Real shaman of the West is Poet of Consciousness

Robert Moss's deep experience in the dreamscape is unlike any other shaman-writer in the West. As in all his books, this one shows the mark of a real shaman. In Dreamways of the Iroquois, Moss is more revealing about himself even than in his previous books. In spite of this personal tone, the book is scholarly at times. Interspersed with a retelling of the ancient myths of the Iroquois and Huron people, the children of Aataensic, is Moss'initiation by Island Woman, an Iroquois guide who leads him into the wisdom of her ancient people. One of the book's most potent message is that dreams reveal the real desires of the soul and should be honoured. There's little instruction here on how to work with dreams (one chapter does it) as the book is more of an exposé and a manifesto for the rebuilding of a dreaming society. I recommend all Moss's books to people interested in dreamwork as they are all very deep and rewarding.

A great book that explains the doorway to our dreams and how our dreams may help us face up to lifes challanges. A wonderful read and the author has clearly spent time in other realitys that are just as real as our own. There are many guides and messengers that can help us through our dreams if we are open to them and can remember how to communicate in this fascinating world.

As life if filled with messages, both in dreamtime, and time awake Moss guides us to listen to the spirit of your destiny. Moss was called to his dream writing and workshops and this book continues his teachings in understanding your dreams and and nurturing your intuition. Recently picked up a book by Wanda Easter Burch called She Who Dreams. Come to learn Burch and Moss met in New York many years after Burch dreamt of a young boy drowning, which happened to be Moss. Do not believe in coincidence and if you are looking for a path to understand your truths in life, this book will help your realization.

Dreaming is good for writing the next day. Dreams know a lot; what is dreamed must come to pass. If not, one's nature is not followed which, is the way of sickness instead of joy and good luck. I hope this book will help me along in this writing about the ancient goings-on. If you study Iroquois, you will dream vividly and feel special when looking at stars.

I did enjoy this book though I had to think that however she had met her twin flame as soon as she saw his cramped accommodation in a wee flat in Cusco she definitely decided she wasn't giving up her life in the U.S. any time soon. Dress it up anyway you like, the shaman got the message and can she wonder their exchange of energy went on only through the air not physically. Still fair do's and it was a great read.

You know there are times when you look at all the crap going on in the world and wonder if the cosmic forces have cracks in their craniums. And Ah! the continuing questions: Why am I stuck? Where am I going? What'll I do when I get there? Then to prove they are not asleep at the switch, the cosmic forces bring this book into your life. (Thank you!) I admit to being a little bit skeptical. I mean, excuse me but eagles? Atlantis? Peruvian prophecies? However, I'm glad I pushed through my skepticism. This book is unlike any other I've read. I recommend you take this journey with Jonette. It is unbelievable magic. After years of Light Body work, I could sense a Divine pulse in this book. Nothing like meeting your twin flame on a plane to Peru . . .

Jonette Crowley has produced a beautifully written account of some of her spiritual adventures and the insights gained through those adventures. The reader's awareness expands along with hers as the story unfolds, opening the reader to the magical realization that there is more to this life than what can be experienced with our physical senses alone and the possibilities that exist.

In Eboni Chronicles, Ms. Jones has provided a platform for the unsung heroines of Black America. It is a passionate plea to and from mothers, sisters, aunts, and friends alike on the subject of self-esteem, beauty, God, children, and money. Pain, despair, triumph, hope and love leap from the pages of Eboni Chronicles. Kudos to Ms.Jones for sharing "Black women's ideas, beliefs and lifestyles" in a new way. I encourage you to buy this book. It's real. It's raw. And in some instances, it's remarkably funny. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Eboni Chronicles, and know that you will too.

Eboni Chronicles is a informative book for young women in the 90's. The "true" stories from the women in this book can help one deal with issues of racism and sexism. Issues that are often experienced but rarely ever talked about in such a open and honest manner. It also focuses on the everyday dilemmas like self esteem, work/education, managing emotions, problem solving, resolving conflicts and spirituality. I really enjoyed this book because it helped me see a lot of issues that I was dealing with and positive solutions to these issues. Eboni Chronicles contains a inspiring educational message for black women regardless of their age, background or life experience. It would also be useful to anyone interested in learning more about the ideas, beliefs and lifestyles of the Black woman from the eyes of the Black woman. I recommend this book to all Black women. An inspirational memoir to refresh your spirit
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2003-05-19
Nancy Hoag has produced a collection of memoirs to touch the heart and inspire all. Her experiences when God was at work in her life are marvelous. From her dread of attending Bingo with the elderly of her community to getting caught under the raft during a whitewater expedition, she carries the reader through touching and trying moments that turn out to be blessings of the finest kind.

This book reminds us that no matter what is happening in our life, God is always there. When our patience is being tried to the limit, when we feel lost and alone, when we are depressed or angry, when we are sick or sorrowful; no matter what is going on around us, it will be okay as long as we keep God's love within us.

