I'm the mother of an 8-year old daughter diagnosed with OCD. This book opened up new doors for us in treating this disorder. It has been perfect for her, and she actually wants to sit down with me to read it. I believe that giving her obsessions/rituals an actual name and introducing her to a child who struggles with similar issues is a major step in our road to living triumphantly over OCD. I strongly recommend What to Do When your Child has Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder to go along with it--I ordered both and, along with my Bible, they have a home right next to my bed and already have worn pages!

We were told by a Doctor, who hadn't even met my son, that he thought my son may have OCD. He was referred to the Child Mental Health offices in our local town and there was a 14 month waiting list! I decided to see what I could do as a Parent and I bought this book. I left it on the table and my son picked it up and read it - his initial reaction was "do you think I have OCD", I replied by telling him that I was interested in the subject as I didn't want to label his condition. Since reading the book he has come along leaps and bounds and his teachers said there has been a remarkable improvement in his confidence and his anxiety has gone!

We got this book the weekend my kids were going to their grandparents. I read it on the way to their house and it captivated their attention, both of them (ages 3 & 5). They listened to every single word intently and quietly. They loved the story of the boy and riding his bike up and down the worry hill. It is quite long though and my voice got a litte sore reading aloud for so long. At the end of the book, my son asked, "mommy who's book is that?" and I said "It's yours". He asked if he could write in it. The pages are black and white pictures like a coloring book. I told him he could color the pictures but not to color over the words so that I would be able to keep reading it to them. Unfortunately at Nana & Papa's house there was an accident involving water and the book so only half the book made it back. The cover was torn off and everything. I was so mad! I will probably re-order the book just because he enjoyed it so much.

The book was OK but not great.

It was overly simplistic and not too meaninful for a teenager or parent. It really only skimmed one aspect of OCD, compulsion, and did not address at all the cause of the compulsion, obsessions.

May be more meaningful to younger children...

As a clinician specializing in the treatment of OCD, I highly recommend this book as a resource to clinicians and families with a child with OCD. I've used in in my practice and found it to be a wonderful resource. Clinicians can buy several copies and loan them out to their clients or recommend that their clients get this book.

Every parent should buy these books for their children. We bought the Fourth grade, second grade and Kindergarten and they are all fabulous. The kids find them very interesting and my husband and I even enjoy them. They are packed full of terrific information. Highly recommend. This is a book your child has to have.

I have been very pleased with this book. I love to get ideas out of it for our homeschool.

This is an excellent book. My husband and I read many passages for my son. He likes them very much. They enrich his mind tremendously. My son's school somehow does not provide this much content. We would miss a lot fine literature, history, and geography without this book. Thanks to the authors. I do see the math part is too easy for second graders nowadays. For practice, we use Beestar math and ELA (a wonderful web site www.beestar.org). Its free weekly exercises are about right and very helpful. Overall, this is an outstanding book loaded with fine content. I highly recommend it.

This series is very good to my kid. It covers not only literature and math, but science, art, history, etc as well. Both my kid and I like it very much.

When I bought this book from Amazon, I knew it was a steal! My daughter has already been helped so much by its stories, activities, and short biographies of famous people. I plan to eventually buy all of the books in the Core Curriculum series. They're just like vitamins and vegetables, they're good for kids!

My younger sister is 7 years old. When she started reading the book,outloud, I was interested. The book was a little bit hard for her,but she loved it. Later, I read it. It meant a lot to me and now it is one of me and my sister's favorite books.

after reading one page, you're hooked. makes you feel lucky to live in a home. children ages 8 to 18 will definitely enjoy this book. definitely best children's book material. frances o'roark dowell did an awesome job. i give it two thumbs up!

Where I'd Like To Be is a great book by Frances O'Roark Dowell. It is about a girl named Maddie who lives in an orphange and keeps to herself. She hardly tells anyone her secrets especially about her scrapbook of dreams. Her scrapbook contains magazine clippings of things she wishes she had like a big house, dogs,etc. One day her scrapbook is revealed.One of the boys at the orphange becomes friends with Maddie. Eventually she trusts him enough to tell him about the scrapbook and dreams. This is a heart-warming book that you should read. To find out what happens to Maddie read this book.

