Profusely illustrated throughout with the full-color photography of Mellisa Punch, "Gadgetology" is a lively and 'kid friendly' collection of do-it-yourself instructions for recipe, crafts, games, and experimental projects utilizing thirty-five different kitchen implements or 'gadgets' common to any home. Kids can build an edible log cabin with an apple corer, make a strawberry taste like orange juice with a marinade injector, write secret messages in a lemon juice based invisible ink and the use of a citrus squeezer, make a jelly bean nest with a garlic press, and so much more! Fun and informative, "Gadgetology" is a unique and enthusiastically recommended addition to any family or community library children's activities reference collection.

So much fun - for you and your child

This book is so much fun to use, and is gorgeous to look at. Having projects that you can do with your child by just going to the kitchen and using tools and food you already own is such a fabulous idea. So many project books for kids require items you have to go out and get especially for the project --- not very convenient for spur of the moment fun. This book makes it easy to be spontaneous. And you'll have as much fun as your child! My eight year old and three year old both love it.

I highly recommend this book!

This is a great book. My grandchildren and I giggled our way through it as we shared the stories of "Garfield and the Three Bears, " Little Red Riding Odie," and "Garfield and the Sleeping Beauty."
We are all familiar with these tales, but take out the usual characters and replace them with Garfield or Odie and you are in for a real treat and a whole bunch of giggles. The illustrations are outstanding as well. All in all a read winner of a book. Highly recommended.

Never too young for gargoyles

You know what? My daughter, 23 months, LOVES this book. Gargoyle (or rather, "ga-goyle") has become one of her favorite words. She asks for this book by name frequently, and excitedly points out gargoyles she sees on local buildings in Chicago. This is a pleasant change of pace from the usual childhood fare.

"Gargoyles: Monsters in Stone" is a fine educational book by young readers. Jennifer Dussling's text is accompanied by Peter Church's charming full-color illustrations. Together, these collaborators explain the story behind the stone gargoyles that can be seen high up on many buildings.

The book explains the practical function of the gargoyles (to drain water from buildings). The book also explains how a stone carver creates a gargoyle, and illustrates various types of gargoyles. The illustrations are particularly pleasing, as are the Celtic-looking design borders that are used on the pages. A must-have for kids with an interest in the topic.

Children will walk away from this easy reader with a wealth of knowledge about gargoyles! The illustrations complement the rich and accessible text by giving a medieval feel! A great read aloud! A great independent read!

I just happened to stop by a used tack shop one day and found this book in there. I respect George Morris very highly and am looking forward to learning all that I can from this book. I haven't been teaching all that long, and this book lists many excercises that help teach beginners while keeping it fun and interesting. A must read for any trainer!

This book made my career as a winning beginner instructor.

George's beginner book had a tremendous influence on elevating my skills as an instructor of beginner riders. Even working as a part-time instructor, my riders had more blue ribbons and championships (from leadline and walk/trot to 2'6" fences) at local and some recognized AHSA shows than students riding with full-time professionals on more expensive horses. It is unfortunate that the book is out of print--George's information is absolutely timeless.

when I started training kids to ride I lacked the knowledge of specific exercises to isolate each part of the rider. George gives you every tool to do what he does with his clients, follow it like its the bible. At my farm a copy is kept is the trunk, it is considered the manual and it settles disputes quickly. He teaches you not only how to train a rider, but also the quality standards that true horsemen demand. This one needs to be in print, all people out there trying to be trainers should have a copy of this close by, I suggest following it to the letter. Thank you George Morris and Gordon Wright, you have raised my expectations for my students and for myself.

The author has done an excellent job of making German approachable to a complete beginner. She begins slowly and proceeds in a clear and logical manner. If you stick with the program, you could actually be speaking a new language in a matter of months. Highly recommended to adult learners.

A Fantastic German Instuction Book

This book starts off easy and gradually works it's way up in a very easy manner. I must warn you that you should not just look over the vocabulary and grammer. I kept memorizing it until I knew it well and then I moved on. My Berliner friend who used to not speak any German to me now talks small sentences to me and says that I have improved dramatically. It's only been two weeks! You have to get this book if you want to learn German quickly. I also recommend Pronounce It Perfectly In German. Hugo's German in Three Months has a good pronunciation section, but this one leaves you talking like a native. They're the best!

