I have read many books by and about mediums - this is definitely in my Top 3! Cheryl is an excellent writer, and I've had the privilege of having some readings from her, so I know she's an amazing medium, too. Her love for her brother Johnny, and his for her, is a story that will touch many of your emotional "hot buttons" - I found myself laughing many times, crying at others, and doing a lot of contemplation about my relationship with my own family...I have cerebral palsy, and this helped me understand from a sibling's perspective of what it's like to grow up with a family member who experiences a disability - very enlightening.

I highly recommend Johnny Angel Is My Brother. It's a great read!

This is a big book by any standards, almost 500 pages and is the result of years of research and study by the author into the culture, and history of Rome and the Germanic tribes. The book believe or not is a follow up to The Light Bearer, a book that Donna Gillespie wrote 12 years ago. The book continues the life of Auriane, a warrior maiden of the Chattian tribe, designated to be their new prophetess but as fate would have it she was captured by the Roman army and taken in chains to the city of Rome.

Once there her life changed completely and she was trained to be a female gladiator in the great arena of Rome. Again fate takes a hand in the life of the woman who had vowed to defend her tribe against all things Roman. She falls in love with a Roman aristocrat Marcus Arrius Julianus and becomes his wife.

Marcus and Auriane have lived a peaceful life for a number of years, but unbeknown to her husband Auriane is a traitor to Rome, plundering her husband's coffers for nearly ten years, Auriane has provided her family with enough wealth to arm themselves. Now her deceit has been discovered and if it reaches the Roman authorities, not only her life, but the life of her family will be forfeit.

Good, but not as great as the first one

This novel is the sequel to the magnificent work "The Light Bearer", which was an epic saga centering around Auriane, who is the daughter of a chieftain of a Germanic tribe at a time that ancient Rome is pushing further and further into their territory. It was fast paced, intriguing, well-written - just fantastic all around. I would even put it on a par with "The Mists of Avalon" and recommend it to anyone, whether or not they like historical fiction. It's been about 7 years since I read the book and I looked forward to reading this sequel.

Despite its very favorable reviews here, I personally had mixed feelings towards the sequel. On the plus side: Gillespie still writes beautifully and I like her characters. She brings the setting to life and gives you a fascinating take on history and the events that are shaped by one powerful woman. The whole setting is brilliant - the Germanic tribes are being even more overwhelmed and conquered by the Romans; their ancient traditions are falling out of history. It's always interesting to read about history from the perspective of those who lost a war. Gillespie also writes well of the mother-daughter relationship between Auriane and her first daughter Avenahar. Also, I liked getting to see what befell some of the characters from the first book such as the prophetess Ramis and Auriane's first love (and one of my favorite characters), the Roman man Decius. But on the negative side: The plot moved slowly. Some scenes felt like they were 5 times longer than they needed to be and there were plenty of scenes that really didn't need to be in there at all. I was shocked at that, since the first novel moved at breakneck speed and I found nothing in it superfluous. I also felt that the main male character, Marcus, is almost a bit too much like a hero of a romance novel - he's unrealistically without flaw. (I prefer the more spicy and flawed Decius). I'm glad I read the book though, just to see what happened to all the characters I loved in the first novel and I still found it enjoyable despite its faults. It's always hard for sequels of extraordinary works to follow up to the earlier book's greatness.

Almost super

I read this book right after reading Light Bearer and found it almost as good. In the middle I was losing interest and then Ms. Gillespie brought in the nine maidens with their string skirts and I was hooked again. Scholars say that the skirts were worn high on the waist and did not fall low enough to cover the private parts (not sure of the reason why) but this is a minor inaccuracy. I await book three when I am sure the family will be temporarily reunited after many adventures, of course. I am curious to see how Ms. Gillespie resolves their final living arrangements.

In some ways it's better than the first one...

