I absolutely adore these "Circle" books. I've read all of them & they are all wonderful stories...full of fun & mystery & good friends working together to solve the crime using a bit of magic to help them along. These books are hard to put down! I've been waiting patiently for the next book in the series so I went to the author's webpage & she says that the publishers are holding off on publishing the next book. In fact, I emailed her recently & she wrote back to say that books 5 & 6 are finished & she's about a third of the way into book 7! This is what she says on her website:

Alas, no news on the publication of the fifth and sixth (all written!)Circle and Cass Shipton adventures. If you are moved to write to Kensington Books, Inc. to say you enjoyed the first four adventures, it can't hurt, might help. My editor is Audrey LaFehr [...]

I've emailed twice already & maybe if we can get a letter writing campaign going, we'll be able to convince them to publish the rest of these great books! I've recommended this series to my friends & am having them email Kensington too. I honestly dont know why they're not getting published. It must be disappointing to Dolores to keep writing these stories & have Kensington drag their feet about getting them in print. I'm currently reading the books again & hope that one day soon I'll be able to find out what else Cass & her friends have been up to. So, please, if you're a big fan of the books, take a minute & send her editor an email letting her know much you've enjoyed the Circle series & that you want to keep going on lovely adventures with Cass & company! Maybe with some emails & a wee bit of magic, we'll soon be into a new mystery! I WANT MORE BOOKS! Thanks for letting me ramble but it's for a good cause! LOL!

I love this series of books! Good thrillers that don't give you nightmares or gross you out. The interaction between the circle of friends is engaging. Good for more than a few chuckles and the occasional belly laugh. I've stayed up half the night on more than one occasion because I couldn't put the book down. The Wiccan slant is accurate but not over done, so non-pagans should enjoy this read. My mother-in-law loves these books, too, and keeps asking me when more are coming out. According to the authors website, she's finished 2 more books and has started a 3rd. For some reason, they're not getting published! On the authors website, you can find an email address to pass on your support for this series of books to the publisher and ask for more! And if anyone has a clue as to why there's a problem with getting these books published, please share...because I'm completely baffled! UPDATE: on the author's website she states that she is no longer working with her old publisher and is looking for a new one. Let's hope she finds one very soon!

As usual, The Divine Circle is full of twists, turns, laughs and fun. This series of books was introduced to me by a friend, and I love them. Finally, friends who treat each other with respect, loyalty and life long contributions who enjoy the path they are given.

The books plot is fresh and unusual, which adds to Ms Riccio's outstanding writing.

I for one, can't wait for more.

As a life-long dog owner, I was so excited to read this book. Reading the puppy-training stories, brought those days right back to mind. The author does such a great job of humorously describing the antics of her puppy. Great coffee table book - you'll hear your guests laughing out loud. Super gift idea for any dog lover in your life!

I received this book as a gift for Christmas and couldn't put it down until I had finished it. The book is totally hilarious. The author describes pet ownership to a T. Even though I am a life long cat person, meow, I can so totally relate to the authors experiences. Great Book, a must read if you want to laugh hysterically. I hope the author keeps us up to date with another book about Dylan's antics.

I don't own a dog and I love this funny, witty and incredibly entertaining book of short stories about Ellice and her dog, Dylan. I have a cat, yet I can totally relate to the funny little things that go on between pet and owner. It's just that there are not many talented and creative pet owners who can compile all these beloved stories and turn them into a beautiful little book. I'll be anxiously awaiting a sequel!

A must read for dog lovers

I'll Give Up My FoxTrot When Pigs Fly

I have been a faithful FoxTrot reader for years. Roger, Andy and their kids Peter, Paige and Jason are always good for a reality check with a large dose of laughter. I've got two girls and let me tell you, I see a lot of my kids in Paige with, I believe, even a healthy dose of Jason thrown in. And they have Peter's bottomless stomach. Of course, they're faithful FoxTrot readers too. I used to read the strip to them, explain what was going on, but now they get it just fine and we three all laugh together. Then my girls try and explain the strip to their dad, who pretends he doesn't get it.

