G. K. Chesterton Books

I actually returned this book. It was a gift for a neighbor as it was classified as a large print edition. Maybe it has larger print, but it is not typical large print. If someone has a serious vision problem it is not large enough. I compared it with his large print books and there was a huge difference.

I love reading about St. Francis, but I could easily have passed up this volume. Chesterton's style is very, very wordy; he takes pages and pages to say something that could have been summed up in a sentence. And he seems to think the crusades were good, or at least necessary, and hold other beleifs that I find distasteful. No, if one wants to read an interesting book about St. Francis, pick a different one.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT. HALF WAY THROUGH BOOK 1 I REALIZE THIS AUTHOR IS NOT MY CUP OF TEA! WILL PROBABLY NOT READ BOOK 2.

I must admit that the author or compiler had written an excellent introduction for the book. However, perhaps Chesterton is not the Oscar Wilde, Bernard Shaw or even Winston Churchill type of person who frequently spoke intelligent words with a little scent of sarcasm, he is never a good choice for compiling a book of wise sayings. I am sorry to say that is by far the most boring book of its kind I had ever read. For those who want to know more about Chesterton and learn his wisdom in the right context, his autobiography is certainly a much better choice.

p.s. I never expected that the book could be this very thin and small, and thus expensive, relatively speaking. (and even more expensive considering the quality of content)
