I had the honor of listening to Mr. Miller in Chartres and was remiss in not purchasing his book at the time. He made the catherdral come alive through his story telling and I'm eager to learn more of the history and secrets before my return in 2009.

Chen Yifei is one of the most successful contemporary Chinese artists and an internationally renowned oil painter. His Chinese landscapes and soft portraits of beautiful women have appeared in top museums and galleries and are already now fine collectors items. But perhaps one has to appreciate Asia to understand his beautiful work. Chen Yifei is brilliant, but unfortunately not very good promoted (most of his books are out of stock for months)

This an excellent book that captures the essence of the Chicano Art Movement during it's formative years. A massive effort was undertaken to produce this book with contributions from too many to mention but including Ceasar Chavez, Martin Sheen, Edward James Olmos, various departments and committees at UCLA, and most notably The Wright Art Gallery. Lavish reproductions of original art work is displayed throughout the book. The artists featured are some of the best the movement produced, including David Avalos, Yolanda Lopez, Jose Montoya, Mario Torero, Ricardo Favela and Judith Baca, just to name a few. There are many other artists featured, these just happen to be some of my favorite from this book. The themes of the works run the gamut from Zapata to cholos, Frida Kahlo to lowriders, United Farmworkers to Chicano Gothic, McCarthyism to pachocos, murals, oils, pencil and multi-media works. A fabulous collection of works that represent the roots of the Chicano Art Movement. An excellent source book for anyone interested in the art of the southwest in it's early years. The various pieces of art are fully explained and given full analysis from a historical perspective. Find this book and add it to your art section of your personal library, the pictures alone are worth the price.

This music book has the most beautiful illustrations. The different views of Mary and Jesus are wonderful.The collection of carols is just right. They are easy to play too. The illustrator pictured the traditional creche a different way in each picture. It had more of an Egyption style to the pictures. I love this music book so much.

Marina Vaizey is well qualified as an editor to co-author a book with Christo; she's a much-published art editor.

Christo's work struck me at first as just plain nuts. Wrap a bridge in cloth? Surround an island with pink, floating plastic? Run a fence for miles? Stack oil drums into a mountain? Then I saw the photos of the Key Biscayne islands, each emerald drop surrounded by a flamingo pink halo and I got it. This is art on a monumental scale. And the temporary nature of it makes it even more special; to see these works most people must rely on photos or sketches of the proposed concept by Christo; the actual work of art only exists for a short period of time and of course by nature, cannot travel to exhibitions. How I wish I could have flown over the Keys to see their complete transformation by this incredible artist. Once you study the photos and drawings in this book, you'll have a great idea of Christo's unique genius and the role of his partner Jeanne-Claude (who only recently began to gain credit for her part in his work.)

There aren't enough books on Christo, so this is an important work. Don't miss it.

This and other books on the same topic is a must for people especily kids who have a big and good imagination ! if Christo covered Mt. Everest in cavas and fermly tied down with rope it will amaze evreyone who sees it and it will be easy to climb just hold onto the ropes !

I recently used Circa 1492 as a reference in preparing lesson plans for several high school units. I found the book to be an excellent resource, filled with information about the world in 1492 that was thought provoking. I recommend the book for anyone who is interested in art and history, multicultural society, and the age of exploration.

Betsy and I enjoyed creating this book because it gave us an opportunity to introduce visitors and residents to places that make Indianapolis special. Strolling, shopping, or sightseeing, visitors will be guided to those places that gave them the richest flavors the city has to offer.

The book is divided into thirteen chapters, including Where To Stay, Shopping, and Nightlife, making it easy for readers to pinpoint the topic they are searching for. Entries are short and fact-packed, and the book includes plenty of pictures and fun facts about the city.

This is my favorite San Francisco Guide. It includes all the essentials, as well as lists of favorites from seasoned SF locals. I liken it to a San Francisco Through the Back Door kind of guide.
