WOW, WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO GO BACK IN TIME W/ THE VAN HALEN BOYS...ESPECIALLY DAVE, CUZ W/O HIM THERE IS NO VAN HALEN!!!!! IF YOU LOVE VAN HALEN, YOU NUST MUST MUST BUY THIS BOOK!!!!

I remember hearing the first track of VH 1 when it was released,
bringing with it chills up the spine and jaw dropped.
This book brings you in a time warp to witness rock history, and
realize - in case you didn't - that Van Halen dropped a bomb on
the music scene. Not only a revolutionary guitar god, but songs
and live performances that rose light years beyond what was coming out
of the U.S.A. at the time. The kind we won't see again, either.

The photos, by a master of R&R photography, look like they were taken
yesterday. Crisp, clear and a great mix of group shots and live. The
backstage pics of Eddie preparing his axe arsenal, for example, are priceless; Alex behind one of his monster drum kits.

And yes, it appropriately culminates with 1984 - got a problem with that?

Felt like I was back in high school, as I flipped through this book about the Rock God's -- Van Halen. Finally a Van Halen book worth looking at. Beautiful book about the Greatest Rock Band and Guitarist of all time.

This is a big, good quality hardcover book. Mostly full of pictures, hence the title. The pictures are excellent quality, and I couldn't stop from looking through them. There are also many quotes and stories from other musicians and coworkers. Very interesting. I bought this book as a gift for a huge Eddie fan, and I'm sure he'll display it proudly on his coffee table... I know I would.

It's an amazing visual history of the band we all grew up listening to. I'm very happy that I bought it.

This is a lovely book with simple, thoughtful passages for the days leading up to Christmas. The passages evoke feelings of centeredness, peace and calm similar to awakening to a beautiful, fresh snowfall.

Good reading from a variety of excellent, trusted writers...Nouwen, Bonhoeffer, Manning, etc. all offer reflections on the Advent/Christmas season that will make you go deeper...

Personally, I struggle with reading during this time of year due to busy schedule but I have found this daily digest a perfect way to enhance my Advent season of waiting...

I bought copies for my friends and family. Everyone loved it!

The diversity of authors come together in surprising unity. This broadened my perspective and made me want to find books written by the individual authors. I also loved that the authors are from all points in history and geography. An experience like this is what all of us in the US need.

After my wife and I found out we were pregnant we bought half a dozen different books from Amazon about pregnancy. The two types of books we were looking for were those that track what's going on with the development of the baby and the other type was books that said what my wife's body was going to be going through. For the second book, what to expect when you're expecting has seemed to work the best, but for the one tracking the baby's development, Watch Me Grow has been our favorite. It tracks the development week by week, and short and straight to the point. Another resource we found online was a website called BabyCenter.com. We signed up for a newsletter that sends the same kind of info this book has every week to tell us about what's up with the kid.

I didn't find this book until my second pregnancy. It is very informative and the pictures are captivating. This book, along with the NOVA Miracle Months dvd, helped to explain to my older daughter (6 at the time) all about the developmental stages that her unborn sister was undergoing. I have since shared this book with many other women in my workplace. I al so keep a copy or 2 on hand to give to friends and family as soon as I hear that they are pregnant. The earlier in a pregnancy that this book is received, the more it can be enjoyed :)

This book has very good week-by-week illustrations. This is my first baby so my husband and I enjoy looking at the pictures each week and "seeing" what our baby looks like in the womb.

I live 2,000 miles from my pregnant daughter and this book helps me feel a part of her pregnancy. The information is great and not too much. The photos are unbelievable! I absolutely recommend this book!

Very informative book. I have to read it again and consult with a physiotherapist. But as far as I understood, it is an extention of Alexander Technique and it further explains all what is used on piano technique. It further explain forearm rotation which is essential for proper piano technique. It also demystifies wrong picture about fingers, wrists, shoulders. In simple words it's a musthavebook.If there is a BODYMAPING course in area where i live, i would already be on that piano class.

Update, I have just finished the book. All pianists should have this book. I am anxious when they release DVD Video related to this book. There is a VHS version for purchase but i'll probably wait for digital one.

This book contains a great deal of useful information for all kinds of pianists so the name is actually quite apropiate : What every pianist needs to know about the body. And that's exactly what it is. Unfortunately I discovered this book late, but fortunately, not too late; I've just recovered from a injury that's kept me away for over half a year from playing my beloved instrument. Now I know what I did wrong, and also how to correct it. I'm not saying I'm already done, I will need some rereads of the book. Taking in the process some notes to apply to my daily playing. It won't be easy but it will surely be worth it. I reccomend this book to everyone interested in not just recovering from injury, but also to everyone interested in improving their technique.