This book is beautifully composed and artfully put together. I found not a wasted sentence. There is polished beauty to the scenes that shows a new mastery on the part of this author. The forward movement of the story is brisk and relentless and calamity lurks at the end of every chapter - I never felt a slowing of tension throughout the whole book. This family struggles to stay together as they are ringed by wolves. This story is put together like a puzzle box - every piece matters. I had to read it twice to appreciate how this was done. The reviewer who called this book a study in economy really got it right. The rich background of each scene somehow never intrudes on the action. The characterizations, too - possibly even lusher and fuller than in Light Bearer - are seamlessly developed along with the action. The dialogues are inspiring - so many characters have quotable lines that I almost lost track. Here is that sort of novel it's so difficult to find these days - a solid work of adventure that is also deeply meaningful. I agree with others who pointed out that the portrayal of the powerful position of women in early Germanic society is utterly convincing and makes this book a rare gem. I ardently wanted to believe that there was once a great teacher called Ramis dispersing wisdom with roots reaching back into archaic times. And there is such honesty and intimacy in the portrayal of Roman life. This volume beautifully complements Light Bearer - it fills in precisely those details of Marcus' and Auriane's lives that I was so avid to know and manages this with such deft storytelling that those details always felt necessary to understanding the continuing crises of the present. This book has it all - horror, mystery, psychological tension, betrayal, horrific battles, sweet victories, tragic love. If this book doesn't become a classic there is no justice.

everyone has already said it all.

I am now self-employed because I have learned how to used these principles, and I am applying them to my life. Thank you Master Prophet E. Bernard Jordan for writing such a stellar work of art!!!!!!