What if when you were a baby, a ghost saved your life? Well, according to Granny Lane, that's what happened to 11 year old Maddie. She longs for a family and a place to call home and feels that it's hopeless. After all, who adopts an 11 year old? But maybe it wasn't as hopeless as she thought.
Maddie may seem a normal kid to you, she goes to school, has great friends, is in after-school activities, but then you go to her home. She has shared a room with people who come and go as often, it seems, as the seasons. Maddie lives at the East Tennessee Children's Home. She wants a home so badly she has a "book of houses" and a "book of people." Throughout the book she and her friends find that they are all a family, a strange one, but a family none the less.
Where I'd Like To Be, is a book that all people should read for a heart warming tale. I think what I liked best is that you can almost feel each character's emotions as they change. I think anyone who likes a story that makes you glad for what you've got, should read this book.

Great book, especially for young girls in their search for self. This book surely must be based, at least in part, on some observations from East Tennessee Christian Home in Elizabethton, Tennessee because the author has cited several times East Tennessee Children's Home (where the novel is set), as well as Allen Avenue (the actual location of The Home), and Elizabethton, Tennessee (the city in which the novel is set). I certainly encourage young girls to read the book, as well as their parents. I think it will lead to more understanding on both sides.

Ours is a time when few scholars of the Islamic universe seem to grasp accurately the long-term repercussions of the aging modernist or newly emerging postmodernist era, to their faith as a whole and to each culture this faith has engendered and/or historically enriched. I bought this book when it first came out and sat down to read it the evening it arrived. Well, I ended up finishing the book that same night and have read it about 30 times since.
I've never seen any other book that can compare to this one, especially in the way it is presented.
However, recently I stumbled upon some lectures by Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki called "The Hereafter" and most of volume I talks about the the minor and major signs of the Day of Judgement. (Volume II goes even further). This series is also based solely on the Qur'an and the hadiths of the Prophet (pbuh). ...

Reading the events in the book it seems this is a Just In Time Book to warn and prepare people for the trying times that seem to be here already.

As the rest of the book unfolds I am attracted to and feel curious about the Prophet Muhammed. What does he look like? What kind of presence he has? How he inspired his people and continues to do so even now ... how much he cares for them as is obvious from this book. I wish I could meet him and thank him for all the signs he gave.

On reading this book I feel anxious and nervous as on approaching an important exam. I must admit that I am scared and NOT prepared for this one. I have little children (2 and 4 years), I am scared and worried for them. Then on page 289 I read "Daily Recitations for Protection from Tribulations", I gathered my children to me, we held hands and recited a little bit of each. This has now become an everyday ritual for us. My heart cries out to the Shaykh for help and guidance ....

This book could be subtitled 'A Guidebook for the End Times'. It will challenge and inspire you, shake you to your soul, and give you comfort. This could only be the result of the gift of true wisdom which, even if you didn't know Shaykh Hisham Kabbani's academic and spiritual training, you feel you can trust.
The Shaykh delves deeply into the Qur'an. Reading this book will give you a taste of real Islam as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught it. Compare the insights in this book to the prevalent fundamentalism of our times and you will see what Islam is missing today. This is Islam that the fundamentalist Wahhabis aggressively oppose and have all but destroyed in our time so that it has become extremely rare to hear this kind of wisdom, spirituality and knowledge coming from within the Islamic world.
"The Approach of Armageddon" begins with secrets of Qur'an and Hadith which were unknown at the time of the revelations, but are being 'discovered' in our own time. This is the book where science and spirituality meet. They not only meet, but expand the understanding of both. Sample chapters include: the origin of iron, the oceans which do not mix, the Big Bang theory, string theory and the ten-dimensional universe. And that's just for starters.
Then the Shaykh lays out the Signs of the Approach of the Last Days clearly and authoritatively from Bedouins who compete in constructing Tall Buildings, the contraction of Time, Scholars being replace by ignorant leaders to The Thirty Liars, The Anti-Christ, the Return of Jesus Christ, Gog and Magog. At the end of the book, Shaykh Kabbani gives the reader 'protective supplications and recitations'. I was very moved to read the review of this book by the woman with two young children who sits with them every day and reads these supplications. As a Muslim, I would highly recommend this book for both Muslims and non-Muslims......It is a rare gem in today's vast array of Islamic books.

