"Yosemite - the Grace & Grandeur" is a must-have for anyone who plans to visit this beautiful park or who wants to re-live
the memories of having visited it. While it's chock-full of beautiful photos (it's also called "A Pictorial Discovery Guide"),
it also contains wonderfully written text about everything from the Park's history to its wildlife. We just got back from
a visit to the park a couple of weeks ago, and immediately knew this one was a keeper!

This is a great book with wonderful illustrations. The adventures of little Zonk continue in this sequel to Zonk: the Dreaming
Tortoise. My daughter really likes Zonk and she often picks this book to read. I think she is attracted to the gorgeous colors
and the vulnerable/take charge attitude of the main character. I would recommend this highly to any parent who wants to introduce
their children to the wonders of the Sonoran Desert and the Sea of Cortez.

We bought this book for our five year old, but it is a delight for the whole family. The map of the secret lagoon on the
opening page is an endless delight to our youngest, as are all the beautiful pictures of the turtles, the whale, the bats,
the crabs, the vaquita (the world's smallest porpoise and also the world's most endangered porpoise we learn from the book)
and all the other sea creatures. The story of Zonk's adventures in the lagoon leading to his homesickness for the desert
and his attempt to find his way home keeps the attention of the older children. My wife and I particularly like the spectacular
colors of the illustrations and the humor. These are some of the best illustrations of any children's book we have seen.
This would be a great gift for any family.

Changing the Meaning of Drawing

This fabulous collction of virtually every one of the most vital contemporary artist is, simply put, a must. The talent and
diversity of these works are astounding and envigorating. The title "Drawing" conjures up images of simple sketches, pencil
works and other trite mediums of drawing. However, these works prove that drawing, the element of art that is the product
of the artist's mind directly onto a surface, is fulfilled in every way. Works like "Detail from Cremaster 3" by Matthew
Barney and other works by Ellsworth Kelly, Sol Lewitt, Anish Kapoor, Lari Pittman, Charles Ray and many others make this mini-volume
a treasure worth investigating.

This book is a delight! The author makes no claims on being an art expert, but he is knowledgeable enough to make each entry
fascinating. I dream of one day travelling to London with this book in hand to see my favorite pieces. I have discovered
several artists new to me through this book. I highly ecommend it.

A book which touches an interessting concept: a home for under 80 000 US Dollars (construction costs and architects fees included)where
new approaches, concepts and ideas are put together. Interessting from my point of view, as to how the traditional home might
be in a world where things are changing so rapidly. Should architects continue proposing a fixed architecture or a renewable
one? Where users of architectural spaces have a higher degree of intervention allowing their expressions to manifest the
space which they occupy. This book has 36 prototypes of homes ranging from a DIY Home, a home as a commodity which can travel
with you, to the home ( as a living and working space) linked through telecomunications to the outside world. This book
is the result of Peripheriques having invited 36 European architects to participate in this assignment, which simultaneously
produced an exhibition with the architects models which is currently touring Europe. If you are an architect you will apprecitate
the ideas in this book. Enjoy it :)

I bought this book thinking it would teach me the aleph-bet through lessons and exercises. To my suprise I found it is an
alphabet book for children. But wait! I found it is helpful to learn new words, not "cat" or "dog", but complex words with
wonderful pictures from the Israel Museum. This book makes a great conversation piece to set on the coffee table or anywhere
else adults and children alike would pick it up. The more pages you turn the more interesting it becomes. I also like the
odd shape and the fact it reads right to left (as it should).

This ABC book uses the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York to teach children the alphabet. Using well-known
works of art such as Matisse's "Dance" for the letter "D" and van Gogh's "Starry Night" for the letter "N", this children's
book introduces the alphabet by looking at different interpretations by well-known artists of what an elephant (E) or a
vase (V) may look like. We have really enjoyed this book - even as early as 18 months.

Many people who have been to Yosemite feel that they know it well from having seen it from the bottom of Yosemite Valley and having viewed Mr. Adams's remarkable photography.
I have had the pleasure of visiting Yosemite many times from when I was just a youngster growing up in California. Each time I go, I plan to see another part of the park. Interestingly, I find myself drawn more to the areas outside of the bottom of Yosemite Valley than to those areas where most visitors congregate. For example, when I took my wife there for her first visit, we went first to the Mariposa Grove to see the giant sequoias. I was hooked on this book when it started out the same way, after an introductory section that focuses on the geological, historical and political background of Yosemite. When I discovered that the book pays a lot of attention to the high country where most visitors never go (even though you can drive through Tioga Pass), I decided that it was important to encourage people to read this book. It will open your eyes, mind and heart to the full scope of Yosemite.
By being in color, those images provide a totally different perspective on Yosemite. These views will help those who have been to Yosemite recapture the feelings that they had while there. For potential visitors, the book is an excellent resource for planning a worthwhile trip. I was especially pleased to see that the wildlife were well captured in the images.
No book that I have read and enjoyed captures Yosemite so well for me as this one. I hope you will decide to read it.
After you have finished the book, I urge you to find ways that you can commune with nature more frequently in places that inspire the positive parts of who you are.
