Delightful book!

I didn't realize Dick Van Dyke was such a marvelous Christian himself. This book has countless religious stories and quips from children that are a real treasure. Dick has done a wonderful job putting them all together with the skill of an excellent writer so that you don't want to put the book down until you've finished it.

How could a child's view of God be any less than 5 stars!

This book contains short stories and comments by children of different religious backgrounds who believe God can do anything. They approach the concept of God with a natural child-like faith, believing that God hears and answers their prayers, even when they ask for a puppy, and they get a kitten, instead. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Everything about it will uplift your soul. This book is for anyone who needs a good laugh during their trials and tribulations. The children took a complicated God and made Him simple to understand. The author, Dick Van Dyke, may have written this book 30 years ago, but the comments in the Forward and the opening paragraphs to each new chapter still stand today. The book lets us know that it's not a corporate religion we should seek, but an individual, personal relationship with our Creator (as seen through the minds, eyes and tongues of children).

This is one of the greatest books I've ever read. I found it in my father's house while visiting with he and his wife in South Carolina. When I began to read it, I couldn't stop. I got on Amazon to see if it was sold anymore and am greatly relieved to find it is as I do not want to deprive one household of a copy so that another may enjoy it. I absolutely adore this book. It is such a treasure of simplicity and heartwarming humor, "the things that kids will say" and the belly-laughs you'll get from them. I truly wish that this book would be republished and marketed as a bestseller because it deserves not only that kind of review and publication, it would be good for our fragile, frightened world to benefit from the grace and humor of childrens' perspectives of God. I have literally wept, interrupted my father's evening review of his crossword puzzles (a dangerous thing in this household), and called friends of mine who are at home in Colorado wondering why I am calling them while I'm on vacation to share quips and quotes from this work. It doesn't matter if you're a Christian or not, if you're a member of a different faith, even an opposing faith, this is one of those intergenerational, international, interreligious, totally universally applicable works that only comes along once in a blue mooon. I am so grateful that I found this book, and I hope others come to know, love, and embrace it as well.

I don't care what kind of advice you're looking for -- whether you're trying to fix a romance, a summer job, or a problem at school -- this book has got something helpful to say. Carol Weston herself is terrific -- practical and funny -- but the book also insludes quotes and advice from a lot of other people, too -- famous writers, artists, thinkers. It's a lot better than just hearing your best friend, for the tenth time, tell you the same old things. A definite recommend!

I LOVE this book!

FOR TEENS ONLY is so good!... Whenever I get depressed or frustrated, I read a few pages and start feeling better. I guess that's because she seems like a real person (well, obviously she is) and because all the quotes seem to be talking right to me. My brother has been reading it too and he doesn't usually read books like this. But her advice make sense and isn't preachy. It's funny and inspiring. I recommend this book to all middle school and high school students. It REALLY explains everything, from how to tell if your crush likes you to when to use "it's" and "its"(which I now finally get)! And if you ever need a quote for a yearbook or paper, it has 580! FOR TEENS ONLY IS A GREAT BOOK!! FIVE STARS AT LEAST!...

Ideal for Guys and Girls

I heard Carol Weston speak a few years ago and a father in the audience
asked, "Why don't you write a book for guys?" So it was great to realize that she
did it and I like this book as much as For Girls Only and Girltalk. It's got
her signature great advice and more quotes than ever.

This is a great book to learn news ways to nurture and value your marriage on a daily basis! A lot of fun, joy, humor, insight in these daily reflections...a worthwhile book to have at your disposal in any relationship. I enjoy reading a page a night...quick, easy, yet much to think about and reflect upon. No one ever teaches us "how" to be married...Toni Poynter gives us insights on how to approach marriage with grace, humor, love...without being preachy, weird or fanatical. Great nightstand book...I will have this for life...re-reading passages throughout the years as reminders of how to live a happier marriage and self.

The Must Have Book For All Baseball Fans

I can not emphasize enough how enjoyable "The Gigantic Book of BAseball Quotations" is. This book is the perfect gift for Dad on Father's Day or any other day, for the Little Leaguer or for any lover of the great American pastime.

The "Gigantic Book of Baseball Quotations" contains quite literally thousand of quotes (over 3,000) from the players, coaches, sportswriters and game announcers to the fans themselves.

The various chapters include "Stars and Superstars", Hitters and Hitting", "Pitchers and Pitching", "The Media", "Humor", "The Classic Quotes" and "The World Series" to name a few. There is also an entire chapter devoted to quotations by and about Babe Ruth.

The quotes range over the entire history of the game from the description of Honus Wagner "He walks like a crab, fields like an octopus and hits like the devil" to Jason Giambi's observation that "the hardest part of any slump is looking up at the scoreboard and seeing your stats in huge numbers"; to lines from fans such as Humphrey Bogart "A hot dog at the ballpark is better than a steak at the Ritz".

There is a detailed list of sources as well as a complete list of all the people quoted. At more than 750 pages for a list price of $24.95 you will not find a better value for your dollar anywhere.

Who doesn't love America's past-time? We go to games, talk about it with our friends, agonize, and form fierce loyalties, all over this game. This book is such a great collection of musings on the great sport of baseball. Cal Ripken, Jr, Hank Aaron, Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, Ken Griffey, Jr., all of baseball's greats pitch in their thoughts on the sport that brings this country together.

I LOVE baseball...it's history and the characters that have come along with the sport. This book is a GREAT collection of quotes from all aspects of baseball...players, owners, umpires, legends.....you will just chuckle thru much of this book. I like to include baseball words of wisdom in my emails, at baseball gatherings, on my business cards...and this book gives me a great list to choose from. Great for baseball trivia games with fellow baseball fanatics. It is the most comprehensive collection I have ever seen in print. A MUST read!!

I was given a copy of this book in a chaplain's office and I was pleasantly surprised by the wisdom provided from these daily readings. For example, "...when we risk the first step toward our dreams, the next step will become clear, then the next, and the next- as if light begins to illumine our way ~ From Captain Picard: A Matter of Time: 45350." This is a positive step in the right direction and affirms some of the readings I have gained from such books including "The Secret of Letting Go" by Guy Finley and some of the works of Anthony Robbins and Dennis Waitley.

I am a Star Trek fan, and bought this book as a lark. I have been delighted to find that it is a well written, thought provoking guide for daily meditation. The daily thought starts with a Star Trek quotation, then integrates elements from many different facets of spirituality and self growth. An excellent way to start the day.

A "Must Read" for thoughtful "travelers" and Trekkers alike.

I found this book filled with the kind of character building contemplations which make the application of "right actions" possible in our daily lives. A complimentary volume to Roberts and Ross' "Make It So". the author employes quotes from "Star Trek" episodes as insightful launching points for consideration of many of life's deeper questions. Presented in a format of daily meditations, it makes easy and thought provoking reading. Enjoy "the Journey"!
