I must say, I agree with previous reviews. This book was awful. The author's prose is overblown and extremely hard to read. I do NOT recommend this book.

I looked at Zhang's book for an article that I was writing on Fitzgerald (I am a professor of English). The book is basically unreadable; Zhang doe not write particularly well--nor does he have any noteworthy things to say. Skip.

This collection is huge disappontment. I would have been better off collecting these books for free from the Gutenberg Project. The font size changes in mid sentence, the type fades in and out, sections of text seem to be missing and works are presented without titles.

This collection might be very useful if it had a table of contents. As it doesn't, there is no way to find the individual books without either paging through or using the Kindle's search function. My advice: don't buy it.

Don't buy this book unless you want to pay a lot of money for just ONE STORY set in HUGE type. The publisher is clearly trying to cash in on possible interest in this story due to the upcoming Brad Pitt film. Fitzgerald wrote many wonderful short stories early in his career, most of which are collected in "Tales of the Jazz Age" and "Flappers and Philosophers." Buy one of these collections instead of this overpriced little book, if one could even call this thing a book. If you want just the story and a few others, a good book to buy would be the one published by Coyote Canyon Press, which includes a few other stories, like "The Jelly-Bean" and "Bernice Bobs Her Hair."

This book tells you almost nothing about Hemingway and Fitzgerald's work that hasn't already been said. It simply takes well known ideas and repackages them with fancy sounding philosophical language and references. Also, the writing style never develops toward any substantial conclusions. It just rambles.

F. Scott Fitzgerald is unique among the great American writers in that his most famous works examine the lives of the wealthy elite. This book looks at the Hollywood set of the 1930's, when sound was becoming an integral part of movies, but color was still beyond the horizon. The movie business is big enough and profitable to be respectable and even appealing in the public eye, but also enough to spawn rivalries and politicking among and within the major studios. It is this seamy, backstabbing side of Hollywood examined here. Again, many of the characters have major flaws that make the reader go "what is he thinking". Alcohol, jealousy, and envy drive this book, making it quit similar to the other works by Fitzgerald. I did not enjoy this book, and found it quite boring. I would not recommend it to anyone.