I am a 17-year-old pianist from New Jersey. I am almost finished with reading this book, and I found this book very useful for mapping my body and applying it to my own playing. This book is not just for pianists, but every musicians. You will be satisfied, and this book will make your playing easier, freer, and more expressive. You will enjoy reading this book. This book will lead you to better playing and you will be aware of your body movements. This is a very well-written book that deserves not just 5 stars, but maybe 10 stars! A wonderful guide.

I'm seeking a way to return safely to piano after recovering from bi-lateral tendonitis. Several approaches stand out: Taubman Institute, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, and body mapping. I want an approach that is safe and effective, specific to piano, and economical (everything else being equal). Mark's book is my first purchase: the book is piano-specific, exceedingly cheap relative to the full $800.00 Taubman 10 DVD set, and sufficiently packed with accurate anatomy to impress my occupational therapist (hand specialist w/ Ph.D.). So far, so good . . .

Now for the fine print: the book is 90% anatomy, not piano playing. There are isolated pointers based on anatomical facts, but the emphasis is, "Musician, heal thyself." The methodology is for the musician to learn their body, listen to their body, trust their body, obey their body. I'm looking for a recipe book (it is safe and effective to play scales like this, arpeggios like this, reach with your thumb like this, . . .), not a book about how to grow my own ingredients.

This book has merit and value, and I'm glad I bought it, but it is not enough by itself to get me back in the saddle. Looks like I have some Taubman videos in my future.

Judy Eron wrote the most courageous life and love story I've ever experienced. I feel like she became my friend right away as she validated every emotion I felt in dealing with my prior husband's depression and potential suicide. I do not know how she could feel both the extremes of love and fear, remain respectful of Jim, and yet tell the story of their painful end. I pray that society will learn to embrace mental illness the way that Judy and Jim did as professionals, and yet help others find the courage to be human in our failures, all the while loving those who are mentally ill with the same gusto as Judy loves. This book is a must read for society as we all experience mental illness in one form or another!

Very beneficial for those who deal with bipolar. Lets us know that what we deal with is "normal" for those dealing with the disorder.

The author tells the story of her husband's year-long manic episode and finally his depression and suicide. She tells us of the agony of their separation, her thoughts and feelings at the time, the decisions she made and why she made them. With the benefit of hindsight she points out errors and how she might have handled things better. She tells a moving story in a well written and very readable way, illustrated with notes from her journal. Those caring for a loved one with bipolar disorder will find comfort in this book, assurance that they are not alone, and practical suggestions for how to maintain their own sanity while helping their loved one.

This open and sharing book "What Goes up ... Surviving the Manic Episode of a Loved One", is a brave offering that should be read by anyone who cares for any of these poor souls; we all need any help we can get; they need even more.

This is a very well written story of one couple's struggle with bipolar illness that is compared and contrasted with other examples as the author tries to make sense of the madness or at least find out how to best deal with it.

I can (personally) only add that every case and every episode (up or down) is unique and nothing is certain until it's too late but as long as there is life there is hope.

Even after thirty years with a bipolar relative, I still learned many things from this book. I highly recommend it for every person who has loved one who suffers from this illness. But, do not stop there, because there are risks of overmedication and differences with the change of life that women go through that can bring out other aspects of the illness.

I have not listed many details from this book because if you need to read it, then you need to read it all; and more.

I bought this book for some friends, a long-time married couple who have dealt with bipolar disorder for many years. After giving it a favorable review, they loaned it back to me. I was eager to read it, hoping it would help me understand what they've been going through.

Well, what a nightmare. For me, the most terrifying thing about this story is that the author and her husband were both mental health professionals! If _they_ didn't know what to do, how in the world would the rest of us be able to recognize or deal with someone going through this?!

There's no happy ending or quick fixes here, but Eron helps us understand a manic person's distorted way of thinking, how it's important not to get drawn into that person's (paranoid) delusions, and what strategies may or may not be helpful. For example, I was surprised that an "intervention," which would have seemed an obvious choice to me, in fact only fed her husband's anger and paranoia and pushed him farther away from accepting help.

I used to think that manic meant really happy. Now, sadly, I know better.

This is GREAT! Well, done! Brava!!!

I wish I had read this book earlier, for many reasons! One, because it will make a fabulous gift for my friends, mom, aunts, etc. And also because it has some really practical advice for dilemmas I have found myself in! I definitely recommend this book, for yourself or as a gift for the women in your life!

This is such a fun book. The author basically tells us how to do stuff without being boring and its one how to book that I'm planning on keeping. This is a great book for anyone. I highly recommend it.

This book is a perfect college graduation gift, or for a friend just moving into her first apartment or house, and/or your mom. It's one of those books that should be left out for frequent browsing. The writing is fun, the topics are useful. Ladies who've read this book will seem to be more clever than their friends, which is always fun.

