It's a pity someone either doesn't put out a new edition of this book or produce a new book along the same lines. This book is an excellent reference on the airwar aspects of the Biafran War, an important part of the war as much of the outside aid received by Biafra was from the air. Also, one of the ways Nigeria routinely outmatched the Biafrans was with their federal air force, which received considerable Soviet and East German assistance.

Well illustrated this book is a "must have" for anyone attempting to complete their collection on the Biafran conflict.

This book could serve as the master template for future books on air warfare and its associated civil aviation involvement. When reading and looking at this book I was immediately wondering which other conflicts should be devoted a book like this: the 1960s conflicts in Zaire/Congo, the Libyan arm airlift in the 70s, the Vietnam War (Air America/World etc.), etc. The quality of the information and the photographs are outstanding. A definite "to buy" book.

Once again, W.G. Raetz demonstrates that he's about to break through to become one of the most respected authors of this genre.

With wit, exellent pacing, and living characters, Shadows and Secrets is a book that you'll want to keep near you whenever you're in the house--you never know when you'll have a free moment, and the last thing you'll ever want to do is leave a story half read. The only problem, if it can be called that, is that one runs out of stories much more quickly than one ought to. What I had planned to read over a period of a few weeks, quickly turned into a reality of a few hours.

With his new book now on the market, I finally have a legitimate reason to put this one down.

Keep goin', W.G!

"Shadows and Secrets" picks up where "Cloaked Mode" left off and continues to chronicle the espionage adventures of WEB Agents Attewelle and Terry. The book offers more action wrapped into more intriguing plots. The reader is in constant suspense as the cases unfold with surprises at every turn.

The travels of the WEB Agents to far away and dangerous lands are eloquently depicted by Raetz's inclusion of native tongue and local customs that fully envelopes the reader. Raetz has also intricately woven the development of the characters as each story builds upon the previous stories, adding a glimpse into the lives of the WEB Agents outside the Bureau.

"Shadows and Secrets" is full of twists and turns with a bit of wit added into the mix.

SHADOWS IN THE DANCE, the sequel to DANCING ALONE by Debi Baxter, once again lives up to expectations. SHADOWS IN THE DANCE brings our heroine, Shea Kinkead, forward after a five year sabbatical of celibacy. Unsatisfied and fearful of becoming a driven, corporate woman without purpose, reason and being alone, Shea Kinkead moves her life forward. A much needed vacation to England reveals her innermost desires-desires for love and tender sexual gratification-gratification found with Ian, a mere gardener. Or is he something more? A two week whirlwind, exotic, sensuous, uncontrolled passionate romance begins and ends as quickly as a fleeting breath of air, as Shea returns to the USA to pick up where she left off...Kinkead Electric Company. Despondent from leaving her love in England Shea tries to encounter Kinkead Electric Company with enthusiasm. Noting mismanagement of funds sends Shea to investigate embezzlement, raging and maniacal outbursts from an employee, stalking, death and resolve. Pulling herself from a quagmire of personal fluctuations, Shea realizes the love she has for Ian is real and remembers a quote from her two week stay in England, "Life is short, my love. You'll blink your eyes and suddenly find you're my age. Don't let happiness slip you by. Nothing is more important than to do what you love and love what you do." This time Shea will reap the ultimate goal...true love.

In the continuation of Shea's life you will find romance, excitement and even suspense. It is wonderful book where you never want to put it down. It is fast paced yet so descriptive you can picture yourself right there with Shea all the time you are reading it. Toward the end of this book a special bond is formed between three people....that goes way further than the book itself and for that I am so grateful to Debi for keeping some precious memories alive thru the pages of this special book.
THANK YOU SO MUCH DEBI for your special friendship.

I just finished reading this compelling book and I must say it will be imprinted in my mind for a long time to come. It is a unique look at the lives of two youth during the WW2 war in France. It reveals some of the impact on their lives in a most unsual way. The separation and possible loss of their parents is something I do not think has been touched in such a soul searching account before by children who were not held captive by the Nazis. This book speaks to that subject and the profound effect it had on the characters in the book.Since this is based on the life of the author it is all the more moving and tragic. The literary skills of the daughter evoke the same skills of her mother who wrote Suite Francais.

An emotional and thought-provoking insight into the heart of a young poet.

Shadows of a heart is a very versatile book that tackles sensitive issues and complex emotions in several ways. The poetry touches on a large collective of emotions and will make you see things that you may take for granted from a different angle. The author talks about herself and the image that she projects to others where as there is so much more to her - most of which is revealed in this book. The poems are of various styles and most of them could also be sung (I can't sing, so I didn't try...) In her poetry I can see her ability to write musical lyrics. Open her book to any page and think of the words musically and you will appreciate this book even more.

