.

Dead Bunnies is the book you stay up all night reading because you can't stop laughing. It is also the book that makes you think it's time to start paying closer to attention to the events of your life. If you've ever heard Bryan Currie speak in person, I know you've wanted to sit down with him for a conversation to hear more of his great stories. Dead Bunnies is that conversation.

A great conversation!

Bryan Currie uses a voice in his book that allows the reader to feel as if you are having a great one on one coversation. He conveys his thoughts, feelings, and personal stories just as he would if you were sitting in a coffee shop or talking over dinner. I admire an author who lets his personality shine through his writing and Mr. Currie does just that. The subject matter ebbs and flows from fun stories to deep subject matter and back again, all with skill and grace. Overall, I have enjoyed this book and continue to pick it up and read a chapter now and again, just to have a conversation.

Incredible book!

Bryan's perception to everyday life examples of God showing up in the most unexpected places is very insightful and refreshing. This is one you will not want to miss reading. The giftedness of this extraordinary writer compels you into every twist and turn of each story and makes you think you are actually watching the events evolve right in front of your very eyes. Fabulous book!

Except ye repent,. . .

Sadly, we live in an age where everyone does what is right in his own eyes; An age where there is no distinguishable difference between the Church and the unbelieving world. Too many "Christians" today want to be saved "in their sins" not "from their sins". But Jesus said, "... except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." There must be a change of heart. There must be a turning away from all sin. This book addresses an issue that is not heard from the pulpits of today's churches nearly as often as it should be. This book speaks not only of what true repentance is but also the importance of genuine sorrow over sin. Every believer in Christ should read this book.

Every professing Christian should read. I thouroughly enjoyed it. Other than the replacement theology present I found the work sound in its definition and application of repentance in conversion and sanctification. A must in every Christians library.

The Lord has really been laying on my heart how we have lost the message of repentance - and without is, one cannot truly understand grace. This book gets back to this basic doctrine that should not be ignored!

Few books have had the impact on me that this one has. In fact, I would say this is the most influential book (non-divinely inspired book that is) I have ever read. I have read and re-read passages until they soaked deep into my soul. Much more than a how-to, it's a book of great depth and conviction. Would that we all would constantly have a godly sorrow that leads to repentance and great joy.

A must read for the committed Christian

Excellant! If you are serious about your walk with Christ you must read this book. Watson nails the heart of repentance. He takes you down the road that calls you to place your hope and trust in Christ. Watson calls us to remember that Christ will never be sweet ubtil our sin is bitter.

A short masterpiece

This books was created from Master Samael's lectures on the subject of awareness and dream yoga. The book, though short is packed with so much information. Information that you can start 'practicing' as soon as you finish the first chapter. I have been practicing the key SOL for some time now so after reading the first few chapters I put the information to good work and have been able to achieve astral experiences in the short time I have owned the book. The book is good for beginners but they might have to explore some of Samael's other writings and gnostic information in general to get the full 'knowledge' from the writing. Overall straight forward and a great read, also highly recommend the 'Yellow Book' by Weor to compliment the practice of Kundalini Yoga.

Lucid dreaming

This is a good introduction to lucid dreaming/astral projection. The approach given is very similar to Tibetan dream yoga, which is somewhat different from western lucid dreaming. The latter puts a scientific spin on dream travel and consists of induction techniques and self-suggestion exercises. This book, however, presents lucid dreaming in a more spiritual way: as a means of exploring superior worlds in higher dimensions.

Simple, Practical, and Possible

Dream Yoga is short, simple, and practical. It provides methods that any sincere student and seeker can utilize in order to experience vividly, for themselves, the great reality of the Astral Plane.

I've been familiar with the Astral for a long time. However, I'm really just an exception, because most of humanity still doesn't understand that we exist in many dimensions. We only percieve this three dimensional world with the five senses, even though there is much more. If you look at the snail, you understand that it percieves one-dimensionally through sensations. The dog percieves two-dimensionally. And yet, both these animals exist within the three-dimensional plane. We know this because we have the faculties to proove it. However, these animals don't. This is the same case with higher dimensions, like the Astral Plane. There exist beings who understand that we are like the snail and the dog, without the faculties to percieve higher dimensions.

When human beings dream at night, what really happens is that we leave our physical bodies. Most people aren't aware of this because it takes a certain discipline in order to awaken the Conciousness, in order to live and breathe in those dimensions just as we do here. A person who is awakened is always aware, 24/7. In the day they are like any normal person. They have a job, kids, and a marriage. What makes them exceptional is while the rest of humanity is unconcious of where it goes at night, the awakened individual knows. He has Concious Will. He can study all the Great Mysteries of the Cosmos, speak to Self-Realized Beings, visit wonderful places, etc. (because there are less laws, including the absence of gravity, you can fly to places).