It is an incredible book, and more people should know about it and purchase it! The colors in the book are so crisp and clear. It makes faith come alive! It shipped very quickly and came in perfect condition.

After I received my initial order and flipped the pages and read them, I realized that the contents were awesome and very easy to follow so I order 3 more copies as presents for my daughters. They are delighted with the book. I recomend this book for all followers of Jesus, as you graphically get to see and read about the places he must have been when he was with us on earth.

In reading the Bible, I find it hard to invision the various places mentioned. This book is wonderful and it is such an inspiration--it makes me feel like I am walking the footpaths as people in the bible. The photographs are absolutely beautiful. I can't find the appropriate
words to explain just how much this book means to me and how it has given me insight to where bible history took place. The words of the Bible now
have pictures.

The book - Where Jesus Walked - is very nice. The pictures, of course, are lovely. I kept the book even though it really wasn't what I thought I had ordered. I had mistaken this book for another larger one.

The book is brilliant - the photography superb and very sensitive. It is inspiring to see many of the places as Jesus would have seen them. I had seen the book before and searched online to get a copy for a friend and was very happy with the process and delivery via Amazon.

WomenHeart's All Heart Family Cookbook

After my husband had triple pass surgery I wanted to start cooking "heart healthy", so I purchased this cookbook...and I am so glad I did. I use it everyday and have not found a recipe that isn't delicious and easy. I highly recommend it to everyone!

This cookbook contains so much good information about heart healthy foods-I learned a lot! And the recipes are wonderful. You will love this book whether you are trying to eat healthy, lose weight, or just enjoy a good meal. I plan to buy copies for Mother's Day and holiday gifts.

I've been living with heart disease for 11 years now. Changing my eating habits has been the hardest lifestyle change for me. This cookbook has some great receipes with simple ingredients that I plan to use often. The photos make my mouth water!

A friend gave me this book and it is just fabulous. The receipes are wonderful - love the Tandoori Chicken and Cilantro Broiled Chicken Breasts, Flourless Choc. Cake, Rich Tomato Soup and Beef Tenderloin with Port Cranberry Sauce, ---BUT--- it is the precise, clear, beautifully written and presented discussion of the 40 heart healthy foods that brings me to open this book several times a week. It is just such a valuable source of nutritional information. This book is not just for those who have heart disease (I, thank goodness, do not), but for every person who is alive in the 21st century and trying to eat a healthy diet.

Both of my parents have undergone bypass surgery within the past 8 months. It has been very intimidating to read all the information of how to prevent heart disease, especially having to relay the information to my parents. I came across this book last week and love it. Coming from a family that loves to ask questions this book has a lot of answers. I love that the first part of this book thoroughly explains heart disease, prevention, and how certain foods can be beneficial to your heart. It was also a great idea to list the recipes (w/ page numbers) at the end of each 'Heart Healthy Food' description. This book is well organized and makes cooking their recipes along with other heart healthy recipes more attainable.

Very unfortunately, the public at large too often misses out on opportunities to delve more deeply into something with which they are not familiar--in this case, I am talking about videogames. Many people have the idea that games are just about "Mario" or, at the other end of the spectrum, violence and shooting. Having said that, should you ever feel obliged to convince a friend or relative otherwise, to show them that games can be utterly remarkable and intricate works of art and creative thought, look no further than this book!

Conceived in large part by the duo of Kaori Tanaka (illustrator, designer, video game story writer) and Tetsuya Takahashi (director), the story affiliated with Xenogears is truly epic, not only in its ambitious scope, but also because of the utter attention to detail. Perusing this rare book does some part to portray the grandiose vision that these creative minds had. Indeed, I am beginning to understand why Squaresoft (as it was then called) seemed rather reluctant to further develop on this series; while Xeno's following is not as large as that of Final Fantasy, it is easily apparent that the amount of effort and resources needed to do this saga justice could easily rival that of the more popular Final Fantasy franchise. It is a shame we have not been granted the experience of another game in the Xenogears storyline; to this day, I still imagine what those games must feel like.

This is quite possibly the most INCREDIBLE Japanese artbook that I own. (And that is saying something; I own QUITE a few)

First off, if you love Xenogears, this book is an absolute MUST-HAVE. Every inch, every *millimeter* of the game is covered in this book. Take note that even though it IS in Japanese text, it is also a very beautiful thick artbook with EVERY official Xenogears artwork ever released between it's covers. All of the origins of everything about Xenogears is in this book, including explanations of the connections between all of the characters, the history and structure of different creatures, places, etc. Even if you know absolutely NO Japanese, buy this book. You won't be disappointed.

