Satan will attack. It's obvious that spiritual warfare is real. We have been going through so much lately it seems that Satan is trying to attack everything from our kids to our everyday life. But, you know what? He can and will NOT win. He will be defeated, so his reign here on earth is simply - short lived!
This book is so well written (as usual from Ray Pritchard books) I urge you to read this as it will help you understand the world in which we live. It will encourage you! We cannot be afraid of what is around the corner "Live without fear!"

I spent the summer slowly digesting this book and it was well worth the time I spent reading and chewing on it. It reminds of a book I read a few years back by William Gurnall "The Christian In Complete Armour" which was written by a Puritan and is a classic on spiritual warfare. Pritchard's book is for those Christians who want to be aware of what is happening around them and how to fight (spiritually) back against the spiritual forces aligned against us. I especially loved Ray Pritchard's chapter called "Singing Your Way to Victory". Thanks Ray for helping Christians remember and use the weapons we have been given to fight the real "stealth" enemy. You will not regret the money and time spent reading this book.

The author offers interesting perspective to our eternal soul, and some of the passages in the Bible - especially about Jesus. He does contradict his position about Mediums and "cold readings" at certain points in the book, but all-in-all this is a good book - worth the price.

Robert Brown is a phychic sensitive who shares what he's learned about life & so-called "death" in his book "We Are Eternal".
He begins by discussing his "early years" - including the fact that he started off as a "certified skeptic" - with his original goal being to prove the non-existence of psychic abilities. From this point, he shows how & why his views changed, as well as when he realized that he actually had this gift that could be used to help others in so many wonderful ways...
Mr. Brown then goes on to discuss what he's learned over the years regarding various "major" life topics, such as:
Suicide - you can't run away from anything, even through death.
Death of Children - there is a "reason"
Disease - the need to maintain positive thoughts, the damage of prolonged negative thoughts, and the need for there to be a balance between the body & the spirit
Disabilities - we all have the "right" body for our mission
Religion - it's time for people to move away from "blind" faith, and return to their spiritual roots. He also discusses the good and the bad of some of the world's largest religions.
Some of the other topics discussed include: pets, reincarnation, karma, life after "death", and what happens to "evil" people.
Overall, I found this to be an easy, interesting read. As such, I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in spirituality &/or the "paranormal". An open mind is a must!

My husband and I lost our 20 year old son, Nathan. Our grief was intolerable. We had so many questions; where did he go, does he still exist in another place, who is with him, helping him? The day after his memorial service, we found ourselves in a book store looking for answers. We both at different times picked up the book, "We are Eternal". We thought this was a sign for sure that we were to read it.
While reading the book, We were able to find strength in knowing that he still existed, that this was not the end for him but rather a new beginning. My husband, who rarely ever reads, read it at least 20 times. We became stabalized and when we fell pray to our grief, we read it again and found strength. This book got us through and continues to get us through the toughest times of our lives.
We will never see death the same way again. It has forever changed our understanding of who we are and what we are here for.

I'm giving this book five stars because I think that unlike Beatrice Eadie and Sylvia Browne, this author is on the level and actually gets communication from the people we consider dead. Beatrice went much too heavy on Jesus Christ, who is, after all, just a man, and Sylvia is, I believe, someone who makes it up as she goes along and sometimes contradicts what she has previously written. I don't believe a word she writes. So when I come across "the real thing" I have to give it five stars.
The subtitle of this book is "What the spirits tell me about life after death". The problem is that this book does not live up to that promise. It tells next to nothing about life after death. For that, your best bet is Journey of Souls by Michael Newton, the very best book ever written on the subject, taken as a unit with his second book Destiny of Souls. Newton's third book doesn't add much and focuses on less interesting matters.
What did I learn here about life after death? I forgot. Not much. Warning bells started going off early, when the author was simply too chatty, taking too much time to tell us his early adventures in mediumship, making us wait too long for some information of substance. Whenever an author does that, you can reasonably suspect that he isn't going to tell us much.
Give me a minute to remember ONE THING that I learned from this book about life after death. He said that we fall into four different basic types - teachers, healers, warriors, and philosophers. I'd be a teacher. I am always shooting off my mouth about things. Communication is a mania with me, which is why I write so many Amazon reviews. Also, I can take a kid who is failing high school math and turn him into an A student in one or two lessons because I have a gift for teaching, by determining what the person already knows, and building on that, rather than by following my own agenda and hoping he gets it.
I can see myself spending a lot of time with the Akashic records, viewing Napoleon's battles, seeing history develop from a bird's eye view, that sort of thing. I'm always reading books now, in this stupid life. Imagine how much I'll be "reading" back home, when the "books" are what we call reality.
I wish this book lived up to its subtitle and told us much more about what our lives are like when we leave this life. I have so many questions. None of them are answered here.

