I found this book to be page-turner. Once you start to read about Nola you will become involved with her live and not want it to end. The description of a small village in Maine to a big city is so vivid the reader feels a part of the story. The characters within Beneath A Shadow will stay with the reader long after this book is completed. If this is a 1st book for this 91 year old grandmother, I cannot wait for the next story which Lula B. Parsons will write.

Book of Shadows Triquetra Cover Design

This is a quality hardbound blank book with ivory pages. This is one of various cover designs that publishers Abyss Distribution produced in 2000. The book is primarily intended for recording personal rituals, spellwork, and other magical workings that an individual or "coven" might want to document. The quality is archival and suitable for presentation.

The cover art is hot embossed gold, this volume being one of the Triquetra design, symbolic of celtic artwork, also found in pagan and christain traditions. Wiccan and Neopagan symbolism is of the "Triple Goddess". The iconic image spans about half of the cover. There is a small similar stamp on the spine.

I obtained copies of this book as well as the various wiccan and egyptian versions because I believe the quality ensures a lasting record, when using the best quality archival inks. I particularly like the egyptian cover art: Goddess Maat, God Thoth, the Eye of Ra, and the Ankh. There are also covers with the Goddess Diana, a Triple Moon symbol, or a Pentacle, all well done and repeated on the spine.

Because this book is solidly bound blank pages, it requires some pre-planning before beginning to record your information. You will get the best use out of this book if you take time to divide it initially by topics you plan to write about or record. I recommend taking time to insert loose pages to section the book, as best you can to give it some index for the eventual content. Basic indexing will make your project easier to reference when filled, and more appreciated by others who may someday peruse your Book of Shadows.

I recommend these books, though they are increasingly very difficult to obtain, and none have been reprinted to date.

This is a beautiful hard cover book. An awesome journal, filled with enough pages and space to write and do whatever you need to do with it. The book is large, well made and durable. I do recommend making your own BOS, but this one is great.

This is a book that is deeply moving if you are someone who can handle very intensive reads. This is not a light book by any means! I can truly say this is my favourite book of all time: it made me want to go to India, in the mountains, and find myself. Anyways, it's a great book, if you're looking for something mind-expanding.

I haven't enjoyed a book as much as this for a long time. I've read this book at least four times and refer to it on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the average Christian and/or "sinner" (non christian) will not have any inclination as to why this book is so relevant.

Gerard Reed has validated a lifetime of dissatisfaction I've had with contemporary Christianity and solidified my determination to continue to seek God despite my faults and the hypocrisy of modern churches.

I've read Lewis for years and the underlying current of unconditional love and overpowering strength of God's love has been completely realized in "...The Bright Shadow of Holiness".

Your passion just might be God's calling card! The idea that God is a creator/architect and the ideals that we, naturally, come about during our lives, may just be evidence of the divine. Lewis recognized later in life that the "joy" he felt when he was having revelation of a thing, or the appreciation of beauty and perfection, may have been the wooing of the Holy Spirit, drawing him to God. This book describes in detail the possibility that God may have been active in your life, whether or not you've sought it out. You may be closer to God than you think.

I keep extra copies to give to friends and family.

The book is genius!

Thought holiness was stiff, legalistic and restricting? This book will change the way you see yourself and the way you see God. Holiness is explained the way it has always meant to be. Enjoy it. You won't regret owning this book.

The Case of the Shapely Shadow
Erle Stanley Gardner has tried to emphasize the importance of legal medicine by dedicating his Forewords to outstanding specialists in forensic pathology. Marshall Houts has worked for years in the Court of Last Resort, to educate attorneys in the importance of medical facts, and physicians about courtroom procedure (the tricks and traps of shrewd attorneys). Houts has been an FBI agent, WW II government investigator, college professor of criminal law, and author of several books.

