Charming text and stunning illustrations make this book an absolute must for bedtime reading. "Good Night Moon," meet "Sleepy Sun,"... another classic bedtime story! Children will be enchanted with the verse and the illustrations. I could frame every page and decorate a child's room with them! Sunny and bright, the warm colors reflect the love and warmth of that special feeling of snuggling in bed with your child and a good book as the sun grows sleepy at the end of the day.

My son absolutely loves it. The first day we got I was looking through it and read a couple of pages. Well my little guy(10 mths at the time) waddled over and stood in front of me as I showed him the book and read through it. That's the first time he had ever really took an intrest in the books I was reading him. The first book is all torn up with pages missing but I still read it to him and he knows which book it is and brings it to me every day. So today I finally found a replacer on Amazon, can't wait till it arrives.

I love to read to my six month old, and this is a favorite. He seems to like it because he sits still and stares at the pages, most books he just tries to grab. I love the illustrations and the story itself. I would recommend this book because it's simple and short so you won't mind reading it over and over.

This is an excellent book for children up to the age of eight. It is an excellent book for begining or early readers and for those not so early. It teaches by repeating common words over and over on each page. Each one rhythming with the next.

The book is full of colorful illustrations. The bugs work together to build their custom home using things people throw away every day.

It is a book that can be enjoyed over and over. I would also recommend their companion book "Snow Bugs" which is a continuation of the first story about the bugs' first winter in their home.

My child loves this book!!!

We love this book. We are fans of Jon Buller and Susan Schade. The rhythm of the book and the simple words keeps my child coming back for this and other books like it. Children love rhythm and things repeated over and over again. This gives them confidence. For my little one knowing the words by heart makes him feel like real reader. We have All the "Toad on the Road" Books. My 7 year old likes to read them to his brother.

This concise, well-organized book enables aspiring sportswriters to understand the mechanics of superior sports coverage, and lays out what they will need to know to effectively contribute to a publication. The book is excellent at describing not only what reporters face when covering events, but also how to translate knowledge so that editors and general readers get the most from the story. The book is especially good at providing tips on preparation, and it deftly diagrams how different types of stories are composed. The book also includes many useful definitions, abbreviations, and checklists. All in all, Steve Craig's book is just what a young writer needs to bring his or her talents from aspiration into print.

Spot the Dog books are a favourite with my girls. They love the simple stories that they can relate to (hiding, baking a cake, playing with others etc) and the lift-the-flaps always bring screams of delight even though we've read them many many times. As they grow I'm sure they'll be one of the books they learn to read with. The words are simple and the font easy to read. Lovely books to cuddle up with your children on your lap. They are also big enough to hold up and read to them as they sit in back seat on car trips.

Spot does it again! That dog named Spot shows little ones how he goes to school and talks about his day. From singing with Helen and Tom, to painting a picture, to reading stories, Spot let my son know it would be fun to go to preschool. We purchased the book right before my son started attending preschool and as we read it, he told me about his day, which includes storytime, painting and singing, as well as playing on the playground. The lift-the-flap books engage little ones to keep on reading. It is a nice way to end the day and naturally talk about what happened at preschool that day. Way to go Spot!

Spot discovers that school is fun and interesting in this flap book by Eric Hill. After a warm greeting by his teacher and classmates, Spot hides (under one of the flaps found on every page) when it's time to sing a song. "I can't sing," he says. There is no resolution to this (maybe some pages were torn out of my copy?), but Spot soon finds plenty to do as the disjointed plot reveals Spot's fun activities at school. These include finding dress-up clothes in a small playhouse, spelling the word "DOG" with blocks, story time by the teacher, playing teeter-totter (Spot is cleverly hidden under a flap that is part of a tree), and painting paw prints. When his mom picks him up and asks, "How was school, Spot?" he answers with a resounding "Great!" Twenty-two brightly colored pages showing Spot enjoying school after some initial uncertainty.

Wow! It makes perfect sense to me that the author of this super entertaining adventure was a story editor and assistant film producer in Hollywood. As I was reading Stanley And The Magic Lamp, I kept thinking that it would make a really cute family film that every age would enjoy.