Understand what it is like to live the unique life, one where no path is there to follow, and the trail blazing is left up to you. May we each be as bold!

It's for all stages of Christianity, those who are new to Christ and those who are more mature in their Christian walk. It comes highly recommended.

This book (Chinese translation) was given to me on the day of my baptism by an old lady in my church. At that time I was a 13 years old boy in a Presbyterian church in Taiwan. The Chinese title of the book was "The Power of Prayer" so I never thought of it as a book written for women. I remember I wept many times reading through that book. At this particular end-of-the-chapter prayer in which I surrender every part of my life to God...I was only a 13 years old boy in 6th grade, yet I pictured all the things I would do and love in the next decades and that I had given them up to God for His purpose.
My life had never been the same.
Today I am a 24 years old and a Master of Divinity student at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. As I am sitting in front of my computer weeping for all the hardships I have been through in my life, the prayer that I made 11 years ago came to me. I opened that 11 years old book and read that chapter again. I realized that my life has indeed been in His hands over all these years and through all the hardships.
In all, God is transforming me into a humble servant for Him, and in this difficult sanctifying process I am learning obedience and trusting in Him alone. This journey all started that night...reading this book.

As a relatively new yogi, I found Darren's book to be a fascinating read of the Eight Limbs. I hadn't a clear understanding of each until I read Darren's words. Not only do I feel a much deeper understanding of each limb, but I am able to deepen my practice. Darren's book was as wonderful as he is a person! Thanks, Darren.

I have tried to read many books about yoga and the eight limbs, but for the most part, I usually get frustrated and feel disconnected and quit. Darren Main has done something very unique. He has woven some of the more difficult concepts (and quotes from those "frustrating" books) and brought it all down to earth. I would recommend this book to anyone trying to deepen their practice, but not quite ready to isolate themselves in to the wilderness. It is a great easy read and really inspiring.

"Called: Becoming Who You Were Born to Be" is a must read book. Kary Oberbrunner has the task of telling us what we should be doing in our Christian walk. In the first chapter, Why Discipleship?, he hits the nail on the head when he is talking about most views of discipleship. We need to step up to the plate and take action as Christians! There rest of the book is no doubt going to amazing and may put us in our place.

In a Christian circle, we often find ourselves under the impression that it is a duty to serve God; when in fact, it is our privilege. In Kary's book, "Called: Becoming Who You Were Born to be", I found myself realizing that in a society which deems half-hearted as acceptable, we as believers are blessed with an awareness of a greater existence under the leadership of Christ. Kary links the talk with the walk in this innovative and refreshing reminder of God's desire for our lives.

I loved the first chapter of this book. I think as believers, we fail to be honest about what true discipleship is. Life more abundant (as Jesus promises) is indeed abundant, but there's so much more than simply the salvation and the joy that comes with it. We have to, like in any relationship, work for it. If we put in that work with Jesus, we will become who we are called ot be in Christ. Oberbrunner's first chapter touches on this--I can't wait to see the next chapters and what Oberbrunner will delve into to prove/build/defend/exhaust/confirm his point.

Ever wonder what your purpose is in life? Ever wonder if you've lost your focus? Kary addresses this in the very beginning of this book. From the start I asked myself "Where is my focus in life?" and it helped me relate with the first chapter. He reminds us that "life is all about God" and that "[we]'ve been called adventure of epic proportions." Making disciples is crucial in the world today...look around and you can understand why. I can't wait to read more of this book!