The FoxTrot folks are a great family, one we sort of got used to checking up on every day, so we took the news that Mr. Amend was going to cease daily distribution of his wonderfully funny people and turn his strip to Sunday only, with a bit of sadness. Still, we have these terrific FoxTrot books to keep us going with our FoxTrot fix. Mr. Amend is to be commended for his great gift to our culture and his great gift to so many lives. I truly believe a laugh a day, helps keep the blues away and the FoxTrot gang are always good for a laugh. Heck there are a lot of laughs in the FoxTrot books. I know, I have them all and I am, along with my girls and my hubby dear, eagerly awaiting the next one.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention, we don't have an iguana, but my girls do have a pet gecko and, you guessed it, his name is Quincy.

I've been a Foxtrot reader for a long time and personally I think there is something suspiciously wrong with people who don't find Bill Amend's characters funny as all get out. If you want a good laugh, check out Bill in your local newspaper, or better yet, get one of the Foxtrot books. They are all great, really, they are.

Like many of Mr. Amend's fans I'm a bit disappointed he's switching his strip to Sunday-only, but fortunately I can still read him daily in the Foxtrot books. Get them one and all and you can keep right on a laughing.

My friend Marjorie is a person who is very fond of chickens. She decorated her little rental cottage with a chicken/rooster motif. I sent her this book for her birthday, because I knew she would be the right person to appreciate it. She called and raved about the pictures in the book. She said she did not know there were so many different kinds of chickens. Marjorie was delighted, and I was pleased to have made her so happy. The is not a book for everyone. but in the right hands it is a joy.

As a breeder of rare breeds in the Illawara region of Australia, I enjoyed adding to my poultry library a book as unique as this one. If you enjoy chicken breeds & photos of them I would recommend this book. The author has used a photgraphic studio to capture & highlight features of chickens that would never have been appreciated in previous books. I had purchased his original 'Extraordinary Chickens' & was delighted to add this extra book. The text is succinct & correlates well with other chicken information in other books. I recommend this book to all poultry enthusiasts.

beautiful portraits of chickens

Review Date: 2007-01-09
This is a beautiful book with lots of high quality photos. The chickens are not presented the ordinary way (from one side) but let us see more realistic poses like stretching, crowing or flapping. There is not much information about the species, but you really don't need it in this book. Lots of other books gives you that information, but this is the only choise (as I see it) for this kind of chicken portrait photos. The book is a follow-up to Extraordinary chickens, and I think you should buy them both!

Really fun chicken book, but not a must have

This book is full of photographs of chickens. Not your typical chicken pictures mind you. You will see various breeds of chickens (many you have never seen before that are very interesting to look at), and you will also get a brief chicken history in the back of the book. What I especially enjoyed was the fact that the author wrote a small paragraph on each breed (again in the back of the book) featured in the book. I enjoyed the pictures of the various types of jungle fowl (the chickens early ancestor), and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is not a must have, but it sure is an enjoyable one.

This collection of Tony Carrillo's wonderful new comic strip F MINUS shows why he is gaining in popularity across the country. His offbeat humor is both original and right on the money.

His Spartan art only complements the humor and makes it a stand out in the current field of The Far Side wannabes in today's newspapers and bookstores.

Here's hoping there are many more collections of this laugh out loud strip in the years to come.

Having spent a few years at Arizona State when F-Minus was run in the campus paper, I've seen pretty much the whole collection. This book is an excellent collection of comics run over the first year of syndication, and it contains some of my favorites.

That being said, it needs more of the work Tony did in the ASU newspaper. I'm not sure if there's an issue with the syndication/copyright/whatever that prevents those from being included, but there are only about five pages worth of ASU-era F-Minus comics. Hopefully the rest surface (or have surfaced) somewhere for posterity's sake.