The Laws Of Thinking / The Book

The laws of thinking as I finished this book the fourth time I then begin to dissect it one chapter at a time four additional times. I then acquired the tongues of fire and the contents of the book began to resonate a sound of new beginnings. Then after all of this I found myself in a place where if anything at all started to give me discomfort the chapters in this book bring to mind the instant solution. As a case in point lets take money for instance everybody likes to talk about money and in most case's it's the lack of money. The reason why that is- is because we hold money in the wrong perspective. If you lack money you lack the power to think a premise at ZOE is that if you can think it up you can think it down. As we read in the laws of thinking we began to find out that we put money in the place of God. Often times we allow money to dictate our decisions rather than taking God at his word. The bible says my God shall supply all of my needs according to his riches in glory Philippians 4:19. We also began to realize that the bills that we have in our pockets is not money-, money real money is the currency of the mind. For years we were driven into a position that made us believe that if we had money we couldn't be close to God, and for a long time I bought into that as if being broke made me more holy. 1st John 3:10 tells us that God wants us to be prosperous - beloved I desire that you prosper and be in health even as your soul has prospered. When we read our bibles we find out that it was Jesus himself who put money on the same level as God Mathew 6:24 you can not serve two master. Until I read the laws of thinking I could have never looked at money like this and now I will never look at money the same way again. Bishop Jordan writes on page 202 of the book you must conquer your love of money to conquer the evil in your life. I like how Mother Jordan says it if your saying money is evil, money is not gonna come to you because your saying it's evil. For we all know that it is the love of money that makes it evil, even as we think a little deeper, even though the bile says that the love of money is the root of all evil. Father God in me can I express this,?-( Speak Son) it's not the love money, it's the lust of the individual. It's not the money it's what we do with the money. I f you are in a place where you have run out of reasoning away the fact that what they teach you at your local church has a question mark the laws of thinking will dispel many many of the myths. The laws of thinking will give you the clarity of purpose and keenness of direction, just like the resolution on your plasma screen the higher the pixels the greater the quality of the picture. For instance the bible says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made that's in the book of Psalms 139:14 well in the book of the laws we find out just how we are made when we begin to learn about the seven chakras, and the seven other bodies that where born with us we realize just how fearfully and wonderfully we are made. And on the sixth day God said lets us make man then on the seventh day he rested from all that he had made and we begin to know that the number seven is the number of completion, or perfection peering in the book of Genesis. Well as we dig deeper we see that this book is the perfect explanation to and for all the misconceptions of the past if it does not stir your spirit it will anger your intellect. I and my father are one this in the past was reason enough to be crucified John 10:30-33 for your works we stone you not, but because you being a man make your self equal with God. The law of oneness will put to rest all these myths because the book says that without oneness there can be no atonement when you look at this you see at-one-ness. I firmly believe that the laws of thinking affectionately referred to as the book is an explanation, clarification, exhortation, and revelation that will change a region a nation, a world. This book uncovers the lies that enslaved a people, that stole a civilization, that raped many generations, and killed a culture as there are many remnants ah, but it's just not the same. This book ,the book does what the children of Israel where afraid of when they herd the thundering of God at Mt. Sinai Exodus 20:18-19 it shows us God in the raw in other words it uncovers the nakedness of God. This, the book is not an aid this, the book is not a supplement it is what Eve was to Adam it is a rib a companion, a help meet. I know there are many Theologians who will take that statement and run with it , yeah and look what happened in the garden well just as it was then as it is now God is in control. This laws of thinking, the book will prosper you it is a law; This the book will let you be you and let me be me it is a law, this book the book will lift your spirit it is a law. The laws of thinking, the book will give you the desires of your heart attraction it is a law. This laws of thinking, the book will show you how to bring things from the spiritual world into the natural world it is a law; write the vision and make it plain upon tables that he may run that reads it Habakkuk 2:2. Often times God will ask us to do something that in the natural just does not make sense sometimes in this life we are going to have to take some risk the book The Laws Of Thinking will make sense of the risk you take in the name of the spirit. This Laws Of thinking the book will produce in you right divine habits, oh yeah it is a law. When we work from the sweat of our brows we remain under the curse ah, but the book teaches us to work from our passion, it is written that when you work from your passion you will never work a day in your life. Often times we say things with our mouth do we not remember that the power of life and death are in the power of the tongue Proverbs 18:21. If you say it you better pay it ah the book tells the truth about the vow it is a law. The Laws Of Thinking book is so powerful it will either draw you our it will drive. When you take heed to the truths that are contain their in it will draw you into a level of consciousness that will cause you to walk through life seemingly un-scathed. There are many believers who still think that the kingdom of God is treating everybody right, going to church and then you can enter into the kingdom. Ah, but the book The Laws Of Thinking teaches us that you have got to get into the right system oh yes it is --- a law. The truths laws ,and principles that the Master Prophet teaches are going to take back an identity of a people I believe that right divine order will rivet through every person who sincerely embraces this book. I believe that imprisonment will be an experience that if it even continues to exist, will cause rehabilitation to become a certainty. The only way to really rehabilitate a person is to change his/her mind, and a change of mind is what repentance. As we begin to let go of the worn out traditions of the past then we can walk in the consciousness of the eternal now. I am reminded of a passage of scripture that says 2nd Chronicles 7:14 if my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. This book The Laws Of Thinking if you try to reject it, if you try to dispute it, if you disrespect it - it will drive you out of your mind.

I was SO excited to order this book, based on the outstanding reviews here on Amazon. I love books about how to make the most of family life, fun things to do with your kids, how to deepen your ties with your kids, etc. etc. -- you get the drift. SO, naturally this title appealed to me.

Imagine my disappointment when, for the first time in.....well, a long time....I could NOT finish the book. Couldn't make myself. Atrocious writing. Very "New Agey" type philosophy presented that has that weird tone (to me, at least); they used ALL CAPS a lot for things like 'HONORING THE CHILD WITHIN' (Okay I made that up, b/c I gave away the book very quickly and I can't remember specifics...but it was definitely THAT kind of new age psycho-babble).

I'm sure this review will get just shredded by people, LOL. However, I thought I'd send out a warning to all of you parents who are NOT into that semi-snotty, put the child on a pedestal and worship them, new-agey kind of parenting advice.