An excellant review and challenging introduction to German

"German In Three Months" is a thorough review of German which is user friendly and--when used with the tape option--provides important components of language learning done without a flesh-and blood teacher: hearing a native speaker pronounce, construct sentences, and use the rhythms unique to each language. My purpose in using the set was to resurrect my college German which has been ignored for thirty years. It served that purpose admirably. The set is not in the "useful phrases for the three-day tourist" style; but rather provides a relatively rigorous overview of grammar, as well as a varied started vocabulary. This throughness was wonderfull for my needs; but may perhaps be a bit challenging for the absolute beginner. In general, a very good quality package.

This book is excellent. I would recommend starting at the beginning and reading through each project. It is set up as a workbook and one chapter leads into the next. A color wheel is a must and really helps one select the fabric for each project. Not all sales persons in the fabric store have the knowledge that you will obtain from this book. Thanks M'liss. Beginners seeking a user-friendly quilter's guide will find the vivid colors and unusual designs of M'Liss Rae Hawley's Get Creative! to be inviting. M'Liss provides only 8 projects to serve as a foundation for gathering skills, but each easy project offers important lessons in color and design and offers enough flexibility for beginners to incorporate their own designs and interests. A lovely collection of formulas and stories.

Amy the nightowl stayed awake to watch the Late Show. Then the Late, Late Show. Then the Late, Late, Late Show. THEN she watched the Early, Early, Early, Early Show. FINALLY, she went to bed.

You can imagine the consequences of this: she couldn't wake up the next day. Her family tries to wake her up (her brother even blows her hair off her face with the volume of his voice), but to no avail. What to do?? Brother has to go to school & mom and dad have to go to work, she can't stay home! So, they take her to school in her bed!

Now the fun REALLY begins!! Her teacher can't get her to wake up, no matter how loudly she bellows. She doesn't wake up through gym. She doesn't wake up through lunch. She doesn't even wake up through recess!! Finally, she's carted off back home in her bed where she sleeps through the night.

You can imagine what happens when she comes to school the NEXT day!!

Robert Munsch has written over 20 books, including the very popular "Love You Forever". His fun, fast-paced style will hold readers' interest as well as the bright, fun illustrations by Alan & Lea Daniel, the husband and wife team who have illustrated other works by Munsch.

The illustrations will rope readers in as quickly as the story when they see the teacher teaching reading in Amy's bed (the students hold a copy of "Get Out of Bed!" themselves, creating a fun reflection-in-the-mirror effect that sharp-eyed readers will love), Amy's nose being painted during art class, and the wonderful paintings of Amy's teacher trying to WAKE THAT GIRL UP!!

For any child who is a night owl (or, at least not an early bird) this book is a must.

Man, I love anything with crazy visions in the sky - particularly the first chapter of the Biblical book Ezekiel - but the vision in this book is a neat thing to read about too. I just don't get why the buffalo was referenced at the end. Must be a Native American custom to end all stories with some mentioning of a buffalo.

I'm sorry to say I still like non-sacred dogs more than sacred dogs, but I have a very good reason for doing so. Sacred dogs are much more expensive.

My kids loved seeing the principal, lunch ladies, gym coaches, and teachers chase a gingerbread kid around the school in this book. The story is entertaining (with some repeating phrases kids liked to say along with the book) and the ending was a good surprising twist. The illustrations are REALLY cute and appealing. This book's well worth the money.

I learned how to read from the "Dick & Jane" books....1960's They are fun to read. This is why I purchased this book and other "Dick & Jane" books for my school age son. I just received the book(s) in the mail two days ago. My son has picked up on the words and stories very quickly. His confidence has built up in the last two days...he enjoys reading these books. He will be reading these books all summer long. When he starts Kindergarten in September, i'm sure his school teacher will be impressed. BRING THESE BOOKS BACK INTO THE SCHOOLS!