It is a conversation between a French woman (Gabrielle Bossis, 1874-1950), and her great Friend, her abiding Voice, her Loving Savior, Christ.
Playwright, dramatist and actress by profession, Gabrielle writes under invitation. He And i begins in 1936, while she is on a French passenger liner to Canada, where she will do a tour of her plays.
Every subsequent reader who "meets" this "book" is ALSO invited . . to REPLACE "Gabrielle Bossis", with their OWN name . . THEIR own life. That very same tender Voice now speaks to each reader, wants to coach each life, dispose every life-style - MINE,YOURS - into "THE JOY OF BEGINNING AGAIN", daily, coaching us into Heaven . . begun in Faith . . here and now . . on earth . .within time and, ultimately, beyond time into Eternity . . where, face to Face, we, His family of intimate friends, will be . . FOREVER! . . WITH HIM !
This volume is for lovers! Let us not fear to BE Loved . . . NOR to return OUR love!
To Gabrielle, to each reader, He pleads, "Ask that through this little book I may come as I once came, healing, drawing people to Me. What a triumphal entry into the silence of hearts!"
And indeed, how DEADLY silent our hearts are made by all the "appealing" but appalling and conflicting voices around!
But let us not allow that word "triumphal" to frighten us! . . because, in reality, it is "the abyss of Merciful Love" FILLING "the abyss of our nothingness" (Bl. Elizabeth of the Trinity, OCD, "Heaven In Faith", ICS publications). . . entering with incomprehensible Love.
A POSTSCRIPT (Sept.9/07): Everything Benedict XVI focusses on in his homily (cf.Google/"ZENIT") at St.Stephen's Cathedral (Vienna) during his papal visit to Austria, i.e. the necessity of "Giving Sunday back to one's soul, and one's soul back to Sunday", confirms the message of He And i! The "Loving-kindness" one receives from the Lord by honoring His Day -Sunday- is the same, IS the "tender Voice", which the reader experiences on each page of He And i.
Each of these reviews, and together, eloquently intone the praises proper to that "tender Voice" -"Oh!Ancient Beauty"- first made into a prayer by St. Augustine.
The Divine Mercy forsees the most intimate needs of our souls way before the situations and conditions "arrive"!
By scheduling time for a reading of He And i "between Sundays" we extend and implant the JOY of Sunday into the nitty-gritty of EVERY day.
Thanks be to God! Truly, "Alleluiah!" (Joy!)! Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit!
That very same tender Voice now speaks to each reader, wants to coach each life, dispose every life-style - MINE,YOURS - into "THE JOY OF BEGINNING AGAIN", daily, coaching us into Heaven . . begun in Faith . . here and now . . on earth . .within time and, ultimately, beyond time into Eternity . . where, face to Face, we, His family of intimate friends, will be . . FOREVER! . . WITH HIM !

He & I has for more than a decade brought wave upon wave of consolation and hope to the shores of my soul. Our Lord truly speaks through this little book and has me returning to it again and again more than any other spritual book I've ever read. My copy is both worn and dog-eared and with little notes I penciled in when it seemed as if He anticipated my very thoughts before turning the page! This book is no small miracle for you will feel as if you are in direct conversation with Our Lord, with His very breath exhaled on every page...

It is hard to find a Book that could be described as the Ultimate Truth - APART FROM THE BIBLE - THIS I AM CONVINCED IS AN EXTENSION OF GOD'S WORD TO A SUFFERING WORLD. This is a remarkable, even stunning diary of a French Woman who faithfully wrote down convesations she experienced The Lord had with her from 1936 to 1950 - the dialogue is so different and compelling, even more so than with Theresa of Avila, that the book elicits responses that no other I have ever read has done. One is left with the conviction that she did in fact communicate simply with Her Great Friend in this manner and that you can too - I have in fact experienced similar " understandings " after humbly reading and believing the life-changing transcripts - THERE IS NO OTHER BOOK THAT IS LIKE THIS apart from the New Testament.

I found this book in the chapel of my church, and started reading it. I read it everyday after the mass; within a few months, I had begun attempts to reorganize the priorities of my life: it was first work, then God, and then people; now I want it to be first God, then people, and then work. Read this book and let it carry you away.

My husband and I bought this book when we heard it mentioned in a sermon. We have been very blessed by the insight that is helping us to look at ourselves and the way we communicate with each other. It helps you to realize what you've been carrying that has nothing to do with present-day relationships. It also challenges you to look at yourself the way God does. It is teaching us to re-assess our worth through God's eyes. Excellent book!