For those with more traditional tastes, do read "What is a Family?" by Edith Schaeffer.

This is probably the best parenting book I've ever read, and I've read a lot of them. They bring out in the open a lot of ideas that I've felt about parenting and what I aspire to as a parent. Raising my child in a way that will honor who she is and nurture her to the best of my ability has always been my goal. The Sweet's give you steps and tips to achieve this goal especially when you're feeling overwhelmed with everything "out there" that can get in the way of your parenting plan.

I just hope they can put together an audio book so I can get my husband, a non-reader, to "read" it.

I've only read the book once so far, but plan to read it again, and again when I need some help.

In my forties and pregnant for the first time. Therefore, have been very actively studying parenting philosophies over the past 8 months, both in theory and in practice. I've noticed that the people who's parenting I most admire and who seem the most successful to me, are the ones who are following the ideas from two books:

1. "Living Joyfully with Children" by the Sweets
2. "Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves" by Naomi Aldort.

I have been devouring these books! If you believe that parenting is (or will be) a spiritual journey with profound learning about life and about yourself, these are the best two books I have found. They are filled with both theory and practical application. Furthermore, if you are having a daughter, I highly recommend Christiane Northrup's book "Mother-Daughter Wisdom".

For nuts and bolts information and child development guidance, I recommend any of the Sears books, but you probably already know that.

Excellent reading! Thoroughly recommended!

ýOur challenge as parents is to cherish the childrenýs zest for life and incorporate it into a joyous atmosphere in the home.ý So say authors Win & Bill Sweet in their amazing new parenting guidebook, Living Joyfully with Children. Here are a series of essays that move us away from traditional, culture-driven attitudes and worries about children, and into the freedom to discover true Self.

Living Joyfully with Children speaks to all the facets of life and growing up in that life. We learn that itýs ok for children to play, in fact, thatýs their job. And itýs ok to cry (how many of us have admonished our children, ýDonýt cryý?). How should we use the word, no? Why is it important to care for mom? What is the difference between educating and programming your child?

Win & Bill Sweet ask and answer the questions all good parents pose. Living Joyfully with Children is a how-to book filled with invaluable, straight-forward and deep wisdom. Another wonderful example is found in Chapter 23---Expectations. What should we expect from our child? ýYou can enjoy the magic of your children as you set yourself and your children free of the expectations of what they should be doing according to the culture. This freedom releases them to be who they are.ý

Living Joyfully with Children is all about that freedom. Principle-centered parenting brings freedom and confidence to families and Win & Bill Sweet offer an unpretentious means to family living in this easy-to-use guidebook. This reviewer wishes it had been around when my children were growing up!

I demarcate (thank goodness that's not a story (-:)) reading Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now" The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment as a significant event in my awareness of consciousness. Reading Moss's "Mandala of Being "The Mandala of Being: Discovering the Power of Awareness I sense as similarly significant. I find myself struggling not to get into a fruitless intellectual (read ego) exercise of trying to contrast and compare Tolle and Moss and instead see it as one more refrain of "one teaching; many teachers," and smile and enter the Now. Tolle speaks of an infinite number of portals to the Now available in each moment if we will but allow them. Moss's "The Mandala of Being" is such a portal for me and I invite you to taste and see for yourself.

This book not only talks about living in Awareness, but also gives an actual tool that we can use in our most ordinary days. A tool that makes sense. Dr. Moss writes in plain English about practice, action and becoming more enlightened.
This book speaks to the Universal Consciousness that lives in each of us.
It allows us to see ourselves as who we think we are, and to shed those stories to become more present in who we truly are.
A very wonderful, personal, and extraordinary book. I wish everyone on the planet would read it! I went back and bought over 10 more copies to give as gifts. I feel it is that important of a book.

Dr. Moss brings awareness to all of us. In these chaotic times, I respect him greatly for speaking to the "fear factor" that has been created in our culture. He gives structure to consciously choose to become more "awake" in our own life. If we want a better world, we can not live in fear. I challenge readers to become informed.