My good friend, a comic shop owner, gave me his signed collection of "Keef's" first collection. I remember Keith wandering around the San Diego Comic Con wearing a paper mache' head of his comic character which was, of course, himself. He was having a blast. His strip is full of good belly laughs and his poigniant take on contemporary living is bare bones hilarious. He can be considerably less than tactful but then so is life. So, do yourself a favor and buy his books, all of them. So what if he has brown skin. Who cares? Just dump the "race" crap. His life is full of the same triumphs and disappointments as the rest of us "white" folks. That's the key; he's clearly in there with the rest of us just struggling to make his life make sense even when it's obviously, often senseless, to no fault of his own. To have to make that point is pretty obsequious in itself.
You don't have to fully agree with his take on things to get the points he's making.
And....best of all, he's funny!

Knight's second "K Chronicles" collection is as zany as his first. From birthdays to family relations to touring with his band the Marginal Prophets to being subjected to "The Phantom Menace" movie, his cartoons's themes are full of social commentary, neurotic humor, and skewed realism. I think his ones about working at youth hostels and seeing the cultural-centrism of America at work are so perfectly calibrated. He's definitely worth reading, and I certainly wish his comic appeared in my area!

Oh, and his comics inspire me daily to stare at the walls and envision drawings of snowstorms (like page 103).

Keith is a sweetie!

Listen, just get this book. This is not one of those reviews where I'm going to say funny things, or make up gorgeous metaphors for anyone's catastrophic talent. Just get this book. It's really funny, and you like funny, right? Everyone likes funny!

I'm not African American, or a guy, and I don't live in California, and I'm not an artist, and I don't have a twin, but I can relate to this guy-- OK, we're the same age, and yeah, that helps, but the point is, he's just some guy. He's not married to Jane Pauley, or earning six figures, but really, he's better than them all.

Another wonderful K Chronicles compendium...

The very best thing about Wednesday is that a new K Chronicles comic is posted to Salon.com! Keef is exceedingly talented and I wish my local newspaper ran his strip daily instead of the mostly boring and awful ones they feature presently. Unfortunately, this will not happen in my lifetime - luckily there are books like this to fill the gap!

Pity the poor soul who gets caught in this 21st century, electronic melee. When funny gal Linda Sharp's RABID fire observations are bounced off her pen pal Shana Moore the result is a witty repartee loaded with acerbic commentary. No subject is sacred; dieting, sex, husbands, kids - every topic is treated with the same caustic playfulness.

This book is really cool and it gave me a lot of information on Finding Nemo that I didn't know about before.
But I did see a couple of errors in the book.
But the only errors were length and stuff like that....so it really doesn't matter that much.
Besides that the book gives you information on just about everyone in the movie and information on the type of fish that the characters are, like I never knew that Dory and Bubbles were related, let me tell you how:
Dory is a Regal Tang.
Bubbles is a Yellow Tang. cool huh....?
Anyway, its a good book to read when you're bored or while you're watching the movie.
This book is auesome.

Like many of Mr. Amend's fans I'm a bit disappointed he's switching his strip to Sunday-only, but fortunately I can still read him daily in the Foxtrot books. Get them one and all and you can keep right on a laughing.

FoxTrot follows a family of five through their bizzare everyday lives. Roger, the father, is a mid-level office worker, and his wife Andy is a successful columnist. Peter, the oldest child, is a high school senoir with a passion for sports but without the skill. Paige, the middle child, enjoys shopping but hates schoolwork. Jason, the youngest child, enjoys schoolwork and harrassing his sister.