As a pastor and spiritual director, I've been using this book as a regular give-away to believers when it becomes obvious that they are stuck - some old wound is yet hindering them from normal spiritual growth in Christ. Having ministered among Native People for several years, as well as those dealing with addictions (even as Christians), I found the truths and principles Dr. Seamands expounds on very beneficial in truly helping people heal from their past emotional wounds, and the memories of them, and then be able to progress in spiritual development. I believe our churches have many folks sitting in the pews, Sunday after Sunday, with serious pain from their past adversely affecting their present ability to relate freely to Christ, or to others in relationships. Until we understand this, and how Christ can work through us as "ministers" by his healing grace to nullify the effects of debilitating memories, we will continue to see believers spiritually 'stuck', stagnated in their growth.
Dr. Seamand's book HEALING OF MEMORIES (now titled, REDEEMING THE PAST: RECOVERING FROM MEMORIES THAT CAUSE OUR PAIN), builds on HEALING DAMAGED EMOTIONS by going, in detail, into the process of ministering healing to those with painful, debilitating memories. Every pastor who counsels should understand how to help believers in this way!

This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. It pointed out to me that I've been looking at myself through different mirrors, and I haven't been seeing myself the way God sees me. Instead of placing more guilt on ourselves, David Seamand identifies the lies and misperceptions that we've been taught over the years and encourages us to break free from the bondage of those misperceptions. This is a book that every Christian should read.

The Purpose your Heart Cries For

Before I read LIFE ON PURPOSE I participated in several of Brad Swift's Teleconferences where he outlined the process in his book. What and how he shared touched me and I wanted to experience going through the passages he spoke of and discover what it might reveal for my life. I found the book filled with questions, big, small, simple, easy and quite a few challenging - by far almost all worthwhile answering. The text is peppered with wonderful quotes that range from profound to hilarious. It is easy reading and light of heart for a 'serious' book about a big topic.
For myself, I found Brad's 3rd passage, UNCOVERING WHAT'S BEEN SHAPING YOUR LIFE, the simplest and most direct approach to 'examining the past' I have ever come across. Brad takes the seemingly complicated issues that often unconsciously shape our lives -survival patterns, role models, socio-economics, religion, nationality, etc - and renders them understandable in a 'non-psychological' manner - without bypassing powerful emotions such as fear and vulnerability. His path of questions reveal the pattern of the "wall paper" that you have been staring at in your everyday life and perhaps never noticed. Then, this pattern is distilled into a concise description he terms your "Inherited Purpose" which is from then on contrasted with the evolving discovery of your "Life Purpose" throughout the rest of the book. This distillation proved extremely useful to me, as I explored the rest of the passages and as I continue on in my Life Purpose. Every time the "Inherited Purpose" infiltrates my thinking I can easily identify and dispel its deadening presence. Now, my Life Purpose is an evolving endeavor that has the very best of me at the forefront of my life. LIFE ON PURPOSE is not a silver bullet with fast answers but an excavation that frees one's intuition and liberates consciousness for the purpose your heart cries out for.

After retiring from the Federal Government in order to move from DC and pursue a teaching career I had all but given up. No one was interested in hiring this late 50's veteran who just wanted to teach. I heard Brad at church and bought his book Life on Purpose. I did all the exercises which reinvigorated my belief the I was to BE a teacher. Within another month I was offered a job as a co teacher of Exceptional Children, teaching two Language Arts and two Science classes in a middle school. Brad's book was a significant part of my commitment to being a teacher. Read the book, do the exercises it may just work for you too.

By accident I came accross this book, looking for marital advice I came across a web site that had really nothing to do with what I was looking for and one of the recommended readings was "Life on Purpose" so I bought it. What could it hurt?! It is great! I have started reading and each time a question comes up or a test is given, what ever it is, I pull out a blank sheet of paper, write it at the top and answer it but if I have trouble answering the question I finish reading and come back to my piece of paper. Then I add it to a three ring binder and am creating a workbook of sorts that I can go back and refer to. This helps you see your progress and gives you a "paper trail" so you can see where you are and where you came from. It has really opened my eyes and makes you think and see things from different angles than you normally would. I recommend it. What could it hurt?