Spend just a single day being completely aware of where your thoughts lead you. How often does your mind wander? How much time do you find yourself recalling or analyzing things that happened in your past? How much time do you spend worrying about what might happen in the future? What stories do you make up about yourself in your wanderings? Are you self-sacrificing, underappreciated, and undervalued? Are you hardworking and eagerly climbing the ladder of success? Are you bitter that everyone else seems to catch a break but you get nothing?

Anyone who has ever tried this exercise knows that the majority of our time is spent anywhere but at the present moment. We fixate on the past, we fantasize about the future, we create self serving stories in our minds, and we judge others. Very little of our time is actually fully focused on what we are doing and feeling in this exact moment. So in essense, we rarely focus on the here and now, on the moment.

The Mandala of Being guides the reader to a better understanding of this very human process explaining that these seemingly harmless distractions actually color the way we see ourselves. Basically, all of these stories do two things. They either feed our ego so that we feel that we are somebody special (hiding the underlying feeling that we are not enough as we are) or we opening berate ourselves. The end result in both cases is the same, it reinforces the notion that somehow we have to be, act, or have something specific in order to be valuable human beings.

The simple solution is to have our thoughts stay in the here and now, to see events for what they really are, and to get in touch with our true selves. This may be easy to say but it is extremely hard to do. The Mandala of Being teaches us how to make a start in this attempt and how to counteract some of the major obstacles on this path.

This book has an amazing feature, which is that it conveys the spirit and presence of Nisargadatta in such a powerful way not even I AM THAT does. The pointers are absolutely clear and straighforward, and they deal with a wide range of cases. No doubt can remain as to the nature of our true self after the reading of this teaching. In a misterious way, Ramesh was able to be the interpreter of the teaching without interfeering with it in this occasion. This teaching (and the way it is presented in this book) is certainly far superior to anything the same Ramesh could have written of its own.

This extraordinary book written by Ramesh S. Balsekar focuses the seekers mind even more pointendly, no pun is intended, than the spiritual classic, I Am That. Aptly titled, Pointers reduces the whole of the seekers spiritual quest into a finite, simple and yet expansive conclusion of unification. If the reader is ready and intuitive, by this I mean to imply his/her spirit is ripened to be plucked from its vine, then no other words beyond Ramesh's Pointers will ever be needed. I highly recommend that all seekers read I Am That as a prelude to Pointers if they wish for the fullest experience possible, they will be rewarded for their patience.

After reading POINTERS From NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ and JEAN DUNN three books on NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ Talks ( PRIOR TO CONSCIOUSNESS , SEEDS OF CONSCIOUSNESS , CONSCIOUSNESS AND THE ABSOLUTE ) It answered why the body was born or should it be said " What were you before you were born " .

Three good POINTS in the book - Consciousness is the illusion . Second - You were before Consciousness and third- the problem with concepts. Understanding these three POINTS made Knowledge and Ignorance seem the same. Perhaps the pupose of life is to understand that what is creating the illusion is consciousness itself.

In one of the NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ books there was a simple sentence that was so powerful and went something like this " THE SEARCH FOR REALITY IS THE MOST DANGEROUS OF ALL UNDERTAKINGS FOR IT DESTROYS THE WORLD IN WHICH YOU LIVE"

Thank you.

In Pointers From Nisargadatta Maharaj, devotee Ramesh Balsekar provides further insight into the teachings of what many consider a master of Advaita Vedanta. The teachings are both simple and profound -- and often full of paradox. To "understand" them requires the relinquishment of thought. To "explain" the teachings reduces them to concepts which are inherently false. That is probably why the book it aptly titled "Pointers..." The real truth, according to what Balsekar shares of Nisargadatta's teachings, is "apperceived" directly. And it's based on the deep understanding that there is no individual entity at work...

