capt james winters is accused to commiting a crime he didnt commit, and his life long devotion to upholding the law, seems to stand for nothing when it comes to throwing him in jail and not looking back. so its up to the netforce explorers to help him. this book was action packed, so much so it kept me away from my family and friends because all i wanted to was to rewad on!!! and to be my favorite out of the entire netforce series, the ony bad thing about it was that the book was not longer, but a great book never the less. i have read this book at least 8 times. it is definatly not to be passed up!!!!!

NICE BOOK, GOOD READ

I enjoyed reading this book. But the action in it is too confusing. But you can work it out. I liked it.

A good read.

Captain James Winters is accused of committing a murder he didn't commit. His own agency seems set to take him down for this crime, and it's up to the Net Force Explorers to prove that he didn't commit the crime of murder.

This is an excellent book that kept me interested throughout the story. There isn't as much action as other Net Force books, but the story is good and there's enough action to keep you reading.

This one is worth the money, buy it today, you won't be disappointed.

This book is not as action packed as the rest but the ideas behind the book are better than I can remember. I would suggest buying this book for the action it does include, although it is limited compared to his other books.

My favorite NFEs in one book! Go, Leif and Meg!

The Net Force Explorers are furious! Their caption, James Winters is being suspended after being accused of murder! Now the Explorer's will do anything to prove his innocence. But not only will they have to investigate a recent murder, they will also have to delve into the past of Captain James Winters - which includes the unfortunate death of his wife that took place four years ago. The Explorer's will also have to watch their backs because someone wants to make sure that secrets are left in the dark, and will do anything to keep it that way...

The NFE series are a great Young Adult fiction series, especially those with a love for computers and the Internet. Since the Net presented in the books have no boundaries, you will never know what to expect next. But there IS one thing you can come to expect: stories that have plenty of twists and turns, having the whole plot well balanced with mystery, excitement, and adventure. And sometimes, there's a good romance! The Net Force Explorers include Matt Hunter, Megan O'Malley, Leif Anderson, Andy Moore, Mark Gridley, David Gray, Maj Greene, and P.J. Farris. Occasionally other characters are introduced though they show up rarely.

"Private Lives" is one of my favorite NFE books! The reason as I stated is because two of my most favorite NFEs are the main characters in this story: Megan O'Malley and Leif Anderson. Meg is very much the tomboy and is an expert martial artist. With her stubborn personality, she's the type of person who likes to get things done. Leif Anderson comes from a wealthy family so he is constantly teased from Meg about being 'a rich kid playboy'. He and Meg are called the 'troublemakers' because put together Meg's recklessness and Leif's hacker skills, the two seem to always look for trouble.

"Private Justice" has a great plot, one of the best I've read. Already having read many of the books, I too at the beginning felt as angry as the NFEs felt when Captain Winters is put on suspension! And the ways the kids 'reacted' to this was hilarious! The bantering between the characters are well-written and at some points I was laughing so hard! It's also very obvious to everyone that Leif likes Meg so the light bantering between the two of them is cute! The only problem I have with the story is the ending was too abrupt. It was a bit startling for me when I finished reading the last page and I turned the next page expecting at least another chapter. I felt a bit disappointed not to read more about Leif and Matt since we left them at an interesting point in the story. Ah well, the rest of the story made up for the slight disappointment at the end.

The series is for Young Adults and I strongly recommend only older kids read it since there are many occasions where a few bad words are sprinkled here and there. Not that bad but still in a way a bit annoying to have them in the book. But I still highly recommend it for older kids for I'm sure you'll love it! The books can stand alone though I strongly recommend you read in order since in later books there are some referrences to earlier stories. Favorite part:

"Now I get it," Leif said. "Things are getting out of hand, so you call in your pal the scamologist to see if he can't come up with something - what? Clever? Devious? Certainly something that Captain Winters would never approve of - if he heard about it." Now this explains to you what kind of kids the NFE deals with. ;)

I bought this CD set when it was on Amazon Super Special at about $10. What is not listed or mentioned is that it's a 13 CD set that must run 15 hours. That's a Mega Biggy that's hidden away. I suspect the sellers are afraid telling you it's 13 CD's and 15 hours will scare folks away. Me, I can't wait to hear the next CD.

