Understanding the e-customer: sounds familiar BUT going through the book gives us the feeling we've just been in the parallel universe of the Matrix surrounded by the bright colours and sounds of MTV. It has a life of its own, truly has captured the soul of the e-customer. After the journey (reading) we are left with star trek expectations and what's wrong with that? Once someone said `ideas do change the world', well here it is a book full of those. If Mckeown truly is a guru that makes me a follower.

Mr. Fombrun is the reputation expert. In this book he and Mr. Van Riel do a great job of ilustrating corporate reputation in simple and clear terms. The use of graphs, examples, metrics, and references to other authors makes the content very credible and useful. This book serves as a guide for quickly applying the concepts of reputation to any organization. It's very easy to read. Don't expect deepness, it's more of a excellent introductory text for those unfamiliar with the topic of corporate reputation.
What Your CEO Needs to Know!

Finally something I can use to convince my CEO that reputations can and should be managed! The book provides a comprehensive overview of the critical success factors of reputation management and discusses a number of interesting case studies to underline key points. Though its a complex subject the book reads pretty easy and I could relate most of it to my daily work as a communications professional. To me, the bottom line is I can now start a discussion in my firm about the need for managing reputation and use solid arguments based on both research and other companies' best practice. It seems that being able to explain what drives reputation and who should be involved in managing it is half the work...

I am, in fact, Nicola Ackland-Snow's sister, and you may think that because of this, my review would be biased, but in fact I thought it was amazing. I'm not an artist, actually, I'm useless, unlike Nicola, but this book provided a different perspective to this kind of art. I really liked it!

Definitive and Fun Guide to Circus Sideshow Banner Art!

This terrific book celebrates the (now) lost world of Circus Sideshow banner art. This book includes illustrations for such classic Circus Sideshow acts as the Alligator-Skin Girl, the Amazing Eeka, the Sword Swallower, the Rubber-Skin Man, and, of course, everybody's favorite cover girl, Sweet Marie, the world-renowned Fat Lady. This book also includes biographical information about the artists who created these amazing works of folk art such as Snap Wyatt, Johnny Meah, Fred Johnson, and Jack Cripe. This book is a surprisingly serious treatment of this little-known corner of the folk art world. (The authors convincingly link various visual elements in the sideshow banners to 17th Century Flemish portrait painting and Japanese wood-block prints!) This is a really fun book that every folk art fan will really love. The book contains 70 color illustrations and a total of 35 pages of essays. Incidentally, although I bought this book because of my interest in folk art, this book will also certainly appeal to circus enthusiasts and collectors of circus memorabilia.

I am the President of Cohesion Inc, and also a part-time course director in the marketing faculty of the Schulich School of Business, York University in Toronto, Canada. Our mission is to build strong brands and businesses through transforming them into high performance marketing systems.
Leslie de Chernatony makes a valuable contribution to marketing and business literature in this excellent book. He articulates thoughtful and compelling arguments for considering brands from both internal and external perspectives, and he drives home the importance of organizational alignment as a critical means for building strong brands and businesses. Although some areas of the book may delve too deeply into "the theory" for some readers tastes, it is also full of practical ideas and tools that will prove useful for both new and more experienced practitioners alike.

In this second edition, Professor de Chernatony provides an authoritative and up to date analysis about the core ideas and processes involved in building and strengthening brands. The unique and robust model at the heart of the book is based on an important compilation of both consultancy and research work. A series of exercises and examples facilitate an understanding of the process involved in planning and implementing brand strategies. Both visionary and practical, this book makes the compelling case for balancing what happens inside the organisation with the tools for developing and delivering a coherent and integrated brand. This book is thus an invaluable reference for both marketing managers and academics alike.

I am in the process of establishing partnerships with our firm's suppliers and subcontractors so that we may improve the service that we provide to our customers. The first step in the process is to be sure that our suppliers and subcontractors understand the concept of partnering for a win-win agreement. "Getting Partnering Right" is by far the best explanation of what I am trying to accomplish that I have read. After an initial meeting, I ask our potential partner to read the book and to call me when he has read it.Without exception, all have stated that "Now I get it". In a follow-up interview it is very easy to tell if they really do "get it". So far I have purchsed 28 copies for distribution to potential partners and to some our own employees. In addition, some of our partners have purchased more copies for distribution within their own companies. Maybe this one should be rated 6 stars!!

This is, in a way, an exploitation book. The tagline on the cover says "20 ways to Reach More Customers and Build Revenue with Google Business Tools". It's a little bit of a stretch to include Google Apps, a set of online business applications, in this rubric, but author Greg Holden pulls it off convincingly by comparing the utility and cost of Google Apps with its Microsoft counterparts.
Where you might expect simply a rehash of Google's own extensive help files, it is apparent that Holden has put considerable effort into actually learning the various tools that Google makes available.
For example, he adds insights that an unsophisticated user might not pick up on, such as adding Google Talk to your own website to allow direct live interaction with your own customers and prospects. This might be old hat to experienced web marketers, but not to neophytes.
Holden covers a remarkably broad range as do the Google tools he covers. For each of Google's services, Holden provides a detailed description and lots of hints and tips.
Overall, this is a surprisingly informative book. Those not familiar with Google will find it helpful as an introduction to all of Google's services.

First, the best thing about this book in my opinion, is the price! 13 bux for a hard cover with full-coloured, glossy page reference book is just great value for money. Moreover you don't get to see advertisements like these anymore. This book makes me wish that I was born in the 60s!
Automobiles, undergarments (love the maidenbra lol), fashion, rock posters, foodstuffs, movie posters, electrical appliances (which are ingenius in its own right), cosmetic adverts... nostalgia, kitsch, witty descriptions and visual pleasure, as well as an obsession with space travel & hippy culture. It's really fun to flip through the book, I'm sure the graphic artists in the heydays had fun making them too (note: many adverts in the 60s are good ol' hand painted works of art). Only thing left to do now is to release a 2nd book 'cuz I sure don't mind more.

I'm writing this review to warn those that might be trying to decide between this book and the two other Taschen books of 60's ads- All-American Ads of the 60's (Midi Series) and All-American Ads of the 60's (Icons Series)- that all three contain basically the same content. The Midi series volume is huge and contains the most ads, but is also the most expensive. The Icons series is the most abbreviated and inferior to The Golden Age of Advertising, in that this edition (the one you're looking at now) is hardback and contains the best and funniest of the ads.