Janice Wainwright visits Perry Mason's office without an appointment for confidential advice. Her employer has given her a suitcase to deliver to a locker. Janice believes this is blackmail money. Perry takes her as a client, and gives her legal advice. Della Street will accompany her when she makes a delivery (Chapter 1). Perry calls Paul Drake to have an operative follow the man who picks up the letter with the key to the locker (Chapter 2). The next morning Janice calls with the news that her employer Morley Theilman has gone missing, and a detective has been there to look for him. They find that the suitcase has gone missing from the locker (Chapter 3). Perry explains how this trick works (duplicated keys). The police are investigating Theilman's disappearance, and question Paul Drake and Perry Mason, who know little (Chapter 4). So Perry Mason now begins to investigate this event with the help of Paul Drake. Perry talks to the current Mrs. Theilman, and gains information (Chapter 5). Now Janice Wainwright can't be found, and they discover the real name of the second Mrs. Theilman (Chapter 6). Perry discusses and summarizes the problem with Della (Chapter 7).

Perry and Della fly to Las Vegas to surprise Janice; Paul Drake tracked her down. Now a shocking surprise occurs at the train station (Chapter 8). Janice apologizes to Perry and explains what she did. Then Lt. Tragg shows up to question Janice about the murder of Mr. Theilman (Chapter 9). When Perry tries to find Mrs. Theilman he finds that she was led away by a police officer. Perry then finds Mrs. Theilman and tries to question her, but the police show up and order him to leave the state (Chapter 10). Chapter 12 instructs the reader on the techniques used to match tires to tire treads. It shows the cross-examination of a medical examiner. Chapter 14 has another important cross-examination that negates some of the circumstantial evidence against Perry's client. This dramatic story continues to its conclusion by Chapter 17.

A "shadow" is the term for a person who follows another. Like his other books, there is a description and implied criticism of the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Parts of this story read like they came from a gossip column. This is about as close as Perry Mason came to losing a case. One problem with a lone eyewitness is that they may be mistaken or lying and there is no corroboration for their statement.

When Janice Wainwright shows up in Perry Mason's office with a suitcase full of money and a story of her employer being blackmailed, Perry, Della, and Janice start recording the numbers of as many bills as possible. However, when her employer ends up murdered, the evidence points to Janice as a blackmailer and a killer. Even more surprising, Perry Mason puts on no defense evidence, effectively betting Janice's life on one small detail, a detail which sets off a firestorm of legal fireworks and has Hamilton Burger spitting nails.

This is a novel that defines Perry Mason; one where he goes up against a mountain of evidence, but finds a different analysis of it, combined with legal tactics which run circles around the district attorney. Highly recommended.

What a magnificent tribute to the men who risked their lives to further diving and make their mark on the commercial world of oil and gas exploration. These men and their contributions to the research and development of deep diving is finally recognized. The "Oil Patch" was forever changed, enhanced, and formed by their efforts and sacrifices. Gary captured the essence of their selfless devotion and courage.

A very interesting and concise history

Gary Harris' book traces a key figure in the development of underwater gear for commercial divers. I recently became interested in underwater commercial diving, and Mr. Harris' book provides a concise introduction to the technical and human challenges of this amazing activity. This is a highly entertaining read that illuminates the culture and economics of the Gulf region as Joe Savoie worked to refine his diving helmet. If you are looking for an excellent introduction to the historical and technical foundation of modern commercial diving, this book is a must-read.

An enticing blend of humor and romance

Holly Lane's first effort in the field of historical romance rewards the reader with a seductive combination of humor and romance that brings her characters to life and leaves us wanting more. The hero is awkward, endearing, treating the heroine with heart-breaking tenderness. Ms. Lane's heroine can fight her own battles, win her own wars, but needs the loving commitment of a man who believes in her to help her believe in herself. You'll laugh, you'll cry, but most of all, you'll want to read more by this upcoming new author.

I couldn't put it down!

I really enjoyed Ms. Lane's book. The plot flowed with humor and realism. The characters interacted well with each other and the writng was such that the plot, conversations, and situations were believable. I am looking forward to reading future books by this exciting new find. She has made my "buy it" list.