All of this is very possible. Any individual can experience the Astral. It simply takes interest, effort, and discipline. The book Dream Yoga offers such a discipline, including practices that will help one get started. It's also an excellent reference for advanced students.

Gnostic teacher discusses dream techniques

I was not familiar with Samael Aun Weor before reading this book. He is described on the cover as a "Gnostic Master" and the founder of the International Gnostic Movement. He is the author of a very large number of books on esoteric subjects. Dream Yoga seems to be mainly aimed at people who are familiar with his teachings and terminology. For someone new to his rather idiosyncratic point of view, such as myself, the book is quite difficult and sometimes confusing. The book is quite short, 108 pages, and 30 of these pages are a dictionary of dream symbols.

Weor is definitely one of those occult teachers with his own system. He draws on many different traditions --mainly Eastern religions such as Tibetan and Tantric, but also Kabbala, Christian and Mayan. I found this radical eclecticism a little disconcerting, especially considering the dogmatic tone of the book. There is no attempt to explain how these traditions are connected and many of the terms, such as obscure (to most readers) god and goddess names, are never defined. He never, for example, explains how these many traditions are united under the banner of Gnosticism, which was originally a Christian sect (albeit one deemed heretical). I am not saying that all of these ideas cannot be synthesized, only that the reader deserves a little more explanation than is provided here. When I say Weor is dogmatic, I mean that he has a rigid idea of what is right and wrong. Although he claims that "Gnosticism is not against any religion, school, order or sect," he frequently refers to ideas that contradict his own as "pseudo-esotericism" and "pseudo-occultism." In one place he refers to those who differ on some rather obscure point as "imbecile ignoramuses." He also makes a statement that will surely offend gay people, who he sees as symptomatic of "this perverse, corrupted and doomed Aryan civilization." I am quoting some of this to give potential readers an idea of what they are in for if they choose to read this book.

Despite all of these criticisms, I don't doubt that Weor possesses some genuine knowledge and that many of the techniques given in this book can be quite useful. He points out, for example, that to master being awake in dreams, you must work on being conscious while awake. This idea is not unique to this author, but it is a valuable piece of advice. I would recommend this book mainly to readers who are already familiar with Weor's system or who are interested in following the Gnostic path (which is rather ascetic and mystical, at least as Weor interprets it). It also makes a good addition to a collection of books on dreaming. If you are a beginner to dream studies, however, you would probably do better with a more basic and less jargon-filled book.

Knight's new book is a fascinating new age book with emphasis on hands-on methods such as meditations, oracles, and rituals. She has pulled back the veil of mystery surrounding Wicca and new age practices, explaining in clear language how to do magic, how to improve our lives and how to visualize what we really want in life. After reading this book, my life really did improve and I found it much easier to attain my practical and magickal goals. Knight showed me how to bring the meaning and purpose in my life into perspective. I'm more aware of what I need and want now and I know how to get it. Magickal thank yous to Sirona Knight and this book! May the Fae ever bless her and keep her penning new books!

Knight has written a very good book on Wicca and the New Age. I bought her book Empowering Your Life with Dreams and really enjoyed it, so I bought this one a couple of weeks later. I wasn't disappointed. I was delighted! Sirona Knight obviously has a visionary and comprehensive insight into the practices of Wicca together with the practices of the New Age. I have read alot of wicca books that are just basic wicca 101 books and are really boring. This book isn't a Wicca 101 book. It's really cool how each chapter builds on the previous chapter, and there are plenty of meditations, rituals, oracles, and affirmations to do each day. I have really empowered and enriched my life using the techniques in this magickal book. I recommend it to everyone that is into wicca and the New Age. It gave me plenty of things to do to life a better life and now I feel closer and more connected to the Goddess and God, and to myself.

Knight gives you the tools to get your mojo working and the magic happening. Cool book that uses Wicca and New Age together. This is the first book I've read that has blended the two together--very progressive, magickal, and lots of common sense savvy! The meditations and rituals are especially strong and I've had great success and I feel a lot more empowered than I did before I started reading this book.

There are alot of New Age techniques and also alot of Wiccan methods for personal empowerment in the book--methods that actually worked for me within a few weeks. I was amazed by the power of this book and I recommend it to both teenagers and adults. My teenage son is reading through the book now and he's trying the techniques too.

Jaggi Vasudev is still alive and teaching today, which makes this book even more profound. I know from personal experience what he teaches is true, and certainly he goes beyond my own experiences into realms I seek to explore myself. His words of wisdom and insights into the process of self-realization can help lead anyone to discover the truth of who they are.

I am not sure why I picked up this book, but something intrigued me. I didn't know who the author was. As I read it, I realized that there was something inside of me that has gone unnoticed. He explained that yoga was a method that could awaken the deepest joy within me. I decided to take his program when he came to Atlanta. I couldn't believe that a set of practices could have such an impact on my life. My life has changed in how I interact with the world. Such a deep calm and peacefulness has awakened within me and it all started with this book.