"The main point in Maharaj's teaching is that in this living-dream of life we are not the dreamed characters, which we think we are, but that we are the dreamer, and it is our mistaken identification with the dreamed character, as a separate independent entity as the 'doer', that causes the illusion of 'bondage'". Pages 202-203

If you have read the classic "I Am That", this is an excellent aid in providing further clarification into our true nature. Enjoy it for all the gifts it brings you.

Look no further!

If you are ready this book is all you'll ever need, if not it will certainly plant the seeds of awakening. Not only does Ramesh Balsekar translate the words of Maharaj, but goes on to expand and clarify the wisdom of his Guru as only an enlightened disciple can. This is the perfect follow up for Maharaj's classic, I Am That. But Please don't let your mind be put off by Nisargadatta's gritty approach. Because of the Guru's declining health, this book's tone does sound a bit harsh by ignoring common civilities and going straight to the core of truth. Yet that is exactly what we need to realize.

What are you( the reviewer who only gave it 1 star) talking about mood psychology? If you are after a book to tell you about EQ or how you should control your emotions or how to get along well socially, then this book is not the one! This book is not even about psychology studies why and how people are screwed up! All that is really time wasting and achieves nothing.

This book by Neville Goddard tells you how you can shape your experience the way you want it. In fact, he is revealing to us what we already do morning noon and night! But most people are not aware of their thoughts that they are hypnotised by the external world and they feel helpless and scared.

What I like about Neville's method is that he teaches a method that bypasses all psychoanyalysis or any kind of analysis, for analysis are only to find reasons "Why" you have not succeeded! Those are actually excuses and traps that if you believe them, will rob you of your goal! Neville even goes one step further by teaching you to bypass the analysis of "How". My point is, most people do not achieve their goals because they are robbed by their "Why" and "How".

This book reveals how we create our own experience, and of course it will reveal to you some spiritual secrets and new understanding, for our whole life IS spiritual!

Neville's system is simple, easy to apply, and --- most importantly --- effective. Like many esoteric writers of his generation (the so-called "New Thought" movement), he frequently quotes the Bible to make his point. However, his point is usually 180 degrees removed from the traditional interpretation of the cited passage. Like another reviewer, I was initially put off by the constant references to "Holy Scripture". I kept asking myself why Neville felt the need to validate his system by appealing to authority. Once I got beyond my own mental hang-ups, I was able to appreciate fully what Neville was saying... and to apply it.

I'm now a big Neville fan, and have read several of his other books. But "Power of Awareness" is probably the only one you need to read. It lays out the entire system clearly and concisely.

By the way, anyone familiar with Israel Regardie (Golden Dawn) may appreciate knowing that he agreed with and approved of Neville's system ... but felt that most people lacked the simplicity and native imagination to use it as effectively as Neville was able to do. For such people, Regardie maintained that ritual work and a broader occult background was necessary.

As someone suspicious of ritual (talk about giving unnecessary deference to our religious heritage!) and tending to believe that most 'occult powers' are misunderstood manifestations of our own unconscious being, I much prefer Neville's approach.

The Power of Awareness is a hidden jewel. For over 34 years, I've been studying Spiritual Masters, and although there are many with valuable information, Neville, uncovers the mystery in attaining your deepest desires. A step by step process, where by you receive the tools necessary to manifest your intentions. A book to refer to, always, as you must practice this wisdom daily and do your "internal" work. It's not a magic bullet, there are none. Yet the more you re-read, you have the keys to unfold your magnificent life. Buy it, you'll be amazed.

Like everyone else, my world seemed to be crashing down upon me. I was turned onto "The Secret" by a friend and into the Hicks/Abraham books. I was amazed to find that I already practiced/believed some things they teach. My mother read Jane Roberts/Seth, but I couldn't get into those books. When I was at a low point, I went into Amazon.com and somehow, I found this book. Thank you Amazon.com! This book has helped me face my demons, change my thought process and become happy. No, it didn't happen overnight, but it has happened. My daily stress headaches have become less often. I'm actually practicing the exercises and moving along slowly. My first impression in some of the sections was "yeah, right, uh-huh". Then I re-read and I'm actually understanding. He writes so you can understand and practice. Some sections I would actually cry during the exercises, but kept going. I plan to purchase the paperback copy just so I will have a copy with me if I start to crash and he indicates this happens. At least he tells us how we can achieve inner peace/harmony and you have to work for it. Sappy, but, I can't explain how important this book has been for me and my life.

