This book is well written and thought provoking. I will not go into plot details but rather recommend that you read this book and share it with a young person you care about. It is a great jumping off point for conversation. My son and I had a great time discussing this book and playing the 'what if' game. Try it and you will have read a great book and hopefully will be reminded how thoughtful young people can be.

David is more than just odd, or strange, or different. David is kind of a genetic anomaly, truly a freak of nature. His "hearing aids" actually minimize sound, under his hat are bat-like ears, and under his sweatshirt, well, that's the craziest part of all. David actually has wings. Not big feathery things, but a thin layer of tissue that allows him to coast through the air if he jumps from a high point.

Anybody in high school knows that being different isn't usually a good thing. Even the wrong haircut can lead to months of torture. For David, his differences could be life threatening. He's already been shipped from foster home to foster home, from school to school. When he gets in trouble at his most recent school, he prepares to start all over, again, somewhere else. This time though, the only thing that changes is the school. Amazingly, this time he might actually be okay. Sure, he's still not telling anybody about the hearing and the wings, but he's not getting beat up, either. And, he might actually have a girlfriend!

David accompanies his maybe girlfriend, Cheetah, to the Mayo clinic, and finds out some surprising information about himself. Along with a few creepy flashbacks. With this new information, David is going to have some very tough choices to make, and some harder lessons to learn.

I was expecting something completely different from this story, but I couldn't have been happier to be completely wrong! This story is incredibly touching and powerful, and honest. All of the characters are amazing and strong and realistic. The choices David makes may not be the ones you would make, but you feel the weight of them right along with him. And the lessons he learns are the simple but huge kind that everyone needs to be reminded of from time to time. It's a beautiful, simple, incredible thing.

I could not put this book down. Each person's poignant story gave me a new understanding and compassion for mental illness of all kinds. I believe it will go a long way in healing the fear and stigma surrounding those who suffer from this kind of illness. As John Brown states in his introduction, "No one feels more lost, alone, misunderstood, confused, and hopeless than someone experiencing a depressive episode. This book will not only benefit the patient; it will also aid their family members, who are just as confused and bewildered."

Find out that you are not alone!

I am the webowner of the Mental Health Sanctuary and added a story to this book. When the book came out and I was able to read other's stories, not only was the book very interesting to read, but it helped to comfort me, realizing that what I endured in my life was shared by many people. I felt so much less alone as I read other people's stories - their hardships, their pain and how they worked through it - what gave them strength, etc.

If you are hurting and you are feeling alone and perhaps that there is no way out in your life, this book is for you. If you are a family member and you are having a difficult time understanding your loved one, this book is for you

Spiritual Recovery Journey

This book has provided me with strength and comfort as I was going through the most difficult time with my husband's sickness with MS. As I read the author's experiences of his own painful personal situation and his agony of asking GOD of why, I could easily relate that to my own.

This is not a book for pleasure reading. It is intended to walk you through the process of acceptance of your situation that GOD is in control of all. It was painful to go through the book. My book was so full of tears, notes, and coffee stains. When I first read the book, I cried more than I read. As time went by, I could feel the strength in my soul to be able to think through the process.

This book has saved four of us and the two turtles. It has confirmed our faith and belief that our heavenly father is with us through good time and bad time.

apply the concepts that author will munson states in his book and see a change in your life. one concept that he talks about (which i will mention on here) is about (believing). it has many elements on the Christian light(which is great) and i say this is an excellent book. A book that provides a map or a road toward the endgoal.i agree with will munson, about all of us having luck, it just takes more hard work, applying the principles that he talks about, being optimistic, and simply believing (having faith)in oneself-always-and not to be overtaken/conquered by the negatism that comes our way(it is hard but you must do:always).

if you ever wondered, why am i not lucky? then get this book and give it a try. there is nothing to lose at all (just a couple of dollars) but gain new direction in your present very important life.

i am keeping my copy forever. recommended 5 stars.

I felt lucky the minute I picked up this book just a few short years ago. You see, I had taken a class that the author taught on publishing books. Later on I went on to publishing many books for other authors and I met my future husband, all when I least expected. How did this happen? By using the guidelines in Mr. Munson's book. Believe me he is an expert in his field. The book is well written and a happy type of book, very upbeat and the readers subconsciously follow his advice after reading it. I am happy to see his success as an author. I hope he goes on to write more.

Sometimes you just get stuck, not knowing where to start writing. I kept sitting down with my nice pen and a notebook and nothing came out. So I thought... what have I got to lose?

This book has fun exercises that get the creative juices flowing again in all directions. It certainly did with me.

I wasn't completely sure what to expect from this book, but as soon as I started applying the techniques shown I was amazed by how effective they are. If you already write creatively, this book will help you to get more out of your writing and enable you to tune into the 'zone' at will.

If, like myself, the only time you think of putting pen to paper is to get work done, and if you feel too busy to spend time connecting with your inner feelings, then this is essential reading.

The book is beautifully written in such a way that anyone can start benefiting from the techniques by committing just a small amount of time each day for five days.

Attorney Joe C. Hopkins has served as the editor of the Pasadena Journal and in that capacity, fearlessly voiced his uncompromising (and at times quite controversial) thoughts concerning the infestation of negative image of Black youth in the media and the best means to provide economic empowerment of Black youth today. I Will Not Apologize is a manifesto of Hopkins' articulated opinions and proposed solutions to fight against economic and social dilemmas that plague contemporary African-Americans. From the importance of teaching young black men and women to succeed, to the value of entrepreneurship, government lies, as well as the importance of learning to speak Spanish, and denouncing gangster rap artists as "role models for failure", I Will Not Apologize collects diverse and individual short pieces that, brought together, offer a rigorous path to a better future. I Will Not Apologize is especially recommended reading and a welcome addition to Black Studies supplemental reading lists.

Mr. Ajani is a true renaissance man. He writes with the brain of a project manager and with the heart of a spiritual guru. His last book "Extreme Project Management" had me taking notes immediately. This one is goes far beyond. He has captured the fact that we are all struggling and in need of a parachute, life preserver, or something. Things are moving too fast and our life skills haven't kept pace. For your lifesake, you must read this book!

Great, yet sometimes disturbing read!

Eric Tribune Review:

I had the advantage of acquiring this book from the publisher. I find it necessary to write this, so the reader can get the most out of the book.

Shaun Ajani starts the book, just like any other self help/meta-physical book. By a longer then usual introduction, and almost a step by step description of how you can get what you want. It was just at the border of getting boring, when it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I suddenly realized that I was being taken on a ride. Before I even realized, I was actually doing everything that I was supposed to manage my life! This book is absolutely a perfect example of a self improvement book, because it actually helps you as you read.

A positively great read. E.R Tribune

I've read many books since my husband died. This book is at the top of the list. I found it on a shelf in a small book store while visiting relatives. Now I give it as a gift to others as the author gave it as a gift to his spouse. The messages are universal, the words are personal.

I purchased 2 hypnosis and relaxation CD's through Amazon; "Eliminate TMJ and Teeth Grinding", by Scott Sulak and this one. The TMJ CD was a bust, but this CD was wonderful! I've been struggling with panic attacks and anxiety for 6 months now. After a 9 week bout with Paxil and several attempted "natural" remedies, what seems to work the best (for me) is good old fashioned cognitive therapy and this hypnosis CD. I do occasionally find myself falling asleep throughout this recording, but there is an insert that states you will still be able to subconsciously take in Trevor's suggestions. After 2 weeks, I feel less anxious and like I have some control over my worrying. This CD won't "cure" you overnight and I would suggest cognitive therapy in conjunction with, but I give this CD 5 stars as a place to start.
