The Dallas Morning News Review (Saturday, November 19, 2005)

Maintaining an attitude of gratefulness can change your entire perspective on life, says Taz Tagore, who speaks from personal experience.

Her family were refugees from East Africa, and by young adulthood, she'd become an overachiever with a Harvard MBA. A meditation retreat reawakened her to other dimensions of living.

Ms. Tagore wanted to share the ideas she's collected, so she started two nonprofit organizations - and wrote this book. The Reciprocity Foundation aims to match creative homeless youth with jobs in the arts; the Appreciate Network sells artistic products to raise money for the foundation [...].

In Seasons of Thanks, she takes readers through the year, briefly exploring a wide diversity of thanks-giving celebrations and practices from many faiths. Each page also highlights one or two blessings, mealtime graces, or selections of poetry.

The book would make a good thank-you gift (but note that its design-trendy type font might not be welcomed by older readers). It also would be a good addition to one's personal library, for morning or evening devotions, reference or an occasional reminder.

What I loved most about Seasons of Thanks is that
it is two books in one! The first time I saw it in a
bookstore, I quickly browsed all of the blessings,
poems and prayers highlighted in bold, colorful text.
Now that I own the book, I can read each chapter
carefully--it is filled with interesting stories and
facts about the significance of every major holiday
and season. This book has taught me to appreciate all
the special little moments in life.

This book changed my life!!!

Seasons of Thanks is the first book I have found
that truly integrates stories, rituals and blessings
from every culture and faith. As a person with an
interfaith family, it is always a challenge figuring
out what to say before a family dinner or holiday
meal. I loved all of the suggested blessings..even
the one's the author wrote herself. And the book
design will knock your socks off. This is a really
special collection.

A natural way to develop a practice of grateful living is to carry on the time-honored tradition of saying grace at mealtimes. Created around holidays celebrated by a wide variety of cultures throughout the year, this elegantly designed book is a rich source of stories and words to feed your soul and express your gratitude. Proceeds from the book go to Appreciate Network's program for homeless youth.

This book captures the most amazing similarities between golf and life. For one to understand the game of golf, truly has a passion for life. From the moment I picked up this book, I was captivated by its wisdom. The Secrets to the Game of Golf & Life should be required reading for all those who wish to master the game of golf. There are no guarantees that it will improve your game, but it will improve your mental awareness of it. The rest is up to you.

In golf as in life, how we perform is up to us. Leonard Finkel has brillantly mirrored golf and life in "The Secrets to the Game of Golf & Life"...our understanding and emotions, meeting unexpected challenges and playing the game. This book of quotes from Palmer, Nicklaus, and Confucious, accompanied by Gary Max Collins' paintings, is a must-have.

What a marvelous collection of quotations, stories, analogies, and parables! Many made me chuckle, and as many made me tear up and thank God for my many blessings!

Unfortunately, it appears this book is out of print, but you can easily find a decent used copy here or by searching the web.

Some would quibble with the variety, finding fault with some of the sources Chuck uses. But, the truths brought out in every instance outweigh any doubtful source! Religious and Christian authors and celebrities do not have a lock on the truth. God reveals truth to everyone and all truth points to God.

This is a great gift idea for any person who is mature and settled enough to appreciate the truly finer things in life - wisdom and contentment. Highly recommended for giving to your pastor, elder, friend or kin.

The best gift I ever gave my parents!

"Thanks for Everything" includes all the things I never thanked my parents for. It's funny to read through the pages (there's a lot in there!) and remember all those times growing up that your parents put up with you, stuck up for you, or just didn't ask. Every page has a different "Thank you", funny, touching, whatever.... I think it really touched my parents that I used this book as a way to tell them I appreciate everything they've done for me and thank them for being the best parents around. This one's a winner!

I want to personnaly thank Billy Bulanti for a wonderful representation of what Thank You's are really meant for! When I first read the book, a perfect picture of my mother developed in my head, and when I read it a second and third time, it became clear to me that it's not only holidays and birthdays Thank You's are meant for. They are meant for every little thing that your mother has done for you, in the many years that she has risen you! Without my mother, my world would crumble in front of me, and since my world has not crumbled, this book allowed me to reach even further within myself, and Thank my mother for not only giving me life, but for doing everything in her power to raise me and teach me the necessities of life! Billy, thank you for writing this book, and having the world realize what mother's really mean!

The perfect way to say thank you.

As an individual who grew up in a loving and ever-giving environment, I am forever challenged to offer up a thank you worthy of the two responsible. My parents were the quintessential givers of love, care, and everyday parental guidance, and for this I am eternally greatful. Mr. Bulanti's book of thank you's, hit's it on the nose. Among the 365 thank you's, there are some which are obvious, but the bulk of the piece is insiteful and sometimes moving reminders of just how important those mom's and dad's are. I found it an absolute joy to read and follow throughout the year. It's a great deal more practical than your average calendar. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.

Thanks for a great gift idea!!!

Heartfelt and to the point. How often do you find that in life or in print? Bill Bulanti distils the most tender and quirky moments of our family lives into nuggets of truth that are there for the taking.