Hoag's narrative is loose, flowing, and chatty. She invites the reader into her life and shares everything with us: her feelings, thoughts, surroundings, friends, and family. This is a marvelous book that will certainly entertain you while showing you that you are never without God. I strongly recommend it. Let this woman show you the extraordinary touch of God in your everyday life.

Like a good box of chocolates, it's hard to read just one of Nancy Hoag's stories--I find myself wanting just one more, and one more...
Nancy's experiences are fresh and real. Many of us women can identify with the situations she went through. She finds God in each one and shows us how to find him, too.
This is a book that stays on my nightstand and gets read over and over.

A book to read when you need God's help.

Nancy is so open to hearing God. And He speaks to her in many ways. She gets through one problem after another with His help, and she assures us we can too!
This book is a great confidence builder. Helps me to believe and trust that God is with me, as he is with her, in every aspect of my life.
It has also made me aware that God talks to me - I just need to listen.

If God's words are the "meat and potatoes" of life - then Nancy's books (more specifically 'The Fingerprints of God') are the icing on the cake! It would be very easy to devour her books in a single sitting, but I try to slowly savor each heartfelt chapter. Nancy's words touch my soul to the very core, she writes the thoughts I so often have inside. By the end of the book, you will probably feel like you've made a new friend. This book could be used as a daily devotional, but I dare you to sit down and just read one chapter!! When you feel as though God has maybe deserted you, pick up this book and feel renewed that just as He has heard Nancy, He will hear you too.

What timely stories for a world that is asking, "God, are you there?" Nancy Hoag has a way of gently, but emphatically letting us know, by exposing her own life situations, the answer to that question. I can't imagine anyone's heart that wouldn't be touched by the chapter entitled "Grandma's Calendar," even as it brought tears to the eyes of my husband. This bounty is a real quicker-picker-upper, read a chapter on your next coffee break!

I first read this book because it was written by Susan, one of Francis and Edith Schaeffer's daughters. Little did I know that it would become the foundational book to becoming a homeschool parent when I decided to take my youngest child out of the public schools.

One doesn't need to be homeschooling their children to appreciate this book. Susan writes in the same warm and friendly way as her mother. However, if one is homeschooling and using the Charlotte Mason "method", this book is an essential volume to have in your library.

This book put into words what I could not express adequetly. It is a great book if your child is struggling and you want to know what you can do to help him/her. (It's not another worksheet that's going to help!) It was refreshing to read about the priority we parents should place on educating and loving the persons we are priviledged to call sons or daughters. They are indeed more than pocessions! Great book!

It is God-focused (Susan is the daughter of Christian apologtic Francis Shaeffer), natural, and relaxed. It is a must-read for any classroom teacher, homeschool parent, or school administrator.

This is one of the only books I have seen relating solely to the changing of a college campus for Christ. Steve does an excellent job describing his experiences working with and reaching college students, all the while giving practical examples of how any college student can find a strategic group to strive towards reaching for the Lord. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a "how to manual" to reaching the lost on his college campus.

Loan this book out? Never! Each person I loaned this book to did not want to give it back. They willingly paid the full price for a secondhand book just so it was not out of their grasp. So far I have bought five of these books from Amazon.
The inate wisdom in each word that these thirteen grandmothers speak eats at the core of your body as you feel the rightness of how their words sit in your being. We need these wise women who have experienced life in the modern world as well as embraced their amazing spiritually rich cultures and rituals.
After reading this book you will want them to become part of your life, which they will if you make time to see them when they meet twice annually to counsel the world in an open to all forum.

Thirteen grandmothers from around the world joined together in October 2004 in Phoenicia, N.Y. in fulfillment of a long-standing prophecy. Their gathering was in response to a call to action from the Grandmothers of the Sprit World.

As a result of their meeting, they formed the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. The purpose of the Council is to use prayer, healing, ceremonies and plant medicine to stop the destruction of Mother Earth and to restore balance and harmony to the world.

Listen to each Grandmother tell her individual story. Then listen to the collective wisdom of the Grandmothers as they guide our thoughts to prophecy, women's wisdom, sacred relations, Mother Earth, oppression, nature's pharmacy and prayer. Their advice is simple, direct and from the heart and backed by the Spirit ancestors and by the practices of indigenous communities around the world.

The effectiveness of the Grandmothers' cumulative wisdom depends on our absorbing the words of the Grandmothers in order to receive a direct transmission of their thoughts and advice so that we are inspired to take action on behalf of global unity and to assume personal responsibility for living out their wisdom in our daily life, our community and wherever we touch Mother Earth.

We too can walk in their footsteps if we open ourselves to what they have to say to us in this book and if we breath in the essence and spirit of their teachings.

"Without holiness, no man shall see God."

So says the scriptures.

JC Ryle does not stray far from this verse in his examination of biblical holiness. As you read this book, the believer will be challenged to lay aside the nettlesome sins that retard our growth in Christ and seek toward a higher plain, a plain that leads to growth in holiness.