Oh yeah, there ARE some translations available online of various parts of the book. :)

This book contains anything and everything you'd ever want to know about Xenogears - from early character sketches to social structure to science to history to geography to thorough and complete background on the characters - ALL of them, meaning, everyone with a portrait.

Xenogears, despite being phenomenally complex for its medium, is a MASSIVE story squashed into a single rpg, and if you know the -true- complexity of the plot and their world, that becomes all the more apparent. So much about the characters and world/universal history were left out. For example, the game never mentioned how Yui and Citan met (which may sound frivolous, but it certainly is not), never told of Citan's brothers and parents, never got past stating one or two facts about Sigurd's past, did not go into Krelian's life before the war at all (did you know that he was originally supposed to assassinate Sophia back in their homeland of Nimrod, but seeing that she was then just a child, he took pity on her and didn't do it?)...really, I could go on for a while, and not just about the individuals we all know and love. PERFECT WORKS contains all this information and more. The text is completely in Japanese - but if you cannot read the language, translations are not too difficult to find online.

The single downside of such a treasure is that the spine is incredibly weak for a book of its size. A page out of mine is loose already, and I barely look at it as it is, in order to preserve it. Do not scan images out of it unless you have another copy, because you will certainly ruin it. You may want to invest in two so that you can have one to continuously look at and one to display.

PERFECT WORKS may become irrelevant in terms of content with the release of Xenosaga, as the new rpg is the starting point of a retelling of the Xenogears tale. However, that makes this book no less valuable, both for sentimentality and as an original. This is something no Xenogears admirer should be without.

With over 30 years of IC pain, I was tolerating only water and green beans until I read this book. The author, an IC sufferer and doctor, includes a wealth of suggestions which I immediately was easily able to incorporate into my diet and life style. Yes, the foods IC sufferers cannot tolerate are listed in her book which I found very helpful!

As a high school teacher and a mother of a medical doctor, the knowledge I acquired in this book led me to a FOOD SUPPLEMENT which has STOPPED my IC pain-it's been over 8 years that I have been taking this, not to mention no more neck and back pain, severe menstrual pain, a decrease in allergies, a clearer complexion, etc. YES! - A miracle food supplement for me! Prior to the discovery of this food supplement, my urologist offered an option of removing my bladder and wearing an external bag! I was about to give up teaching because I felt like a zombie from the IC pain that awakened me every hour during the night, let alone, all the trips to the lavatory in between every high school class period! I suffered from recurrent bladder infections and the excrutiating symptoms even without the presence of bacterial infection for many years. I had massive long term antibiotic therapy, surgical procedures and saw several urologists - all without relief. My mother gave me this book in 1988 and I am so grateful to her and to Dr. Gillespie. This book changed my life! I now understand my condition and can manage it. Many doctors are unaware of IC or believe it to be very rare (it's not as rare as they think!). I still get 1-2 infections a year, but that is heaven compared to what I used to suffer. I can't recommed this book highly enough!

I came across this book 10 years ago at a seminar and have been giving it to patients ever since. It is very well-written especially for the layman, providing numerous things to think about it in the face of chronic bladder problems. Being a chiropractor, I also found it fascinating that Dr. Gillespie basically spells out the whole theory behind chiropractic care when she cites that the number one cause of bladder and prostate problems is low back problems! Using diagrams she shows how the nerves enamating from the lumbar spine enervate these areas of the body. Though she doesn't mention chiropractic care in her book, I had to laugh when I saw that she had, however unwittingly, totally validated the science and theory of Chiropractic care. Whatever the underlying cause of your bladder problem, you are likely to find some help with this book.

This is a ground-breaking book written by a doctor who truly understands both bacterial and interstitial cystitis. Before the 1st edition of this book, the medical world was virtually silent on the subject, telling women it was all in their heads! Dr. Gillespie shows a deep understanding of the all-too-common and frequently mis-treated and/or over-medicated cystitis (urinary tract infection). Further, Dr. Gillespie virtually forced the medical world to learn about interstitial cystitis (IC) and to begin research into more humane and effective methods of treating it. Dr. G is a personal hero for me. Her book has provided guidance in my dealings with IC,where unfortunately most doctors still don't know what IC is. This book can help the patient to make decisions about treatments that can affect their body for many years to come. This book has helped me to minimize the occurrence of bacterial cystitis. And while my IC is incurable, this book has provided insight and helpful methods to make the condition less debilitating. Thanks for this ground-breaking book!!!

While the book does validate IC-which 10 years ago was relatively unknown, the treatments will not work for everyone. I believe everyone needs hope with this dreadful disease, and at a first pass, this book provides it. I must thank the doctor for that. I read the book, was a patient of the doctor, and followed the protocol for 2 years. ....
