I liked Voices of Wisdom. This book is a very educational tool. It covers ideas and articles from such philosophers as Jean Paul Sartre, David Hume, Socrates, and etc... The book has a wide variety of ideas, and arguments. This book is good for a student just beginning to learn philosophy. I would be pleased to recommend this book to anyone curious about the subject.

What a cool book! Used often as a required textbook for Philosophy 101 classes, this is a valuable reference for a lifetime. Most of the book is multi-page excerpts from some of the great thinkers in human history. Plato, Laozi, James, Martin Luther King, Engels, Nietzsche, Dalai Lama, Richard Dawkins, Kuhn, on and on. It's neatly organized into twelve chapters; within each there are about six excerpts from different books with an insightful introduction and reading questions. Chapters include Is There a god? Is Knowledge Possible? What Am I? and other non-trival questions.

Reading this comprehensive anthology gives a broad literate education without the months (years?) it would take to read through all the original texts, if you could somehow know what they'd be. A worthwhile reference and a jumping off point into some classic books of human thought.

The Mexican government has closed many of the runways covered in this book, whose last update was a 1999 supplement. In other cases the airport condition has substantially changed. Talk to fellow pilots before relying on information in Air Baja.

Flying in Baja

If you have ever wanted to fly to Baja, or if you just enjoy a great travel guide, get this book. Flying in Baja isn't quite the same as in the USA. Galen Hanselman has done a first class job of demystifying flight into Baja. He describes everthing you need to know to safely and legally enter Mexico. Flight in Mexican airspace is quite different than here in the USA. From your entry into Baja, to avoiding problems with US customs on your return is clearly spelled out. Every airport has a color photograph taken from the air. Runway numbers are superimposed to aid in identifying and landing at each airport. In addition, he has devised a hazard index to assist a pilot in determing if the landing can be made within the abilities of the pilot or his airplane. His system, which he calls the "relative hazard index" looks at factors such as the length and elevation of the runway, the approach and departure terrain, and the condition of the surface itself. All are totaled to arrive at an overall number. The higher the number, the more difficult the airport. A pilot has a very accurate picture of what he is facing before he ever takes off. I found his rating system to be very helpful when I flew to Baja last year. The second half to the books outlines what you will find after you land. His writting style is very colorful, are makes for enjoyable reading. From the smallest fishing camp to la Paz and Mexicalli, he outlines what you can expect. Frequently he throws in some of the local history. He even tells you in some cases who to ask for by name. All in all it is one of the most enjoyable travel books I have ever read. I would recommend it to every pilot going to Baja, and to anyone who wants to know more about our Southern neighbor. In addition he has a custon aeronautical chart that is more useful than the WAC ch-22. A disk with all of navigational information for all airports is also available.

I just concluded a government course at a university, and I highly recommend this book to fellow students. It gives a thorough and up-to-printing review of things that have affected American goverment The authors really go into detail about some issues, so if that's the kind of thing that you're seeking, then this book is great. It gives a general definition of what will be discussed throughout the book, and then moves into more specified areas of government, say, voting. Then the book provides ample detail and history of voting, and discusses voting trends, voting habits, and nonvoting habits and trends. I like it (it's helped me get through the course) and I found it a very useful tool to understanding everything that happens in the American government system.

I am currently using this book for AP US Government Politcal Systems, and it has been a great help. It goes into great deal about the constitutional underpinnings, and even discusses todays most powerful lobbys. It is surprising current. I reccomend this to any student, or anyone who has a passion about learning about American Goverment.

the pleasure of study

This book is not only important, but also attractive. In current oceanography, the classical marine ecosystem image that is based on phytoplankton and crustaceans is not always applicable. When crustaceans cannot perform their role as glazer, gelatinous organisms, like tunicates or jellyfish, can produce their clones rapidly and fill the gap of food chain. But, the facts about tunicates has fined out relatively recently, this book is the only review. And this book explains the history of the science related to these organisms, so we can understand the difficulties and the pleasures of the study.

An unique up-to-date account of pelagic Tunicates

Review Date: 2001-01-20
The Biology of Pelagic Tunicates is, to my knowledge, the only book dealing with the biology and ecology of these amazing organisms. This fact per se would make the book extremely valuable and attractive for any person interested in plankton ecology. Yet, its clarity, the amplitude of the subjects dealt, and the profundity of the knowledge presented convert the work in a milestone of plankton ecology. Most of this success is probably due to the fact that the authors are of greatest excellence and are known within the best experts in the field. The Biology of Pelagic Tunicates presents, thus, a clear summary of the present knowledge on these important, although quite unknown, marine organisms, dealing, among other subjects, with their anatomy, taxonomy, physiology and ecological relevance. We have not to forget, however, that this is a highly specialized book that is addressed to biologists or other scientists interested in the subject, but not to the common reader.