I cannot recommend this book enough. In an age when bookshelves are replete with psycho-babble and nonsense, nothing can satisfy the longing heart that the strong meat of God's word that enjoins the believer to separate from the world.

"For if you love the world or the things of the world, the love of God is not even in you."

The author believes man is Justified byu Faith alone, but believes a Christian Faith is identified by its fruits. This is good, though I do think at times it may seem he believes otherwise. The book sometimes explains something in a thousand words that some may explain in two hundred. It is interesting read considering the book was written some hundred twenty years ago. He complains about easy conversersion without counting the cost of departing from your oldways (sins). That giving life to Christ is not a simple prayer but athoughtful process where you stand before God. He expresses the difference between having more Christians and having less Christians but more devoted. He also disdusses the visible and invisible Church. Those who are members of a local body of Christ but have not truly repented for sins and seek Jesus as God, Savior, and Lord. I found the exposition very interesting at times. A few times I wish he get to the point.

Holiness, by J. C. Ryle is the best book on Christian living I have read to date. In an age of easy-believism that talks of a gospel free from a commitment to God, this book shows what it takes to have a satisfying and saving relationship with Christ in the way that the Scriptures teach. As the work of sancitification is largely ignored on the bookshelves of Christian libraries, this is a much needed addition. With the debate over Lordship salvation still running its course, this book gives a perspective from over 100 years ago that easily fits our situation today. Ryle expounds the Scriptures in such a way that you can not put this book down without heartily agreeing with Hebrews 12:14 "holiness, without which no one will see the Lord."
Ryle has been called a theological vertebrae, and rightly so. This work will leave you examining your walk with Christ with a desire to live for Him like never before.

This work regarding the testimony of God's faithfulness to Hudson Taylor is truly inspiring and amazing. Hudson Taylor was truly a unique individual that sought to pioneer the mission movement in inland. While other missionaries were content to stay in the large metropolitan centers of Asia dotted along the coastline, Taylor ventured forth with a firm faith in God with the purpose of bringing the Gospel to the Chinese countryside. The title of the book is somewhat of a misnomer as the secret is no secret. Taylor bowed his knee in simple obedience to clear biblical commands. The secret of the book is how it documents Taylor's account of how God used him. God said "Go!" and Taylor went, and the influence of that is still being impacted on Asia. The book shows the uniqueness of Taylor as God worked in his spiritual formation, mission philosophy and practice. The Hudson Taylor's spiritual secret is attributed to his radical commitment to live a life in which he completely trusted in God and the living out of the Great Commission.

As a Pastor,I've heard many a good sermon and read many spiritual books. But nothing compares to Alan Clement's ability to spellbind the reader with his magnificently written true life stories. He weaves together into a beautiful tapestry his own brand of Buddhist philosophy, political knowledge, science, wisdom and chutzpah that also seems mysteriously to encapsulate the reader as well. What I found even more intriguing in "Instinct For Freedom" are Alan's honestly-written and courageous choices and sacrifices he has made in life in pursuit of spirituality, freedom, truth and enlightenment. Any and all spiritual seekers from any belief system (or none) should definitely read this book.

In reading most spiritual books, I've noticed that there's a subtle gap between the well-meaning view portrayed, and what I actually feel and experience in reading. You know when you get a used book, and the prior reader has underlined and written, "How true!" Well, it's like other spiritual books have an undertone of "I wish it were true."

In contrast, Clements' words are alive with authentic conviction, and the unmistakeable clarion ring of truth. There's not a trace of pontification. This man has lived an incredible life. He's able to capture the essence of real spirituality and deliver it live and wriggling to the reader. I don't know how he does it. But, as a writer myself, I know that there's only one way he could do it. By really living it. And clearly he does.

He came back down from the mountaintop, so listen up, folks, cause he's really got something worth hearing.

...though I think Mr. Clements should not hold his breath while waiting for humanitarian impulses to saturate the planet. If all is one (whether in the quantum, holographic sense, or in the more traditional sense), then it is only "it" rearranging "itself" when living things appear to consume and/or exploit one another. It may only be an infinitely-manifesting (fractal) consciousness at play. In short, I have become skeptical of any and all conclusions drawn by us. Perhaps we are just a dream, as suggested by Chuang Tzu. I doubt whether we are nearly so important as we would have ourselves believe. How much would the earth miss us?

Timely and important read!

Instinct for Freedom is deeply inspiring and liberating. With his insightful and passionate voice, Clements compellingly urges each and every one of us to uniquely become ALL that we are, and in doing so expand the experience of freedom for ourselves, and for each other.

Simply Awesome

An absolutely amazing read! Open your heart & mind and experience what it could be like to be a divine human being living life wide-open and in complete freedom - beyond all dogma, nationalism, tribalism & religion.

I had the good fortune of seeing Alan in action during a recent retreat - now here's a guy who lives & loves life with reckless abandon. This planet needs guys like him big time if there's going to be any evolution of human consciousness beyond our current self-centred pettiness.
