First volume of the story of how a woman, Artesia, becomes a worshiped war strategist. She uses her special powers, her female intuition and her sexuality in a brutal world already in war, full of conspiracy.
She fights her opponents not only as an excellent swords (wo)man but also by communicating with the underworld and she's constantly accompanied by spirits

Set is very complete with plenty of clay. A fun way to make some very realistic creatures. 6 yrs old & mom both enjoyed how great they looked when done. All on display. Would also make a great starter claymation set for mini web cam movies etc..

There goes my budget . . .

I first became aware of the Arts & Crafts movement of William Morris and his circle back in the late 1960s, when Art Nouveau (an outgrowth of Arts & Crafts) was enjoying a renaissance. I ended up with several pieces of Arts & Crafts-style furniture (replicas, naturally, on my graduate school budget), some poster (reprints) and a couple of affordable ceramics (original). And I made a point thereafter of searching out museum collections and galleries specializing in this stuff. I still have a preference for the clean lines of furniture and the luminescent glazes on pots, especially those by Pilkington and Rookwood. Miller has brought together in this beautifully produced volume more than a thousand examples of design and craft, with detailed descriptions and notes and a list of "Key Features" for various artists and studios. Approximate values also are included, though I'm happy just to look at the pictures. If you're trying to learn about the Arts & Crafts movement, this would be a good visual textbook.

The Arts & Crafts Studio of Dirk Van Erp =Dorothy Lamoreux

This catalog view of the work of Dirk Van Erp is without equal - the photographs alone, of Van Erp, his wife, children, and co-worker Craftsmen...to say nothing of the views of his shop and salesroom, are priceless. The book fills a large gap in the public record of the seminal work of this, the second-most important Arts and Crafts figure in North America (after - or before, if you will, Elbert Hubbard).

It has been estimated that there are less than two thousand extant Van Erp pieces in the world today. I feel that a reading of Dorothy Lamoreux's excellent book will make we happy owners - and the rest - appreciate the passion that went into their creation.

Buy this book. STEAL this book. Read it, surely.

A good text to suppliment a strong hands-on art program
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2004-11-25
I used a much older edition of this book in high school (it had a brown cover way back then). This text was good suppliment to the hands-on projects we did in class. It taught about art basics like types of meduim, technique, and touched on artists, famous works, and how to look at art. This is a great text to ensure students develop and hold an interest, love and understanding of art.

Sarah Jones has definitely provided great insight into the "recording industry". With this book you are able to get a bird's eye view of the "real" industry. She explains in great detail of the work required to succeed in this very fickle business. If you are looking for the recording industry to be de-mystified, this book is for you. Hats off to this lady, she knows what she is talking about!

refreshing American Memories, ... for trying times
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2002-03-06
The first resident historian at the renovated landmark Astoria Studios (APC), and then at the associated new American Museum of the Moving Image (AMMI), noted film scholar Richard Koszarski brought to life here an engaging early chronicle of a New York chapter of pictorial highlights in celebrating the best in American media. Published nearly twenty years before this age of grim Taliban influences and videogame savageries, it may be time again for us to reflect on a new sequel of refreshing views and memories in these serial chapters of American media culture.

Guidebook to the Astral Realms
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2004-06-06
Among adepts this remarkable book is simply refered to as "Manual No.5" (that was it's old Theosophical Society designation.) When it was penned in 1894 this book was unique. This is because prior to that time all books on the subject were traditionlly written in an obscure and metaphorical manner. Bishop Leadbeater changed all that- he took 19th century scientific objectivism and applied it to the most mystical and subjective of studies. The result is a virtual Baedecker (travel book) of the astral realms. As a result this was the first modern English language text to be included in the permanent collection of the Brotherhood. This book opened, and continues to open, doors.

Briefly, this little volume, covers: scenary, inhabitants, and phenomena of the astral realm. Since this is the realm most closely in contact with our own it can be a most useful and practical guide book. For instance, you will find summarised here more real facts on black magicians, elementals, shades, vampires, and werewolves than in many thicker, more modern volumes. Indeed, a pocket sized hard cover of this manual is quite convenient to carry at all times as a review, and passport....