Most of the poetry addresses difficult emotions that adults seem to think that they own. However, today's teenagers and children see far more and experience more stimuli than previous generations did. I was born during the Vietnam War era but the war raged, as I played at home, unaware of any chaos. Today, children have seen the videos of 9-11 and are aware of the way that humans hurt each other. They are not shielded from the reality of this planet and Brittany Renée's poetry speaks of these issues. Read the poems Richy Rich and Peace On Earth and you will see that Brittany - and almost all teenagers - will not be denied the truth. They watch and they see the pain and they are not too young to feel a part of this pain as well.

She addresses the love that she has for her parents for being there for her when she needed a shoulder to cry on or a dose of inspiration. She talks of abusive relationships as well as healthy ones, love found and love lost, of Angels and Satan. All of these very facets of human life are forever viewed by an ever-present God that we should seek to appease before our indiscretions do us in. This is a well-rounded book of poetry and the message is so varied yet so clear. I share Brittany Renée's opinion that " Even when you think no one understands...there is always someone out there thinking the same thing. Words sever relationships throughout life, but they also bond us for ever.

Thank you Brittany for sharing this part of your soul with us and I look forward to your next poetry collection: Dusty Angel.

I loved the imagery created by the author, I felt as though I was on the journey along with the main characters. I could see the people, places.. the full environment they existed in during every moment of the story. I couldn't wait to flip the pages to see the story evolve. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I searched the sight for other books released by the author. I could not find any other books published by the author on any website, so presume this is her first book. I truly hope the she plans to release a new book in the coming months/year, as it's rare to find something "new" that is so good. Hopefully it will be a sequel to this book, revealing more about several of the characters I've come to know & care about. This book isn't just about Fantasy, Sci Fi, or Adventure... it crosses several genres... touching on themes of Love, Faith, and Inspiration...

Many thanks to Swank for writing Shadows of Paris and Simon's Shadows. You gave us all a voice.
I grew up attending schools just like the ones that Richard Swank describes in his books. In fact, after reading his first book, Simon's Shadows, I walked away wondering if Mr. Swank had actually been writing about my schools. I remember being mistreated and disrespected by teachers who couldn't care less about me and did not want to be teaching me. I remember teachers demanding respect from me while they were busy yelling at me and belittling other students. As a result of these experiences I didn't get much out of my education. So when someone bought Simon's Shadows for me and told me it was a book that I HAD to read, you can imagine what I thought. Reluctantly, I read began reading the book, and found myself captivated by the characters. I was inspired by the fact that someone had actually written a book about students like me that wasn't negative and demeaning to me. I couldn't believe that someone had actually written a book from the perspective of a low-income, poverty stricken kid. I read Simon's Shadows all the way through in four days. It was the first book I had ever read all the way through. At that moment I vowed to read everything that Mr. Swank ever writes. As soon as Shadow's of Paris came out, I bought it, and I read this book cover to cover in just two days. I couldn't believe it, but Shadows of Paris is even better than Simon's Shadows. This latest book by Swank is suspenseful, intriguing and captivating. There are so many twists and turns to this book that I thought I was on a roller coaster ride. I loved this book. Once again, Mr. Swank was able to give a voice to all those kids who are left to fend for themselves. This book is a thriller with a twist. I had no idea what a psychological thriller was until I read this book. I highly recommend all of Swank's books to every teacher who believes that low-income, high-risk, "bad" kids, aren't worth the time it takes to educate them. We are worth the risk, and Mr. Swank proves it. I also recommend Swank's books to all those "bad" students out there who are being led to believe that there is nothing out there for them. There is a whole world out there for us, it just takes someone to believe in us.

How the saga could continue.

I was interested to see how a saga could continue despite the death of the main character. Richard Swank pulls it off nicely. Shadows of Paris is better than Simon's Shadows with new threats and the dark sides of the characters exposed. With just the right mix of suspense and loyalty, it will show people a new type of thriller. It will keep you on the edge until it's over and make you anticipate the next book.

My life was put on hold.

I received my copy of Shadows of Paris, started reading, and my life went on hold until I finished the book. I couldn't put it down. It mesmerized me. I found myself calling in sick to work just so I could finish it. It was quite different from Simon's Shadows, however it maintained what seems to be the theme of the series. This book took so many twists and turns and the ending surprised even me. Shadows of Paris starts with tragedy and ends as a psychological thriller. There should be a separate literary category for these book. These books beyond general fiction. One can't tell what parts of the books are true or how much of the books are actually fiction. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I hope it's not the last. Great Job Swank! I'll buy everything you write.
