Horrible Harry is a good book because Harry gets in a lot of trouble. Once you read all the books you will see that he is not very horrible at all. His books have lots of information. Horrible harry has a lot of exciement in his books and he gets scared when he gets in trouble. I wish I can have as much fun as he does.

Horrible Harry and the Dungeon is a story that gives a realistic view of young children. In this story Harry, like most children his age, lets his imagination run wild. The principal has instituted a detention room for children who do not follow the rules. Harry and his buddy have decided that the detention room must be a dungeon. When presented with an opportunity to visit the dungeoun Harry can't resist. Horrible Harry allows the reader to follow as Harry learns a valuable lesson and has a change of heart. This is a great story for young children who will be able to relate to all the characters in Room B.

I remember reading this book to my children a few years ago. It's a fun, imaginative book. The sparse illustrations are perfect for the tone of this book.

Harry is such a cute, lovable little character. You will fall in love with him and his horse. Highly recommended.

This book is very helpful for beginning readers. Most of the words are on the Dolch sight word list of words which should be recognized instantly in order for reading to flow smoothly. The quiet nature of the story makes it appropriate for a bedtime story or for developing reading skills.

This book is so simple and cute, and the illustrations are so child friendly, your little one will love it, as my 20-month old does! There is a short sentence and picture on each page. For example: "I love you sun." and "I love you fish." Can't say enough about the great illustrations - colors are vibrant, images appear so simple, but so beautiful! It is so Tomie!

Gotta get a book for a baby or a young toddler, this is it.
Simple text, almost lyrical. Predictable pictures that allows an older sibling to "read" to a new brother or sister. Every person I haven given this to has loved it. And my intense son, the most wired baby ever, was addicted to this book.

Buy a few for your baby-shower reserve..... may I also suggest Jamberry?

There is no plot to this book. The words are simple (usually no longer than five letters) and the illustrations are full of color and vitality. Basically, children from all different cultures express what they like in the world by saying, "I love you, ___ (fill in the blank). For example, "I love you, fish"; "I love you, sun". The book, though as infantile as it is, has a subtle message about caring for others and the environment. Infants and young toddlers seem to enjoy this book, but I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone over the age of two.

I just loved this entire series as did my 7 year old daughter. The story revolves around three girls who are living with their aunt while their parents are overseas. They play, create and have lovely, lighthearted adventures. Each girl is given her own unique personality, her own style. The illustrations are so sweet, so detailed. My only regret is not having bought this series in hardcover as my daughter has read and re-read it so many times.

My six year old who is just beginning to read chapter books loved this book and we are searching for more in the series. Three 9 year old cousins are living with their Aunt Lucy for a year while their parents are touring the world with the ballet. They start a cookie making business which leads them to meet all kinds of people in their neighborhood. Aunt Lucy owns a flower shop and has a charming old house and the girls live in her attic. Each of the girls has a very creative and unique personality and they get themselves into all kinds of adventures. My six year old girl loves the books.

My second grade daughter loved this series! These were books that she would read on her own without having to be encouraged to do so. When she took a break from reading the books, she would use her imagination to play out parts of the stories. There are very few books that she's done that with. My one piece of advice with this series is that the first book (In Aunt Lucy's Kitchen) should be read first. It introduces the characters that are in the rest of the books. After that, I'm not sure that it's crucial which order the stories are read until the last 2 books. They should definitely be saved for last. They deal with the cousins leaving Aunt Lucy and then returning for Aunt Lucy's wedding. I'm a big fan of Cynthia Rylant's and these books lived up to her reputation.

I LOVE this book! I did a literature box on this book for a class and fell in love with the characters. It's about 3 cousins who live w/ their aunt for the summer while their parents are on a ballet tour. They go through different adventures, facing each one with courage, ingenuity, and wit. They contain great character ed models. I would recommend to any 1-6 grader(especially girls) who like a good read.

I was looking for a short review of what I learned about psychology in college, and this book was an excellent choice! It uses lots of diagrams and cartoons and drawings to illustrate and elucidate ideas. The book introduces you to some of the major thinkers in psycbology (BF Skinner, Freud, Pavlov, Piaget, William James, and others. It also outlines the basic schools of psychology (Behavioral,psycho-dynamic, developmental, cognitive). You also learn techniques to overcome deviant behavior like desensitizing and counter-conditioning. You also get re-acquainted with the differences between psychology, psychiatry, and sociology.

This book is a quick and entertaining read, and it will probably perk your interest to read more in the field.

'Introducing Psychology' - Very Good!

Introducing Psychology by Nigel C. Benson This book is a good overall introduction to the subject of Psychology. It introduces the reader to the many different schools that have contributed to the field. Explaining how the teachings of one school relate to those of another. How they overlap, how they contradict and most interestingly how their interactions have in many cases given rise to the growth and development of entirely new schools of Psychology - such as Social Psychology, Humanism, Developmental Psychology and Cognitive Psychology (just to mention a few). Nigel C. Benson seems to have a real talent for making a very broad and complex science (which is what psychology is) accessible, enjoyable and understandable to the layman. I found the book easy to follow, interesting and most importantly, 'fun to read.' I recommend it to anyone who is interested in developing an understanding of this fascinating area of human research.

This book gives you a general idea about what psychology is and about different streams/schools in this field. It is very useful for beginners as it helps one create a skelett of psychology, because it's brief(not too much information, just enough to get you started). The illustrations are reinforcing the data. If you want to start in this field, you can do so by reading this book(max2-3h).