John Holland is a psychic medium who has authored several books, CDs, lectured, taught, and appeared on several TV shows, including The History Channel, A & E, and Unsolved Mysteries. Put simply, John is able to talk to those who have passed on and to receive and relay messages from them. I absolutely love the books and CDs by John. Although John does tend to repeat material, it's all good stuff and each book or CD expands on the material that has been used in another book or CD. His material is thorough, easy to understand, and right on target. It is also chocked full of useful tips. I have found it all tremendously useful in my own spiritual development. And, if you are listening to a CD of John's, especially one with meditations, you will likely find his voice very soft and very conducive to achieving a relaxed state of consciousness. Put simply, I find it really easy to get into a meditative state with John's CDs and to do it quickly.

"Power of the Soul" is a book about discovering the power deep within you, within your soul and learning how to direct that power in a positive manner. Yes, the book is full of information, meditations, tips, and tools. This is powerful self-discovery, spiritual path stuff. It is NOT a magic book. If you are interested in achieving a more balanced and spiritual life, consider this book. A spiritual pat takes work and it is a continual journey forward.

The 8 chapters of this book are:
1) Understanding the Soul--about the soul, as consciousness, the true essence of a person. This chapter speaks of going inward to discover your true self, dredging up what you have hidden inside, and facing it. It discusses a Buddhist technique "The Mindfulness of Breathing" and the importance of breathing correctly to achieve a state of stillness. John then teaches you exercises to achieve proper breathing. He also talks about achieving your soul's purpose, also discovering the gifts of your soul and using them in your everyday life.
2) Acknowledging the Source--the Source is defined as God, the Universe, or a Higher Consciousness, whatever your preference. He explains the concepts of synchronicities (aka. co-incidences), dream messages, gratitude, believing in the impossible, thoughts manifesting into reality, visualizations, and affirmations.
3) The Unfoldment of Your Soul Senses--learning the language of the soul--how to achieve mindful stillness, meditation, the clairs (what they are and why they are important and possible indicators of each). (Clairsentience, Clairaudience, Clairvoyance) and the Chakras (internal energy vortexes).
4) The Power of Love--the importance of love and kindness from a soul perspective.
5) The Healer Within--healing within yourself, forgiveness, including forgiving yourself.
6) Breaking Free: Turning the Past into a Bridge for the Future--negative thoughts, fear, worry--what they do to us--realizing these syndromes and breaking free of them
7) Journey of the Soul--reincarnation, wounds of the soul, wake-up calls, respecting another individual's path
8) Soul Living--stepping into your personal soul power

John has also included examples and discoveries of people he has met, known, and taught as well as his own experiences. He includes training exercises and meditations. If you want to develop your psychic abilities, John's book can help you and he also has some CD products to teach you more on psychic awareness (check my other reviews). But if you just want to learn more about the beauty within you and develop your spirituality, John can help you with that too. There is good info here. How far you take it, how much you put into developing yourself spiritually, and how far you progress, well, that's up to you. What I have found is simply like anything else--the more effort you put into developing yourself, the more you get back. (Step one--my opinion--if you have any negative junk in you, get rid of it. It makes it so much easier to progress.)

The heritage of my exploration of Goldsmith stems from Walter Starcke's book, "It's All God" and/or Tolle's book, "The Power of Now". Seeking contact with God is what all people are attempting to do. This book is one more in a series that places you in the emphasis of God's Realm spread out before us, touching the water and touching the wave, spiritually, metaphysically and within the context of psychic transformation.