When Stanley Lambchop finds a magic lamp, he also finds a genie who can grant him wishes.

How would getting all your wishes granted change your life? Beyond anything you can imagine will all come to pass in Jeff Brown's wonderful book. This is a must-read for your imaginative child.

The charming illustrations by Scott Nash add to the fun of Stanley's adventure.

I read a good book called Stanley and the Magic Lamp. Stanley finds a lamp and wishes to get answers for his homework. Then he gets an askit basket and puts his paper in and gets his answers. This book is very entertaining and funny. Read the book to see what happens when Arthur, Stanley's little brother, and Stanley make more wishes from the genie. See what happens when he starts wishing for bigger wishes.

We began with Flat Stanley when reading chapter books to my young son, then we began reading the whole set of 'Stanley Books'. We have loved them.

The books are fun enough and interesting enough to keep the attention of a four year old over the course of several nights. There are a few pictures and they are charmingly illustrated.

In this book, the plot is centered around Stanely and a magic lamp. The story is fun and although a fantasy type book, easy for even young children to grasp.

Enjoy.

This is a cute story about a frog name Mr. Jeremy Fisher, who have friends over for dinner and he figured, he should catch some minnows for the. While was fishing he has quite a bit of an adventure.

Another beautifully illustrated short story for children by Beatrix Potter. A good choice to read out loud to little kids during story time. I quite enjoy the short story and it's one of the stories a kid really got to have in their reading list as they are growing up.

I was given this book when I was ten, and it is now a favorite of my three year old. She especially loves that Mr. Jeremy's house is "slippy-sloppy" and that he likes getting his feet wet. The story is fun and funny, and Potter's use of language is intelligent. This is the kind of book that inspires children to be better speakers. Any children's writer who uses words like "disconsolately" is five stars to me!

Like so few of Potter's books, this one actually makes sense and lives up to its legend. The gags are still funny for starters and there are few, if any, arcane references to long gone trivia. The minor characters are even fun.
My own favorite thing about Jeremy Fisher is that he is eaten, then spit back out because his rain gear doesn't taste good to the fish who's swallowed him! How many books do you know where the main character is eaten? Good stuff.

This cute little book was written and illustrated by the great Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) in 1906, the eighth of her many wonderful stories. This book tells the tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, a frog who decides to go fishing for minnows, so that he can have his friends over for dinner. But, Mr. Fisher never anticipated the many problems his little fishing excursion would run into!

Overall, I found this to be a very cute story, and a lot of fun to read to my little one. Mr. Fisher's damp home is funny, as is his aplomb in facing his problems. This is a great book, that I highly recommend!

Indeed, the book alone is worth the price of this deck and book set, created by Llewellyn to showcase the author. If you don't have Janet's book already, here is a great chance to obtain what has been a very hard to find publication, originally issued by the author herself. The book and deck here go well together, but Janet Berres brings great things to Tarot with her insights, and her expertise will prove very valuable to anyone interested in continuing their studies ~ or building the perfect Tarot Library.

I bought this Tarot kit -- book and Universal Tarot deck, with bag -- mostly to have a second Tarot deck that I could keep at work for studying during my lunch break. I figured that the book would be fairly lightweight, and for the most part I was right.

The title, "Tarot Kit for Beginners," just about sums it up as far as the book is concerned. The card meanings were very basic, and I was a bit disappointed that only upright meanings were given. To its credit, the book does touch upon all the essentials a beginner needs to know, keeping a Tarot journal, etc., and it even delves a bit into correspondences with numerology and astrology before getting into card meanings.

If I were judging this kit on the basis of everything else that's out there, I would only give it three stars (a generaous three at that), since there are a lot meatier starter kits out there. But if you're just looking to wet your whistle on Tarot and see if it's for you, then for the price this kit is for you. Judging the kit on that basis alone, I give it four stars.

I count among my friends some of the most eminent and skilled Tarot professionals in the world, and I can say without hesitation that Janet Berres is the most amazing Tarot reader I know. Her "Your Guide to the Tarot" is not only the finest introduction to the art of reading the cards, it remains an enduring textbook for readers of all skill and experience levels.

