For I have read Alice in wonderland in Spanish, French, Italian and English. I know that translations can mutilate the piece of work, but in many cases (such as Alice and 100 years of Solitude by Garcia Marquez) it can feed the literary sense of the pages. The game of words, in every language will dispose of different elements, thus giving the images within the text new visions, new symbols, new meanings. Wonderful book, wonderful dream. for life, what is it, but a Dream?

I had been searching for my first copy of Alice in Wonderland for the longest time and finally found this one. This is rather a richly designed edition to the Carroll classic. It comes with a necklace too! Alice in Wonderland is one of the few books that have rarely charmed both children and adult readers. The talents of John Tenniel are amazing. The way he draws those detailed pictures is fabulous. AMAZING! There's an illustrator if you had one. The story is so well written. I read this book to my little brothers who love little Alice. They think it is just so joyful. They like the characters, the White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts. They think they are so funny. I like little Alice and the Rabbit myself, if you'd ask me. This is such an excellent book. Grab it while ya still can!

A MUST-HAVE ITEM FOR ALL FANS OF "ALICE"

Peggy Webber directed and wrote this outstanding adaptation of Lewis Carroll's "ALICE IN WONDERLAND" for

California Artists Radio Theatre. The beautiful, gentle piano score is composed by David Pinto.

The production is perfectly cast. Roddy McDowall is ideal as Lewis Carroll (The Narrator) and The March Hare. Samantha Eggar is excellent as Alice. Henry Kaplin is wonderfully neurotic as the White Rabbit. Kathleen Freeman and Jeanette Nolan are featured as the Duchess and The Queen Of Hearts, respectively.

Three characters from the sequel "THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS". Tweedledee and Tweeledum (great character actors William Windom and Parley Baer) and The White Knight (John Astin) are also included here. In this version, Alice meets them just after the celebrated Mad Tea Party. After these encounters, the story continues in the Queen's garden, with the croquet game and crazy trial, as in Carroll's book. Like Alice's adventures, the production passes by all too quickly in a breezy 90 minutes. But we can always listen to it over again. The production comes in both two cassettes and two CD formats. This is an absolutely essential purchase for any fans of Lewis Carroll and "ALICE." From Oasis Audio. www.oasisaudio.com

Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland is a book about a young girl named Alice who knows that if she had a world of her own she would know it wouldn't make sense. Then all of that changes when a white rabbit comes in the story. Full of curiosity, Alice then follows the White Rabbit into a rabbit hole, and now at that point, figures out that she has entered into another world, Wonderland. Therefore Alice must get her way home and along the way meeting unforgettable characters from this book. Like the caterpillar, March Hare and Mad Hatter, Duchess, the mischievous Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts. This book is a great book to read for all kinds of ages, since this book is full of imagination, great characters and more.

This is the edition I grew up with. Firmly implanted in my mind some 40 years later, and relevant to so much of what I have encountered in the world -- from Humpty Dumpty's made-up words through the White Knight's "the name is called . . ." Just read it to my two girls, a wonderful experience for all of us. Make it live on!