I have studied metaphysics for years and I am increasingly careful about becoming too engulfed in theory and not enough practice. This book is not for those new to new thought its way too heavy. Bottom line practicing the Prescene starts with awarness of the Presence right where you are, your conscious mind being the Spirit of God within you. This book just beats around the bush and comes from a standpoint of supplicaton rather than inductive. I would recommend any Ernest Holmes book as an alternative.

It is not a practical book on how to cope with stress.

However, if you want an academic account of human spiritualaity, it is not a bad book, but this is not I am looking for so just 2 stars.

After the September 11th tragedy, I found myself rereading from the wisdom of Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water to try to find some meaning in all the sadness. His synthesis of the "Ageless wisdom" was very comforting in this time of spiritual hunger. I also found many passages which took on a greater meaning than when I first read it many years ago. I have given the book as a gift to many friends. I HIGHY recommend this book to anyone looking for meaning in their lives at this time. This book is a classic!

Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water, by Brian Luke Seaward, is a delightful tool for spiritual awakening.

Our souls often walk bare feet in the bogs of spiritual limbo while we physically wear expensive socks and shoes, and tread fancy floors. We ought to consciously unite with our true nature, the knowledge of which reveals our true calling, as human creations of the creative power behind the universal order. And once our consciousness has penetrated the depth of our reality, we discover that this power manifests itself divinely as love, as a force for good.

Admittedly, the good of one may be the bad of another, as in the case of a predator and its prey in the natural world. Within civilization, however, humans are meant to rise above this dog-eat-dog way through solidarity: love your neighbor as yourself, as Christ dictates. Nothing could be truer to our life mission than aligning our actions with this love in the most elevated, civilized manner. We are then the inspired servants of the creative power, within the compass of our humanity; and peace of mind spontaneously follows. This peace is a refined form of happiness, unlike the crude pleasure of the senses that is but a side dish and cannot satisfy our spiritual appetite. As Brian Luke Seaward himself says: "Trying to fill the spiritual void with material means is like cramming a square peg into a round hole."

This author's hypothesis that stress is best handled when we are spiritually charged - mindful of our true nature and all its precious lessons on the meaning of our lives - is one that commands respect. Furthermore, I contend that his book Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water - which richly expands on this hypothesis and contains a host of excellent insights, advices, and references - should be read by any truth seeker, even a non-Christian, provided he or she keeps an open mind.

He writes: "Our mission is to build bridges, not walls; to offer a hand in guidance, rather than turn our backs with indifference." Without a doubt, Mr. Seaward is a builder of bridges, and that with the knowledge and skill of a civil engineer of the soul.

Psychophysiologist Brian Luke Seaward advocates finding balance in life as a way of overcoming stress. The title of his book, Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water: Reflections on Stress and Human Spirituality, is based on a t'ai chi saying. Seaward says "to stand like a mountain suggests a sense of stability, resistant to the winds of change. To move like water implies the ability to go with the flow, rather than trying to change things we have no control over."
He says that balance can be learned, but doing so requires becoming aware of, and using, our inner resources. Inner resources include humor, creativity, courage, intuition, and faith, among others. Inner resources "can and should be employed every day," not just during times of crisis.
Study after study has documented the harmful effects of stress on the human body. Seward says many people feel stress because they have betrayed their spiritual nature by not living the lives they know they should be living. He compares life to climbing up a mountain, with each of us picking out the one path that is best for us. He says "not only are there numerous paths, but we each move at a pace conducive to our soul's growth process." He adds that "it is impossible to get lost on the spiritual path. We can only be immobilized by our own fears." Confronting stressors overcomes those fears and brings balance to our lives.
Seward drew from many disciplines, including psychology, theology, quantum physics, philosophy, sociology, and mythology, as well as from his experience as a therapist, to write Stand Like Mountain, Flow Like Water. He says that "it is my sole wish that the collective wisdom found among these pages serve as a reminder of what we already know, because the guidance we seek is really within us."
