I wrote my first shake node about 3 months before this dvd set came out, and only recently bought it.

I'm just through the first dvd, and already I've gotten my money's worth. It is produced very well with excellent descriptions of the base classes, as well as major member classes in the SDK. The lecturer is an apple employee and works with companies whom are developing nodes. He has examples beyond the materials that come in the Shake SDK and goes from theoretical to practical application seamlessly.

Normally on training DVDs, I watch them once, and I never have the desire to go back and watch them again, which prevents me from buying many training DVDs. This set is PACKED with information, and already I feel that I want to go back and listen to some parts again.

Be warned, if you do not know object oriented c++, then this is NOT for you. If you don't know c++, go pick up a programming book first.

I only wish that I had this dvd set BEFORE I began learning the Shake SDK.


My only real "problem" with this dvd set is that they only seem to talk about OSX development, if they incorporated more linux based development it would be better...

I cannot, however praise this product enough. If you have a desire to learn image processing, buy the Mac version of Shake 4.1, then buy this, and you'll be in heaven.

I not to experienced in C++ now, but think its very good stuff.
All step by step, with project creating on mac.

And as writen "PC only" - not only!, its DVD Video and can be viewed on big tv screen! Great :)

This book is really good and useful.
Then, it could be difficult to read for a beginner, because it states more of "how to work with Photoshop" than "how to use Photoshop".

If you have a good feedback of Photoshop, this book is fantastic to read.
The author show you many design tips and secret that you can re use to your own. But he does'nt swamp you with over-detailed et boring explanations 'à la kelby'
The companion CD contain all the files and the fonts used in the book..

I want to start with a statement that this book, although aimed at IT executives, contains valuable information for executives in any part of an organization. Project disaster can happen to anyone at anytime. All projects should be on-time and on-budget no matter where they exist. So where do you start? You start by having a copy of this book and read it from cover to cover, make notes, and review everything with your team.

You will begin with your strategy. What industry does not need to define a strategy? Anything from stating the problem, creating a solution, resource requirements, to return on investment, should come into play no matter what the project. IT executives tend to fall into this far more often than any other executive and this book addresses a number of the issues through example. What better teacher than projects that have not made the grade.

It has been said that Edison found thousands of ways that his inventions did not work and those so called failures were the teaching tools for the successes that followed. Any IT executive that has never reached the point of failure still has a lot to learn. Kozak-Holland presents project disasters where the reader may gain experience through learning what did not work, even though the procedures were put in place to prevent disasters. Following the book to the letter will not necessarily help to avoid disaster; it simply provides a road map to guide your judgment. For example, the author talked about avoiding percentages because peak periods are not taken into consideration. If percentages are used, then disasters are more than likely to occur. Good advice!

So what does this book provide for the reader? "Avoiding Project Disaster" is a plethora of information on how problems can interfere with a project and solutions for avoiding most of those problems. The key message is to monitor the project at all times and never let down your guard. The book will guide any IT executive through the project maze. If you are at all involved with managing projects, then this book is a necessary tool for your team. Do not start your next project without it.

When I first saw the title of this book I had to smile at the thought of the big IT projects with which I have been associated that subsequently sank as though they had run into an iceberg.

An example though of how this book approaches comparing the Titanic with an IT project: One way to get an advance notice of an iceberg ahead is to pull up a bucket of sea water and get its temperature -- it's colder around the iceberg. A sailor was assigned to do this. He was observed filling the bucket with tap water, as the rope he was given was too short to reach the sea. The IT meaning - set up tests, but make sure the tests are real and that the results of the tests are based on real data not what is easy to obtain or pre-determined by other means.

This book is an easy-reading, light-hearted approach to illustrating some real truths about how projects (not only IT projects) really work. You'll pick up a few ideas about why the last project was so late and over budget, and perhaps your next project will go better.

I am also a "Journey Facilitator" and have taken many people to meet their guides BUT, this is almost as good as live. In fact, while using this disk, I decended into trance faster than I have ever done so before, and deeper too. I find this CD remarkable and have recommended it whole heartedly to family and friends and recommend it to you (the reader) also.

