Chicabee is a very special word that Andrew Lueck coined for his daughter and means 'to be a girl". It started out as a simple nickname and became a series of short impromptu stories that eventually combined to become a remarkable and unique children's picturebook. Chicabee is a girl who uses her confidence, wit, savvy and imagination to make the most of every day. She's joined by her younger sister, Little O, who follows her every where she goes. There's also Sparkle, a pretentious cat who loves all things shiny and bright, as well as Yappy, a dog who is always willing to join in with what every is going on. Brightly illustrated and well as engagingly written by Andrew Lueck, "Chicabee" is a delightful picturebook for family, school, and community libraries, and is most especially recommended for children ages 3 to 8.

I found this book slightly confusing, but it managed to hold my attention quite well. This book dealt much more with the mystical than the previous two books did. I was glad to discover that this book was not nearly as dark and disturbing as the second book was, however, it was still difficult to stomache some of the torture scenes

I was skeptical when my mother gave this book to my 13 month old daughter because it was intended for an older audience, but this soon became one of her favorites. The A is for ... , B is for ... is written in a clever rhyme/poem that my daughter loves to hear. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. The textures and patterns remind me of Edouard Vuillard. And they are packed with details that a young child loves to see--a small cat in the snow, children holding dolls and books, people wearing hats. Reading alphabet books can frankly be a bit tedius for parents, but not this one--I'm happy to read it several times a day because my daughter requests it all the time.

Christmas Recipes: A Collecting & Sharing Journal With Pockets is a do-it-yourself cookbook. It presents five starter recipes for treats like "caramel corn" and "chocolate crinkles", but the vast majority of this journal consists of blank pages to write down treasured food favorites for the Christmas season. Four deep pockets also allow for easy storage of recipe cards, and the simple illustrations here and there add a delightful touch to this excellent consumable resource for the culinary aspects of the holiday festivities.

I don't think of myself as much different from most people who grew up in the United States, going through grade school with a modest understanding of our nation's history. From Columbus up until the present day, we were presented with an abbreviated history highlighted with sidebars that would occasionally delve deeper into the subject matter. My knowledge of Christopher Columbus was basically limited to the fact that he was Italian, had gone to Spain and convinced King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella to finance his voyage to Asia, which he felt he could reach by heading west, and that he had made four voyages of discovery. After listening to this fascinating book-on-tape by Ernle Bradford, I learned not only about how tough it was...years of hard work...just to get Ferdinand and Isabella's support, but about the intrigue and drama that resulted in the later voyages. The experiences of these four distinctly different trips, including the dangers and life-threatening challenges that make the work of today's thrill-seekers pale in comparison, are vividly drawn in an engrossing story that makes me feel an admiration for this man I could not have expected. Let the judgement of today's political scientists be what it may regarding the destruction of the indigenous people and the resulting chaos that became the New World. For me, "Christopher Columbus" is an engrossing story of a man who braved incredible dangers to rally support for his mission and his religion, managed to nurture relationships of both royalty and ordinary seamen in his efforts to achieve success, faced mutinous challenges by greedy counterparts, and sadly, never lived to know the scope of his discovery.

This is a well done cartooning book. As an amatuer with only a hint of talent at drawing, I gained a great deal fromt this book. It helps you to see the simple shapes that most cartoons start from and how to build upon it. It is more geared toward the teen audience, but adults and even young children could gain much from it. The directions are simple to follow and there are tons of examples and illustrations. Even a non-artist like me was able to turn out some impressive cartoons. This would be a great book for anyone interested in drawing and/or cartooning.

This is a great drawing book. It has many great action heroes. My friend had this book and I looked at it and it looked great so I am going to buy it. I suggest you buy this book because it is a great book!

This is a great book for a person who is starting out. It tells you the main ideas to get you started, and comes with all the materials you need to start out. This was the first animation book/set I bought, and I thought it was very useful.