This book takes place in a low class suburb in Detroit Michigan. It is about a boy named Hakeem who moves from California to Detroit because, his father is very sick and they cannot afford there house so, they come live with their uncle. Savon is Hakeems cousin. They were good friends when they were young but they have lost contact. We Hakeem got there he wonder why Savon was being mean to him. He also meets this girl next door who he thinks is pretty. He teaches her how to play guitar. It's a way for him to relive stress and have a fun time with her. Savon had been sneaking around came home late at night. So Uncle James asked him to find out what Savon was up to. There had been robberies almost every store on Main Street except his father furniture store. Then the real bad blood between the two begins. The ending is a shock. This is a fictional novel. I would recommend this book for any middle school student. This is the eighth book in the Bluford High series. The next book is Brothers in Arms. If you like big endings this book is for you.

I understand this is Ms. Elmore-Smith's first book. I am so impressed with the fact that she chose to do a descriptive narrative in her first novel. I applaud the author for deciding upon this type of format. In this novel she paints a world about our present day and fast-paced society offering the opportunity for success with career, romance and life in general. It is truly a great escape. I found a few areas that I could relate to; like being attracted to someone whom seemed already spoken for and still wanted to pursue them. There is some boldness to her writing and then again she applies finesse in developing each character. I had to read this novel in low-gear and when I reached the end there was a bit of a jolt-I never saw it coming-Chased was well worth my time and $20.00 Bucks-Another 5 Stars for the author.

Chased is a story that you can cheer for the characters, and it is easy for the reader to find themselves wanting to be in those
characters shoes. What man wouldn't want to be Durrell, tall, dark,handsome and hard working. What man couldn't resist a bright, beautiful and confident woman as Carmel?, a wonderful role model.
Why had I not read this book 2 years ago, it is fun and exciting and you can imagine yourself in the high powered settings of the story and the ambiance draws you in.
All in all, I would recommend this book to anyone, for enjoyable
reading. The characters are believable and I commend the author
on her writting style and format and looking forward to the next work from Henrietta Elmore-Smith.

Once you begin reading this novel it becomes apart of your persona. At least that's what happened to me. It is drama, humor, comedy, romance, serious business and more; it is worth paying for. I want to read more from this author. She has given new meaning to what fictional work is all about. I'll be waiting.

By reading the positive comments about CHASED I decided to read it myself and I am so glad I did. The interactions that the characters have is so intriguing. It is a work that is so well written and the author's main characters are so well portrayed; it's as if you were actually witnessing real-life situations. What an imagination she has and there are some phenomenally funny circumstances that erupt. Ms. Elmore-Smith has painted an upscale business world with unyielding energy.

She has integrity, spunk, drive, character, and courage, and she needs all of those qualities to keep up with the men who keep chasing her! What is particularly great about this book is that it has so many telling examples, which allows the reader to compare them with his or her own culture.
Reading this book has made me think a lot about the characteristics of the Danish culture (my culture). The qoute on the Germans "But how do we do this? I can't see that this can be done" - that is so Danish!
Such insight is very helpful, because knowing intellectually that your own culture is "a set of rituals and norms" as all other cultures is one thing, but actually being able to see the specific characteristics of your own culture is so much more!

This was a 9th Birthday present for my nephew. It kept him entertained for hours! He loved the book and still uses it almost daily after 8 months.

This book has many examples of step-by-step drawings. The only drawback might be that there is very little explanation. You learn mainly by copying the examples. It has a great selection of different cool cars and vehicles to draw. Equally good for young teens or adults.

I have the 1993 publication of this book, and it's amazing. It teaches you how to draw cars in general, not just the ones shown in the book.