It's fairly easy for many people to agree that we all came to this world for a purpose. That we have a divine reason to be here, with our specific set of gifts, to put them at the service of the world and all those we come in contact with, and transform our lives to be a reflection of our divine purpose. The big question is "HOW?" Dr Swift's book - "Life on Purpose: Six Passages to an Inspired Life" is a practical and inspirational guide that walks you by the hand through the process of first reaching clarity on the why are we here question, and then on the second stage, how to make our life a reflection of that divine reason.
I have gone through his Tele-Course on "Living a Fulfilled Life" and also have read the book and are using it as guide for me and also for others dear in my life, to help make the dream of creating a "World on Purpose" a reality. I strongly recommend it!

Eagle Man (Ed McGaa) shares his knowledge of Lakota Sioux spiritual practices as a way to include everyone who wants to heal our world. He calls those who revere Mother Earth and want to ensure her continuation, Rainbow People. He writes in an intimate way, as if talking with friends. He describes the meaning of the various rituals and myths and shares helpful information about how non-Native people may or may not participate. In addition to his personal journey and the sacred practices, he details techniques for building a sweat lodge, making a peace pipe and more. A fascinating book which has earned a place in my personal library.

Ken Wilber has written many books but I think this is my favorite. It is certainly one of the best books to help us understand the dual nature of consciousness. It also does a fine job in organizing various theoretical viewpoints into one general framework. The other book that integrates these things using a more practical approach is Toru Sato's "The Ever-transcending Spirit". It is an excellent book as well! It applies these ideas about consciousness to interpersonal experiences and concrete aspects of development. Both books are really fantastic!
Excellent introduction to Wilber's early thought and a synthesis of Eastern and Western approaches to growth

I have read many of Ken Wilber's books and this is one of the better ones. The spotlight reviews do a very good job of pointing out the shortcoming and strengths as well as summarizing Ken's general ideas. I won't repeat what they have said here, but will add my own thoughts.
This book has a different tone and structure than many of Mr. Wilber's other books. There is less repitition and somehow he seems to be more accessible and lyrical in his descriptions and metaphors. If you read later Wilber, you will find it lacks some of the feeling tone of this earlier work.
In this book, Ken talks about boundaries and how they are often mental constructs. For example, the boundary that defines me could be taken arbitrarily as my skin. However, I might say I have a body, rather than that I am a body. This implies perhaps that I am a mind that is associated with a body and that I'm moving the line between self and other to the head. In a similar fashion, it is possible that a may have a transpersonal experience in which case my boundary moves out beyond my skin. The idea is much like the arbitrary division between a tree's roots, limbs and branches. These divisions don't necessarily exist as distinct boundaries on the tree, but arise from the analytical nature of thought.
In general, the book looks at a synthesis of Western and Eastern psychological and spiritual approaches to growth. It challenges tacit assumptions on both sides and tries to get the reader to take a broader perspective on reality while honoring what is good in each particular tradition. It is an extremely thought-provoking work and includes a lot of good scholarship. I find it to be highly complimentary to Wilber's later work and often more eloquent.
If you are looking for the best, most comprehensive and readable introduction to Wilber's work, I recommend A BRIEF HISTORY OF EVERYTHING. If you are interested in a good developmental psychology book from Wilber's point of view, then the ATMAN PROJECT will not disappoint. It covers development from birth to enlightenment and it quite fascinating. If you own these three books you will have a good overview of Wilber's most important ideas without a lot of overlap. If you are interested primarily in his latest thinking, then INTEGRAL SPIRITUALITY may also be a good choice.

This book is really amazing! It gives readers an excellent introduction to the study of consciousness and transcendence. If you have already read this book and liked it, I also recommend Toru Sato's "The Ever-Transcending Spirit". It's an outstanding book that explains consciousness even better by putting it into the context of interpersonal relationships and human development.

The struggle between the forces of good and evil is one that has been going on since the beginning of time, and Christians know that the Bible assures us that in the end, good will prevail and evil will be defeated. However, even though we already know the eventual outcome, Satan uses every dirty trick available to try and convince us otherwise. He seeks to make us doubt and to discourage and eventually destroy us.
In Stealth Attack, we are shown how Satan attacks us - and how we can fight back. Pastor Ray Pritchard draws on the Scriptures and explains how we can use the teachings found in the Bible to arm ourselves for the fight and win the war with evil.
I have read this book from cover to cover twice now and I highly recommend it for any Christian who is struggling and needs help with the constant battle with the devil. Which is probably the majority of us.
