"There is a rare experience that can bring more delight than falling in love - falling in love with God. Both are mysteries of the soul." ~Deepak Chopra

Deepak Chopra presents classic poems from Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir, Mirabai and Rabindranath Tagore to explore immortal love in devotional poetry. These poems are filled with love and longing for the divine. I was especially happy to find poems by the Indian princess Mirabai and always love reading Rumi's thoughts.

"Sunlight spreads over a face in the shadows
Like the flower of truth beginning to unfold." ~Rumi

This book is born of Deepak Chopra's own love for God and his translations embody the joy and lyrical heart of each original poem. His understanding of deep spiritual mysteries in no doubt encourages a deeper understanding and that translates into a much more beautiful reading experience.

He captures the depths of Mirabai's longings in "Where Love Is First," where she almost seems to long for the next life with such intensity, we feel as if her soul will fly from her body to be with God.

"Take me to that place where no one can go
Where death is afraid
And swans alight to play
On the overflowing lake of love."

A brief introduction to each poet is included to give an added historical perspective. What is especially beautiful is that I can hear Deepak Chopra's voice reading me the poems as I sink into contemplation. Through reading this book of poems you can discover why a love for God is a much more lasting ecstasy.

I especially love his translation of "Distant Words" by Rabindranath Tagore where the moon sends us the love letters of God. It feels as close to the original translation as I can personally remember. Thoughts from poets of the past mingle with the love in Deepak's own soul and this creates a memorable collection of spiritual beauty.

"The Soul in Love" would make a perfect gift for someone you love who has an interest in spirituality and a desire to know how poets of the past have explored the light radiating from their hearts. This is truly a spiritual treasure!

The Soul in Love is a lovely journey... passionate in its offerings of how our souls are stirred by the words of Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir, Mirabai and Tagore. I was especially touched by the words of Tagore. In Distant Words Tagore inspires us with the morning dew expressed in these few words-

"You send me love letters in the moon," The night said to the sun. "And I leave you my answer As tears upon the grass."

All lovely and thought provoking!

Wizardry and sorcerory have had negative conotations. Carlos Castenada helped to portray sorcerors in a better light. This reveals Merlin as a Seer (like the prophet Samuel). This book is filled with terrific insights. It may be the universe teaching us about the next step.

I found myself relating not only the symbolism of the Arthurian Lengend to my own real life in this time, but also other symbols that had been in my life but without interpretation until after listening to the book version of Chopra's "Way of the Wizard." So much more of my life became clear to me. I might have preferred another reader (perhaps I will read the written version). Nonetheless, I found the book quite inspiring and highly recommend it.

I have read several of Tagore's works but nothing has ever touched me as deeply as the lines in these poems about children and their loves. The one on the death of a child is my favorite. I lost my own child with leukemia several years ago and thought the tears had all dried up but these touching words of this great poetic master found some still tender areas. If these poems are so very beautiful in their English translations, I can only guess what they must sound like in the original rhythmic and lyrical Bengali language. Thank you for allowing me to review and recommend this book

My mom read some of these poems to me as a child. When she was dying, I read them to her. She smiled when almost nothing made her smile. And then later in the process, they calmed her when nearly nothing else could calm her. These poems seem almost sacred to me.

In Journey to the Boundless, Deepak Chopra explains that we do not have any control over our jobs and relationships. It is a better not to have control in those situations, that way we won't be frustrated over situations out of our control. Deepak Chopra also explains how we can break free of self imposed barriers to achieve our goals. I recommend this audio to anyone who wants to explore their intermost connection, between thier mind, their body and their spirit.

Deepak Chopra changed my views about "self-help" tapes and books. Most of what I have heard or seen advertised, by others, has been very goofy or pretentious.... Deepak, however, is not your usual fare. This man is an EDUCATED, Medical-minded, Spiritual, Philosophical genius. He explains Quantum Theories in a way that children can appreciate, as well as those who don't listen to Feynman tapes or delve into other Deep-Thinking ares. This man is Brilliant, yet he does not "go over your head." He is there to help you see the light...which shines brightly from his work. Chopra's tapes and books reveal much knowledge that has been suppressed and/or ignored for centuries. His work with Wayne Dyer is fun and jam-packed with life-altering views and helpful hints, all backed with psychological, medical and LIFE-Experience research. You will not listen to this tape once or twice and misplace the tape--however, you might loan it to a great friend (that will give it back to you!)--you will find yourself listening to his work often. You will learn something new, each time you play the tapes. Journey Into the Boundless is one of my favorites. A friend loaned the set to me and now I want my own copy! I believe this man's work is so important that I feel obligated to purchase a copy and share snipets with friends. Anyone interested in Spirituality, Healing or Physics would love Deepak Chopra! I cannot say enough good things about this man and his work. His voice is soothing and his words are enlightening. This is money well-spent, and the thought-provoking, intellectual material is priceless!

If you enjoy Chopra or Dyer you will love this audio program. Recorded live at a unity church, it captures the two of them in uniquely inspired moments summarizing the best of their parallel philosophies on life, God and metaphysics. I've read and listened to much of what Dyer and Chopra have produced and this is probably the best thing either of them have put out because it so beautifully summarizes the essence of spiritual philosophy. I bought 15 copies just to share with friends and family. A must for your listening library.

Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D. wrote a genuine and beautiful guide. The New Golden Rules compromise of:
The First New Golden Rule: Part I - Energize Your Spirit
Part II - Satisfaction of the Soul
Part III - The Company of the Holy
The Second New Golden Rule: Listen and Agree
The Third New Golden Rule: Dissolve Your Blocks
The Fourth New Golden Rule: See the Other Person As Yourself

This is an authentically empowering book for anyone who wished to evolve on all levels of life for a life filled with inner peace rather than inner turmoil.

Here is a passage that I feel captures the essence of this book: I'm quoting from Chapter Five: "Deep Listening and Acceptance"

"Hearing is something that happens automatically as long as your ears are healthy. To really listen, however, requires cultivating concentration and learning to pay attention. It involves being patient, and perhaps most important, suspending judgment about what you hear. As you become a good listener, you become aware of the message beyond the words and learn how to tune in to the heart of the individual speaking...These attributes are also critical when you listen for the voice of God and want to appreciate His will for you...The best way to comprehend - be it another person or your Higher Power is to listen carefully, which requires discovering what lies inside our deepest self...Sometimes you may hear the voice of God, but you don't want to accept it. That's why you must not only listen, but also agree to follow the instructions and not judge, overanalyze, or label...

This is truly a wonderful book to help humanity evolve. I highly recommend it!

Excellent book for your spiritual development.
Im deep connected to the God and spiritual person and I still learned few things from this book. I highly recommend for everybody who wants to have a better life, be guided by the God and experience your full potential.
He talks that we should see other person like yourself. I agree with that but I think that is better approach if you see other people like a God, because God is inside of us in our soul. We are all part of the God and when you see other person you can see a God inside. That is a God-self realisation.
Dr. Dharma has a pure energy and his kharma is excellent. I recommend this book to everybody who wants to get a spiritual bliss. Love you all.

I sometimes have trouble sleeping . . . not so much getting to sleep, but
staying asleep . . . so when I saw RESTFUL SLEEP by Deepak Chopra,
I jumped at the opportunity to listen to the program.

Subtitled THE COMPLETE MIND/BODY PROGRAM FOR OVERCOMING
INSOMNIA, it delivered a great deal of information . . . but this was not
surprising because Chopra tends to do that with every book and/or tape
he comes out with . . . in my opinion, this was one of his best.

I particularly liked how he backed up his ideas with insights from
Ayurevda, the ancient Indian science of life.

There were many tidbits I gained from listening; among them:
* You can't force yourself to sleep.

* Trying to sleep will not help; it will actually aggravate the
insomnia.

* Turn your clock to the wall. Don't be concerned with the time.

* The solution to all sleep problems is making the period of being
awake totally dynamic and satisfying.

* Lunch should be your heaviest meal of the day.

* Supper should be light and eaten early.

* Take a short stroll after dinner.

* Avoid watching TV at night. If you must, stop by 9 p.m.

* Best to go asleep before 10 p.m., according to the rhythms of
nature.

* Rising earlier will lead to an earlier time for going to bed.

* Wake up at a regular time every day.

* Do reading in a room other than the bedroom.

* Making your bed each day creates an orderly and harmonious
impression when you go to sleep.

* Extract of lavender is considered helpful for sleep.

* Ask yourself: Do you love your job? Are you really happy?
If "yes" to both those questions, then it is likely to will avoid
most heart and other health problems.

I bought this book several years ago when I first became aware that I was having chronic problems with sleeping. I finally pulled it off my shelf about a month ago and read it. I have found it to be extremely helpful.

Chopra begins by encouraging the reader to consider the connection between waking life and sleeping life, and also the connection between our own biorythms and the rythms of nature.

He then writes about sleep and how to make it restful again rather than stressful. His style is very relaxed and easy to understand. He takes an ayurvedic (the ancient tradition of Indian medicine) approach to helping solve sleep disorders. I was not familiar with the ayurveda prior to reading this book, and really enjoyed learning a little bit about it. As a reader I did not feel that Chopra was trying to convert me, just help me. And - I feel that he did.

This is a wonderful rendition of the Bhagavad Gita--I have listened to it almost daily for many years. Deepak Chopra has a beautiful, calming voice, and the accompanying music is perfectly matched to both his voice and the text. The first half of the first tape explains how the sounds of sacred texts (and all words) have the power to change you from a spiritual level. And the rest of the two tapes are filled with Mr. Chopra reading Chapters 1 through 13. I wish he would record the rest of the 18 chapters!

I have read several different versions of the Gita over the years, and always come back to this--I've worn out several sets of tapes already! I was raised Catholic, and have been a spiritual seeker most of my life, reading and studying the sacred texts of a number of spiritual traditions. What I've found is that the Bhagavad Gita (and in particular, this version) distills the main components of all the others into an easily understandable and practical format for daily living. It is said that the answer to any problem can be found in the Gita, and so far, I have found this to be true. Do yourself a favor, and give this a listen!

This was my introduction to the Bhagavad Gita. I bought it two weeks ago and have not stopped listening to it. I take it on my walk with me everyday. It keeps me centered throughout the day. Deepak's voice is heavenly, the classical Indian music is hauntingly beautiful, and the verses are,of course, sacred! I have since bought Yogananda's translation of the Gita and can honestly say this sacred text is changing my life. My love to Deepak for this introduction.
