The Petsiters Vacation Special
By: Tessa Krailing

Sam and Matthew are friends. They are trying to agree on a vacation to a farm. Mrs. Parkin is Matthew's mom. Sam and Matthew like cowboys and are adventurous.
The plot of this story is Matthew's parents are trying to figure out a vacation for the summer. They wanted to go to Disneyland but it was too expensive. The kids decided to go to Marsh farm for their vacation. It turned out to be a big adventure, they had lots of fun learning how to care and feed the animals.
The setting is at a farm durring a hot summer day the time is around the end of July.
The theme of the story shows you that going to a farm can be just as much fun as going to a theme park, because you can learn a lot about animals on a farm and it would be less expensive then going to a theme park.
I like this story because being at a farm is a lot of fun especially if you are with your best friends, also you can learn a lot about different kinds of animals on a farm. Like what they eat or how they live. I would recommend this book because it is a very fun book to read.

my son started reading this series last year when he was in forth grade... he is a good reader but can easily be *turned off* when the book appears too hard (ie words too small...too many pages...picture on the cover too seriious) he really enjoyed this book from cover to cover and actually did a report on it in school... i like that the series is in paper back (it saves money)...i like that some are *special* titles and are a bit longer (it encourges him to read longer books than normally he would) he likes that they are about children solving problems/mysteries.. and that they have animals in them... this book, and the others have been something to look foward to for him

A really good book!

The projects in the book are easy to do and the results are very impressive. This book covers some basic techniques and provides patterns for these projects. Each are illustrated with color photographs and step-by-step descriptions. If you are looking for an in-depth discussion on wood, tools, and sharpening techniques, this isn't for you. If you are looking for some easy projects to start off with, buy the book!!

If you are just starting out in the craft, this is an excellent book to start with. The book illustrates and gives step by steps on a wide range of woodcarving techniques. These include relief, 3-dimensional, and pierced carving. Each project includes the recommended dimensions, wood type, and a list of the tools needed to complete them. There are also small sections describing tools, carving techniques, and methods for transferring patterns. These do not go into great detail, but enough to give you the general idea.

Just a note on woodworking books in general - Once general technique for carving is covered, there is little else that can be taught by text. One has to actually carve the wood ;) No book will do that for you.

My 3 1/2yr old princess loving daughter really enjoys this book & I like that it teaches good values - kindness, caring etc. The words are a little simple for a bedtime story, but will be great when she is learning to read by herself.

This is basicly a book of manners for a prereading crowd.
My husband bought this book for our 2 year old as a treat. It has very simple language, one sentence per page. It is things like A Princess is caring.
Our daughter loves it because she loves to repeat phrases and they are simple enough for her to repeat and feel like she is reading.
I feel that children are never to young to learn to read and love reading so this little book was a good fit for us.

Hey, Princesses are a lot smarter than we thought!

Pre-school and Kindergarten readers will enjoy learning about all the wonderful qualities that make up the character of a Princess. Parents will be delighted to know that Princesses are kind, caring, brave, polite, a dreamer and very smart! Belle loves to read lots of books, and that is very good to know!

Of course, wonderful illustrations make this an A+ for the Princesses in your own kingdom. What Is A Princess? is filled with some surprisingly wonderful lessons, and should not be missed!

Not normally pro-princess, but it teaches good values

I bought this book for my 5 year old pre-kinder daughter. She has somewhat of an interest in learning to read, but is very interested in Disney princesses, even though I have never been fond of that whole genre. The book shows that princess are brave, smart, kind, like to have fun, and other good values. Of course it is very short, but a step in the right direction.

I teach first grade and have used this book for several of my reading groups. Since many schools in California are required to teach reading and math most the day now, it's great to have the opportunity to bring in a little science. Excellent pictures, simple text, complex concepts... My students loved it!

Most young children would enjoy reading this book at home as well.

This is an excellent science book for young children. At each turn of the page they will find clear, bright, interesting photos that demonstrate the growth cycle of our amphibian friends.

The text is good. The sentences are simple and clear and easily understandable by toddlers on up. (A good read-aloud.)

Amazon has the reading age as 4 to 8, but the book is *Level 2*, which the book itself suggests for children in the 6-8 age range.

Five Stars. We like this little book. Good Read-aloud. Good information. Pictures and information appeal to all ages whether they can read or not. [They really did manage to find very attractive frogs-lol]

This fun little book is filled with big, detailed image of frogs from every stage, from egg to frog, It does an excellent job at showing the different levels of growth of tadpoles. There are some nice shots of tadpoles with legs starting to sprout.

There are no more than 16 words per page, making it reader-friendly for ages 5-7.

I fully recommend "Where Do Frogs Come From."

This is a fun, fun book to read together with a child - particularly one who has a favorite stuffed animal or blanket that they can't leave home without. (Which would be most of them). The repetetive refrain "where is my Bennie" will have both of you saying this together out loud over and over and laughing together. This is also a book that will be read together many times and cherished. It is highly recommended.

`Where is My Bennie?' is a delightful children's story of love for a stuffed animal. Authors April, Celeste & Ruby Robins do a wonderful job of sharing the adventure of Austin's mission to find his missing `Bennie'. Any child reading this will sympathize with Austin and yearn to know if Bennie is found and where Bennie is found. The underlying story is one of storytelling magic and delight for all children. I highly recommend this children's story as a delightfully told mishap turns into a `happy ending'.

Where is My Bennie? deals with the love between a young boy and his favorite stuffed toy. Austin cannot go to sleep without his best friend, Bennie. Austin travels to his grandparent's home in the country to spend the week. Almost immediately, Bennie becomes missing. Grandma has gone to town, so Austin and Grandpa must find the missing Bennie. Hunter, Grandma's dog, follows their every move. The book has seventeen colorful illustrations depicting country life and the love between family members. It is written by a mother, daughter, and daughter-in-law writing team who have extensive experience working with the school systems. If a child has a favorite stuffed animal, he will love Where is My Bennie?

I would also recommend that you be on the lookout for ¿Dónde está Mi Bennie? which is the Spanish Language Edition of Where is My Bennie? It should go on sale before the end of the year, 2007. It is an exact Spanish translation of the English version: thereby, allowing a page by page comparison of the two languages for any age student.

I bought these books (Who's Making That Mess/Smell/Noise) for my then 18 month old son for Christmas. At first we would read the story and lift the flaps to see what was there. Now he loves to look for the semi-hidden yellow duck and white mouse on each page. As soon as he masters that, we can go through each page and find the item that the critter under each flap was looking for to make such a mess. This book has kept him entertained for a month so far and there is still room to grow. I highly recommend these books.

My two year old absolutely adored this book, and we had to read it hundreds of times. It includes two of his favorite elements - lifting a flap and finding something hidden - and it is well written enough to keep adults charmed throughout countless re-readings.

I have had this book since I was two. When I was small I used to sit on my dad's knee and he would read the book. Then I would open the flaps on the pages, and help dad to make the funny smell noises. Now of course I am more mature than that, and I read the book for my two year old sister. There are two people in the book, Ben and Annabelle, and there are lots of animals making smells. Some are nice smells, but the best ones are the nasty smells, pee-youuu!

My 18 month old boy can't get enough of this book. He loves the illustrations and Benny the dog. I have read it so many times that I can recite it without looking and yet I still enjoy it. I have always wondered why my dog barks. Milgrim doesn't tell us why, just acknowledges the question. Some things are meant to be mysteries. I highly recommend this book for children and their parents.
