I loved the book -- very well narrated. The experiences he had and the descriptions of the places he visited, the feelings he felt, the faces he saw, the eyes he looked at.. really made you feel that you were living it with the author.
I'll be honest, it could have been shorter -- there are too many words around the same situation, but at the end, it really makes you feel different about life. I give the author a golden star! well done Mr. Zancolli!

Candace Pert is amazing, a great and courageous scientist. Her book shows how emotions and cells work together. She presents all the scientific evidence, which can be a bit hard to comprehend. If you need hard, scientific evidence for understanding body-mind-spirit connection, Pert and Bruce Lipton are a great combo.

This has alot of good information! It focuses on Ayurveda, and the principles of the ancient lifestyle. It seems very holistic...but perhaps not super realistic for those of us that work long hours away from home. I like the vibe of the whole thing, slowing down, becoming more aware, working from an angle of balance and prevention-rather than addressing the illness

What I like most about any book that Deepak writes is his depth of wisdom and his committment to living a contemplative life. One clear sign of this wisdom is his appreciation and agility in being able to contemplate his subject from multiple points of view. Thus, whatever he concludes is born out of this desire for a deep and broad understanding...an intuition to the wholeness of Spirit.

I was raised Catholic, well educated and inspired by the story of God, Paradise, Jesus and his profound love and sacrifice for all Being. A few priests and nuns were also inspiring. Yet for myself and many other baby boomers, the religious culture of our time barely registered on any scale of true Love, Peace or Wisdom. Far more important than what we are told to believe when we are young and open is the energy signature of the environment in which the teaching happens. Unfortunately, our modern Western model of a sane and loving world viewed from within our organized religions offers very little for those of us with precocious natures. We need more than platitudes, dogmas, rules of engagement sourced in fear and hypocracies that anyone with a modicum of insight can plainly see.

I believe that Deepak is more credible than most spiritual teachers in that he appears truly interested in your spiritual unfolding and fulfillment. He is also wise enough to perceive that there are significant resistences and challenges to the heightening of the human awareness of the Christ Consciousness or any enlightened state of being. Deepak has clearly brought Jesus into his own unfolding through his research, contemplation and sharing. Yes...this book is Deepak's interpretation of the meaning and purpose of the Jesus story, the Jesus life and Christ Consciousness. He writes it as he sees and intuits it. I for one, simply resonate with his insight and inspiration. He offers many practical ways that every lover of Jesus can explore their own state of consciousness in a context inspired by Jesus himself, as far as we can know him from the past. No one can make dogma (past) out of wisdom or love (Presence). All Truth is alive and flowing throughout each moment of life and the form of life changes as we unfold. Anyone who is willing to inspire and add to this unfoldment has my deepest admiration for their efforts. I can also consciously appreciate the sign of our times that is found in the merging of the spiritual wisdoms from East and West. Common sense should never go unnoticed. The Third Jesus has added to my appreciation and love for the Spirit we call Jesus. For this I am deeply grateful.

I was raised a Christian and still attend a Christian church on occasion. But if anyone who truly wants to understand and believe in Jesus they must first ask themselves why the Holy Bible leaves out the 13 years of Jesus' life. You simply can not leave out half of his life if you are going to chronicle the life and teachings of the Savior of the world. It simply states he went to the East to study. As if it was unimportant somehow. If you want to know about the 13 missing years I suggest "Googling" +Jesus +Issa or +Jesus +Isha (There are two spellings). I hope it would not be too disturbing for Christians to find out that Jesus went to the East to study Buddhism and Hinduism. That's probably why the "Bible Writers" left that part out. After all if Jesus studied and practiced Buddhism and Hindu Yoga why shouldn't we all.

The "Son of God" was not the man Jesus but the "Christ Consciousness" that he was endowed with. He was "one" with the Christ Consciousness so when Jesus spoke he was also speaking as Christ. So when he would say things like "I am The Light, The Way, and The Truth." it was Christ speaking not just Jesus. We can all tap into the Christ Consciousness but not to the degree of Jesus, and that is Chopra's point. Others have made full contact with the Christ Consciousness and have gone by the names Buddha and Krishna, and others.

I find it troublesome that so many people who call themselves Christians believe that theirs is the "one correct" religion and that everybody else has got it all wrong somehow. While Buddhist and Hindu practitioners are open and accepting of all religions as long as they are based on love and compassion. More than one reviewer has tried to make the argument that Chopra has no business writing a book on Jesus because he does not practice Christianity. I'm sure Mr. Chopra would argue he does practice Christianity, just in a different way.