Long a classic among professionals her little book is now paired with Lo Scarabeo's "Universal Tarot" (a stunning rendering of the classic images) and packaged as "Tarot Kit for Beginners." But don't let the title fool you. Ms Berres' offering to the world of Tarot literature will continue to educate and inspire Tarot enthusiasts long after our generation has drawn the Death card for the last time.

Janet Berres has done a fabulous job of making the Tarot seem easy! Well, maybe not easy, but definitely something the average person can do. I have always looked up to Tarot readers, never thinking I could do it myself, but after using Berres' kit, I am beginning to learn the art myself. I am enjoying the background of Tarot, as well as learning a lot about myself.

Thank you for all your work to make Tarot understandable for everyone!

Peter Sis, who has written and illustrated the Caldecott Honor books "Tibet Through the Red Box" and "Starry Messenger: Galileo Galilei," wrote "The Three Golden Keys" for his daughter, Madeline. The book begins with a handwritten letter to Madeline, explaining that while she was born in New York, in the New World, he wants to share with her the mystery of Prague, the city in which he was raised. So he spins the story of how his hot-air balloon was blown off course in a violent storm and landed in the Prague of his childhood. There he finds his wa yto his old home, only to find the house dark and three rusty padlocks on the door. He knows that he must find the keys to unlock the locks to get inside. Fortunately his old black cat shows up and as the man follows her through the winter streets of his childhood, they are filled with memories.

Three times in this story, as the seasons change, the man comes to a special place from his childhood, and in each place an old Czech legend is revealed to the man and his cat. The first is the legend of the night Bruncvik, the second the story of the Golem, and the third the story of Mast Hanus and his astronomical clock. Attached to each legend is a golden key, and once the man has collected them the city comes alive and he goes to open the door to his house and see what magical things await him there. Just be forewarned that when you kids read this book that they might be disappointed that their parents were not born in a distant land (fortunately I am safe on that score, although I have never been back to the city of my birth, but I would like to go, although by something other than a hot-air balloon).

The cover illustration for "The Three Golden Keys" does not give you any real indication of the visual delights inside. My only real issue with this book is that the three legends are each told in a single double-page spread, with twenty-four illustrations (approximately one-inch by one-and-a-half-inches each) surrounding the text section, which has captions for each (unnumbered) drawing after an introduction, surrounding a giant drawing of a key. Given that the rest of the book consists of full-page or double-page illustrations rich in detail and full of color, the little comic strip versions of the legends suffer a bit in comparison, although they are as finely detailed as the rest of the art work. Besides, it would not bother me if this book was two or three times longer to work everything in because you are not going to get tired of Sis's artwork.

This dark and intricately illustrated book is simply excellent. The art work in it is fantastic and it gives a magically haunting overview of growing up in Prague. It has a magic cat with glowing eyes that walks the young traveler through the streets of his homeland. The drawings are rich with story and intricate with legend. It is an intense book, and some of the legends are dark and spooky. I wouldn't recommend it for children under the age of six, but for children who are just awakening to legend, history, and fairy tale, this is a must. I personally think it is a must for adults as well - I keep my copy on the coffee table because, really, the art as well as the story is of that caliber and it makes a great coversation piece. The book also has a fascinating development story, as well. Peter Sis was apparently encouraged and motivated by Jackie Onasis, working at Double Day at the time, to produce this wonderful book for his young daughter. Sis wanted to produce a piece for his daughter so that she would always know where her daddy came from. Jackie O. helped make Sis' dream a reality. It really is a fine piece of art, history, and story.

this book opened new doors to children's literature for my family

I bought this book for my daughter when she was only three. Yes, way too young in some ways, but it immediately became her favorite book because it can be read on so many levels and the pictures carried her imagination to new places. It's the story of a man who somehow magically goes back in time to his home in Prague when he was a child. This introduced a sense of history, of other places defined by their unique history, even a sense of old Europe, to my daughter. You can read the book on many levels because it has small, detailed stored written in boxes and these can be saved for when a child gets older. It's really a magical book for any age. We've gone on to be Peter Sis fans and enjoy all of his stories. Some of them are little masterpieces.
