Great Mountain Story!

I attended a live performance of "Songs from the Mountain" at E-town in Boulder which was excellent and caused me to read some books about mountain life. This one, in particular, caught my eye and my interest. It is extremely well-written, heartfelt and endearing. I recommend it most highly!

Finally a fresh author who's not afraid to be fresh!

I'm a teacher so this book spoke to me. Miss Sinclair captured my heart in more ways than one. She addressed serious subjects in a way that made them more than believable without being patronizing. If anyone cares about social issues and positive outcomes, this is a book they should read. Plus, the author's style flows. In fact, I wanted to stop reading but I couldn't. So I stayed up all nioht and loved the book. A great story. I wish my name was Eve!I can't wait to read her new book, Angel Flight. Can I get it at amazon.com? Please let me know and thanks.

I met the author at a bookstore in Panama City last year and got her book for my wife. Ms. Sinclair was both charming and gracious and she helped me with her encouraging words about my career change. I could tell she was a woman with a heart and according to my wife, Ms. Sinclair's compassion came through this book about life in the Kentucky mountains. Last week I finally made the time to read "Grant Denied" and I enjoyed the story and the characters. It's entertaining, well written and meaningful to all and I recommend it highly to other readers. This is the sort of book my wife and I wish would make it to Oprah's Book Club.

Best Herb Book on the Shelf!

Review Date: 2001-06-08
I've read a ton of herbal books and own about that many times two but this is the one herbal that stands out on the shelf. It's readable, informative and contains information not found in other books. Beautifully illustrated, this small book is worth the price. I go to it often and enjoy reading it time and again.

One-of-a-kind sampler

This book is a great introduction to herbal medicine. Straightforward and packed with information, this sampler really hits the mark - few others can provide this level of detail in such a readable way. This book will make any reader want to learn more about the historical uses (and the pharmacology!) of herbs.

What a great herbal medicine sampler!

This book is a terrific sampler for anyone interested in herbal medicine. It's loaded with great information and is very consumer-friendly. The authors strike a nice balance in their presentation of historical information and the pharmacology of the herbs profiled; not too much science, but more than enough to pique a reader's interest. I hope they write more of these!

Fresh approach to a fascinating subject

I picked this book up in a health food store and started reading it on my way home. The authors achieve their purpose of drawing readers into the field of herbal medicine by using practical language, interesting scientific and medical facts and folk myths and legends. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I think all readers will find it a valuable addition to their personal libraries.

In "Rodeo Man: Colorado Leather Meets Alabama Lace," Jennifer Sinclair offers an ideal example of a thoughtful regional tale that is full of local color, respectful of her people, and free of condescension. EXCELLENT WRITING from a very talented novelist.

Best one yet from Jennifer Sinclair!

I read her first novel "Fiery Dunes" last year while at the Coast and enjoyed it so much I had to get "Rodeo Man", her newest book. It's GREAT!!!! Her characters come to life and the storyline keeps you going until you HAVE TO finish the book. Miss Sinclair is a fantastic writer and I'm looking forward to her next novel which I hope will be soon.

The drama, setting, characterization and story rate A++++. I loved this book and recommend it to all. Combining two cultures into an amazing story was believable and quite touching. The emotional pull of his novel is well done and I'm looking forward to Jennifer Sinclair's next novel.

....Jenni is an excellent writer, and this book is her best effort yet. In my personal opinion, its just a matter of when one of the major New York romance publishers sign her - it would be the best decision they could ever possibly make.

"Fiery Dunes" is a delightful novel from a very talented author. Jennifer Sinclair's prose has a lyrical quality and her concept of heart and soul stays with readers long after they've finished the book. Start reading this one and you won't put it down until you've finished the story. "Fiery Dunes" goes on my A-list!

I've read all of Jennifer Sinclair's books and they're excellent but FIERY DUNES is still my favorite one. The characters are like real people in real-life situations in a beautiful setting. The inner conflict of the heroine Anne reminds me of many of my own internal struggles. Read this novel and you'll enjoy a great book!

Classic Beach Book!

If you only have room for 2 books in your beach bag, take "Fiery Dunes" as one of your choices. Its story is perfect, the length is just right for a sunny day, and the setting stages a first class beach mood. Available at the coolest beach stores in Gulf Shores-Orange Beach-Fort Morgan, Ala. and the Riviera Centre in Foley, this book is one you will enjoy and pass along to a friend. Another recommendation is for Anne George's Southern Sister mysteries. Ms. George and Ms. Sinclair exhibit a talent for developing quirky characters who come to life on page 1 and hold the reader's attention throughout the book.

Finally, a book worth reading! Fast-paced action, believable and interesting characters, just-right passion and a setting that becomes one of the characters -- plus an excellent storyline. If you're looking for an enjoyable Southern read, this book is a winner!

Ok, it's not War and Peace, but for all us who miss Jennifer Paterson or who never knew the range of her unconventionality from the TV show, this is a quick and delightful ride driven by those who knew and loved her. Loving testaments from those who fired her for throwing all the dishes out the window, those she insulted, those she cooked for, are published alongside photos from her birth to old age, and of her helmet being carried behind her coffin at her funeral . Let your hair down, pour a glass, and dig this one!

Disappointed!!

I was very disappointed in this book. It seems to have been rushed to press. It just mulls over the same things, what Jennifer's jobs were and her heavy drinking. There must have been more to this interesting lady. Wish it had been better. Maybe someone will write a better book about this woman.

When I was first assigned to read this book in a literature course, I doubted that the novel would appeal to me. How wrong I was! I'm in the military and deployed overseas and I've got to tell you -- this is a great book! The writer has a way with descriptions and dialogue that kept my attention from page 1 and on from there. The conflict between the three characters is meaningful in a literary way, but also a riot because of the humorous undercurrent between the heroine and antiheroine. Jennifer Sinclair has a new fan in me, a tough-guy GI. She gets an A++++!

Another great effort....

I received Angel Flight as a Christmas present and I've got to say this is one book that I read immediately and enjoyed every page! The characters were fascinating and I enjoyed the interplay between the heroine, Desiree, and the anti-heroine, Susanna. The hero, Ben, was amazing and the depth of his struggle touched me deeply. If you haven't read this book, buy it now. You won't be sorry and I thank my friend for sending me a copy.