I have a much closer relationship with Christ and God through regular meditation than I ever did going to weekly church services. I no longer follow the Christian doctrines because for me I believe Jesus came here to teach us how to live with one another and how to find God and be with him in our daily lives. Not just to die for my sins. And I do not believe that we are separated from Christ and God (They are "Up" in Heaven and we are "Down" here on Earth). I believe like Jesus taught that the "Kingdom of Heaven is Within" and that we are all endowed with a part of God's Light and God's Love within us and we just need to look inside and find it and nurture it. And that is the point of view that this book takes. It tries to explain, from maybe a different point of view, what Jesus was trying to teach us. How any one could have a problem with that is beyond me.

If you are interested in this book, and I hope you are, you should also take a look at Paramahansa Yogananda's "The Second Coming of Christ".

May you walk on the Path of Enlightenment and your Journey end in the Light.

Finally after covering every possible subject related to God and the spiritual path, Chopra finally takes on his relationship with Jesus. This is a wonderfully written account of his own struggle with the Jesus he encountered in school as a youth, then following his own cultural spiritual path as an adult, and eventually spiraling around to encounter Jesus in a whole new way. For those who are looking to find a new look at Jesus rather than the picture portrayed by the historical church, Chopra provides some insight. This is well worth the read for "worn-out" Christians as well as those of other faiths who intuitively are drawn to the wisdom of Jesus, but can't relate to the tainted version presented by some factions of the Christian faith. This book was so refreshing to me that I bought a copy for a friend's birthday as I didn't want to pass on my own copy. Its a keeper.

Great instruction on how to make it through the wide gate.

There are books that help people understand the subject they are written about and there are books that obscure the truth. The easiest way to spot the ones that obscure the truth are the ones that contradict themselves. To write about Jesus using the Bible as its source and then to discredit that source is a blatant contradiction.

The new perspective on Jesus is not even new, but is a veil to obscure the rest Jesus. This is another book among many that allow people to call themselves christians without having to be christians. Being a christian is not easy. Finding your way through the narrow gate is difficult and treacherous. If your path is smooth, wide, straight and easy; you'll find your walk through the wide gate without ado.

Some very interesting information and concepts in this book, however, I did not close this book feeling more enlightened that before reading the book. If you have a strong religous background, you probably know most of the concepts in this book although you may increase your terminology on subjects such as quantum healing and ayurveda. The book is good for anyone who wants has a negative view of aging and wants to improve the quality of their life as they age.

I was hoping that Chopra might turn over a new leaf, but he's churned out another meaningless book. It would appear he is paid for every time he uses the words 'quantum', 'energy', 'vibration', 'intelligence', and gets a bonus check for using them in vague contexts. Here's an example:
"Underlying our material being there exists what might be called a "quantum mechanical body," which is pure process, energy, and intelligence. Since the quantum mechanical body determines what the quantum body will be like, it is in the quantum mechanical body that we'll find the origins of chronic fatigue."

Trying to distill anything concrete, meaningful, or useful out of this book has only given me boundless quanta of new source of fatigue.

This book is a good, short book with practical advice that is easy to follow if you have a relatively minor problem with fatigue. It is not intended as a work for those with CFIDS and it is not a replacement for seeing a doctor if you have a serious problem. Also, all claims in books such as this should be taken with a grain of salt. This book does not set out to prove the usefulness of the techniques described, but gives anecdotal evidence to suggest how they might help. Give it a try. Or don't. I found it helpful, but that's me. We're all individuals.

As with all Dr. Chopra's books, I found this one to be extremely easy to read and exceptionally well written. Using the primary idea that "Attention has power", Dr. Chopra asks us to begin using our power by bringing our attention to key issues in our lives - both physical and mental - in order to tap into our natural boundless energy. Although the author touches on the issue of chronic fatigue syndrome, this book is not for individuals suffering from that illness (although many of the principles would certainly benefit them) but rather is for the person without a specific diagnosed condition who remembers fondly a time when they had enough energy to tackle their day and not have to nap on the couch before dinner!

The reader begins with an overview of issues surrounding fatigue in our modern world and then takes a dosha quiz to determine their "type" according to Ayurvedic medicine. Having read several books on the subject of the Ayurvedic philosophy, I have to say that this was the best quiz to determine dosha I have seen thus far. Subsequent chapters have various recommendations for specific doshas when applicable. Dr. Chopra centers his text on several "Primary Energy Principles" which are statements emphasizing the connection of the body/mind and the fact that we derive our energy from the abundant energy resources of nature; lack of energy indicates an imbalance or block in this flow.