I bought this book for myself as a 37th B-day gift and realized after all those years.... I can draw!!! : ) My wife swears I've taken art before but I haven't. After drawing 2 cars I used the techniques to draw a car out of another book and it looks good. I am my toughest critic and I like what I see. I bought 2 other books which cost more and they don't teach you half as much as what you learn with this book. I wish someone had given me this for my 9th B-day. Good luck.

This was an awesome book, I would highly reccomend it for all ladies once they have reached puberty. It is very informative and knowledgable in the female body and ejaculation!

This is a very interesting book. I have know about female ejaculation for 15 years now. I just love to help women get to this point in their sexual life. With my new girlfriend, I am not able to bring her to this type of orgasm yet, so I thought that this book might help. As soon as I received it, and showed it to her, she took it from me and is reading it right now. She said that she should practise on her own in the beginning, according to the book. She is not done with the book, but everything I've told her what happens and how to make it happen, was confirmed in the book. When I have her close to the ejaculation point, she cannot quite relax yet to let it happen. By the time she finishes the book, she'll be ready! It is just nice to be able to read and learn this valuable, exciting, fun, wet and sexy thing to do with/for your partner! Get it or you won't GET IT!

This is a great book for women and couples who really want to learn and understand how to please yourself and your partner sexually.
To say that I am pleased on what this book has done for me is an understatment!

When I first heard about female ejaculation I was a bit skeptical. Now I am a very satisfied believer. This book covers basic female anatomay and the different types of orgasms a woman experiences. She gives detailed instructions on how to stroke and achieve ejaculation. I wanted to surprise my husband and thought it would take some practice to be able to ejaculate. I was wrong. I followed her instructions and gushed in pure pleasure. I couldn't wait until he got home to show him. Needless to say it was a great night. He loves it when I squirt on him. It makes a great massage fluid.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to female ejaculate, or wanting to add a little spice to your love life.

Dr. Anderson's book is an excellent tool if you'd like to teach yourself aerodynamics and have the background in math to handle it (multivariable and vector calculus...get "Div, Grad, Curl, and All That" if you need a refresher). His derivations are very clear and his chapter maps provide a nice road guide to give you an idea of where you're going. This book is also very good at maintaining rigor in describing the limitations of the derivations, a necessary quality since a lot of us tend to forget that the results we see are only valid in certain circumstances (incompressible flow, irrotational flow, inviscid flow, etc.).

Very few downsides: a few typos and no answers to end-of-the-chapter problems.

Over 5 years as an aerospace engineer at Boeing and Lockheed Martin, I have used this book far more than any other for aeronautics. This is not only a good textbook, but an excellent reference, and one of the few technical books I have found worth reading cover-to-cover. Many engineers simply say "look at Anderson" to find whatever answers you need.

Fundamentals of Aerodynamics, by John D. Anderson, provides an excellent foundation in aerodynamics for engineers. Presented at the graduate or senior undergraduate level, this book covers all of the fundamentals in a student-friendly manner that also works well as a professional reference.

Dr. Anderson has quite a gift for placing information in appropriate contexts - both technically and historically. The book is well organized and promotes learning by laying a solid foundation and then building on that foundation. The sample problems presented through the chapters are clear and effective at illustrating important points.

Major topics include: Incompressible non-viscous flow, Compressible flow, and Viscous flow (including an introduction to boundary layers). Significant time is spent on potential flow theory and it's application to the prediction of lift and induced drag.

Also recommended for students of aeronautics are Dr. Anderson's other titles, including:

- Introduction to Flight

- Modern Compressible Flow with a Historical Perspective

- Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics

With no doubt this is the best Aerodynamics book for college students ever written...ever!Very clear explanations,full of examples and a good set of exercises to challenge your understanding of the subject. The only negative point is that there no answers to the problems.

"Fundamentals of Aerodynamics" is an excellent book by a knowledgeable author that provides the basic know-how and skills that an aeronautical engineer will find useful and helpful. The book is well written in a readable and easy to follow format that provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of aerodynamics. The author reinforced his message with numerous helpful examples and several illustrations which should help the reader to grasp the aerodynamics concepts and principles.