This is the complete unabridged book read aloud. There is so much more in this audio version than the movie.

The movie is one of my favorites and the CD is a great listen. If you liked the movie, you'll love the CD set. On receipt I immediately ordered two more sets as gifts. Too bad it's up to $29 now. Still worth the $$ by a wide margin though.

This is one of my favorite books- and I am not disappointed in the story-I give that a 5. However, there is an annoying aspect to the recording for this audio book, which is why I gave it a 3 star rating overall. There are many instances of speed skipping on the sound--you can understand all the words okay, but there are many that go fast like a skipping record. I am not sure if it's just my copy, or all of them, as this annoying speed skipping occurs on all discs in the set. The speed of the recording may have be upped to shorten the number of discs--and the recording company just pushed it a little too far--I dont' know. If you like Tom Clancy's work, and you want an audio version, this is still good.

CD is a treat!

Over the past decade, I've 1) read the book, 2) watched the movie, and 3) now listened to the book on CD, narrated by J. Charles.

As Yoda would say, "Entertaining they are!"

The CD (unabridged) really reminded me how different the book is from the movie. J. Charles speaks quickly, so the audio book is really fast-paced. His Soviet accents are a bit heavy, but they grow on you as you get into the story.

Except for some very occasional language, I'd rate the book/CD "PG," so it is "safe" to have kids in the car as you are driving hither and yon (for an example of what I would label an "unsafe" CD, consider Jarhead).

Safe and entertaining!

Two young kids are found in a hotel room in an apparent suicide. The two youngsters were known to frequent the online world called Deathworld. This world is about pain and loneliness. But as the number of suicides among members of this world increases someone becomes suspicious.

Join the Net Force explorers in their latest high tech adventure. This series of books is written with the younger reader in mind, even though as an adult I still enjoy them.

This was a good paced book, easy to read, yet captivating at the same time. This one is worth the money, buy it today you won't be disappointed.

I was skeptikal about reading this book at first because Tom Clancy usually writes adult novels that are, to me, boring. This book is so thrilling, that I couldnt put it down, and read it in one day. He is one of the most clever writers of our time.

The dragon soars above the trees. The sun reflects of the multitude of scales covering the huge beasts back. It's great wings stretch as they beat against the air propelling the creature forward.....

This Tom Clancy created book is an easy read and is entertaining.

This series of books is aimed at the younger reader and takes you into the lives of a group of kids that are part of the "Net Force Explorers". The Explorers are a program created by Net Force, the agency charged with fighting crime on the internet.

Follow the groups latest adventure as they try to figure out what's going on with one of the hottest games on the internet.

This is an action packed story that kept me hooked until I was finished. Buy this book today, you won't be disappointed.

All the Net Force Explorers are excited to visit the annual computer gamers' convention in Los Angeles. One of the top new computer game designers, young Peter Griffeth, is about to give a preview of his newest creation. But monsters from his game attack Matt Hunt and Maj Greene in virtual reality, then they are almost kidnapped in real life! Something is going on and it's up to the Net Force Explorers to figure out what. But their mysterious foes are turning out to be dangerous and violent, people who will do anything to achieve their evil goals. Will the NFEs be able to solve the mystery before it's 'game over'?

I'm a BIG fan of the Net Force Explorers series! The Net Force Explorers include Matt Hunter, Megan O'Malley, Leif Anderson, Andy Moore, Mark Gridley, David Gray, Maj Greene, Caitlin Murray, and P.J. Farris. Occasionally other characters are introduced though they show up rarely.

One of the reasons I find this book to be one of the best is that the action and excitement start from basicaly page one of the book. A page turner, "Gameprey" has in my opinion the most action put in any of the Net Force Explorers Series. Another point in "Gameprey"'s favor is that ALL of the NFEs are in this book! From my favorite characters Leif, the smartest NFE Mark, to the jokester Andy, everyone's involved in this mystery. Another interesting aspect in the book is that we're given the viewpoints of the bad guys, too though Maj Greene is the main character.