As with any Ayurvedic resource, the recommendations for overcoming fatigue are incredibly holistic. Beginning with key principles surrounding diet (by dosha) and good digestion, Dr. Chopra also encompasses issues of stress reduction (using breathing meditation, yoga postures, alternate nostril breathing exercises, and self-massage), tapping into the natural rhythms of the day (principles of good sleep, limiting high-focus or stimulating activities after dinner and before bed, getting fresh air and sunshine, getting exercise with recommendations by dosha), and paying attention not only to the health of the physical environment surrounding you but also of your mental and spiritual well-being. I found this last chapter to be particularly profound as I know many people who take to heart a "fitness plan" and never stop to examine why they do not experience passion or joy in their personal pursuits; they have stopped growing as people and the stagnation affects their bodies in profound ways despite their surface "care" of it.

If fatigue is an issue for you (is it not an issue for anyone?), this book is a recommended purchase as you will refer to it again and again as you seek to regain health and vitality in your everyday life.

The Child of the Dawn is a book worth reading and then re reading. It is a story about a young boy in search of adulthood and the power that comes with being an adult. After an extensive search through out the countryside, the young boy discovers that what he is searching for can only be found from within. He must turn to himself to complete his search. Although not required, reading "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" by the author's father, will help you to better understand this book.

I liked this book. I found it suitable for any religion. At first, I thought it was going to be too "New Age" for me, then I decided I was being too closed minded and relaxed, just took it in. Soon I was gaining in a positive way. I will reread this for a pick me up. Also, I copied several phrases from the book to use as reminders of daily encoragement. I wanted to give it a 5, however couldn't because I am not sure I would feel totally comfortable sharing or gifting this book to just anyone. It does require some basic free thinking and application of one's own faith journey to be successful, I would be afraid some wouldn't get past some of the open ended concepts of the journey...maybe not, maybe I am still too closed minded, read it and find out for yourself, let us know!

If you think that other books on this subject are too heavy and long - this is the book for you. Being around 130 pages, with big text - that's a first! This book is so much more then the exploring of a young boy, much more then morality and surviving in the sense of food and sleep. Set out in the poor persons every day life this book makes it simplistic and easy to grasp the real point with it. You get your own roots shaken a bit, your values re-set. At the end of this you have a sense of what real power is, what it truly means to be rich. Rich in the soul, not measured by money.

Being an admirer of his father's work, I bought the younger Chopra's book with high expectations. Alas, Guatama Chopra did not inherit his father's gift of prose or profound wisdom. His story was void of originality and failed to capture the reader's interest, since this concept has seen many incarnations. Unfortunately, this is a case of a decendent riding on the mighty coattails of his successful father. Hopefully, with age, maturity, and wisdom, Mr. Chopra would grow into his identity and improve his written and oral communication skills. Having seen his work as an anchor for Channel One News, I have to say that Mr. Chopra has a long journey ahead of him.

Sacred Verses is very abstract. It is a recording of selected ancient Veda literature translated into English. The verses are very simple. I could have just read the Vedas in book form. I do not receive any benefit from listening to the Vedas on CD form other than becoming familiar with the content of the Vedas. I would not have purchased this CD had I had a chance to preview it first. It is useless knowledge unless you have the intent to study the Vedas. I had initially purchased the CD set to learn about the Vedas, but all I have learned is that the Vedas are simplistic prayers (my prayers are more meaningful). There is nothing to really benefit from listening to this CD set.

Chopra, however, presents a clear voice and diction.

I was disappointed to discover Dr. Chopra's commentary throughout all three CD's. From the write up, I had expected educational commentary in the first parts followed by a more relaxing meditative series. It was not relaxing or meditative because one must listen intently to understand him and the three CD's are almost entirely background music for his educational commentary. Wish I could get my money back.

Meditation Intro

Review Date: 2007-05-13
If you're practicing Transcendental Meditation and have gone to a few lectures on TM, maybe even a residence course or two, you've probably been introduced to the Bhagavad Gita. Deepak tells the story of Arjuna and the conflict facing him as he goes to the battle field, the role of Krishna and ties this all together in a profound revelation of what the transcendent field is. It is an excellent refresher of some of the lectures given by Maharishi. Of course, Maharishi conveys the story from a different level of consciousness, the God level. Deepak tells the story more from the "awake" field of consciousness which is effective for non-meditators. He conveys the deeper meaning behind the stroy to great effect nevertheless. The means soooo much more, however, if you learn the practice of TM. This reading is also good for sidhas too as Deepak also brings out some pointers for this practice as well. This is also an excellent CD even if you'r not a practicing TMer. Deepak teaches meditation to the listener by using the breath as a mantra. The only drawback is the background sitar music. It's ok just for the first few times, but Deepak should say that in actual practice, the only condition for meditation is practicing it in silence.
