After receiving this book, i instantly loved it, the collection of quotes ranges from historical figures to proverbs, all with a poignant inspirational statement. Helpful in speach writing, papers, and tidbits for friends.

I picked this book up quite by chance looking for a little birthday gift for a friend. As I browsed through the pages I knew this was a gift that she could refer to all year. After buying it, I found myself reading through the whole thing and wishing I had a copy for myself.

With it's wit and wisdon it will make you smile and appreciate life just little bit more!

The editors have selected a small number of gems from among the many hanhagot--Hasidic spiritual instructions or practices--which are wonderful inspirations for dealing with everyday life. These is not a book of mysticism, or abstract spirituality. These short pieces (none of them more than a very short page in length) help us in dealing with real world situations. The selection and translation have clearly been done with the contemporary Western reader in mind. The addition of some hanhagot from two modern thinkers--Hillel Zeitlin and Art Green--is the crowning touch.
A wonderful little book for those of us looking for guidance from Jewish tradition in dealing with the vicissitudes of daily life.

FIVE STARS!!! (rating seems to be broken) - It is a shame that this book is temporarily out of print. It is a really wonderful read that keeps pointing you back to the loving and continual touches of God in our lives. There are many moments where it's obvious that God has intervened. There are probably multiplied more moments that pass without our recognition. God is good, all the time. Thankfulness is absolutely essential to our joy and the Father wants our joy to be full.

I love this book and whenever I can find more copies, I plan to pick them up and give them away. It would be an excellent study group or church bible study tool. Thank you for a winner, Brother Wright!!!

This is a great little devotional book that is small enough to fit easily in a shirt pocket or purse. Each of its 157 pages contains a quote accompanied by a Bible verse. The subjects are not limited to marriage alone, but also touch on other aspects of life and living under God's direction, including friendship, parenting, forgiveness, etc. A gem for every married couple or those contemplating marriage.

There are very good sayings to help little children who are growing to learn to respect their friends and themselves also regarding their identity in creation as individuals. It also teaches them to live in fear of the Supreme God they learn about in the verses and wisdom verses printed in the little book. It enhances respect for elders also. When I read it from a student who was sent that book as a gift, I wanted it every moment to be able to teach my children the bible in a more interesting way and illustrations given in there. They are quite interesting for young minds who cannot accomodate heavy and more deeper meanings of the Bible.

I'd had this book for several months before I picked it up and opened it during my daily quiet time one morning. Being a "Bible snob" I was very surprised that it ministered to me in a very real way. Since then, I've used it often, along with my Bible in my daily time of prayer and meditation. The scriptures that are selected are ones we've all heard and love and sometimes spend alot of time looking for. But, open the book, and here they all are. It is one of my favorites now. I plan to give copies of this little book as Easter gifts to my women friends.

Any time we can put the bible in the kids hands makes me happy. Our middle school youth group kids have really enjoyed getting these.

Reading this book obviously cannot replace the importance of reading your bible, but this book definitely can supplement your daily devotional bible reading/study. When you need to find what does the bible speak about one particular topic, this book can guide you through with its bible verses related to the topic you are looking for. I highly recommend this book if you want to be ready in-season and out-season in your life to be able to explain your faith to people who ask you.

This is such a blessing of a book! I originally bought it for a friend of mine who was getting married, and upon flipping through it at the store, had to buy myself a copy as well. It has great Biblical quotes for real issues that everyone struggles with. It has anger, stress, love, friendship, health, etc. There are tons of topics. It is definitely a book to own and read often. It's like taking a strong Christian's old Bible and only reading the highlighted spots that really touched their lives. Buy it, darlings.
