I just finished reading this, and was thoroughly impressed. The Secret Agent is an absolutely cracking little thriller, with strong characterisation, good dialogue, a tight and slippery plot and a really satisfying action sequence to round things off. Strongly recommended!

Satan's Plot to Destroy Every Christian
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-02-02
Description from jacket:
This book came about as a result of the questions Howard received on this subject. In the years that he has traveled all over the world, Howard discovered an amazing lack of knowledge in the church concerning spiritual warfare. A large percentage of Christians seemed to be ignorant of the fact that they have been called to war! Furthermore, many people are totally ignorant of the invisible spirit realm, they don't even know that their enemy has a plan dedicated to each individual's destruction.

This book divulges Satan's plan to destroy the light of each Christian through the works of the flesh and shows how much the spirits really are involved in our every day lives.

A Hilarious, Touching Read!

Andrea Edwards is one author you can always count on for excellent books! SECRET AGENT GROOM is the second book in THE BRIDAL CIRCLE trilogy set in a small town in Indiana, and you'd be depriving yourself of many hours of great reading if you don't read all 3 books (and, in order, I'd suggest). The first book is titled IF ONLY I HAD A ... HUSBAND, and the third book is PREGNANT & PRACTICALLY MARRIED. But, back to SECRET AGENT GROOM...

This book focuses on mysterious Alex Waterstone and worrisome Heather Mahoney. Alex was the rebel and Heather the shy, nice girl when they were in high school. But, now they're adults and living next door to each other. Alex is an undercover agent (posing as an English professor) who is trying to crack a gambling ring in nearby Chicago. So, he's trying NOT to involve innocent-bystander Heather in his life and thereby put her in danger. However, he finds himself drawn to the caring woman who will run around their yards in her pajamas just to save stray cats, among other things she'll do to protect those around her. Why would a hardened secret agent find himself falling for a kindergarten teacher?

As every good romance novel does, this book equally shows what's going on in both the hero & heroine's minds. However, due to the length of this review, suffice it to say, Heather's character is also well-written, and you will be rooting for both of these very different-seeming characters to get together.

Again, you'll kick yourself if you don't read this trilogy in order, because each book is connected to the next, chronologically, and all of the characters are integral to each of the books. So, READ THESE WONDERFUL BOOKS BY ANDREA EDWARDS!

P.S. The background information about the area of northern Indiana that these books are set in is fantastic! You get a real feeling for this town and the people who all seem to know each other their whole lives. The Wizard of Oz festival that these books are set amidst is a real festival that takes place every year in Chesterton, Indiana. So, revel in all this interesting background info!

These books are an amazing series. They really provide a true spy series appropriate for young children. The "spies" are part of the GPF - Global Protection Force - an international spy ring devoted to promoting justice and made up entirely of kids. The books have great gadgets - this one features a Power Pogo Stick which allowed Jack, the protagonist, to leap 15 feet in the air and help him escape a hungry pack of hunting lions, the Flyboard (one of Jack's all time favorite gadgets) that helped him soar in the air after the bad guys and a Lava Laser that when pointed at a piece of metal, made the metal so hot that it would burns someone's hands if they held on to the metal. Jack is a 9-year-old boy and it's great for kids to have a super-spy just like them. The books are also completely benign - no one really gets hurt, the bad guys always get caught, and the kids have whatever gadgets they need to get out of a bad situation (and all those gadgets fit in a normal-sized backpack.) Each book also focuses on a different country in the world and thus has an educational aspect to it in exposing children to different cultures (e.g. Kenya, Indonesia) and different political concepts (e.g. poaching, piracy). I pre-order each new book in the series and my 7 1/2-year-old son loves them when we read them aloud to him. (In this particular book, he was a little bit afraid of the snake.)
