This book really helped me to understand why red strings were so in vogue these past few years and why Christian music and books have invaded B&N. It also gave me insight into why our political system is being overrun by religion. Einstein is a professor of media studies and a former MTV Networks exec. so she really knows her stuff in terms of marketing and how it infiltrates our consciousness. She does a great job in explaining how the lines between religion and popular culture have become blurred. While the book provides a great analysis of the growth in Christian media, the real payoff is in the chapter that compares Joel Osteen to Oprah Winfrey.
Also, don't let the picture on the cover confuse you. It's not just about Christianity. All faiths are affected by the marketing of religion and the chapter on Kabbalah (with a great explanation of the Madonna influence) is truly entertaining.

=An amazing display of flat out great designing=
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 1998-01-04
This book, reasonably priced for the quality of the photographs in it, is a masterful showcase of design. Displaying product design, packaging, brochures, and logos, it is a great guide through the changing world of design. Unlike many books, it quotes the designing firm, and, more importantly, what they were attempting to accomplish with the design. It teaches the budding designer much about the future in the field. I highly reccommend this book, for the future designer, or for someone who just plain appreciates good art.

The graphis series is legendary amongst designers and graphics.
I entirely enjoy these books, especially the one on brochure design (note also the annual reports one) as they offer a broad overview over contemporary design streams.Through especially well chosen examples graphis shows the tops of visual design.
The books are very well done and are a good inspiration source (not copy source;-)) on how to present visual content.Should not be missing in a well sorted designers library.

As a 20 year veteran to the meetings and trade show industry I found this book to be helpful in all aspects of exhibit/trade shows. If you are a novice who is just starting out to the person who needs some help getting new ideas for their annual trade show with an exhibit that takes up half the show floor. Maryls the author is very informative, her information in the book is easy to read, comprehend and most important IMPLEMENT. You will see results. She also covered a wide variety of topics and gives statics and examples so you can truly learn how to make your trade show dollars count. I have several books on trade shows and marketing but because of the easy layout I find myself picking up this one the most. This is a great bargin for the amount of USEFUL information you will receive.

Thanks Maryls!

Very Focused B2B Information
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2005-11-16
In this thorough guide, authors Martin P. Block and Tamara S. Block delve into business to business marketing research, describing its component elements and explaining how to apply research techniques. They don't consistently discuss research in the context of the marketing department, so you should probably have an idea of how research fits into your strategy before you open this book. Still, its narrow focus and intense expertise makes it appealing and valuable, if academically written. Block and Block describe how to manage research and find information. They explain how to use customer databases, analytical tools, survey techniques and financial values. This book is not light reading, but we recommend it to anyone interested in or working with marketing research.

This fast-paced and tightly written tour-de-force cuts a swathe through the often mystifying world of advertising and consumption. Both students and veterans of the industry will find its sparkling insights open a multitude of intellectual doors. The contribution of the talented Dr Macrury is worthy of particular note: he is swiftly becoming an academic force to be reckoned with.

Catherine Gudis' Buyways is a unique and intrinsically fascinating history of the advertising billboard industry in America. Of immense value for the academic study of American business history, Buyways is also highly recommended reding for travelers and non-specialist general readers interested in wayside advertising and highway history. From legal battles between environmentalists and business interests, to the involvement of artists and behvioral scientists in billboard presentation and design, Buyways provides an intriguing, original, seminal history of travel routes and advertising format choices.