Enjoyable and complete introduction to psychology

Introducing Psychology tries to give a basic overview on what psychology is all about. It starts with a general definition and sets off on a trip through the history of psychology and its numerous sections, including: Psychoanalysis, Behaviourism, Biopsychology, Social Psychology and Humanism. The main figures that had an influence on the course of psychology are all briefly discussed. The impact of names like Pavlov, Maslow, Jung and Freud is described to more extend.

The story brought by the author is easy to digest without actually neglecting the more difficult concepts. Because this book must clearly be seen as a first glimpse into the fascinating world of psychology, it does not dive too deep into the subjects, but highlights the basic ideas. Further reading is clearly encouraged by making strong recommendations for books to read. As extra further information on how to start the study of psychology is given.

The main assets of this book -and the whole series for that matter- are the tongue-in-cheek illustrations. Although sometimes the depictions are quite absurd, they do help in bringing the reader better understanding of the concepts explained in the text. But even more important, they make this clever book a joy to read.

Introducing Psychology is a must read for everyone who shows interest in the area of psychology and its applications.

Three young kids--Julian, his little brother Huey, and best friend Gloria, look through the Most-Wanted posters at the post office. They decide they'd like to investigate crimes and criminals. Later, in a parking lot, they see a dog locked in a hot car. A passerby says, "That's a crime!" and they know their calling has begun. Afterwards, they rescue a lost toddler from playing too near a water fountain. This story is too funny because the kids are so innocent: they go to a bar to look for crime, and are spotted by someone who knows their dad. Oh, boy, are they in trouble now! Next, a young man working in a fast food shop matches the description on a Most Wanted poster. They go to the police chief, who in turn, asks them for help in identifying this possible criminal, who turns out to be the chief's son! This delightful story is well-written, realistic and interesting, and depicts characters still in the wonderful freshness of youth. A beginning chapter book for hungry early readers, Diane Allison's illustrations help depict the African-American neighborhood, such as a scene in the park under the MLK statue.

You should read this book!

When you are a kid growing up in the US, pizza is undoubtedly your favorite food...a definite treat that instantly brings a huge smile even from a tear-stained kindergartener. Mr.Sanzari captures this feeling beautifully, and reminds us adults what it was like when we were young...how we loved to be in the kitchen watching and helping mother cook. In fact I was a student of Mr.Sanzari, and remember very well how he appreciated and accepted the emotions of children..their wonders, disappointments, inconsistencies, and joys. This book proves that he is still unchanged. I am greatly looking forward to his next book.

The characters are delightful, the plot expands with charm and insight, every word is exactly the right word, and to change even a simple punctuation mark would be a crime. The King of Pizza is one of these books. Ah, to be ruled by such a wise and caring king, to have subjects as generous as Salvatore, the pizza chef, to have a national decree of pizza every Saturday night! Life is good and The King of Pizza in my lap has made it even better. Thanks, Mr. Sanzari and Mr. Hurst. Keep cooking up more magic.

This book does what most cookbooks don't: it assumes that you really know absolutely NOTHING about cooking. For those of us for which that is true, this book is a life-saver. It has recipes for the most basic things (how to hard-boil an egg, for example); it gives you a suggested grocery list for your first shopping trip to stock your new kitchen; it give invaluable advice about choosing fresh food and how to store things. As a recent college grad in my first apartment, I consult this book almost daily (I didn't know that fish, if it's fresh, should have NO smell, or that eggs that have gone bad will float). A perfect graduation gift (or just a gift for someone you sense is really suffering in the kitchen).

No nutritional information!!

I really like this book, especially the sections on organizing and shopping. However no nutritional information is listed for the recipes. It may not matter to you but I like to watch my calorie and fat intake and I have family members that watch their sodium. This book is great for comfort food though and who really cares about the calorie count when you are missing your mother's cooking!

This book helped me a lot during my first business trip to U.S. I rent an apartment, then I found the kitchen appliances and equipments did not resemble at all to the ones I used to in my home country.... Why was "F" written on the oven instead of "C"?

No Asian food is sold in that small town, and I had no idea about anything the grocery store sold, which looked like some kind of food from outer planet. I threw away the first dish I cooked without eating, although I was not a bad cook in Japan. Then I found this book and studied it in detail. I learned how to use what the Americans call "stove", and how to shop in a grocery store.

I had seen many business people from Asia get thin and nervous because they couldn't eat. I was able to stay healthy in the new environment by this book and of course I suceeded the assignment!

THE MAGIC IN ME provides a great way for a parent, grandparent, or any caring adult, to interact and encourage children to think well of themselves. As adults we know that sometimes the world can be an overwhelming place for a young child. A place where everyone seems bigger, or faster, or smarter. Sometimes it's hard for a child to find his or her own place, a place that is comfortable and safe.
THE MAGIC IN ME reminds us how each child is special and unique. It helps every young reader understand the wonderful gifts he or she possesses within. It assists them in feeling good about themselves, while making sense of their world.

I love that this book shows kids that they all have something special to offer the world, even if it's just simple.
I think it's great to be able to read it with kids and tell them what is special or magical about them -- kids don't forget that.
It's great as a classroom tool.

Maggie Moran does an excellent job of showing kids that they are each special in their own special way! Max's struggle to realize his own "magic" teaches children that everybody has something different to offer. Whether its being a good reader, a good helper, or making people laugh!
The illustrations are colorful and show real kids in real situations! I read this book to my two year old now, and I know she'll get more and more enjoyment out of it in years to come!
