A Great Bathroom Reader

I enjoyed this book, but then I also enjoy great quotes. This is a perfect companion when you just have a few minutes to read. You can pick it up, turn to almost any page, and find something of use. I write a couple quotes down and stick them on my computer for the week. I find I often remember them long after they have been in the trash.

This is a treasure!

One of the aspects of a good leader is the ability to articulate powerful ideas through powerful words. As a college speech instructor, I am always looking for books which collect memorable and inspirational quotations --- and this book does just that. I was impressed with the emphasis on contemporary leaders and the fact that this book is not a just a re-hash of the quotations we all have from other books. It is easy to read and truly a bargain!

The Lessons At The Fence Post series has inspired thousands around the world. Seeing first hand how it has drastically changed peoples lives has given a great appreciation for the GOOD people in this dishonest world we live in. I believe the single most moving quote in this book is "The difference between enabled and disabled employees is their leader or lack thereof." Wow! Paul D. Cummings must be the best CEO and author who ever lived! Living, Loving and working, three grand prizes in life that many can NEVER find!

I am an author and a poet and have really enjoyed reading this book. It is very inspirational. This book is filled with great thoughts for the mind, and is very encouraging for growth. Anyone will benefit from reading the words on the pages of this book. The erasing of negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones is very uplifting. Some of the thoughts are guide notes to diffusing potential spark points and maintaining tranquility. This is an easy book to read and digest. I have read it several times and recommend it for reading.

Let me tell you, this is some kind of great book. You think you've heard it all about sex. But I've never read a collection of quotes on the subject that was so funny and thoughtful. The way the quotes are ordered and the layout are also excellent.

I was lucky enough to know Father Lavin personally. He was my high school art teacher and had a profound impact on me. The advice he offers here would be hard to take if you did not know how long and hard he fought for the inspiration. He was a man of hidden depths and you can enjoy them here.

Making sense of Life

Review Date: 2000-10-27
"Life Meditations" by Edward J Lavin SJ is a delightful book that will appeal to all those people who try to make sense of their life experiences. Father Lavin combines a down-to-earth style of writing with the use of carefully chosen pictures to produce a series of reflections that speak to the heart. In each case the picture helps to reinforce the reflection. The pictures selected by Father Lavin are all prints of known and loved works of art, and so their aesthetic appeal is to a wide range of tastes. "Life Meditations" is a book well worth reading, but it needs to be read slowly with time allowed for reflection. It is the sort of book that can be a companion through life.

I have to rebuy this book, it is wonderful!

I bought this books once. It is a lovely design book with a hardcover and bookjacket. This is the second book which was revised and upgraded by J. Brown. The book bears the same tittle the first one did:"Life's little Instruction Book" , which was meant for his son in college. Somehow, it became a bestseller. Now he come up with more words of wisdom, he offer us volume 2. There are so much incouraging and practical sentences in the book which I found them tremendously helpful for anybody who are willing to practice them. I am sure you will want to read them everyday, if you want to be a better person. I gave my first one to a friend. She loved it. Now I feel I need to buy another copy for myself. I highly recommend this one to anybody. PS. They have another book tittle "The Complete life's little instruction book". I don't know if it is the combination of the two. If it is, I think you should order it instead of this one. One more thing, this version is the nicest lookin one I found in store. Don't go for the paper back version although they are at half the price of this hardcover.

More great advice!

Several years ago, my brother gave me LIFE'S LITTLE
INSTRUCTION BOOK by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. . . . it contained
fatherly advice that the author gave to his son, Adam, before he
left for school . . . I loved it; so much so, in fact, that I gave a copy to my daughter before she began college.

Volume II came out sometime thereafter, but I've only managed
to track it down within the last few weeks . . . and am I glad
that I did . . . although none of the advice is particularly

earth-shattering, virtually all of it makes sense.

I found myself reading each idea once, then revisiting it
a second and sometimes even a third time as its wisdom
hit home . . . there were many memorable bits of advice;
to cite just a few:

Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt, but it's the
only way to live life completely.
Create a little signal only your wife knows so that you can show her you love her across the room.
Remember that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves
something, and has lost something.
Remember that just the moment you say, "I give up," someone else seeing the same situation is saying, "My, what a great opportunity."
When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
Don't marry a woman who picks at her food.
Never miss a chance to dance with your wife.
Ask yourself if you would feel comfortable giving your two best
friends a key to your house. If not, look for some new best friends.
Take the stairs when it's four flights of less.
When talking to your doctor, don't let him or her interrupt or end the session early. It's your body and your money. Stay until al your questions are answered to your satisfaction.

I cannot remember of a better book of photographs about Paris. This small book is a gem. Black & white pictures add to the famous artists quotes a wonderful perspective. You can also consider that these quotes add deepness and universality to the innovative approach of Paris caught by the photograph. Even if the photographs went after the writing of the quotes you could reasonably consider the quotes were made after the photographs. In short, buy this book, don't bring it with you in Paris. It would be useless. Offer it to the one you love (either a kid of a grand-ma) after you brought him or her to Paris.

If you love Paris, this book is a must.

Paris is a city of many moods. Mr. Kraft captures the moods of this great city with his stunning photography combined with compelling literary quotations.

This book allows you to walk the streets of Paris and see the sights through the eyes of one who obviously has a great love of the culture. The literary quotations (some very well known, others more obscure)provide an unexpected richness to Kraft's body of work.

I recommend this book to anyone who has been to Paris or hopes to one day. Even if you've never thought of visiting "The City of Light", this lovely book will have you yearning to book the next flight out.

This book is a very cute way to tell your sweetheart how much you care. As long as you have the right sense of humor, you and your significant won't be able to help but laugh and smile at the cheesy pictures and captions. I enjoyed this book so much that I ended up buying 2 copies so that I could keep one for myself!

When I read this book my stress level went higher than ever. My blood pressure almost took off! The lift was really worthwhile. I have now taken to nail-biting and stomping with a view to head banging! What a hit! The Little Book of Stress is such a hoot that owls will need to take up laughing. Who needs relaxation classes when your nerves can be twanged to the tune of the William Tell Overture. In short "Don't Panic" just read this book and tear your hair out. You owe it to yourself