This book is the second anthology of FoxTrot comic strips. Therefore, the characters have already been established, but the jokes and the storylines are still original. Among the notable storylines in this issue are a series of strips where Peter and his girlfriend Denise almost break up and a series where Jason and his friend Marcus have an essay writing contest. References to pop culture are interspersed throughout the book. The stories are still able to occasionally touch on serious, dramatic issues yet remain lighthearted. As an added bonus, the end of the book features a "comic book by Jason Fox" of Slug Man, a parody of Bat Man. FoxTrot fans should definitely own this book, but casual comic strip readers would also enjoy reading this collection of strips.

Foxtrot is a hilarious comic that details the life of the Foxfamily. Roger is the ...father, Andy is the forever put uponmother and their three children, eldest son Peter, the wanna be jock,Paige, the image conscious daughter and their youngest son, Jason, thescheming child prodigy. There are constant battles between the familymembers, with Jason often in the middle of it. Bill Amend has crafteda supremely funny ...that we all can relate to in one way oranother

If you're looking at buying this, you know what Sin City is. This collection is an oversized printing with thicker paper and darker inks. It's a very high-quality product and at ~$25 an issue, not a bad deal. I could only give it 4 stars because I noticed that at least 2 pages of story are missing from the second book as compared to the trade paperback. I don't know if those pages were added to the paperback version and not in the original comics, thus not used here, or if they were removed for some other reason, but since they are my two favorite pages in the book, I'm a tad disappointed. I'm not sure if anything else is missing; those two pages were all I noticed.

A must have for Frank Miller fans...

The only complaint I've heard about this collection is the lack of bonus materials. While I do agree with the argument, I believe you still get your money's worth and more in this product.

I've done some price comparisons online before purchasing these books, and amazon.com definately has the best price out there.

The packaging of the collection is eye catching; flat black with red foil lettering. The pages are quite thick and durable, a necessity for those of us who want to read them, as well as have something that looks good on a book-shelf.

The story and illustrations are now in larger print, giving you a better appreciation for the body of work.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Sin City books, this is still a good investment if you are fan of graphic novels. I was a fan of the film, and figured to give the books a try. Rather than spend a fortune tracking down the comics I thought I would try this. Not only does this series include a story-line not included in the film, but there is further elaboration on what you did not see in the film.

This is a great collection; the stories are wonderful, the packaging is great, and the price is right for what you are getting. I hope they continue to put these out. I know I'll be buying more.

Simply irresistible

If you can't guess why, you mustn't have liked the comics or the movie...

If there is a series that deserves an oversized format, it is SIN CITY. Point. No question about it. All that fantastic B&W art of Frank Miller blows away my mind every time I open up those books. But there is a problem: NO EXTRA STUFF!No sketch gallery,no unused pages or something like that.Anyway, the final design of the slipcase follows the art direction of the entire series!Take it!

Forget all the other imprints of this masterpiece. Finally Dark Horse does justice to this great series with this marvellous set. Marv, Goldie and all the others have never looked better. Just the quality of the paper and the blackness of the ink takes your breath away (matches the E.C. slipcased sets in quality printing). Just look at the other pictures above: aren't these covers awesome? Also included are beautiful color reproductions of most of the series' original covers. I would even go as far as to say that this set isn't just for fans. The panels are "ready to be framed" ... But then you'd need to buy at least two sets.... joking...
When you're interested in comic book inking, page set-ups, art in general or how to bring a plot to paper, buy this. You won't be disappointed. You'll want to read this over and over again. Each single dialogue, sharper than a razor blade, the movements frozen in mid-air. This will truely leave you breathless and in awe. When you liked the movie, buy this. It lets you appreciate the detail and leaves you the time to discover what maybe got lost through the pace of cinematic story-telling. I didn't like the movie as much as these books. Why? Here I have the time to appreciate every single frame, to let the characters grow inside my head. The movie didn't leave me that room. To me it almost became a series of scenes filled with too much senseless violence. Not that the books are any less violent or that because they leave you your own pace in reading them, they'd prepare you for anything that you have coming your way. No way. I just think they leave you more time and space to appreciate what great art it is that you are looking at - and for what a great price.
