Hi, I am Glenn Liebman and I am the author so I am hardly unbiased. I loved putting Grand Slams together. Over one thousands of baseball's greatest and meanest quotes. Some of my favorites include Casey Stengel talking about star pitcher and party animal Don Larsen who wrapped his car around a telephone poll at 5 am. during spring training. Casey said, "He was either out pretty late or up pretty early." Pitcher Dennis Lamp once said of outfielder Luis Polonia's defensive abilities--"If you hit Polonia 100 fly balls, you could make a movie out of it--Catch 22. Got to love the work ethic of hall of famer Hack Wilson who said about playing drunk--"I have never played drunk. Hungover, yes, but never drunk."

let's face it, this is a great gift for guys who love baseball. it's got quotes from the older players that are part of history (like yogi berra, babe ruth, joe torre), stuff that makes you think about the game and quotes that will just make your hair stand up on end (i.e. john rocker)... I'm buying 2 copies as gifts for father's day.

Grandfathers are probably more like gold to the grandkids than any other relative, because as Janet has so profoundly put it and found others to feel the same way, Grandfathers are many people all in one body. They give to their grandchildren far more than they would ever imagine, be it knowingly so or not. Janet knows how to dig out all of it, and because Grandfathers are sometimes by choice rather than by blood line, I have given this book to several men for Father's Day because they are - in heart - the grandfather's of the world.

Janet brings both humor and empathy to the people she writes about, and this is what life is all about. Janet herself has been both Grandmother and Grandfather to her grandchildren, as have a lot of us have been, and it makes all the difference in the world to our grandkids.

This book was written for the modern, active grandfather. The stories and poems by actual grandfathers brought tears to my eyes. I loved it! I bought two for my children's gradads.

This book is terrific. I post a different quotation from it every day right beside the time clock where my employees will see it as they punch their time cards.

I have also used quotations in speeches that I have written for sales presentations.

Over a thousand ways to say the things you wanted to say but didn't know quite how to say them. I've always struggled with finding the right words for the right occasion. This book makes it easy. Guaranteed to make you think. A must for all quotation lovers.

This work has a great amount of valuable material. But it is not my favorite quotation book, perhaps because I sense in it a political view different from my own. But I also feel it is not quite on the intellectual level of Baron's pioneering work. And this said by a reader who admittedly has tasted only samples here and there of the work and not read it all.

This is a great book that I will treasure for years and years to come. The great thoughts of the ages wonderfully compiled by a very wise man. From Ghandi and Wordsworth to Christ and Thoreau. WOW!

Excellent resource. I collect quotes and there are a lot to save in this book.

Couldn't find this one on the shelves of 5 national booksellers in my area... and only two could order within several weeks to a month. If you find a hard copy, grab it - great coffee table book.

In do research for publicizing Mar 00 Women's History Month activities, someone let me borrow their copy of this book because I like to add quotes to my work and in program scripts. I was delightfully impressed to find quotes completely by women... not necessarily just about women (some of those are not flattering).

32 varied women are portrayed with a brief biography and quotes by them. Interspersed are loads of quotes from numerous women from all walks of life on diverse subjects.

If quotes, inspiration, humor is what you are looking for, you will be happy with this. It is what you would expect by the title and good to look through every so often. Not one that you would read front to back but to have around, flip to a couple of pages, read and put down until next time.

This book is classic Zig. Inspiring! It is the perfect companion to keep with you on your desk or in your briefcase.

Today I picked up my copy of this book, one of my favorites. I so wish that someone would re-publish this, so that so many more of us could have our own copies. We need this book as much today as we did when it was first printed.

The book is tiny, "easy," but very insightful. Ali and Hauser have compiled a wonderful collection of quotes on the subject of tolerance and understanding. Two of my many favorites:

"You lose a lot of time hating people." (Marian Anderson, p. 41)

"If it be an evil to judge rashly or untruly any single man, how much greater a sin it is to condemn a whole people." (William Penn, p. 23.)

I was part of the first group of people who saw this book before it's release. Muhammad Ali came to my high school to promote cultural, and racial unity. This book helped young teenagers such as myself that the world should not be filled with hate. Healing helped my school heal, with it's powerful knowledge.

In the ongoing quest to understand myself and others, I often look for insight. Heart of a Woman is a treasure trove of inspirational insights into the hearts of women as they, and as men who love them, tell it. Sheryl Roush has compiled a wonderful resource that just makes you feel good for having picked it up and read an entry or two.

This is a beautiful compilation of treasured stories.

This book explains Islam from a religious point of view, without cultural bias.
The writer is clearly not a Muslim but has a great deal of respect for all religions.

Guide book gives a brief uncluttered history of Islam and it's philosophy. Cards are great for spiritual exercise and discussion. A wonderful introduction for someone new to the concept of Islam (surrender) or a nice learning tool for someone seeking spiritual guidence. Learn about the REAL Jihad that everyone struggles with. This is the Islam of God, Compassion and Love, not 911.