It would be a real waste to pass this CD by if you're looking to improve yourself and your life and are on a spiritual quest, no matter what your religion. This is one of the ultimate self-help CD's that I've ever come accross.

Doug Gaines' 'Awakening God's Gifts' CD's are excellent and fantastic to listen to. His voice is golden and so uplifting! You can learn the proper way to meditate and relax by clearing all the stress out of your body just by listening to his voice. I felt so relaxed while hearing these CD's - the music is also wonderful and relaxing. Doug takes you through all the steps to improve your life, meet your Guides and teachers - who will help you on the path in life. After listening to his voice and following the simple and easy to understand directions, you will. believe me find that 'you, too, can be all' that you have dreamed of being in the Universe! Not only will you be able to heal yourself but will know how to heal others around you. Give yourself the best gift available and be prepared for all the positive and helpful changes that will occur within you and your whole life. I have listened to many recordings and Doug Gaines' CD's are the TOPS for awakening your spiritual/psychic gifts. Marilyn Hays

Great product! I bought this CD interested in mostly Morphosis' works, but found myself just as interested in the other houses featured on this CD. Great collection of projects with a whole lot of info on each. The panorama's were a great new way to display works of architecture.

I just got the second edition of the Planet Architecture Series and I like it even more then the first one. They improved their interactivity and added some new features like the ipix 3D panoramas. There are interviews with the architects on the CD as well, which i really enjoyed. very interesting!! This is a great addition to my architecture library. I can recommend this to everyone, who has a passion for modern architecture. Two thumbs up!!

I've studied a lot of languages on my own and have struggled with finding material for language self-study. THIS is by far the best material for studying Italian - interesting, fun, interactive, the perfect speed for pronunciation, and despite being Berlitz uses sound methodology - communicative method of teaching. I have tried Teach Yourself series(awful, speak too fast) and Italian Now (yawn!). Don't waste your money on anything else.

Excellent! The book and CDs are extremely helpful with my Italian classes. The different approach works well.

My ONE MONTH old has been listening to the tape for a week and loves it! She will lie on the floor contently until the story is over. She also likes the songs on side two. I put the tape player on the floor about 8 inches away and she will roll onto her side to listen.

All of the books that I have read say that the neural pathways for language are developed in the first 6 months. That is why I let my daughter listen to the tape now. I also plan to buy the Spanish version. I wish that more of the books in this series came with cassettes.

As for content, I took intensive French in college and the quality of the teaching materials in this pack are excellent for the age range that Berlitz recommends.

I bought this set for my children (ages 2 and 4). Our experience with this set has been wonderful. The kids both enjoy the songs and the story and have learned LOTS of vocabulary. In fact, we have been using the cassette in the car for about a month, and they are now able to repeat the story, sing the songs, and have learned all of the vocabulary presented in the dictionary. I would strongly recommend this set to anyone who wishes to introduce their children to the French language.

Steps you through techniques and projects -- from simplest to fairly complex. Many of the projects are stunning. Some are no-sew. This book is a 'must have' both for learning to work with and for getting inspired to use Angelina Fiber in many creative ways. A related video is also cool--focusing more on paper embelishment techniques -- quite complimentary: Simply Fused: The Magic of Angelina, Crystalina, and Fusible Film

This book which is out of print is wonderful - filled with great photographs and specific ideas for using this product. anyone interested in working with the fibers would do well to have this book.

Few are the scriptural literary efforts not subject to interpretive annhilation. While Thomas aKempis' "Imitation of Christ" may well be the authoritative work on behaving like the christians namesake, the Bhagavad Gita may well be the authoritative work on behaving like God himself. And for a new, high-tech millenium what better version than this CD-Rom.

Rich graphics, authentic music, recitations and the knowledge and fore-thought to truly guide through tumultuous times, the Bhagavad Gita is timelessly ensconced, replete with a wisdom as relevant today as it was, or will be, in any era.
