At last, John Curry has a book in print worthy of his art. Ms. Junker has suceeded in paying a noble yet sadly overdue tribute to this unique and often neglected artist. Curry's paintings capture the emotion and natural force of American scenes in a way that was very much his own. Works like "Tornado over Kansas" and the scene of John Brown in "A Tragic Prelude" embody some of the greatest expressions of conflict to be found in American art.

A beautiful catalog of the a respected but still tremendously underrated painter, Jose Maria Sicilia - along with Miquel Barceló and Astrid Colomar, one of the brilliant artistic lights emanating from the tiny island of Mallorca. Sicilia works in a intense, contemplative mode creating in his paintings a universe both microscopic and telescopic in its dimensionality.

I've read A-WAY With It published by JEF in 2003 and
am really looking forward to reading this issue. A-WAY WITH IT
was a great challenging read but also very rewarding. I'm sure
this issue shall be more of the same and am really eager to
get it on. Definitely purchase this if you are interested
in experimental fiction in any form or to any degree.

A raggle-taggle collection of reviews and essays with no real unifying theme or drive - except a relative interest in matters Irish - this book has nevertheless done that most rare and testing of things in a collection of book reviews - it has persuaded me to buy not one but two of the books under review. Mahon's several pieces on McNeice make that out of fashion figure of interest to the non-Irish and non afficionado. There is a fun profile of Anthony Burgess and much memorabilia of literary youth at Trinity etc. There is everywhere an urbane sense of what the literary life is and how such and such a writer may have come to such or such a bad end or occasional lapse. Solid book reviews which are rewarding to dip into and a civilised, gentle tone throughout. How many essay collections can you say that of?

Jungle Tails is the 4th volume in this series from SQ Productions showing off a bevy of beautiful jungle queens in various stages of dress...or undress as the case may be. Jungle Tails recalls those great spicy adventure pulps of the 30's and 40's although the women in Jungle Tails are not the helpless females of decades waiting to be rescued by the male hero. These women may be gorgeous but they can kick butt as well.

The book starts with a gorgeous pin-up quality painted cover of "Sheena" by the great Pelaez before presenting 64 pages of vine-swinging, leopard-skin wearing beauties. The usual array of talented Gallery Girls artists are on hand including Mitch Byrd, Glas Gallego, Lucio Parillo, Anibal Maraschi and Tomas Giorello. Diego Candia has a drawing straight out of an Edgar Rice Burroughs story with a topless jungle maiden battling a great bear. A fierce, raven-haired cutie finds herself battling a pair of dark skinned natives in a piece by Pedro Cuevas. A nude woman is bound tightly to the branch of a great tree as she recoils in terror as a great ape approaches her through the brush...kind of a Fay Wray on a smaller scale, also done by Cuevas.

Isaac Delrivero shows off his skill with a hot nude blonde lying serenely atop a large crocodile in the middle of a river. Keeping up with this theme is J.L. Marin with his own blonde jungle queen resting peacefully in a tree while her pet leopard lies on another branch just above. Diego Candia presents perhaps the most ferocious subject in the collection with is nude jungle babe looking quite intimidating armed with a spear with the skulls of several of her victims dangling from the end. Del Rivero may have my most favorite piece in the book in an ode to Robert E. Howard and Conan as his ferocious female combatant stands in a pit of deadly snakes as a great python wraps itself around her torso. She's holding the snakes head and deadly fangs at bay with one hand as she's poised to deliver the killing blow with her knife. A fantastic piece!

Jungle Tails 4 will sure to be a hit with anyone who loves classic pin-up art with a 21st century edge.

Here Justin Lieberman is at his best, mixing razor sharp wit while oozing a reckless amandon. Notable among his "mid-career" peers, Justin's writing is not only ahead of its time, but it seems, is also from a time long past, in this way, it is timeless, also in this way it is a time machine, capable of crossing through superficial boundaries of space and time, mixing meanings, and misrepresenting the history of the world, as he sees fit. He lays all of this out in his earth shattering essay "Towards a Meta Language of Collage" which is included in this chilling tome. In the end Justin is especially surprising for all of his exuberance, especially at his age, when gusts of energy and inspiration come not at will, but by nature's own time clock, one of this artists strengths is learning to obey that very clock, which keeps us all ticking in these chaotic times. I definitely recommend this book for fans of: Mitt Romney, Rage Against the Machine, and English Prog. It saddens me ultimately to note that Justin has nearly reached the end of his long, and exhausting life, I wish him well as he passes swiftly through eternity.

I got my copy of this book about 2 hours ago.
What I want to say, is this-What a find!
If you are an artist,and are attracted to botany,this is a book of photography that is comparable to another book I bought about 2 years ago, featuring drawings from under a microscope.
What a treasure, this book is!
Other people have posted negative comments about the so called "blurriness" of the black and white photography in previous editions of other books concerning Blosfeldt.
There is nothing blurry about this book.
If you love nature, and are a sculptor,designer, I can tell you, you will be very pleased when you get this collection of plant photography.
Gosh, $10.19 is unbeleivable.
This has got to be the best book,I have bought online.