The series is for Young Adults and I strongly recommend only older kids since at times the computer and Net 'talk' is a bit confusing and hard for younger kids to understand. I can highly recommend the whole series!

One little thing, though VERY small. There's a typo on page 125, around the upper middle half of the page. The word 'by' is used instead of the correct form, 'buy'. Just a little nitpickers trivia.

Grrrrrrrrrrreat!

As usual, Clancy's teen novels deliever a good plot, awesome technology, and familiar, believeable characters. Things happened a bit fast at the end, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. WONDERFUL book, a must-read, whether you're new to the Net Force series, or an old fan.

I really liked The great race by Tom Clancy and Steve Pieczenik. Probably the main reasons I liked it were because it takes place way in the future and it had awesome technology. It was fun to read about how the people could visit each other threw virtual reality and the net. Also it was a good topic on the teenagers who built the virtual ships and had to face all the troubles of the great race!!! This is a good book for those sci-fi readers and ones who like to read about kids around their age facing and solving problems.

A good book, easy to read.

The Federation ship unfurls its sails and catches the "wave" it needs to jump into hyperspace. As the ship accelerates past the speed of light the inertial dampers kick in to keep the ship from being torn apart.

The net force explorers are at the helm of this virtual ship in a race against other teens of the world for a spot in an upcoming episode of a hit Holo show.

But as ships crash for no apparant reason the explorers realize that this is no ordinary race. Join them in this adventure into the future as they work to figure who's behind the mishaps.

This is another good Tom Clancy sponsored book. As with the other Net Force books this one is aimed at the younger reader, but even us adults will find it enjoyable.

Buy this book today, you won't be disappointed.

All of the Net Force books are good. This one was no exception. But, I like some of the more computer oriented ones than the more out of this country stuff. I am not saying that the entire book is not about computers, because it is. I just like some the deadliest game, virtual vandals, and some of the others a little bit better. But, altogether, it is still a good book and I highly recommend it

These Net Force books are all short, easy to read, and interesting. Like the others that I have read, this one fulfills the promise of the creaters. In this book, Maj's life becomes even more interesting than usual when a younger visitor comes to her home - as an escapee. Her interaction and work with other Net Force Explorers adds character and excitement to the book. Creative design on the Net and action-adventure combine to make this one more in a good series to get and read, for both parents and children. If this is how and what the 'Net' will become, I am all for it. I especially like the values transmitted by the authors in these books. I only wish that I had, again, a younger child to share these with now. I plan on keeping them for my future grandchildren. Maybe by then these books will read like 'history'. Keep it up, authors.

Those new to Tom Clancy should enjoy this series of stories, as all of them are intriguing. My introduction to Tom Clancy was through an audibook, and now I've read thousands of his printed pages. See for yourself.

John Kelly is a former Navy SEAL now a civilian demolitions expert. His pregnant wife is tragically killed in a car accident. As he tries to move on, he meets Pam, a drugged out hooker who is trying to escape her life and move on. Just when John is falling in love with Pam and trying to help her change her life, she is brutally murdered by the drug ring that controlled her and other prostitutes like her. Now John must deal with his anger and compounded sadness. How he chooses to deal with it is highly controversial as he uses his extensive military training to hunt down and take out all of those that are involved with Pam's death.

At the same time, the war in Vietnam is raging and numerous American soldiers have been taken prisoner in a secret location and reported dead. The military calls on John and his expertise to plan an extration of these soldiers and reunite them with their families. John Kelly is living a double life - both involving cunning, strategy, and killing. He wrestles with the morality of what he is doing as it compares to the evil people that are his targets.

Tom Clancy never disappoints. The plot covers a lot of area, but he manages to link the various stories together and keep the reader interested. The book goes on a bit too long at times and could probably have benefitted from being trimmed down. But overall, the pages turn and make for a facinating story. The action is intense on every page and well worth the lengthy read.