I laughed, giggled, and even got a little misty-eyed as I read through his 365 "Thank you's". For me, they captured the essence of my relationship with my parents in a way I had never been able to fully express. I gave my mom a copy on Mother's day and she thought it was so great, she bought a copy for her mom!

Ergenbright strikes again in this slender volume of gorgeous photography. He and Pastor John Piper both write wonderful introductions about their purpose in creating the book and their hope that it will draw the reader closer to God.
The theme, as the title suggests, is to focus on the Scripture that tells us to think of all praiseworthy things in the world that are God-inspired. Fulfilling this Scripture, the book offers not only striking pictures of landscapes and oceans, but also pictures of magnificent man-made structures, reminding us of our God-given desire to create great things, and wonderful pictures of people, namely children whose sweet smiles and shining innocence remind us of the nature that God wishes us to have when we approach Him. Accompanied with all this is more wonderful Scripture.

From fairytale castles to a gorgeous storm cloud roiling over a lonely road, this book offers a variety of beauty. Several of the nature photographs will either have you in awe or set your heart at rest, and the priceless children will make you smile until your face hurts. I highly recommend this gem for any soul to remind us of all the beauty in God's world!

Once again, after 'THE ART OF GOD' and 'THE IMAGE OF GOD,' Ric Ergenbright shows his mastery of the art of photography and his dedication to the word of the Bible. You may open any page, from those depicting the rocky coasts of New England and Italy to the far reaches of India and South America, and find inspiration. THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS can be read over and over and never will you arrive at the same thought. Things that are going to last take a long time to build, and Ric Ergenbright has reminded us, with an enchanted eloquence, from whence came the cornerstones.

Haase's book is wonderful and wonder-filled. So many of the insights of the children remind us that wisdom is not retricted to the aged. It is wonder to read again of the world as seen and so often deeply understood through the simplicity of children. The author reminds us to look again carefully at our world and all the wonders in it and look when possible with the eyes and understanding of a child. I was touched especially by the sketches of the children who touched her life. I have taught for over 30 years and I can't believe how many words of wisdom simply passed me by

What a wonderful little book, even if you don't have children.

I normally do not read books like this, but being a grandfather of a 4 year old, I picked it up and read it. And RE-read it and then read it again. What a wonderful little book. I learned more about love, death, poverty, success and the future in a half hour than I have learned in books that took me weeks to read. I especially like the story about a Catholic nun who believes in her faith interacting with a Muslim boy who believes in his faith. Too bad we don't have politicians reading that story.

The lesson I took away from this book is one we have all heard before - listen to the children, they have a wisdom and an understanding on life that can help us all face a very scary world.

I bought this book when I was in high school in the early 70s and still have the same copy. It's dog-eared and well worn, because I've read it so many times. Some of the quotes just stick in your head, like Frank Zappa saying "Speed will turn you into your parents" .. soo, not sure WHY I remember that one, but it was the 70s...... The book is full of great quotes from all over, categorized into various sections and a lot of fun to go back and read.

If I had the book here in front of me right now I'd type out a few more (better) quotes to give you a flavor for what kinds of gems are in there.

I was given a copy of this book while I was in college, in the mid 70's. I still remember looking through it over and over, trying to find the right thought for what I needed at the moment.

The book disappeared over the years and I missed it. I discovered the Dallas public library had a copy in the reference section so I went down there one Saturday and hand copied most of it. Then I was elated to find a copy at a used book store for a dollar.

It is time for a reprinting of this book. It's a wonderful rememberence of the counterculture of the sixties (bleeding over to the seventies) yet many of the ideas expressed by the quotes are fresh and applicable today. Plus, Spiegelman's too-few illustrations are great.

The stories bring the teachings of the Bible into the lives of young children in a way they can easily realate. The Miller family is a very conservative family but we found that even though we did not hold to the same customs they do our children were able to relate and connect very well to the lessons in each story.

I highly recommend this book! My whole family loves this book, as well as the others in the series. My children ask for it every night, and the first time my husband read it to them, he was so impressed that he asked if I could get more books in the series.

We love the godly wisdom and the practical, real-life stories that illustrate the principles in each chapter. I admit, I even get a little choked up at some of the stories.

If only my husband and I had these books when we were children -- we could have saved ourselves a lot of struggles and pain with the godly wisdom taught in these books!

Kids LOVE it

This book is a compilation of short stories or chapters that each involve one or more of the Miller family children. Each story presents a life lesson learned by one or more of the kids, usually as the result of an "ordinary" childlike infraction (feuding, disobedience, neglecting duties, etc.). Then, we see one or both of the parents gently but appropriately correcting the matter, typically with the telling of one of their own life lessons, and a reference from Proverbs. These little stories provide excellent moral lessons. I read this book aloud to my young children, and overall I found it to be interesting, plainly but adequately written, and useful as a "teaching" aid, but my 5-stars really come from the level of enthusiasm that my kids showed for this book. My copy was illustrated (some of the illustrations repeated throughout the book), and my kids liked the pictures. To them, this was as good as a C.S. Lewis book or another "classic." Their vote is good enough for me, and to think that they may model the lessons from the book makes this only better.
