"Follow your instincts, that's where true wisdom manifests itself." ~Oprah Winfrey

The Quotable Manager is a wonderful collection of high-quality quotes for business managers and anyone seeking to advance in life through wisdom gained by those who have lived through a wide variety of experiences.

The quotes are divided into logical chapters: Attitude, leadership, perseverance, patience, managing, trust, faith, fairness, planning, career, success, failure, integrity, initiative, focusing, innovation, self-discipline, communication, effort and change.

I love the first two pages where a poem by Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) immediately presents inspiration. The famous individuals featured in the chapters include: Margaret Thatcher, Winston Churchill, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Oprah Winfrey and many more.

"You have two choices in life: You can dissolve into the mainstream or you can be distinct. To be distinct, you must be different. To be different, you must strive to be what no one else but you can be." ~Alan Ashley-Pitt

As I read through this wonderful book I wrote down about 10 quotes I wanted to keep close at hand. There is also a lovely ribbon marker so you can keep your place while reading through this collection of inspiring quotes. This would make a perfect gift for your boss, friends, business leaders and anyone who wants to be more successful.

I found this book in the local library. I renewed it once before I decided I had to have it on my shelf. I teach elementary school, and found this book to be a valuable resource. Our class started to read one quote a day and to discuss the deeper meaning of each quote. These exercises help us to develop vocabulary and to discuss social and emotional issues. The 2000 quotes are of impeccable quality and come from a great variety of sources. I was impressed with the number of quotes from historical figures such as presidents, orators, inventors, and authors. There are also a number of quotes from book characters. The quotes are arranged in themes that cover almost anything you can think of....adventure, kindness, equality, etc. I am sure you will enjoy this book long past your first reading!

I "wallpaper" my sixth grade classroom with quotations, so this book was a must-have. You can open to any page and be instantly amazed by the variety and assortment of quotations by famous and not-so famous people. I especially enjoy the quotes by the authors of children's books and their characters. My students race for the book when they have free time, and they sit in groups to read the quotes and enjoy the colorful text and illustrations. The indexes and classification of the quotes are easy to use and cross-referenced. Amazingly, there were many quotes in this book that I had not found in my other books. Every lover of words and language will enjoy this book!

There are lots of good quotation books for adults but, until now, there were few for children. This book fills that need admirably. The quotations are specifically geared towards children, with full color illustrations and popular subjects such as school, sports, friendship, etc. The section on "How To Use This Book" is clear and concise. The book also includes a cross-referenced subject index and a people index.
Pair this book with What the Dormouse Said by Amy Gash, Who Said That? by Robert Burleigh, and/or Stretch Your Wings by Janet Cheatham Bell to round out your collection.

"The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice, and by failing to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change. But, by noticing what we fail to notice, we can shape our hopes and dreams."

This book provides a wide variety of self-reflection mechanisms that are imperative to personal growth and reflection.

This book includes the great philosophers that we all know about, and tons of people in history who have had profound philisophical thoughts also. There are over 1300 quotes! No anonymous quotes, very few repeats, and no fluff. There are 5-7 quotes on every page and, no matter which page you pick, you will find an incredible set of quotes waiting for you. I highly recommend this book!

EVERYONE who cares about this country, let alone the election MUST read this book ASAP, regardless of party or politics. No spin, no subjectiveness, just 100% TRUE QUOTES that inform the reader like no other publication to date. This book deserves runaway success and widespread media attention. And it's ENTERTAINING at the same time, a first for a "political book." The truth is the truth and "Quote Without Comment" delivers.

Without Comment is a must read as we gear up for a critical election. At first it appears to be an oversimplified format, but, I have read it many times and each time I get another nuance of the quotes selected. I recommend it to all on both sides of the political spectrum.

It is refreshing to have an author provide true and accurate information without their blinding bias. Bill Effros does the American reader justice by allowing us to decide for ourselves what we think of our political leaders by giving us their words! It can be a difficult and daunting task to decipher from the barrage of media coming at us to know which information is true and which is not. "Quote without Comment" is a simple entry way into a very complex web of the words of our political leaders that shape our reality in America and in the world.

Jim Walker has put together a diverse collection of quotes on leadership. From Jesus to Napoleon, you'll find their thoughts on hope and service to others. From General Patton to Gandhi, you'll read what these leaders have said about getting results and sacred duties. From Maya Angelou to Dr. Seuss, you'll reflect on teamwork and confidence. It's no accident that the word which stands out in the title is INSPIRE. The quotes Walker has selected can be used in a variety of ways; they can be used for personal motivation or to help lead a group to success. I wish I had found this book a year ago. There are a number of quotes I would have liked to use to introduce chapters in the book that I wrote for developing leaders.

This book wins by combining powerful quotes with a format that's easy to digest. In a plane ride I was so invigorated by "Ready, Aim, Inspire!" that I bought it for my leadership team. Actually, the four martinis in First Class might have helped. But what's the difference?

A profound and meaningful testimony of faith direct from the lips of the Great Communicator president

Review Date: 2005-07-06
Reagan's God and Country fills in a gap left by many of President Ronald Reagan's biographers, which often overlook, minimize, or even look down upon his strong religious convictions. Author and political campaign consultant Tom Freiling presents portions of every meaningful public address Reagan gave about God, religion, and morality. Each excerpt is a few lines to several paragraphs long, and each refers to a different facet of spirituality and personal convictions concerning tough choices. A profound and meaningful testimony of faith direct from the lips of the Great Communicator president. "If you came upon an immobile body and you yourself could not determine whether it was dead or alive, I think that you would decide to consider it alive until somebody could prove it was dead. You wouldn't get a shovel and start covering it up. And I think we should do the same thing with regard to abortion." - remark to reporter, White House press conference, January 19, 1982.

If you have any interest at all in Reagan, you have to read this book. This helps round out the man and his convictions. Although this is a very insightful look at Reagan's religious beliefs and how he was not afraid to share his faith with the public, I still find it hard to determine whether he was a Christian or just a deist. Either way, Reagan was a complex fellow. Just one more thing that was impressive about this great president's administration.

This very interesting book contains over 1,200 quotations from around the world. Some quotations are from ancient times; others are from the present day, yet they all seem current and meaningful. They cover many different categories, such as advice, humour, courage, and leadership. My son has used the book to look for quotations to include in his reports. I have found that he often gets caught up in reading the quotes (and forgets about his report). Besides being inspirational, these quotes provide an insight into the personalities and dreams of those who first spoke their words. It is a must for every family with children. Keep it on the bookshelf next to the dictionary.

I use this book to help inspire my sixth grade students! Every day I select one quotation, and call it my "Thought of the Day." I ask a student to read it out loud, and then ask the class what they think the spearker is trying to tell us. After a brief discussion, I read the information about the speaker and discuss their contributions to the world. What a great way to teach students about important people of the past and present!

I came across Deb's book while waiting to get a massage in Great Barrington and as soon as I picked it up I felt like it was speaking directly to me. It is disarmingly simple with it's whimsical "cartoon" drawings, yet deeply profound -- speaking of simple basic truths about being human that all one has to do to verify is look inside one's self. Flipping through Deb's book put me back in touch with my childlike innocense. I highly recommend it!!!