I DONT THINK I GAINED TOO MUCH FROM GOING OVER THIS BOOK BECAUSE I ALSO DID THE QBANK AND QBOOK WHICH TO MY OPINION ARE BETTER THAN THE BLUEPRINTS.
BUT STILL, THE FORMAT OF THE QUESTIONS IS NICE ,AND IF YOU ARE RUNING OUT OF QUESTIONS AND STILL HAVE SOME SPARE TIME,THIS BOOK IS A GOOD OPTION.

I used this book towards the end of my review for Step 1. I found the multi-step questions (stem/vignette about one subject, question about another subject) to be similar to many of the questions that I had on the actual exam. A useful adjunct to Qbank and Qbook.

This was the best NCLEX Question & Answer book I used to prepare. It was excellent because it has 10 NCLEX style exams that really helped me understand NCLEX type questions. It was so helpful because it gives you the exam and then immediatley following in the next chapter it gives you the same exam with rationales for right and wrong answers. The questions were really good, and I learned so much from the excellent rationales. Thanks so much, I know this book helped me to PASS THE NCLEX!

I studied with this book for the NCLEX and found it very helpful. The questions are separate from the answer key which prevented me from sneaking a peek when I was clueless. I would recommend this book for an overall review. If you want specific subject areas, the questions for OB, Peds, etc are spread out all over, and not concentrated in one area. GOOD LUCK FUTURE NURSES!!!!

Eliot's penultimate play (and second comedy) is markedly different from his earlier efforts. It is well-written but decidedly less poetic: although printed in verse form, the sound is almost conversational. In addition, Eliot's usual Christian themes are here allegorical rather than explicit. The handling is quite skillful: there is none of the ham-handed "X stands for Y, you morons!" that mars so many allegories. One can easily dig down into the Christian messages if desired, but the play is also satisfying at the top level.

By the standards of Eliot's output as a whole, a rating of 3.5 stars is more appropriate than 4. One can regret the loss of intensity in the writing while still enjoying the play itself.

An excellent novel

A Dubious Legacy is the second book written by Mary Wesley that I have read, and her writing entrances me. This book spans the period of 1944 through 1990 and focuses on the lives of the participants at what appears to be a straightforward dinner party. As the evening progresses, unexpected and unusual things occur. The book goes on to tell the story of the effect these events have on the lives of those present at this dinner party.

By slowly telling the story, uncovering information bit by bit, the writer creates a feeling of suspense. I was reluctant to put the book down, and felt slightly uneasy until I was able to finish it. I enjoyed the unusual characters the writer was able to create and felt that they were right at home in the setting of this novel. Mary Wesley also allows the reader to feel that they intimately know the characters by the end of the story. Somehow she is able to accomplish this with a minimal amount of detail.

I totally enjoyed this book and I have no qualms about recommending it to readers who enjoy the genre of comedy of manners. I am eager to read other books written by this author.

This was my introduction to Mary Wesley. I liked this book very much and I intend to read Wesley's other books. A Dubious Legacy kept my interest, my attention and was responsible for the discreet smile I presented throughout its reading. For, indeed, the doings of three couples through several decades in mid 20th century -- the subject under scrutiny in this comedy of manners -- was portrayed with humorous detachment and unwavering perspicacity. Ms Wesley is very good at placing her characters within the axioms of each decade's mores and develops insightful cameos of each era's preoccupations.
This is a short novel, a succinct book, developed in a fast tempo, keeping all along a mystery we hope to unveil. The central characters look at first as banal as they can be, but soon we realize appearances are misleading. These six upper middle class friends in the English country side are the source of great social commentary made by an ironic and warm narrator, a painter as it were, using few incisive strokes. The result is great fun and speedy reading, a book which I would recommend to anyone wishing to be intrigued and entertained.

Well my review was that it was boring because it didn't make sense . It also wasin't scary just a little I just got scared when I was alone in my room and they just came in beacause it gave me shivers. Or I woul'd get scared when a part whene I think its scary and my sister or brother would just barge in and I would get scared. But if know one barge'd then I wouldn't get scared. I stillwould recomended to little kids beacause it would be fun and scary for little kids that belive theres monsters in there house or that mosters exist so I would recomended for little kids that do belive in monsters and that is it.

The book starts off like a typical boaring pre-teens book, but when the elderly ladies get involved it becomes more interesting, they start cleaning up the fountain and every thing is going good, but then bad things just keep on piling ontop of eachother. The book has interesing characters buta dull storyline.
