The story of Colette in her "own" words is really a montage of images. The attempt to make it appear as if the photographs were compiled and edited by her own hands are convincing. There are many biographies on Colette which describe how she felt and what she said. But the images of which this book is devoted to describe quite different sentiments. I thought it peculiar that she is never seen smiling in any photograph after she marries. For a woman that extolled the virtues of positive and pragmatic thinking that seems peculiar. Possibly she was wounded early in life and decided that life was about pain so one might as well accept it and not complain.

On a par with Patricia Scanlan and Cathy Kelly!

It's not often one discovers a new Irish writer in the league with Patricia Scanlan and Cathy Kelly. It's also dangerous to make the comparison. However, when I found Colette Caddle in "Irish Girls about Town", I knew immediately she was something special. By then she had published two novels, which I immediately got. After that I have got the rest of them. All available here at Amazon.US - except the latest one, "It's all about Him", which you can get from Amazon.UK.
Colette Caddle is a fairly new Irish bestselling author of not quite chick-lit, but a bit more mature women's literature, to put it that way. She writes warm, human novels in a contemporary setting about ordinary people like you and me. About love, marriage and kids. Work and struggle. Joy and sorrow. In short, about LIFE.
Her writing style is light and easy flowing, and although the outcome of her stories is rather predictable, her books are never boring. On the contrary, they are intelligent as well as highly entertaining page-turners. There may be happy endings, but that does not mean they are easily obtained.
"The Betrayal of Grace Mulcahy" is the story of Grace Mulcahy's shaky marriage and the betrayal by her interior design business partner, Miriam. Although the main characters in the book are very much the good versus the bad guys, this does not make them any less believable. After all, crooks and liars aren't exactly strangers in real life either!!
I have read and enjoyed all Colette Caddle's books. The fact that one does not want a book to end, is the best praise one can give. I recommend all her books warmly and hope more readers will discover and enjoy this new Irish "star"!

The intense reality of the Latin American citizen was expresed acidically by Octavio Paz when stetd : "Latin America is the final result of a rape among the Spanish conquerer and the sumise Indian"
Carlos Rangel was a very intelligent and sharp thinker who really wrought with bloody letters the terrible and awful realñity of the Latin American way of thinking in most of cases.
The general tendency of loving the myths as well as not accept his own mistakes and even to think is the other who has to pay my own faults has always surrounded the mental maps of the Latin American and so we should not miss the populism is a kind invitation to find the final shelter in search of a promising future.
Read it; you will be amazed.

This semi-autobiographical book starred an absolutely adorable fearless adolescent girl who thinks herself very sophistocated & worldy in all matters. Colette's perceptions about adults from a child's perspective are frank, canny and hilarious. The first and best of the Claudine novels, though all of them are quite good.

Colette Inez is probably one of the best poets I've ever read. She doesn't dwell too much on fancy analogies or metaphors to get her feelings and messages across to her readers. This book is also incredibly brave because she talks about her parents' illicit affair, her mother's abandonment, and her search for identity. Oh, each poem is so beautifully written. I must add that she is fantastic in person and a must-see. I just hope that she prints something new soon. You just can't get enough of her.

Highly original reading of Colette's "fictionalization" of autobiographical fact, as an effect of "mourning-work." Especially moving is the account of Colette as "ghost-writer" for her dead father, a failed writer. Highest recommendation for students of autobiography and psychoanalysis

Charming, audacious Claudine is the heroine of Colette's finest stories. From the time she is matching wits with her schoolmistress through to taking in Paris as a young bride she amazes and delights with her precocious perceptions. Colette makes you care passionately what becomes of Claudine and her friends.
